So, remember that unnecessary three-game win streak at the tail end of our 23-win season?

The Knicks would have tied Seattle’s 20-win record had they lost those three relatively meaningless games.

The 2008 lottery is scheduled for one week from today, on May 20, 2008 in Secaucus, New Jersey. The results are to be revealed on ESPN at 8:00-8:30 EDT. Here are the odds of winning it all.

(Remember, the Rockets got Yao with only the seventh best chance of winning it all, so there is hope for landing Derrick Rose-with some old fashioned luck)

    KD,
Thanks for the interview stuff yesterday. I’m very psyched about D’Antoni. The thing I’ve always admired about him is how the players respected him. Players like Steve Nash.

There is a class and professionalism with Walsh and D’Antoni that the Knicks haven’t seen for years. Since Riley really (I was never a fan of JVG).

They just seem like they will do things the right way. I’m sure he can adapt to the players. And they will methodically clean house, so going for ridiculous trades.

BTW, you should add to your draft stuff how little the worst teams actually win lottery. My secondary team, the Wolves won a lot of games that pushed them down to third. But for once they didn’t tank (unlike Miami and Seattle). So maybe the bball gods will shine on the Knicks and Wolves.

And while I love Rose the most, just think of what Beasley could do under D’Antoni. Scary.

meant to say “not going for ridiculous trades”

  • Good AM Defenders!

Great Stuff KNICKDEFENSE! Your NY Knick draft position is off a bit, but we appreciate your effort…LOL

As the blogs noted Scriptologist, I am a fervent believer that our NY Knicks will have their pick of the litter and the rebuilding process will begin. And, depsite Coach D’Antoni’s prostestations that he is coach that preaches Defense, and I do take him at his word, I believe the Donnie Boy will find a defense oriented coach to add to their bench.

Lastly, it was great to see posts from Syd, TMan, Kevin Harewood, MN Knick Fan, and Jazz. I enjoyed reading your posts and absorbing their insights. You’ve guys have been missed…Welcome Home Defenders…

    One Love!

    Keep it POPPIN!

    Hafa Adai(Chammoro greeting) Folks

I too enjoyed the press conference yesterday and really really hope that the coach adds a defensive guy to his staff, if they intend on making the playoffs I feel it is crucial the the squad lears what is needed to make stops @ the end of games. Even the 90’s Knicks did not play that tenacious D the whole game it took alot out of them. But I do hope we get that for balance.

It’s funny the media members that were poo pooing Donnies hire on Sunday and monday, neem seem to have dialed back the criticism after they were directlyin front of Mike D and saw his engaging aw shucks personality up close
    how hypocritical

Thanks for the Shout KnicksDefense, glad to see you are wella and holding down like a champ.

    Be well all

  • saipanknickster, yeah the only one i know of that was sold on d’antoni before the signing was berman, everyone else was pretty skeptical due to the roster.

but he’s here now, so I’ll support him and walsh and hope for the best. I liked that line about the media expecting d’antoni to turn it around by the third game of the preseason. that was a little jab back at the media to let them feel him from day one.

mn knicks fan, i hear you about not tanking, and here’s to the non-tankers getting what they deserve. I think maybe that’s what CooleyHigh was also talking about in #3, but still, it reminds me of the old Pat “tank city” Riley quote:

“in basketball, there is winning, and there is misery”

now despite only winning 33 games, we did have some great moments during Isiah’s first year as coach of the knicks. But in the second season, it was a whole lot of misery. so when the end of the season was coming, and I started to check out the top tier players leading up to the NC2A tournament, I started to think about the single benefit of all the games where we weren’t able to compete in for one reason or another: a high pick. The late 3-game win streak may have helped prove we were not tanking (sort of) but it also mathematically decreased our odds of taking the cake next week.

I’m not saying it is impossible, the numbers in the table above say little about luck. Speaking of luck, I heard we’re sending Mike D’Antoni to the lottery in Secaucus next week for some good luck.

Like Cooleyhigh said, it is great to welcome back some of the esteemed Knick bloggers like Saipanknickster, Minnesota Knicks fan, Syd, TMan, Kevin Harewood, and of course Jazz on here. thanks all for checking in, we missed your valued commentary, no doubt about it.

  • now why did you have to remind me of that 3 game winning streak Starbury!!!!

  • What’s up MODI, congrats on that killer new joint venture with StopMikeLupica.

  • JohnQ

my fingers are crossed for tuesday ! C’mon now, papa needs a new point guard ! Derrick Rose in 09.

  • I hear you JohnQ. Beasley looks nice too if D Rose is not still on the board. Also I know some of the ForceMD’s would like to see Mr. Love in orange and blue.

  • JohnQ

Beasley is tempting but he has attitude problems from what I hear. Do we need more of that on this team ? I think we have enough of those here already. We have to start w/ a PG/floor leader. I’m not a huge Crawford fan but I’m not in favor of duplicating what we have by drafting Rose unless we can trade Crawford for a solid PG.

  • JohnQ

Good to see you Modi ! I’m glad that this place is starting to fill up w/ the Garden faithful again. Welcome back all. Where the hell is Steady ???

    KnicksDefense,

I too am trying to lean on the positive, and give Mike D the benefit of time
I liked they way he handled the media with some of his playful responses, he’s been schooled about the mood here

I am looking forward to some roster tweaks and I hope somebody who cares has Eddy Curry on a treadmill, because truth is no matter if he stays or goes he needs to be in shape for once

Good to see that DLee is planning to hook up with Nash to learn this offense, I am concerned though that unless he has improved on his jumper Mike D might want him gone.

  • saipanknickster

At the end of the season I was truly shocked that the Knicks won some of those games that should have losses
