You know there will be discussion on this during today’s game against the Celtics in MSG, so might as well kick it off with some quotes from one of the Celtics’ Big Three.
It is oversimplifying to rest the blame entirely on Stephon or Isiah or any one Knick, but if/when the day comes when Stephon is no longer a Knick, I honestly won’t miss him at all. The first two season Steph was a Knick, it was easy to root for him, but since then, it has been one drama after another. The basketball has been on the backburner for Stephon, going from playing 74 games two seasons ago, to 24 games last season to zero this season. Is this year’s “zero” all Dolan/D’Antoni’s fault? Not entirely, no. I don’t believe that, sorry.

Considering the way we’ve played lately, I’m not big on the first, second even the third quarter. So if we have a one point lead after one, it doesn’t mean much.
It’s about finishing out the game–actually winning the game.
Al Trautwig is now confirming that the Celtics are interested and that Marbury has been to Boston twice to talk. Mike Breen added that the Marbury to the Celtics rumors are originating from Marbury himself.
I get a chuckle out of Clyde calling Pierce’s pass “the most asinine pass.”
What a great win yesterday. Chandler is a definite keeper. I think with another couple of seasons under his belt, he may emerge as a true star. I wouldn’t mind having Harrington to come off the bench in 2010 either. He seems to be flourishing in that role.
Amazingly enough, I have seen more defensive intensity over the last few games. The switches on the Rondo/Garnett pick n’ roll were great. That set the tone and destroyed any cohesion the C’s had. I hope they see what they can do when commited to D and bring that intensity to the next 50 games.
the new shit out of nyc. camby back to nyk? i fogot who we got back for him back when we impatiently shipped him out post ’99 finals, becuase Jayson “I’m going to shoot my driver while giving a house tour” Williams called Camby “Fragile”…

At least walsh is hearing the cries of the nyc faithful, that we need some d to suppliment any offense no matter how high octane it may be.
I hope the two all-stars we get in 2010 can play both ways…
You have to admire this kid’s humble approach to the game of basketball.

I wish he played for the Knicks.
Durant will be a a restricted free agent in 2010. I wonder if we threw MAX money at him to a point that “Oaklahoma City” couldn’t match, if he’d be more valuable to the Knicks than Chris Bosh. I think you could make the case that Durant is that good.
Well, teams don’t often like to give up they all-stars they’ve drafted, but I’m just bloggin’ in any case.
Crap game to watch last night though, after a while I turned it off after I thought they’d no chance to win…
that game last nite was disgusting, the late comeback notwithstanding, poor effort and lack of fire… not happy about Nates trigger happy dribble dribble game… he needs to move the ball
KnicksD
I won’t miss Marbury if and when he’s let got, traded or cut.
I do believe D’antoni did one thing most bloggers spoke of last year, namely creating more of a balanced on court squad. He did so by inserting Jefferies, and Lee into the Starting 5. That is something Isiah didn’t do, and most, if not all, bloggers here last year criticized Isiah for too many “scorers” on the floor at once- recall the double bigs of Curry and Zach.
So Kudos for D’antoni there. D’antoni also put Jefferies on Rondo, nice tactic that nullified the Celtics point man. Give D’antoni credit there.
Also the team does play with more structure and energy on the offensive side of the ball. They still lack discipline in tight situations and break down into one on one play- that most of us don’t agree with. But that said better offensiv structure and energy is a plus.
[ ]‘Antoni still needs to provide better structure and the players need better discipline on the defensive side of the ball.
Walsh did what he said he was going to do by trimming the bloated roster for a run at 2010. Whether the Knicks sign a Marquee free agent or not is besides the point. Cap space going forward for either Walsh or any incoming regime is an end in itself.
So it’s not all hateraide from my side of the Knicks Indy Blogosphere. I’m just not into being sold koolaide. I’ll make my observations as the team plays out the season.
Good day to you, Saipan, John Q, Top Shota, Bilz, Jackie, DLT and the Defenders crew.
Solid points regarding Durant.
Chandler hopefully will grow into his potential. He doesn’t seem a sloth like Curry so his journey will not be stifled by complacency. Hopefully.
Lets Go Knicks as always!
The two sets of comments I posted on this site are missing. What’s up with that?
O&B.. good to read you..peace to you and yours in this new year
I agree that Walsh and D’Antoni have made strides when compared to the most recent regimes…Na8 and his dribbling is starting to annoy me and i wish he would become more of a ballhawk and pest on D
I hope Curry looks good so he can be traded with all of his slothiness!
Saipan
Agree with you about Nate’s recent lack of focus.
remember that the Knicks were on the verge of 7-3 against the Mavs and went downhill from there. Hopefully the pendulum will swing the other way with a Knick victory today.
As always a pleasure to talks Knicks with ya!
Smells a little fruity in here, oh hey, how are ya O&B? You seem pretty paranoid about being censored on here, tell me, how many times have YOU ever been censored on here to mention it once or thrice? Maybe I’m wrong but it sounds to me like you want to be.
…Eddy Curry comes in, gets a rebound, makes a basket and has his season highs despite it being early January.
Nate continues to shoot bricks and yet the Knicks are still up because they were up by more earlier in the quarter.
Curry couldn’t get up high enough to dunk the ball at point blank range, chosing to lay it up as if he were nate’s height and not 6’11″.
I’m not really diggin on Kelley T’s commentating. Missing Gus Johnson right about now, he was the best Knick announcer this side of Marv Albert.
Fuggin’ Dolan’s ego is too large for any talent to stick around MSG Network. I’m wondering how many of those new female announcers boned him to get their jobs, because they’re not real knick fans to me.
just bloggin’
that goes for Jason Horowitz too.
LOL KnicksD
No offense meant. Perhaps I misread tech difficulties with the blog, when my posts weren’t showing up, as something more.
My apologies.
Anyhow competitive game, Knicks wacking people on D which is better than doing nothing.
David Lee got fleeced several times but Rogue Refs in Dallas back pocket yesterday.
Curry did get 2 bounds but yes needs to get into better conditioning to contribute and up his trade value.
Bass is a beast and a pain in the ass.
Any words on the Knicks prospects against them Houston Rockets?
What’s up with that darn fruity comment?
They shot 25% in the 4th quarter and missed their last 6 shots. They had three possessions with opportunities to take the lead after Harrington converted a three-point play. They’ve got serious game, but they don’t have anyone with that killer instinct hits the shot at that critical moment.
The Knicks, dare I say, have become the Clippers.
O&B, KD and all Defenders thanks for the shout outs and props!
The team seems to be developing and there is a plan … but boy I dont like this losing
Curry needs to be on workfare… if he was in shape and ready to go from the git his skills could so help this team now and @ the end of games.
I do not really care for Tripucka either nor Cervasio… Gus J was great…Breen always seemed like he was auditioning to be a ref or for Stu jackson’s job…although i know he probably makes more calling games
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dime-090110-11
Curry is a huge disappointment and what really makes his sitution shameful is that he did not play harder last year when IT’s job was on the line and that is the guy who stuck neck out for Curry… maybe he shoulda been a tumbler
Well perhaps if he palays a few more games he can be traded around the deadline for an expiring deal
we are definitely rebuilding.
but haven’t we been rebuilding for years?
the knick fans should be rewarded for their loyalty.
sticking it through all the bad times.
we deserve playoffs, victory in the playoffs, really, but we can’t even get in to the playoffs anymore.
not in many, many years now.
the silver lining is miles away from the way they’re playing right now.
miles away is so right!
E__y Curry being sued by male driver for sexual harassment and racism
http://www.nypost.com/seven/01122009/news/regionalnews/knicks_sex_scandal_shock_149861.htm
Isiah Thomas took the heat not too long ago for sexual harassment and racism in the ABS trial, so E__dy’s adding a new twist with the gayness, according to the New York Post.
If i could turn back time on the Curry trade, I’d rather have Mike Sweetney, Rajon Rondo and Andrew Bynum than anyone we have on our team now (Chandler included) as a result of the Curry trade. Renaldo was already sent packing.
Thanks e__dy, for this at a time when we are trying to trade you before the deadline. the legacy of isiah thomas.
Awesome win last night. Great to see Chandler get aggressive down the stretch, Harrington knock down a make-or-break shot, and everybody keeping composure against a home team making a run.
QRich had three critical plays on an off night of shooting. He sank a huge three, but his textbook box out/offensive rebound and post-up-and-dish against Chris Paul showed how badly he wanted to contribute. I’ve been critical of his game since he came to the Knicks, but I believe now that I underestimated his bball IQ.
Q and Jeffries contribute alot of things that do not appear in boxscores
the thing is Q is on and off. he’s great for a while, then his back messes up his game. jeffries I’ve always been a fan of. he can’t shoot, but i think he makes up for that with other things he does on the court. but havign both of them makes no sense in terms of playing them at the same time, because they can both be off in terms of scoring, and then you only have three guys (two if lee is in) that can shoot the rock.
this is the intermediate team. glad we got the win, but I’m not sure if we’re rooting for lottery picks at this point or trying to get back into contention for a seven or eighth seed, which of course would mean a lower pick in the draft.
i don’t miss renaldo, mardy, crawford or zbo, though. these guys had to go. they’re not done yet either. I think lee is on his way out, hate to say it. i hope he stays, but if we have to move him because of 2010, i hope we get some value back because he’s a real professional basketball player.
for people who love jazz music, wkcr has been playing 300 straight hours of roy haynes music. right now they’re playing some sarah vaughan live recordings that are essential. marathon ends friday.

Dud make up your mind do you prefer the Knicks to stink and get a play- another Rooster- or would it be better to build a winning mentality- even if it starts with a first round exit in the playoffs.
I’m for the Knicks making a bid for the playoffs. Hindsight is 20/20 as is often said, so who knows what would have happened had the tractor not hit the Rooster. But looking back that pick was tepid when one considers that the Knicks needed a competent 5 and Brook Lopez was there for the taking.
I don’t trust Donnie to pick a decent player in the draft!
Ans since hindsight is 20/20 stop hating on the players now gone or on their way out.
Lee is a keeper! Period!
OBTW great win the other night.
Knicks are picking up that D. Q is inconsistent, back problems will do that, so who knows what to expect from Rooster.
Seemed like the game was on a slower pace, and the Kicks controlled the ball while got higher quality shots with the passing.
Lets see if they can string together some wins.
Win baby win!
yes i am glad they won esp. by buckling down on d and executing well down the strectch..things they failed to do well for about 3 weeks @ the end of games!
Saipan
Seems like the Knicks are still getting accustomed to playing- I mean commiting- to defense on a game in game out basis.
I was running past the recent results and the Knicks will usually follow a solid defensive effort- nowadays holding an opponent under 100 (makes you whish for the Oakley, Starks, Ewing Knicks huh)- with a night were the lack of defense results in an opponent scoring more than 100 pts.
But it’s a step there are some good defensive games, and some nice defensive series being shown by these rent a Knicks.
Good Stuff.
