Duhon to decide today, Ellis probably not going anywhere

July 3, 2008 – 9:49 am

The latest word out of Orlando has the Magic offering free agent Chris Duhon a three-year deal worth $10 million as opposed to New York’s offer of $7 million over two years.

Would you rather throw alley-oops to Dwight Howard or be a point guard in Mike D’Antoni’s 7-second offense?

The kicker for Duhon of course would be PT: in Orlando he’d be backing up starting point guard Jameer Nelson, and in New York, he’d presumably start, should Stephon Marbury be bought out or traded.

In any case, Duhon will probably make his decision today, or worst-case by tomorrow.

Looks like a coin-toss. Anyone think Mike D’Antoni is asking coach K for some leverage right about now? Not sure how much leverage your college coach has when you’re a pro signing contracts for millions of dollars.

Who would be next on the point guard list should the Knicks not get their guy? Probably Carlos Arroyo, the backup point guard the Magic are seeking to replace with–you guessed it–Chris Duhon.

Also, with Baron Davis leaving for the Clippers, apparently the Warriors will have enough cap space to resign Monta Ellis.

  2. KnicksD, I don’t have a problem w/Arroyo….in fact, I prefer him over Duhon. I always liked his game and his moxie.

This is a cat who never really got an opportunity to call a team his own. He plays with a chip on his shoulder, and I really feel he’d reward the person who gave him chance with the “keys”. I think he has the b-ball IQ to drive this Knick vehicle.

And for no other reason, it would put Steph’s azz on notice.

What did you think of my suggested trade?

    I Know… I Know no coveting but!

    New York …

Trades to LA Zach Randolph and Ronaldo Balkman

gets from LA Odom, and Mihm

    NY Trades to Sacramento…

David Lee, Malik Rose, and Jared Jefferies

    gets Mike Miller from Sacramento

    Sacramento fowards to LA

    Ron Artest

    LA Fowards to Sacramento

    Trevor Ariza.

    Here is my reasoning…

Sacramento loses Artest who is not to thrilled to be in Sac town, and who is rumored not to be wanted in Sactown anylonger.

They get a solid double double guy in Lee, an expiring contract in Rose, A long defensive glue guy in Jefferies, and a young

athletic Wingman in Trevor Ariza from Los Angeles.

LA gets Artest the shut down player on the wing that could neutralize Paul Pierce, should they meet them again the Finals,

They get a tough 20-10 rebounder in Zach Randolph who will likely benefit from being on a team with strong leadership,

lastly the Lakers can groom Ronaldo Balkman as Artest’s defensive lock down heir apparent.

The Knicks in losing Lee and Randolph replenish their front cour by getting a versatile 4 who could thrive under D’antoni

and a solid rebounder, midrange jump shooter and intangibles payer in Brad miller from La and Sacramento. La also throws in

Mihm as filler who would be mor servicable than the big stiff Jerome James. By Acquiring Miller, Odom, and Mihm the Knicks

get players whose contracts expire in 2010, and dump players like Z-Bo, and Jefferies whose contract extends beyond that

    date.

As I said before I checked the trade on the Real GM trade check and it goes through.

I hope the Knicks consider this scenario.

  4. what’s up BX and O&B?

So you guys think Arroyo can be the man running the show in New York? I’m down if Mike D and Walsh go for it.

    more on the Duhon situation.

  5. Another Duhon link .I would prefer Duhon over Arroyo.Think Duhon has better range on his 3-point shot.

I would rather start if I were in that situation. How else can you show your skills by playing only 10-15 minutes a night.Doesn’y every Ball player want to start?I know I loved starting in High School.I would not want to sign to be a second this young in my career. He has plenty of time to think Championships.

    You really love that trade!

Yes, we would be clearing cap room, dumping some bad contracts.BUT,Mihm,Miller & Odom don’t make me wanna stay up late at night to watch a west coast game.Odom, maybe he needs another system,BUT he hasn’t lived up to his talents in LAC,Miami or LAL. He was a complete NO-SHOW in the finals.Kobe needed a Scottie Pippen and he didn’t answer the bell. What does Mihm have? And Miller is no show stopper either.
