Who doesn’t play better under Mike D’Antoni?

al harrington

Congrats to the first Knick in a long time to win player of the week:

Al Harrington

Tonight we play in Phoenix, obviously a big game for our head coach Mike D. Nash was in the papers today claiming he feels like he’s been traded. Steve Kerr is a complete idiot if you ask me.

truth be told with the less than stellar defense aside the Suns caught some bad breaks during their run ,,, the injury to JOe Johnson one year and the bench leavinf incident a few years back….sometimes we forget that in addition to the talent, tatics and true grit that makes challengers champs, they get some measure of good fortune along the way ie. another team plays them shorthanded etc.

so perhaps Kerr might have gotten a few defenders to play alongside their horses…

KG you got some truth there b/c was not much of a defender in his day either

Congrats to AL H i like it more when drives to the basket…peace

SaipanKnickster, thanks for being a true knick defender to this day.

hey, we’re 2-2 on a 5 game road trip, and what a difference from last night to tonight. we were ice cold from three point land and it showed against the suns.

tonight against the lakers, we’re shooting the lights out, and we’re up 15 at the half beating a team with a 20-3 record (granted they’re missing gasol, but we’re missing a few ourselves).

live and die by the three, that’s what mike d’antoni is doing with our knicks right now.

i just hope the ball keeps bouncing well for us in the second half…

good effort by the boys, but we lost. Took a 21-3 team to the limit though, Phil said after the game that he thought the coaches were ready for a stern test, but the players maybe weren’t expecting it.

i hope these lee+curry for diaw+raja rumors aren’t true. Diaw IS more cap-friendly than Eddy but also extends a year longer – and Lee’s value is worth more than just deferring a year of Eddy’s contract (and not having to pay him a $50M contract extension).

steph’s chill, relaxing and strategizing his next move. i hope the rumors of post-Jan 1 buyout are true for everyone’s sake.

Junior scored 15 in his DLeague debut last night, WTG Patrick. =)

YOU-GOTTA HAVE-HEART! MILES – AND – MILES OF HEART!

Yeah, we have lots of heart.Loved our effort and am 100% behind us.My bytch is can we do better?

“Lakers coach Phil Jackson said D’Antoni’s speedball style can win a championship, even though the Lakers coach owns a completely different coaching philosophy.

“They’re playing free, open, confident basketball,” Jackson said.”

Well, Phil, you have guys on the Lakers who run as well as ours.In fact last year you were right there and came up against a bigger team that played great defense. What did you do?Not what did you say,WHAT DID YOU DO?You went, got bigger and better DEFENSIVELY.And where did you learn this winning philosophy of yours. We know Phil. You’ve lauded Red Holzman to the skies, as you rightly should!Actually, running and spreading the floor is not a new PHILosophy.I notice we are trying to make THE EXTRA PASS to the OPEN MAN, that’s something not totally unknown to Nyers who have been around the block. But that’s where we part company. How big was that lead going into the 3rd quarter?Didn’t we all know two things. One, the Lakers would come back.Pro ball is a game of surges, and two, over 48 minutes you will shoot your average most of the time, meaning it’s almost impossible to shoot unconsciously for 48 minutes.Where does this team differ from the better % shooting championship teams and the one we have?Well, we don’t defend as well.Anyone who understands defense knows it’s all effort and intelligence. We seem to have both, but only want to use it on one side of the floor. If we defended better that 3rd quarter Laker comeback might have failed and our lead held up.It’s that simple.Coach Mike doesn’t want to hire a defensive coach (See Phoenix). He deems that insulting.Well, Coach Holzman, Coach Jackson, The Celtics, Cavs, Suns and Spurs coaches don’t seem to be similarly insulted. They just quietly whip our asses and tell the papers how much better we are.WE ARE BETTER, credit is due you for what you have achieved. We play harder and Duhon may be our best player simply because he is our best leader, and a reflection of your will to win.And yeah, by some miracle you might someday actually win the chip. After all, anything can happen. But the numbers don’t lie.Look at all the stats for winning teams over the years. If you don’t defend you won’t win.The pity of it all is you don’t have last years crew who couldn’t defend, your crew could, if that’s what you wanted. It’s on you to make those decisions.Sure your style is entertaining, but winning it all is the epitome of it all. What did KG say last year,”What you have to say now? Now, ”THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT!
PS. I love N*, but I really respect Duhon. He’s my KNICK MVP, great heart, great motor, a glue guy and a leader. And a good defender, but…Coach, you’re not being fair to Nate.Sure the guy is instant offense. He’s a fabulous talent, but guys his size can’t last at the 2 in the League very long.If he loses a step due to injury, age whatever. If his athleticism is diminished in some way he’s becomes only a short guy who once could.Nate needs to work on his point skills if he’s going to be in this thing for a while. He was doing pretty well at learning it until his role changed to Instant Offense!AI is the only small guy who seems to have survived for 10 years plus at the 2 with small size, and a great heart.Again N8 was making good progress at the 1 but now seems to be going into the Vinny microwave mode. He’s capable of more, and deserving of more.Let his point skills develop.Muggsy lasted double digits yrs.N8 is WORTHY.He deserves more than being thrown under the bus because one day he may lose an offensive step.He could also be a hell of a defender in many defensive schemes.Of course, first you have to want to play some D.My son was watching the game and said, “Wow, if we only had Ariza back”. My answer was he’d probably be sitting somewhere next to Balkman because his jumper is weak.Anyhow, congratulations on two very good moral victories. You deserve them. What’s up next, doc?LGK

Saipan

The Knicks play offense more consistenly and depending on whether the three ball is hitting on the regular, they have the capacity to blow out teams and compete with the leagues elite.

But when them 3 shots don’t fall, and the Knicks lose their offensive balance and launch threes instead of going inside and or continue to passing to open up high percentage shots, the Knicks are vulnerable.

Yesterday the 3s that fell in the first half against the lakers, the passes that resulted in high percentage shots left the knicks for most of the 2nd half, alas there went the game against the Lakers.

Still it was an entertaining game, and if the Knicks can take the positives from that showing and bring it with them against the Bucks and going forward the Knicks should be ok and be in the mix for a playoff seed.

On point O&B!

Galinari will help with the shooting wen he gets healthy…I also think the O will improve even more when AL and TT become fully intergrated and everyone is comfortable.. The coaching staff needs to prod AL H,Q, Ill Wil and TT to drive more and post up as well,,, to put pressure on the other teams interior defenders…yet the way they are progressing and meshing they should be in the mix as you say

Saipan Cumbaya man Cumbaya!

I’m happy with the competitiveness of this Knicks squad.

Alot of things to work on. But then again this is the first year of this incoming regime.
