The fantasy basketball fans weren’t yet old enough to watch Dominique Wilkins

by knicksdefense on August 1, 2010

Dominique was one of my favorite players ever.

He could fill up a stat sheet like no one else.

He was guaranteed to do at least 5 amazing things in every basketball he played in during his prime.

And yet, he never went deep into the playoffs during his Hawk days.

There is more to basketball than just statistics, that’s what John Hollinger doesn’t understand when he’s counting all those beans.

You could not put a price on what players like Oakley did for the Knicks. There are intangibles beyond the numbers game.

Walsh’s big challenge then is to assemble a team with good team chemistry. We haven’t had that kind of winning culture team chemistry since ’99.

Good thing we only have 2-4 guys coming back from last year.

there are few like Charles Oakley. no easy layups with Oak around. he fouled…hard. every team needs a guy like that [it's not amare or ronny turiaf].

an analysis of Wilson Chandler, including the complementary skills of Chandler and Gallinari

I think Turiaf brings to the the table some of the Oakley type intangibles… maybe Mozgov could fill that role somewhat as well, if he’s ready and gets minutes…
