“This is about the fifth or sixth workout I’ve done, and this one was more about getting up and down the court than any of the others,” said Randolph. “Pretty much all of the teams are trying to get up and down during the workouts, but it was much more emphasized here.”

Love agreed with his fellow freshman forward.

“Today was a lot of up-and-down play and a lot of three-on-three,” said Love, who shed 15 pounds preparing for pre-draft workouts to prove he could be part of an up-tempo offense. “The only other time I played three-on-three was at the Memphis, but we only went about one or two games. Here we played about five or six games. And we went full-court, so we had to do a lot of fast break stuff, and things that really fit into D’Antoni’s offense.

When in doubt, check Knicks.com when the MSM isn’t invited to the pre-draft party.

that article was ok but the nets won’t trade carter for curry + trash no way in hell. also I think marbury could prove to be useful in his contract year. I like the tjford trade scenario and that seems reasonable for both teams.
lineup could be
curry
lee
qrich
marbury
tj ford
with main bench contributors being chandler, anthony randolph, balkman, collins, nate, etc

“I saw that the Knicks had the sixth pick, and that was pretty intriguing to me,” he said. “It’s the city that never sleeps, and you’re on the grandest stage in the world at Madison Square Garden. That’s big time.

“I really can’t say enough how huge it would be to play here. It’s the biggest stage in basketball. I don’t care where you’re at in the world, it’s Madison Square Garden and I think that everybody that comes in here would say the same thing. It means a lot. I think the Knicks had about 18,000 people each game last season, and they didn’t have the best year in the world, so that says a lot about the organization and the fans. And I really think this is a team that is on its way up. The basketball world needs the Knicks to be great, and with Donnie and Coach D’Antoni they are clearly on the right path.”

Guess who?

4 Tman June 17, 2008 at 3:41 pm

Kind of like Augustine and Joe Alexander, but would trade down for them. One is too small and the other too raw at 6,but they can both ball.I could live with either down a little lower.Quote above is Kevin Love, a FRESHMAN with a brain and a game.Probably will be gone by 6,but if he’s available, e’s the one!LGK

@KnicksD,

Good find on “Fixing the Knicks” article. But, do we really want an old,worn-out Vince Carter?I can see trying to trade Curry or Zach, but we don’t need more old bad contracts for players who are half the players they were.I like the idea of bring in T.J.Ford,but let’s wait to see if we can get the PG we want first.Buy out Steph, find.Trade Crawford, won’t lose any sleep over it.I think the Knicks FIRST need someone of great character and talent to be a leader on and off the court.Find THAT guy!!!!

We don’t need a bunch od rethreads unless there hungry and come in three’s ala the Celtics big three type scenario.

Congratulations Boston, Kevin Garnett, Doc Rivers, Tom Thibodeau, and the Celtics Team.

Congratulations Celtic’s fans,… real Celtic’s fans. Those who cheered when the team was sorry in the 90′s and always came up short in the mid to early period of this decade.

I can cheer for real fans anywhere not band wagon jumpers. You get no soup from me!

O&B

I feel what you are saying
But I am going to take the Derrick Coleman route and say ”

whoop de damn do!”

The only thing I respect about the Celtics(Organization) is
1 Red’s guts in starting an all black five in 64
and drafting the first black player in the L circa 1950

2 the perserverance of men like Russell,Tom Sanders, the Joneses et al for enduring the climate in Boston(not the weather) with dignity in a crucial point in history

I think the Knicks will select either a 1 guard or a guy with a jumper and mobility that can play the 3,4 and five postions

Saipan

I like you hate the Celtics, more b/c of their fanbase. Privileged Elitist of the Majority Ethnic/racial persuausion who like to come off as victims when people of their ilk have never really been historical victims.

But I can’t hate on KG or Doc or Thibodeau.

You have to admit the script was written for them to get to the Finals- alot of suspect calls and no calls or non actions during the Eastern Conference Playoffs clearly favored them.

And I’ll even say that Stern F’d up the NBA Finals by favoring the Lakers over the Spurs in the Conference Finals. I think had San Antonio gotten to the Finals the series goes to 7 and maybe just maybe the Spurs steal the final game at boston garden.

The Boston Fans for the most part are bandwagon jumpers. They don’t get my respect. To those who endured as we are now enduring they have my tacit respect. And that’s all I’ll give them.

I also agree with you on who the Knicks will likely pick, in terms of roster spots. Heck if we nab someone in one of those spots we might try to trade some of our players for late 1st rounders or early 2nd rounders to teams looking to fill needs. Hope we have a turnaround draft and trade showing this off season.

9 D L T Knicks June 18, 2008 at 12:31 pm

Didn’t see this coming from Artest.

..And I’m only happy for KG and Doc…not Boston, especially NOT for P.J.Brown.

10 JohnQ June 18, 2008 at 1:12 pm

Another Beantown title………….woopee. Good for KG, F the rest.

When’s the draft again ?

Will Tom T have a new job next season after Boston’s win ? We should have waited on this guy.

11 Orange and Blue June 18, 2008 at 1:38 pm

If the Knicks of the early to mid 90 could have played the zone that Thibodeau used against Kobe, Jordan wouldn’t have gone that three peat run.

Oh well!

12 saipanknickster June 18, 2008 at 4:07 pm

I am lukewarm at best regarding getting a ring. I was turned by his teliing the media that
Steph quit(after the Beantown blowout on national TV) I actually agreed with him, but he should have kept his
commnets to himself, just like Ray Allen with his comments about Kobe(when Kobe was facing the allegations)I am also not really a fan of his preening when he gets a block …I know he leaves it all on the floor.

I wonder who in the Celtics organization is gonna have the guts to speak up on the behalf of Kevin McHale when it comes time to vote on celtic playoff shares?

13 Orange and Blue June 18, 2008 at 5:23 pm

True Dat Saipan!

Kevin McFail gave a tremendous hook up to the Boston Celtics.

Stern let’s these suspect trades happen, forces the Mavs to take a piss poor trade.

Screws the Spurs who would have been a much better match up against Boston.

All…

To get his DREAM FINALS!

Poo on David Stern!

He shafted the fans out of a what would have been a highly competitive San Antonio Spurs v. Boston Celtics Finals.

Orange and Blue:

That’s life. When Isiah played, he wasn’t a fair player, neither was Stockton. Isiah used to step on player’s feet when they took shots, he did what ever it took to win, whether it was legal or illegal.

That’s the NBA. The two teams that got to the finals were the strongest, regardless of how it came to be so.

It just so happens that nobody with power in the NBA likes Isiah enough to hook him up the way Danny Ainge got hooked up by McHale. That’s why Isiah got kicked to the curb in the end. Not even Joe Dumars wants to do business with Isiah.

15 saipanknickster June 18, 2008 at 9:59 pm

San Antonio vs. Boston.hmmmmmmmmmmmm I might have watched that

Well fellas we are one week away from seing who the new regime likes……..
I’ll bet there will be a trade as well

That same link you provided included the following story.

‘We have, it appears, our first known promise of the draft. Multiple sources say that UCLA’s Westbrook has shut down all workouts and has a promise in the mid-lottery range.

Apparently the promise isn’t coming from the Knicks. They like Westbrook at No. 6, but they’re also looking at Mayo, Bayless, Alexander and Eric Gordon.

The promise isn’t coming from the Bucks or Pacers; neither team was able to get him in for a workout.

That leaves the Clippers at No. 7 and the Bobcats at No. 9. As noted above, the Clippers are trying to move up to get Mayo, so I doubt it’s them. That leaves the Bobcats as the most likely to have made a promise to Westbrook.

One other possibility: The Seattle SuperSonics have taken a strong interest in Westbrook, according to sources. Although No. 4 is a little higher than expected for him to go, one source said it’s possible that the Sonics will trade down a few spots and take Westbrook.’

Seems like a scenario the Knicks should entertain in order to move up to the 4th slot in the draft.

O&B, my gut tells me if the knicks do any maneuvering on draft day, it will be down, because the teams with high picks (higher than the Knicks) probably will enjoy selecting from the cream of the crop.

TheLegacy, I think TJ might do well in New York. i think he is one of those players that flourishes in the garden. I know that’s what he did as a raptor against us in recent times. but i don’t know what d’antoni is thinking, if he wants a completely fresh player that he can mold, or someone with some proven abilities at the one. looks like toronto is giving his spot to jose calderon. that guy is probably going to blow up even more next year with extra minutes.

Tman, I give up, who said that homie?

DLT Knicks: yeah, vince has some miles on him, what percentage of his original hops do you think he’s still able to summon in the game? one of the last times i played ball i got into a discussion, somebody out there still thinks he can jump over people like frederick…

saipanknickster, I think you’re right on about the two kinds of players Walsh is looking for. time will tell. too bad the knicks aren’t spilling the beans about who they want, but perhaps that will work out to new york’s advantage somehow when draft day comes along.

JohnQ: I haven’t lost hope that Walsh will try to pickup Tom T. as the defensive coach to D’Antoni’s system. The Knicks have not formally announced the full coaching staff, although we know for the most part who is not welcomed back (anyone having to do with Isiah).

20 knicksdefense June 19, 2008 at 11:21 pm

video stream of some of the players the knicks have worked out in new york.

from espn:

The Knicks, Nets and Sixers are having a big group workout on Friday in New Jersey.

Joe Alexander and Roy Hibbert headline the bill. Alexander has already worked out for the Knicks and appears to be seriously in the mix, along with Russell Westbrook and Danilo Gallinari, at the No. 6 pick.

“Quote above is Kevin Love, a FRESHMAN with a brain and a game.Probably will be gone by 6,but if he’s available, he’s the one!LGK”

Give cred to the C’s!They look like San Anton in the mirror, except as I had noted before, San Anton was too small up front.Nocioni wasn’t enuff,Elston was a dud, and, unfortunately, Kurt just got a little too old and slow.Trading Luis Scola in training camp was another huge mistake. He could of helped. They need a big forward that can do it all, and make no mistake they will find one, but not in the draft.Maybe they have another Argentinian tucked away somewhere. That’s how they do.San Antone should be back one more time if Duncan is right, and he looks like he still has it.Sad part of this is we’re going the other way. We’re abandoning doing it “The right way” like the Spurs and C’s and going for the flash and dash of the west. That makes only short term sense,MONEY, unless you can get someone to play like Nash and Stoudemire. How long did that take? and they never won the big one, only threatened. We’ll see, NY is just a tough, tough place to reload, but Defense clearly wins, offense can be pretty offensive without the ONE brain.Kudos to the C’s,clearly Ainge did a tremendous job bringing in a bench to support the big three.I picked them against LA,but had Detroit, another bunch of defensive underachievers since LB left,to win the east.Well, at least I had Kansas.Russell Robinson would look good deep down on our bench. He is a project, but a tough great defender with length, and he will come free!LGK

22 BronxboyinMd June 20, 2008 at 11:23 am

Agree with you on Russell Robinson, Tman!!

He’s also a NYC kid…Rice HS..not that that matters, but his defensive toughness is definitely something we could use.

23 knicksdefense June 20, 2008 at 12:15 pm

this one is funny, they don’t even mention that the knicks might need to upgrade their PG soon:

http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=nba/news/news.aspx?id=4158525

check out the quote from alan:

http://www.nba.com/draft2008/overview/nyk.html

with that bit about wilson chandler, he should have mentioned that he injured his knee (a la Mardy Collins) in extra minutes towards the end of the season. that might have something to do with selecting an anthony randolph or a Gallinari over a guard. it is possible.

anthony randolph
zach randolph
randolph morris

yet there would probably be only one randolph on the knicks by november.

24 knicksdefense June 20, 2008 at 12:47 pm

eddy curry, 29th best center in the league last season.

http://www.sportsline.com/nba/playerrankings/regularseason/C

and the previous year, he was trying to make the all-star team when he was the first, second and third options offensively, being force-fed the ball.

two top ten lottery picks for him?

i wonder how he’ll fit in d’antoni’s system. all depends on his conditioning.

25 Tman June 20, 2008 at 12:57 pm

Kevin Love is Paul Milsap/Silas with an outside shot, not a bad thing. His center of gravity is low like Barkley, 255lb and he thinks the game, also not a bad thing.Remember he’s a freshman.Edie Curry’s weight issue has us gun shy. This kid is for real. You don’t go to the Final Four on potential.Look at the upside!Like the jump shooting Indiana kid too/a lot like Ben Gordon, but you’re gonna have to wait on him too. What does make some kind of sense is to trade down and then make a trade for Kurt Heinrich, Chicago won’t need him if they go Rose(That’s a mistake for them because they have Heinrich and are ready to make a push with Beasley). But Heinrich can make D’Antoni’s offense work. Not the fastest guy but a good decision maker and a tough defender. After the first 4 or 5 guys it’s just a guessing game based on potential. That’s what gets guys fired.D’Antoni understands you can’t win consistently with rooks.Look for some kind of trade.Hopefully, it won’t be done in desperation.Walsh has been patient so far. That’s good.Do you really believe he’ll bring back Artest, the guy who single handedly destroyed his championship contending Pacers no matter how much he may personally like the guy.Too great a risk factor for him.If Artest implodes so does Walsh’s career and legacy. That would be a very ballsy move on his part.I like it!TJ Ford is a nice player, but he gets hurt more than he plays, damaged goods.Trade for Heinrich, if possible. He ain’t happy there anyway. If Love/Mayo are gone look for a trade or trade down.Augustine is not The Answer, nuff said. He’ll take time.If he is all that he won’t be there at 6 anyway.Draft Love, trade for Heinrich!LGK

26 knicksdefense June 20, 2008 at 2:20 pm

Tman, how do you think Heinrich would fair at the point in D’Antoni’s system?

also, agreed on “TJ Ford is a nice player, but he gets hurt more than he plays, damaged goods.”

but its like Wilson Chandler, I’m thinking since they’re still young they can bounce back from injury and still produce.

27 D L T Knicks June 20, 2008 at 5:07 pm

@KnicksD

Percentage of hops left in VC=65%,on a good day and NOT for the whole game.AND that number was based on last year. The New York Knicks will always draw crowds in the seats. We don’t need yesterday’s news to do so.VC has 1 or 2 “so-so” years left.
