Gunnin’ for that #1 Spot

This documentary by one of the Beastie Boys was released in the U.S. this Friday. I will be watching it as part of my summer movie must-sees. Among others, it stars recent lottery picks such as Michael Beasley, Kevin Love and Jerryd Bayless when they were still high school players. It is narrated by Bobbito Garcia–yo Bobbito, I’m still mad they gave your halftime celebrity inteview job to that girl, whatever her name is…

I wonder, if Donnie Walsh had got a sneak peak in time, would his draft choice have been any different?

Just bloggin’.

Orange and blue: my consipracy theories (yes agreed, that’s what they are) are based on speculation as to why isiah is still with the organization. you tell me why he should still be with the knicks when layden was justifiably let go. for real, tell me why he earned the right to be kept on with the knicks. what went right while he was here?

my motivation for writing that post was based on the recent articles being published with isiah reporting back to walsh that he likes Gallinari’s game (a link was provided in the original post), compounded with previous articles stating that walsh wanted to get someone else but was talked into Gallinari by D’antoni.

bottom line: gallinari has nothing to do with isiah in my eyes, and i really hope it stays that way.

when you think Crawford, Marbury, Larry Brown, Jerome James, Jared Jeffries, Jackie Butler, Randolph Morris, Quentin Richardson, Renaldo and Nate, and so on, then you can bring up Isiah.

Gallinari is the first Knick player post-Isiah, it has to be that way.

“New York Knicks Grade: A-

Round 1: Danilo Gallinari (6)

Round 2: None

Analysis: With the Knicks’ three favorite backcourt players gone — Derrick Rose, O.J. Mayo and Russell Westbrook — new Knicks president Donnie Walsh did the right thing.

Gallinari is a talent and one of the few guys in the draft who could really be special someday. Those who are bashing the pick because Gallinari is a project should do their homework. Gallinari was the team leader on an Italian Euroleague team — and the Euroleague is much more competitive than the NCAA. Euroleague teams scrimmage NBA teams in the preseason and beat them from time to time. The fact that Gallinari has starred there at such a young age suggests that he’s more ready than most of the freshmen rushing into the league. And with Mike D’Antoni coaching him, you can bet the Knicks will play to his strengths.

Gallinari has weaknesses — he has so-so lateral quickness and lacks muscle. I’m not sure he’ll ever turn into Dirk Nowitzki, to whom he’s been compared. And the Knicks still have a long way to go in the rebuilding process.

But this was a good start for the Knicks. If they can use David Lee to get a legit young point guard, they’ll keep moving in the right direction.”
