The Preseason is usually ending right now

by knicksdefense on October 23, 2011

I understand most of America could care less about professional basketball considering football is still at its apex.

Regardless, the showdown between David Stern and Billy Hunter hurts the diehards just as much as it hurts the players.  Okay, maybe not as much.

Usually we’d be talking about players like Knick rookie Iman Shumpert.  By now we’d have had a good look at his game through the vegas summer pro league and the preseason, which would be coming to a close were it not for this lockout.

The owners believe they are right and will try to hold out a full year, that hurts the players because this is a young man’s sport and players like Amar’e Stoudemire aren’t getting any younger.

There should be another league.

The longer this showdown continues, the more basketball fans will jump ship never to return.

Some will find their kick watching college basketball.

Some will find another sport.

I think both the NBA players and the owners should humble themselves.  If things can’t be the way they’ve been due to the poor economy, well then ticket prices should go down.  They won’t as SaipanKnickster has rightfully said.

I am not a fan of Bryant Gumbel.  Calling Stern a slave owner is no good.

Stern may be pompass and arrogant, but I guess that comes with the territory.

The show must go on.  If it doesn’t, the NBA will lose fans it will never get back.

Look at the league right now.  LeBron is the best player, and people don’t like him.   He’s no Jordan in terms of being an icon.  Neither is Wade, CP3, Dwight, none of them.  Not Melo or Amar’e either.

It was going to be a little interesting to see Melo and Stat play together with a healthy Billups, but now this is looking like at least half the season will be lost.  I hope I’m wrong.

If OakTree said it, it must be true

by knicksdefense on October 16, 2011

Pure Knick Charles Oakley recently called out Amar’e and Isiah.

He is truly the voice of reason.

I wish Dolan would get hit by a bus running over Isiah.  Both are not true Knicks, neither will ever be.

True Knick fans know the difference between real Knicks and rich imposters who only know how to lose and cause fans to jump ship to the Nets.

If CP3 only comes here due to “Isiah helping” then I don’t want him to come to New York.

I’ll take Dwight to shore up the defense with only Amar’e down there.

Dwight, Nash, Stoudemire and Melo would be enough for a dynasty without the help from Isiah Lord Thomas and butt buddy Dolan, the Knicks posers.

Curry was MIA for the Isiah Thomas classic yesterday after originally being hyped as having lost 50 pounds and scheduled to compete in said charity game. Perhaps this why.

Iman Shumpert: the rook, the young blood, the writer

by knicksdefense on September 29, 2011

Shumpert and Dwight Howard Summer of 2011

Iman Shumpert recently reported to the New York Post his experience playing basketball with some NBA vets.

Some say Shumpert was a gamble, but one thing is for sure: Shumpert himself does not gamble.

Thanks to Isiah Thomas for hosting this year’s NBA all star game at FIU.  Melo (banged up knee and elbow recently repaired) and Amar’e (questionable back still a question mark) will be there as will Miami’s big three.

Speaking of big three, Wade thinks New York is on the cusp of greatness.

Check out this pic of Melo looking like thelonious with the hat and beard.  Melo was on one of those criminal justice shows I care not to watch.

The Knicks and their consultants hire Mike Woodson

by knicksdefense on August 29, 2011

Much like those that came before him, the writing is on the wall for Knicks head coach Mike D’Antoni. Lenny Wilkins, Don Chaney and Larry Brown know exactly how Mike D’Antoni must feel right now. It’s big daddy Dolan and Isiah against a great coach with a great record, and odds are, said coach will not survive the season.

Today, the Knicks have announced the hiring of coach Mike Woodson, as an assistant coach. Woodson had coached the Hawks from 2004 to 2010, and has around a .400 winning percentage as a coach. Woodson actually played one season as a Knick during the 1980-1981 season. Woodson once recruited Isiah Thomas to play for Indiana University. Now that Donnie Walsh is out, having the Knicks bringing in another Indiana guy is only further evidence Isiah Thomas is still pulling the strings for Knicks owner James Dolan. They are very close, sadly.

The Knicks’ redshirted rookie center, Jerome Jordan, will begin training camp overseas in Europe with an opt out clause should the NBA lockout break.

Any predictions for how long this lockout will last? I’m betting around 41+ games will be missed. Not a great thing for the players of the league, because, let’s face it, this is a young man’s sport, and they will age without getting the prime time PT they are looking for. The owners will lose money during the lockout, but chances are they’ll stay rich.

The best thing for both the players union and the owners is obviously to work things out now, but neither side is willing to budge on negotiations. So be it. There’s always college basketball. Now, should I root for Villanova, Rutgers, UNC?

Turiaf broke his hand overseas

by knicksdefense on August 18, 2011

This offseason has been terrible.

Mr. T hurt again?  Well, what else is new?

Mullin was recently interviewed as saying Donnie Walsh will end up working again in the NBA.  He stopped the bleeding in New York, what a disgrace Mr. Dolan didn’t do all he could to keep him in New York.  I assume Dolan poorly handled the Carmelo trade and didn’t allow Donnie the full autonomy he had promised during the trade deadline.

Melo has a tattoo that alludes to the snakes being shown when the grass is cut.  I here there are big snakes on Long Island.

Give two guys each four years to not make the playoffs and rack up bad contracts, yet walsh gets us back in three and he is sent packing.  I’m sure I’m not getting this, seems illogical if not idiotic.

Carmelo Anthony as a Knick

My choice of music goes better to the mix than whoever put this together. Click play on the first video but turn the volume down on it in favor of the Root’s Mello My Man.
