Knicks Have Made an Offer to Shannon Brown

by knicksdefense on July 29, 2010

Literally the next day after the Rudy Fernandez to New York chatter picked up on the radar, we now have official word that the Knicks have tried to make their next move since the Golden State trade and Mozgov signing.

Shannon Brown, the player who’s name is probably linked to more nasty dunks on youtube than any player currently on our roster not named Amar’e, has been offered a contract by the New York Knicks.  Brown is waiting for Los Angeles to resolve their luxury cap issues by attempting to trade Sasha Vujacic (could care less about spelling it right, it is a Laker).

Not only does Ken Berger hook us up with this Knicks news, he also lets us know we don’t have to wait any longer to trade anyone we picked up in the Golden State trade, those guys could be used right now if the right deal for Donnie came along.

I am not oo familar with his game other than the highlights… he looks to be nore more than 6 ’3″ -6’5″. but he definitely has ups.. his skill set would fit well with the current system. KD good point in comparing him to Amar’e… they both attack the rim with gusto(as Clyde would say)

I also like that he will also challenge offensive players on a break by going for the block..plays like that would certainly energize the crow and his teammates @ home and the bench and mates on the road. would like to know more about his handle and outside shooting

I wonder if the Knicks see him as a starter?

Good 411 by KBerg@CBS re: the fact that the Golden State players that NYK got back for Lee are eligible for trade now..If the right move comes along… those are solid assets. Long time since the NYK had options, assests, cap space and flexibility all in the same year no?

I don’t know about Shannon Brown. He is not a strong shooter, and we all know how Dantoni feels about shooters. His skills seem redundant considering Chandler and Azabuike. Could they be signing him to include him in a trade?

they could put a ridiculously athletic 5 on the court

Felton
Shannon Brown
Chandler
Amare
Randolph

but none of these guys can shoot outside 12 feet!

maybe as a trade asset or him replacing someone else who might get shipped off. good point
