Mark Jackson quits Nets gig on-air
Could this be the ultimate indicator that Jax will be hired by Donnie Walsh to coach the New York Knicks?
He quit on the air?! And Yes network had no idea? Sounds a bit odd like Riles faxing in his letter of resignation. Walsh Traded for Jackson back when his Pacer days began, plus I smell Jimmy Dolan in all this–you know he still has beef with Marv Albert after all this time.
I don’t expect Donnie Walsh to take too long to announce Isiah’s fate, whether he stays on the Knicks or goes. It really looks like he is going though. Especially the way they depicted Isiah on MSG last night. It was almost like a eulogy, the way Breen, Clyde and Pearl spoke of him during his tenure the past four-plus years. And then they’d zoom into a close up of Isiah, then cut immediately to Donnie Walsh who was sipping on a Coke from the stands–he looks mighty comfortable for a guy who just got off the plane.
Could Mark Jackson be the next legendary point guard to try and get through to Marbury? Ol’ Donnie Walsh knows the answer to that burning question and more…

I remember when they used to list the eastern conference teams on the left hand side, and the west on the right. I also remember when the Knicks used to make the playoffs, although that was years ago. Can’t believe Golden State didn’t make the cut, they won 48 games, but 8th place went to 50-game winning Denver. Here is how 2008 has shaken down. Can’t wait for the NBA action–it’s fan-tastic. Cavs-Wizards–hurt ‘em LeBron!

I’m dying to see who makes the cut and who is shown the door. It’s spring cleaning time baby !
KD,
@39 from the previous post…….
When he comes back it could be Bynum, Gasol and Odom, but I think u are on the money at the moment.
K-berg with a solid NBA update.
I’ll take Mark Jackson and Pat Ewing, Herb Williams and Oakley as his assistants, but I think Bill Laimbeer has more of a coaching resume.
JohnQ,
the lakers have been missing their complete front line for a good majority of the season, but yeah, they are up there, especially considering they still got the #1 seed in the tough-as-nails west without said healthy frontcourt.
and they have this year’s MVP, Kobe, in the back court along with euros in a euro-friendly floppin’ league.
they rebuilt that team in no time. i remember when they sucked it was just a few years ago, and we thought we’d get kobe, now they’re the top seed thanks to that memphis trade.
i have no idea who will come out on top in the west.
Good AM Defenders!
@KD, BIG UPS to YOU for adding the Fanatics link to your site. Forgiving and Letting Go and Moving on is the straightest path to FREEDOM…You know you have always had my repsect and admiration for what you have done here @KD and continue to do. @VICC
What up my MAN! I’ve got some HOMIES on the Left Coast who describe Lopez’s game as attractive and with some hard work a good upside, but by ALL accounts, believe KLOVE has some tools and the HEART that reminds them of McHale…And, these Kats are NBA Beat Writers in LA and Sac-Town…Now they could be wrong, but I know what I have ssen with my own eyes too of BOTH, and I tend to agree that KLOVE is the better player.. But VICC only time will tell, because we have no control over this stuff…LOL LOL LOL
@JohnQ
I was not surprised by you comments regarding African and Peaceman, and you’ll get no lecture from me, but I understand more clearly as I read both THREADS why my BOY STEADY said what he said to me off line. And he’s right, the really SOLID relations have been established and continue to grow and they do so OFF LINE and maybe that’s where WE should stay. Have you noticed our Good Man, A Solid Citizen of the World, A Deep Thinker, and most GRACIOUS SCHOLAR & GENTLEMAN, has not posted in awhile…Due to comments like yours and so many others, and all of this bickering….Senseless, and in your case…I won’t go there it is a waste of my valuable time…
@STEADY,
You know how I feel about you, and you know how the REST OF THE FORCE MD’S/DC’S and POSTERS feel about you too, and we repsect your right ‘To Be Still, and Wait on the Renewal of your CENTER’, cause I’m with you, the really good fellowship has taken place FACE TO FACE….And, WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO…
STEADY AS IT GOES, you know what I’m talking about…ONE LOVE!
Keep it POPPIN!
One Love Cooley, back at cha!!!!! Action Jackson will be in the house soon. Starbury will bow down to the original Queensbridge Balla/Shot-Calla, holla!!!
@ VC..
What makes you think “Action Jackson” (BTW, I hated that movie) will be able make Starbury “bow down” as you say, when others, including Hall of Famers Isiah Lord Thomas, Larry Brown, and Lenny Wilkins (the latter two from NYC with the latter hailing from Brooklyn) fell short?
Queensbridge Balla/Shot-Calla? I don’t think so.
Please enlighten me.
Isaiah Thomas IS FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the best news this week!!
Just announced Isiah Thomas will not be retained as coach next year. Walsh is considering keeping him on in some capacity but not as coach. Holy shit finally someone representing the Knicks that doesn’t have shit for brains. Any replacement here would be an upgrade.
isiah is not coming back as coach. thanks to bilz to thrilz and Edward for the late breaking news.
i flipped it over to msg but they’re showing the rangers playoffs again.
more when i hear it…

Hallelujah ! No more slick lying smile before and after games. Today is trully a day to celebrate.
Steady,
This is the Joker callin’ you out ! Come back bro. The arguing is over and we miss you man.
update: Isiah has not technically been fired, but is no longer in consideration as the coach.
what apparently will be offered to him is a behind-the-scenes job.
if so, I wonder if he will take it. he’ll get paid no matter what, but I don’t think he likes new york (hence the “again, you haven’t been proud since 1973″ remark) and a good percentage of new york does not like him (fact not opinion), so maybe he wants to clear his name by going some place else and starting from scratch.
time will tell…
looks like walsh is going to get action jackson to come in and interview in any case, if he hasn’t already.
This next coach really doesn’t matter because we won’t be competitive for a few years. With that said, if Jax is our coach, we probably won’t even win 20 games next year. This team needs someone to crack the whip and not somebody who “relates to the players” and has no coaching experience at all.
Again, I’ll take bill laimbeer over Mark Jackson. I think Laimbeer has a better coaching resume.
head coaching choices
1) choice Bill Laimbeer
2) second choice Mark Jackson
Assistants Pat Ewing, Herb Williams, Oakley
Yeah, if you want to develop the young ‘uns, it might be tough to bring in a rookie coach. All they’ve learned to do this year is lose and be lazy–and Renaldo suffered more than anybody with less than 3 years in the league. Morris lost a year better spent in college or the D-league. A young coach could get away with some vets–for all his flaws, Eddy is that, and everybody knows he can score down low–and Steph can push the ball. But young guys who need to be guided to find roles on the floor, might respond to a more veteran coach…if Jackson’s really serious about coaching, I think he should start out as an assistant. He has nothing to lose and everything to gain–just like the team he’d be working for (New York or anyone else).
