The Big Fella got into the hall of fame today in his first nomination. Heart, hustle, the warrior mentality, giving “110%” on a nightly basis, Patrick Aloysius Ewing gave the city of New York the best he could on the basketball court for 15 years.
Thank you Patrick for being a true Knick Warrior. To this day, you are still my favorite Knick ever.
Clyde and Pearl, known by most Knicks fans as the best back court of all time, were on MSG last night together making jokes implying that Ewing’s next big man coaching assignment may pop up in New York. If it comes to pass, that’s the way it should be. The Knicks would do well to finally send these Indiana/Detroit/Chicago people packing. As was evidenced this season, New York isn’t for everybody. Eddy Curry would only be so lucky to have Patrick Ewing molding him into a better player instead of Mark Aguirre.
Ewing has “intimate knowledge” of what it takes to succeed in New York as a big man, and it is time for the Knicks organization to stop deliberately ignoring him.

I can concurr with you on that observation. Curry needs a voice in his ear.
Congrats Pat, We miss our last true warrior.
LMAO Vic, loved your channeling of Clyde there for a minute. Just don’t bust that velour suit outta the closet until late October or so…
Notice i said GENERALLY speaking pride is a bad thing….but pride based on a long and distinguished body of work which involves hustle, heartbreak and unyielding determination in the face of very long odds is a completely different thing.
Drenched in sweat during games, buried to the hip in ice buckets afterwards, Patrick Ewing’s loping gait down the floor may have gotten a bit gimpier over time, but he never backed down from the challenge of leading some terrifically undertalented squads against the greatest force of nature his profession has ever known.
He never scaled the mountain, because every time he got to the top, he realized it was just a plateau, and the mountain (#23) had grown even bigger over time. He never backed down from competition in a Golden Age of big men, from Hakeem to Shaq to Mourning to Mutombo to the Admiral and others. What fierce competition!!!
It would absolutely fitting if he could help us again, in our abject hour of need, to lead us back into the blinding spotlight of meaningful, competitive basketball in The Mecca. Eddy Curry has the tools, as African has pointed out many times. He just needs motivation and conditioning, and honestly – those things are attainable!
It’s time for Patrick to be called home.
Good Afternoon Deeeeeee-fenders
Big Congrats to Ewing. He is one of my favorite Knicks and deserves his due in the H.O.F.
If Jax gets a job in the front office or the coaching bench,Ewing won’t far behind.
That would be good for Curry,Zach and maybe Morris.
I love the kid and play high-top hair cut.
Noize,
Game Over
Your Score: 340
Average reaction time:
Black Armed:795.6ms
Black Unarmed:991.04ms
White Armed:831.88ms
White Unarmed:898.2ms
What does this mean ? There were no conclusions just the results.
it’s kinda subjective (a University of Chicago experiment of racial identification), but i interpret it as:
you identified…and shot….armed black men the quickest (just sprinkle some crack on him and let’s go home)
you identified black bad guys quicker than white bad guys (timmy mcveigh didn’t look so creepy, did he?)
it took you longer to identify black innocents than white innocents (is that a gun???? oh, wait – just a wallet)
i think your results are generally in line with the experiment’s expectations, which hold across all race & gender lines for the testing groups.
Ewing wants Jax
For Peaceman if you are out there.
I’m so happy for the big fella. I don’t think there’s anyone more deserving of induction into the “hall” than man Pat. Congrats fella!!
Now he needs to be shown the love he deserves by being given an opportunity to help turn this franchise around. It’ll be mutually beneficial…he needs the Knicks, and they damn sure need what he brings by virtue of having gone thru the intense heat and having had fought the many wars.
This franchise needs his “warrior” and unbridled “passion” as we go forward. Hopefully the olive branch will be extended to the “big fella”….
Job well done, Patrick!
Yo DLT
Hit me up at the following address illaatoq@yahoo.com. I think you’ll understand why.
If not I’ll give it to you in one phrase Band of Bros!
@BRONX
Being A BIG Gtown fan, you know I’m a Big Fan of Patricks! Most deserving and well earned!
I CO-SIGN POST #10 EMPHATICALLY!
Keep it POPPIN!
@ Cooley,
I can imagine how you feel about the “big fella’s” induction. You’re love for Gtown runs deep, this I know.
Imagine the instant credibility boost to be gained by Patrick’s inclusion to the Knicks staff, and imagine how it’ll benefit Curry? For the first time in his career, he’ll be tutored by a legit big man, not to mention someone who can identify with and help him deal with the nuances of playing the middle for one of the most storied franchises in the league.
It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved. We need to make this happen pronto.
Chalmers hits a big three to send it into overtime!
I’ve been telling you guys about Mario all season!! This kid can help us immensely. All he does is make big plays.
Don’t get me wrong…we don’t nab him with our lotto pick, but if we can somehow get a late first-early second round pick, he’s got my vote!!
Chalmers…MOP!
The Knicks better take a good look at this kid, and figure out what needs to be done to get him. He’s solid.
@BRONX
There isn’t any two ways about it for me…I BLEED GEORGETOWN GREY AND BLUE all the way and always. From the day OUR Homie Fred Brown stepped foot on that campus, I was full fledge Hoya verses Partially due to Big JohnT and Sleepy.
As it relates to Chalmers, you have been promoting shorty for a minute now, and he has some skills you can’t teach quickness and laser beam anticipation. He’s a taker, but he will have to work on running the point at the next level, and he has done some of that, but for the most part, Robinson and Collins have dominated the ball. Also, the Rush is the TRUTH TOO and He could play for me too because his skill sets are off the charts and his upside with some pruning and coaching could be a Caron Butler type of player with some muscle added.
Lastly, I have never spoken on it, but I think one of Zeke’s fatal errors was not hiring and utilizing former Knick greats to help revitalize the franchise. From Oakley, to Ewing, Bill Bradley, or Clyde or Earl for that matter. MarkA and all the other sideline YES MEN have not carried the water nor understand how WE ROLL IN NYC! SHAKE it UP & Shake it FAST, and show US NY KNICKS FANS what we’re Working with…We’re waiting to see your hand DONNIE!
Keep it POPPIN!
Zeke’s fatal errors was not hiring and utilizing former Knick greats to help revitalize the franchise. From Oakley, to Ewing, Bill Bradley, or Clyde or Earl for that matter.
Zeke’s fatal errors were the inability to make substitutions and drafting very good players, but not playing them. I keep hearing how good Zeke does in the draft, but then Zeke never played the younger players. What good is having Chandler, Balkman, Morris if they rarely come off the bench? So really how good is Zeke at drafting people?
Another of Zeke’s fatal errors was over playing people like Jared, to show that he didn’t make a mistake then he signed him.
I normally don’t engage ZIDIOTS, but ED, if you read my psot correctly, I said, “but I think one of Zeke’s fatal errors was,” the operative word there is one, verses the only one. It is uch a shame to your thoughts could bounce of the same THICK WALLS day after day. It would be different if you had something substative to say other than your Isiah rants…
I’m Audi! This Kat post’s BS like Harlem keeps naked photos of SEXY women on a loop on his computer…(Just pulling Harlem’s leg Defenders, please don’t take me literally)….But seriously ED you’re dragging KD down, and it is sad because, we don’t mine engagement or disagreement, but please bring something to table beyond the Isiah shyte…It’s tired…I was Knick Fan when you when both you and Isiah were in NUT CITY…Get my DRIFT…It’s about the KNICKS for US…
Keep it POPPIN!
@ Cooley, ref: Rush…
“and his upside with some pruning and coaching could be a Caron Butler type of player with some muscle added.”
If you knew how I felt about Caron’s skills and his approach to the game, to hear Rush compared to him gives me a Rush!!
He would be an upgrade over QRich, but is he a lotto pick??
As far as Chalmers goes, even though he could use some “seasoning and pruning” in the ways of a pure “pg”, he’s still an unpgrade over anyone in our backcourt…..
Imagine the finished product….NO PASS IS SAFE AROUND THAT KID, AND THE OPPOSING GUARD HAD BETTER HAVE TIGHT HANDLES!!!!
@BRONX
No doubt about that…Chalmers is a BALLER and got plenty of heart, ilustrated by not only taking the big shot, but making it…The other thing I like about him is his frame, and the fact that he might grow another inch or two and he has that anguler frame that can accept and harness increased muscle mass and not necessarily effect his speed and agility.
But don’t sleep on RUSH…He’s got a CButler’s Mental approach to the game at 6’5 and he has shown his toughness with how he came back from the Knee Injury and had a splendid senior season, capped off with THE NCAA TITLE…Auther is no slouch either, but a second rounder of possible free agent at best, but he got a shot at the next level…
BUt BRONX ROSE and LOVE are the Pure Gems in this Draft if both come out………………..
Keep it POPPIN!
Cooley what’s taking down the site is people who are unable to see that Thomas is doing a terrible job.
Spammers usually have agendas/vendettas. It ain’t hard to tell.
@ Cooley,
If we don’t get the number one pick, our chances of nabbing Love are great because after Rose, teams selecting in the 2 – 5 spot will be selecting on need….and we need one of the two!!
I don’t know what it’ll take to get in position to get Chalmers, but we must do what it takes. We need this kid…I’ve always felt that way, but after last night, that feeling intensifies.
Hopefully he’ll continue to go unnoticed. I doubt that very seriously
I like Authur as well….that kid is a stud…and so is Jackson. I’ll trade any two of our front court players for those two.
They can teach the Knicks bigs a thing or two about how to handle themselves on the block. They can call it “Post play 101″
Man, it seems like only yesterday me, Peace, and KnicksD was goin’ apeshyt in preparation for last years’ draft.
Hey Cooley,
Do you have government access to my computer? LOL.
…and out of respect for jigga, i took beyonce out of the loop. I replaced her with Rhianna.
#5 is probably my favorite
I still don’t understand why we had to wait until the end of the season to see chandler play…
his goal this season was to win rookie of the year. can’t do that from the pine.
the way q and jeffries played, i would have had chandler starting by early december, if not sooner.
chandler is a major factor again tonight.
baseline three point range displayed by chandler, doing it on both ends of the floor.
pretty much dominating the game, for some reason, Chandler gets benched by Isiah early in the second quarter.
Chandler with a first half double/double..Very impressive…Isiah probably having “What if” dreams right now.
@ KnicksD, #26,
That was a great clip, bruh. I miss those Knicks.
lol @ Top Shotta..
You know he is. But what baffles me is he thought enough of him to make him a first round pick, why not play him? Especially considering the season QRich was having.
Say goodbye to Derrick Rose.
Project tank “the season for a top lottery pick” has been abandoned for project “save Isiah’s remaining job with the knicks.”
I have no understanding of this game or the last.
maybe they play better without lee (back spasms)?
maybe they play better when clyde and pearl are calling the games?
the knicks are up by 20 in detroit tonight.
wilson should have been a starter all season.
The Knicks narrowly escaped with a win over an unenthusiastic Piston team.
Chandler is going to be a regular contributor next season…he has the blessings of the “Rolls Royce” backcourt, and mine as well.
Collins is a D-Leaguer, and Morris’ body language disturbs me.
I agree on both counts …Walsh will more than likely release Collins and I’d be really surprised if he re-signs Morris..There’s no sense of enthusiasm or urgency in Morris’ game at all and I know guys on the playground that are way better than Collins.
Chandler with three blocks. Kid’s got game. If the rumors here and there about Balkman dogging it in practice are true, it makes the burying of Chandler even more frustrating and not understandable, unless Chandler was also halfsteppin in practice. =(
Dolan better be nice to Isiah in his dismissal and/or demotion, because if not i am sure Zeke could write a devastating tell-all book. =)
Is it okay to be upset about the win tonight? It’s all so dismal and confusing. i guess we just take the BARF approach, put blinders on, be happy about the positives (Chandler’s emergence) and pretty much do our best to ignore the rest till the draft gets here.
yeah, Morris cost nothing but didn’t pan out. You can’t win if you don’t play the game. We rolled the dice and we didn’t hit the jackpot. It happens, no biggie, maybe Patrick’s kid or someone gets that spot next year and shows some passion for the game and self-improvement. That’s all we ask.
Its a good thing that Thomas didn’t play Chandler for most of the season. He could have started in place of Q and actually made a difference. This is one of teh reasons that Thomas is a terrible coach, he’s so stuck on players he brought in through trades Q and in free agency jared (to prove that he didn’t make a mistake when he brought them in) and he forgets to play his draft picks like Chandler who could have made a difference.
Crawford,
Chandler
Zach
Lee
That’s a 4 out of five to be reconed with.
Before we say morris didn’t work out why not give him a chance. The guy only played a few minutes this season.
It’s Wednesday, a couple of days since my epic posts and I simply want to make sure that I let all of you know that I appreciated first the fact that you would dare to read my lengthy comments. That in itself is a very high complement. Thank you. Second, I appreciate the depth, intensity and sharpness of the responses, but as Modi eluded to, I expected no less from you. A big thanks for being who you are.
Unfortunately that effort has put me behind on some non-blog stuff and I won’t be able to respond in depth to some of the wonderful and provocative comments. However, I think it is very important for me to suggest that those who believe that what we are doing here transcends our fellowship, please re-read and reconsider the comments by Modi on running a blog and Cooleyhigh on fellowship. There are others to re-read but there are some instructions in both of these pieces which are very unique as well as useful.
Enjoy the rest of the day and if I don’t peek in or peep out, the rest of the week.
Let’s Go Knicks.
