Carlos Delfino?

by knicksdefense on March 12, 2009

According to Knick beat writer Frank Isola, the Knicks are talking to Carlos Delfino, who is currently playing basketball in Russia.
Would Delfino be brought in to backup Chris Duhon, who has done a great job at point guard this season for the Knicks? Could this move signify more roster changes this summer for Donnie Walsh and Mike D’Antoni?

Not very familiar w his game exc.. that he is a shooter…I think the Knicks made a huge blunder in not getting a quality back up for Duhon earlier he has been worn thin…But KD i think they may be trying to make changes other than Curry of course

Yeah saipanknickster, a backup for Duhon would have really helped prevent burnout, but I still think Duhon’s got something left if they somehow make it to the playoffs.

Frank just updated his blog with his latest rumor: Chris Mullin to join the Knicks front office. With Grunwald and H20, do we need Chris Mullin? What happened to Golden State, they had a very promising squad last time I looked, now, they’re sort of mess.

Not to discredit Mullin’s college career or pro career but what makes him the guy to go after based on what he has done in Golden State? Just bloggin’.

Hey KnicksD

It does appear that time is slowly showing that Jamal, while a very productive offensive player, isn’t the type of team oriented playmaker or two way player a team would spend meaningful contract space for.

I like the dude b/c he’s always been a good citizen while he was @ MSG but the team needed players who would in the long run facilitate the offense, and players can effectively play both ways- whether they consistently do so is another issue all together.

No bones about it alot of Knicks fans right now are ok for the Harrington for Crawford Deal.

And considering that Tim Thomas was flipped to produce Larry Hughes that’s another trade that ultimately worked out well.

Also note how Z-Bo killed the Clipper’s chances against the Cavs with 6.4 remaining by trying to win the game by himself while having Varejao draped over him. His teams were a mixture of amused, befuddled, and some even pissed off.

Read Money Ball the NYT Mag article dated 02.15.09, it says something about how numbers in basketball can be very misleading.

Good weekend bro!

I’d like to have Delfino with the Knicks.

Dude was a shooter and slasher for the Raptors he was also noted for being a quality defender.

Mike is balancing out his starting 5 and the use of his roster much better than the previous coach- neither here nor there.

Hughes with Chandler in the starting five, provides at least to capable defenders. Jefferies off the bench is also good. I’d still like to see some Wilcox to give Lee some rest and help him against the bigger bounding NBA lineups.

There was one possession late in the third or early in the fourth when Nate got caught in a mismatch after a switch. Gomes went to post up, but Lee shaded off his man to threaten a double team if the ball went down to Gomes. With 7 seconds left on the shot clock, Minnesota instead swung the ball around the perimeter, but the shot clock expired before they could even get a shot.

Yes, Minnesota is awful, but we saw something last night we haven’t seen in quite a while: a Knicks opponent struggling to get a decent shot!

Opponent’s Playoff Notes Bobcats

Bobcats are 7-6 since the February 15th All Star game. The Cats surged to contention for the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs by way of 6 game winning streak which included victories against fellow playoff hopefuls, Atlanta, New York, and Chicago. Yet, the Bobcats have cooled off losing their last 2 games against the Rockets and Spurs.

Ten of the Bobcats final Seventeen games are against teams whose winning percentages are below five hundred and Seven or their remaining games will be at home. But four of the teams with winning percentages below five hundred will be against the Pacers and Knicks at home, and the Bulls and Nets on the Road all of whom also have playoff aspirations. Overall for the Bobcats the first 6 games starting tonight on March 14th will all be against teams with sub five hundred winning percentages. Of those 6 games, Indiana is the only team with playoff aspirations. From March 27th onward Seven of the reaming eleven teams the Bobcats will face will be either teams with winning percentages over five hundred or teams also chasing the eight seed in the Eastern Conference. The 76ers (two games), Lakers, Celtics, Heat, Pistons, Magic, Bulls, Nets and Knicks will be among the teams the Cats will face after March 27th.

Opponent’s Playoff Notes Nets

The Nets have seen their playoff hopes shaken by going 4-8 since the All Star game. Prior to the All Star game the Nets were on a 4-2 trend in which they had won 4 games in a row against several playoff caliber teams including the Bucks, 76ers, and Nuggets.

The New Jersey Nets also have Seventeen games remaining. Of those Seventeen games nine of those games will be on the road and seven of those road games will be against teams either fighting for playoff positioning or also in chase for the eight-playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Nuggets, Knicks (twice), Cavaliers, Bulls, Celtics and Pistons are the teams whom the Nets will face on the road. The Nets Remaining Home games will all be against teams either vying for playoff positioning or against teams contending against the Nets for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The teams the Nets will face at home include the Heat, Cavaliers, Lakers, Bucks, Pistons, 76ers, Magic and Bobcats.
