Tonight we find out where exactly the New York Knicks will pick in the 2008 NBA draft lottery this June. Again, we’ll be somewhere from 1-3 or 5-8, depending on the luck of the draw.

Let’s go Knicks!

Time to bring back some basketball magic to Madison Square Garden.

Knicks fans, I don’t want to spoil your fun…..but, I say, stop and think…..Knicks don’t need more offense, especially young offense. We are already a young enough team as it is. We need to somehow package a trade even if it includes the number six pick, to bring in some veteran defensive minded players that can also shoot and score the open jump shot. Knicks must be able to get stops when they are needed in the fourth quarter, otherwise games will continue to slip away in the coming seasons……we can’t stop anybody….and we absolutely must address the defensive problems of the team…..Knicks fans know this…knicks brass better know it too.

I kind of agree with Syd, If any of you have read last nite’s blog by Berman
he mentions that he feels that Walsh may package the pick with Randolph (berman admits it’s just his hunch)
this may not be a bad idea if we could get a long Shot Challenger that does not need to hold the ball on offense

the knicks could also trade for another player(that does not have a long term deal)
that would fit into Mike D’s style better

Good PM Defenders!

Never look a gift horse in the mouth, and despite our position, we should snag a top tier player if we play our cards right.

Since things aren’t Rosey in the NYC, we might catch another break and stumble on Bayless…The closet thang to Rose at the point in terms of BBALL skills, speed, agility, polished Shot, Great hops, he GOT GAME…But Westbrook is the Truth, and he’s stronger, already a better defender, and the POTENTIAL is off the CHARTS…Skill sets are errily similar except for their size….Two truly gifted and athletic points guards.

Each have the POTENTIAL to be game changers…

ONE LOVE

@KD,

I meant to mention, Regarding your post on the ITALIAN KID; with some strength and the right tutoring, he could be the steal of this year’s Draft down the pipe…His Skill Sets are very strong. This kid is A BABY too…Optimum PO!

6th pick. So much for frozen lottery balls. I’m all for keeping the pick if we can get a quality point or packaging it as a way to rid us of a big contract. I see that alot of the media are mentioning that as well but they all point to Zach as the one to be packaged. There are already teams showing interest in him (Denver, Milwaukee, Philly) without him being part of a package. What about using the pick to rid us of the heartless ever-over weight Curry ?

Partial repost;

“It made sense to bring in the most entertaining style of hooping to fill the next year or two before taking a huge stab (grab) at a superstar, like Lebron, who would make the league’s stock price zoom even higher if he joined a better team in waiting for him.A team that might actually have a chance of winning the big one.After all,we are not winning it all next year NO MATTER who we draft or trade for, exempting the premature arrival of Lebron or Kobe.Both those guys, understand the value of a mega-dollar and would be here in a heartbeat if it was possible.Well,at least it is a plan, if not one that satisfies the NYC hoopster purists who would prefer a team that plays some D.Sorry, that was the deal Mark!D’Antoni will have to make his biggest decision, as his forunners did, on Eddie Curry, the coach killer.Stephon can be easily resurrected or traded,it’s in his own best interests, which are his only interests apparently.How’s your Starbury line doing with the kids after all your me-first antics?Curry must drop 30 lb. and be rock hard after the summer to be of any use to a running team.Help him Mike!Get him a trainer, a nutritionist, a refrigerator lock,if he needs it,but hold him accountable.If he isn’t doing what he needs to,trade him to another dreamer.Keep his skinnier ass,or trade his fat one.All you need is a plan, a scale and a pair of eyes.Meanwhile, the Knick honeymoon will begin.Trade whoever you want to get more competitive but build that cap space and compatible team that our 2010 star can plug into.Don’t mortgage the future, but keep building that world viewer’s idea of a race horse winner.It will fill the seats and sell the cable subscriptions that make Cablevision’s stockholders tingle all over.”

Thanks so far Mr. Walsh and Mr. D’Antoni.It’s great to see somebody with a plan.Apparently, there are 15 or more quality prospects.This is where GMs lose their jobs because they have to make good choices and live, or die, with them.Accountability is a good thing!I like the slow thoughtful pace our new GM is taking.Rookies rarely help you right away.We can trade down a la Berman and probably get the guy we want anyway and some cap relief, or trade for someone who can help right away.So far,so good.It’s important to keep an eye on the big picture, being under the cap in 2010.Oscar left the Royals to play in Milwaukee with Kareem,they got a championship.Kareem forced a trade to get to LA so he could win another championship(s).This has happened before.If Lebron is unhappy in Cleveland and we look good…If you build it,HE will come.If I were the GM I would be looking to get guys who can play the right way and improve the team over the next two years.If the choices are right we will slowly but surely get better next year and after.A flashy rookie is attractive,but is he a team player? What is his skill set?who will he be in two to three years?does he want to win or just post numbers?In other words, mentally and emotionally how close to Tim Duncan, or Jordan is he?Then look at his game,his team’s record and his potential.Slow and steady wins the race.Eddie Curry is still the key,that’s whether he stays or goes.Personally I’m rooting for him, but if he isn’t working out right now in anticipation of D’antoni’s offense, I’d trade him in a heartbeat.Trade down, trade Zebo or Curry(If you don’t believe any more),see what’s up with Steph and don’t panic!Panic and wishful thinking buried Larry and Ike.
We’ll get better and then….LGK
