Heir to the point: Chris Duhon from Chi-town?
June 30, 2008 – 12:32 pmFree agency opens up tomorrow, and the Knicks are rumored to be meeting with free agent Chris Duhon and his representation about coming to New York to run the show.
It should be noted that in recent years, Duhon has been punished several times for missing Bulls team practices.
The Knicks may look very different come November–if Walsh and D’Antoni have their say.

So where in that highlight vid does it show that he can pass ?????
By JohnQ on Jun 30, 2008
i hear that johnq. that was the only highlight real i was able to conjure up from youtube.
between he, gordon and hinrich, though, i’ve heard that duhon was the true point while the others were more of two guards.
who knows, maybe they’ll go for hinrich or the guy on the bobcats, ray felton.

Bulls can use some low post scoring and we got Zach. Maybe Donnie can work something out. Tyrus Thomas, Hinrich could be a start.
By rush on Jun 30, 2008
On the other hand, after all the bullshit about Isiah’s trades with Bulls, they suck and we suck so maybe we should just stop dealing with those aholes.
By rush on Jun 30, 2008
Its official the word “bullshit” as related to Knicks means taking Bull’s shit off their hands.
By rush on Jun 30, 2008
@Rush
Zach makes 48 million in the next 3 years. It is really hard to find a trade where the numbers match and a teaam who wants a guy who can’t play defense. We are stuck.

Heard on the radio ESPN’s Mark Stein that Baron Davis will opt out this year. No word on wether he’ll resign with GS.
Also Elton Brand will opt out but according to reports on ESPN, he intends to resign with the Clippers.

Orange and Blue:
check out tommy dee’s Knicks Blog, link to it at the right of this page.
they are hoping for stromile swift as the MLE and are also thinking of ray felton for david lee would be a good summer. if brown told jordan to get d.j. augustin, that means brown wants him to run the show, and felton is the odd man out.
but do you think larry brown is in any hurry to help out james dolan’s situation?
looks like the two leading candidates are ray felton and chris duhon, but Baron Davis is an upgrade over either. the only problem with davis, despite being one of the best playoff performers in recent years, is: health. can he stay healthy? can he play close to 82 a game?
i know jordan likes walsh though. part of that north carolina fraternity that is all over this league. that’s why kenny smith could wind up the gm of this team once walsh feels comforatable enough with erasing some of isiah’s biggest mistakes. that process could take up to 2010.

Jerome James, not willing to do the slightest to help the Knicks and basically the second worst knick during the 21st century:
http://www.newsday.com/sports/basketball/ny-spknix015748088jul01,0,7948383.story
don’t take a condo in NYC after your NBA career is over Jerome, you’ll be hearing those boos for the rest of your natural born life. Charles Smith still does, and he was easily a better Knick than you will ever be regardless of what happens from this point on.
…i like to believe i helped alan out on this article, since he was “surprised” by the name of Chris Duhon yesterday during his “live chat.”

Thanks for the updated info and pointers on where I can find additional sources.
I tend to think it is the indy blogs like yours, and fanatics where some original an novel angles on favorite club exists. Our blogs aren’t beholden to any power or persons, and that’s the good thing b/c Knicks fans need neutral, albeit passionate voices, to question the powers that be.
Keep on keeping on bruh!

thanks Orange and Blue. I appreciate the kind words, thanks for still reading the blog.
check out what Nash was just quoted as say:
“I think Mike’s going to be great for New York,” said Nash, who played for D’Antoni in Phoenix. ”For the Knicks and the city, this is the center of basketball in many ways. It’s such a great basketball city and the struggles the Knicks have had have been painful for the fans. I think Mike’s going to be fantastic. They’re going to play a little bit different style than they’re used to here in New York. It’s probably been a few years since they got up and down the way he’ll want them to, but he’s such a talented and intelligent coach I think he can’t help but have a great impact on the team.”
Time will tell if he’s right.
Who’s coaching the summer league team?
By knicksdefense on Jul 1, 2008
KnicksD
One Love! The Knicks… we’ll maybe two considering many a blogger has a significant other.
But anyhow.
While I don’t know who will coach our pups this summer league I do know that there was breaking news from 1050.
Check it out…
Andrew Marchand of 1050 ESPN radio just reported on Kellerman’s show that Chris Duhon is meeting with the Knicks right now and could sign with the Knicks as early as today.
By Orange and Blue on Jul 1, 2008
Orange and Blue
I had a feeling that they might sign him this week (verbally, they can’t do the paperwork until the 8th I believe) when I wrote about the meeting. Alan Hahn thinks it has something to do with Coach K and Coach D’Antoni TEAM USA. The way walsh keeps saying “its going to be a long summer,” makes you think the knicks will be active in acquisitions (draft, free-agency, trades) and also in buy-outs (james and/or marbury).
these two guys want to win. d’antoni is as competitive as they come, you don’t have Kobe Bryant wearing #8 in honor of your game UNLESS you are a bad ass mofo. We’re talking about the MVP of the NBA having been inspired by what you used to do on the basketball court.
and i credit walsh for giving us a good fight in the 90’s with that Mark Jackson, Dale Davis, Antonio Davis, Reggie Miller, Chuck Person, Rick Smits-based team.
Kind of makes you wonder if coach K said “well Coach D’Antoni, you take my boy Duhon and I’ll let you recruit some of Team USA’s finest for your new Knicks squad.”
Okay, I know the preceding was more conspiracy theory, hey, just bloggin’. But let’s just say there is a lot of back-scratching in the NBA. How else did Jackie Butler find his way onto the Spurs?
O&B: I added ESPN Radio as one of the Knicksdefense blogroll links for easy access.
I remember many years ago I was listening to it in the car the day that Isiah traded for stephon marbury and penny hardaway. that was an exciting night, “stephon’s coming home!” Who could have known it was going to end like this (answer: Mike and the Mad Dog). that seems like a long time ago, but I’m glad they allow online streaming so that we can listen in at any time from anywhere there is a live internet connection.
I love the quote from Dick Vitale the night of the draft, “D’antoni, Gallinari, sounds like a great Italian restaurant in New York City, but I tell you this: the kid better be able to play.”
I’ve got nothing but respect and admiration for Dick Vitale.

the reason I have a problem with Berman saying Lee could be used to get Ellis is because they already have Biendris, who is almost a taller, longer, clone of what David Lee does on the basketball court.

Unless you can get a 7-0 starter at center who can get you at least 15 and 10 or a point guard who can score 15-20 points per game and 8 to ten assists per game, I wouldn’t trade Lee. Thomas built a flawed Knicks team. Too many forwards, lazy and overrated centers Eddy and Jerome and a point guard (who thinks he’s the best guard in NYC, but isn’t even the best guard on 33 street in NYC.
By ed drossman on Jul 1, 2008
@KnicksD
It seems that Baron Davis has agreed to join The Clippers. That would probably force GSW to hold on to Monta Ellis.
Hey, I’m on board with Duhon if it works. I don’t think he will take the first offer of 2years-3million(half the MLE)seeing he was making 3.248million last year.Other teams could offer him a longer deal.We need to start higher(4million).
By D L T Knicks on Jul 1, 2008
whats up DLT Knicks? I wonder if Golden State will match that offer from the clippers. there was an article published today that the clippers’ second choice after baron davis was/is Jamal Crawford. think walsh is actively shopping jamal?
off topic:
why does ron artest always sound so conflicted? one day after not opting out, he regrets it?? What’s wrong with his decision making process? sounds like billy donovan.

Check out this trade I ran through the RealGM Trade checker.
New York …
Trades to LA Zach Randolph and Ronaldo Balkman
gets from LA Odom, and Mihm
NY Trades to Sacramento…
David Lee, Malik Rose, and Jared Jefferies
gets Mike Miller from Sacramento
Sacramento fowards to LA
Ron Artest
LA Fowards to Sacramento
Trevor Ariza.
I believe this trade makes sense for all involved but please smack me down if you disagree.
Here’s the RealGM TradeChecker Link
http://www.realgm.com/src_tradechecker/4/
Perhaps We can try to keep Balkman as a safetynet in case Wilson Chandler isn’t 100 percent.
Feedback suggestion?
By Orange and Blue on Jul 1, 2008
@KnicksD
Yes, I have read that Walsh is actually shopping Jamal……..Zach and EC too.I would not want Cuttino Mobley in exchange. They both make about the same amount of money,Mobley’s contract ends a year earlier than Crawford. But,if their plan is to clear money for LBJ, I don’t like that plan! What if he doesn’t choose the Knicks?
2 years of waste for nothing.
By D L T Knicks on Jul 1, 2008
O & B
Why would Lakers take that Odom for Randolph based deal? WHat does Randolph bring that they need. They too need tougher defense. I’m curious about the reasoning.
By Kevin Harewood on Jul 1, 2008
Harewood
The Lakers get Artest and Balkman. Artest is a shut down perimeter defender. Balkman could be groomed to use his high energy level to be Artest heir aparent.
Nuff said!

the offer the knicks gave to duhon was over $7 million over two years.
