LeDunk

by knicksdefense on April 21, 2008

This has little to do with the Knicks (yet) but this dunk simply can not be ignored.

Gilbert Arenas, be careful what you ask for, pal.

Some really good games this weekend. The Suns-Spurs game especially.

It being Page 2, I’m surprised they didn’t list Isiah there, just ahead of Britney, with the comment that Dolan still has him on speed dial.

Cooleyhigh,

thanks. the season is over. i know there were some of us that disappeared for big stretches during the 23-59 season, but some of us were here blogging everyday since the preseason. talking about this knicks team in its current state has been exhausted. i look forward to the draft, but beyond that not much to write about. so i wish everyone good luck, even the people that have made many twisted threats against me (they in fact need the most help). i have to admit, when Isiah was kept on, it took a lot of wind out of my sail towards a new direction for this basketball team. this team will always be under dolan’s thumb. the “complete autonomy” walsh spoke of is just the latest crock of shit to come out of the garden.

there is hope if there is a high pick and artest this summer, plus a defensive coach, but again, not too much to blog about right about now.

Asswhola is at it again!

Now he’s citing unamed sources, and appears to be ending his honeymoon with Donnie Walsh.

Check out this blurb from his article, the full piece of shyt can be read at the following hyperlink.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/2008/04/21/2008-04-21_isiah_thomas_is_not_fired_just_banned.html

“One report, citing an unnamed source who was with Walsh during Friday’s conference call in which Walsh officially removed Thomas as coach, suggested that the new team president mocked a reporter’s question as to whether Van Gundy would be a candidate. According to the source, Walsh made a gesture with a fake pen and pretended to write Van Gundy’s name as if he were adding the former Knick coach to a make-believe list.

If the source is suggesting that Walsh was never going to consider Van Gundy for the job, it makes Walsh look bad on many levels. Why would Walsh ridicule the third- winningest coach in franchise history, who also happens to be the people’s choice for the job, and yet go out of his way to publicly praise Thomas, who was arguably the worst coach in team history and despised by fans?

Also, if Walsh was just paying lip service to the suggestion that Van Gundy is a candidate, was he also not being forthcoming when he said that Dolan “absolutely had no input” with the decision to reassign Thomas?

Either way, Walsh learned a lesson about trusting this organization as he tries to familiarize himself with employees. Walsh seems sincere about wanting to revamp the club’s notorious media policy, yet less than a month into the job he already has been embarrassed twice by his own staff.

Ten days ago, his interview with reporters was documented by a media relations official without Walsh’s knowledge. This week, a private moment was leaked as a way to humiliate Van Gundy, but it instead made Walsh look petty and vindictive.

Moreover, Van Gundy has been effusive in his praise of Walsh and even eliminated a potentially awkward situation by essentially saying on Saturday that he had no interest in returning to coaching and that Jackson was the right – and only – man for the Knicks’ job.”

Is Asswhola not the homo version of that chick from the show Dirt?

O&B:
isola is the same guy that checked the flight records of the team plane before the knicks hired walsh. he’ll basically do anything for a dramatic story. the van gundy crap isn’t worth the ink, but i suspect isola had to come up with something, so he did.

it does bother me that it seems mark jackson is the ONLY candidate to replace isiah, just like walsh was THE ONLY candidate to replace isiah. this is a big league, there are plenty of options out there for both gigs, but again, it looks like this team is still in dolan’s pocket, so how much positive change this team can undergo during this offseason will definitely have a “cap” on it going forward.

9 knicksdefense April 22, 2008 at 11:40 am

i don’t think mark will do a bad job as coach. back when he was still playing he had a strong desire to coach and play at the same time, something that never happens in the nba anymore, but everyone knows for all of jackson’s offensive talent running the point in new york and indiana, he was kind of a weak defender, and this team was probably one of the worst defensive teams in the league last year.

“Thomas does not have an official title. He reports directly to Walsh, who said no player brought up Thomas’ name during last week’s exit meetings Thursday.”

KnicksD

I like you am willing to give the Walsh regime a chance to prove or disprove itself.

I also find it nauseating that Jackson is the only candidate. I would really like to hear about Thibodeau getting a chance. We really need a hard nosed defensive oriented coach in here to forge the team with a defensive work ethic going foward. At the very least I would like to hear about Thibodeau get interviewed for a staff position with the incoming head coach, whomever that may be.

You know what I think was the one of the Knicks problems…

The team went from a hard ass coach, who screwed it up (some would say intentionally), to a softee laze fare coach (some would also say messed up intentionally).

The team needs a continuous approach by personnel with gumption, and defensive orientation to forge them into contenders. That might piss off the players but it’s sorely needed in these parts.

Besides, don’t ride Isola for doing things like checking the jet’s records. That’s just good reporting: these guys make a living at digging.

That said, I’m a little surprised he’s making a big deal out of the Van Gundy remark. It was a cheap thing to say, but really, what team is going to re-hire a coach who quit just a few years ago? It’s not like Jeff’s the only qualified candidate.
