Knicks lose to Blazers in OT

March 9, 2008 – 2:57 pm

Thanks to all the defenders who represented Knicksdefense in my two game absence. I had to take care of some business that kept me away from the computer, but I caught both games and still root for the orange and blue in the 19 or so remaining Knicks games that have yet to be played out this season.

Nate put up 45 last night, wow! A career night for Nate, congrats for him as he was able to do it against his college teammate Brandon Roy’s team, the Blazers. Against Steve Blake, Nate basically had his way, but Blake had the last laugh when he hit the pull up jumper in the lane down to force overtime, and once Brandon Roy got going in OT, the Knicks had lost their sixth straight. We had no Crawford, Randolph or Curry and yet Nate, in starters’ minutes and field goal attempts, almost accounted for their missing production by himself. I always thought Nate could average 20+ in starters minutes but 45 is quite an accomplishment from the third year guard. Nate can score the ball on pretty much anyone in the league because of his quickness and shooting ability.

Defensively, however, I kind of cringed when during the Cavs game, Nate had to switch and pick up LeBron who went right through him (LeBron does that to EVERYONE anyway), or when last night Nate had to do TWO jump balls against Joel Przybilla, who stands at 7′1″. He does get a lot of mileage out of his 5′8″ frame, but defensively, there are going to be times Nate isn’t going to have the advantage out there. He has to continue to work on that as well as his distribution skills.

I liked some of the spin moves Chandler used last night, and hope to see more from this talent in the remaining weeks of the season. I’ve been saying all season, Free Wilson Chandler. Too bad Randolph Morris wasn’t able to play (for whatever the reason).

My interpretation of the remainder of this Knicks season is like many of yours, I don’t/won’t root against my team, but I want to see the kids play more, and if we get more ping pong balls as a result of it, I’m not complaining.

It seems like this is the third straight season Knicks players are dropping off like flies as the season comes to a close. Why are injuries a recurring theme come March and April on the New York Knicks? Is conditioning a problem? I’ll leave that to you to decide, but I have heard that the Knicks sometimes have 30 minute practices, a far cry from the grueling sessions you hear about from Riles and Van Gundy.

The next Knicks game is slated for Monday in Dallas. Around this time last season, Stephon had a similar high-scoring game in that all the Knicks were out with injuries, and Steph was feeling good and put up 43 against the Mavs. That was a make-or-break type game last season, because the team gave 110% and when they didn’t win, I think it ended up breaking their spirit in hopes of securing a playoff spot. You remember the game right? Mardy played clutch down the stretch, and Renaldo had the below monster dunk on Harris. We had won 31 games by that game, which was on March 30th 2007. The Knicks have won 18 games thus far this season.

  7. Did I say Knicks Defense was cutting edge? I got some hyperbole to spread, but every once and a while I hit it on the head.

Cooley baby, that was hilarious and right on. You know how to play. Anyone else care to take a swipe at the “Blame Game.”

Cooley man, I got the day off. My little sweetie and I went to the Newark Museum this afternoon. I’ve been in this area for about 30 years and that was the first time I went for something other than a wedding or other special event. My daughter loved it and I got a couple of zzzz’s during the Planetarium show. Nice place.

Gentlemen, I started playing BBall again on Friday. My doctor said my shoulder healed enough to play. He pissed me off though because a bone has moved and I can feel it and he had the nerve to muse “Makes you marvel at how fast those professional athletes recover doesn’t it.” I said “Hell no muthafunker. I’m damn near 50 and it hurts.” O’k I didn’t say that, but I felt like it. Anyway, the real point is for me to say that I got back on the court and led a “dynasty” which means we never left the court and went about 5-0 with me running point. Now I would leave it at that and try to leave you with the impression that I got a handle, but everybody else plays like they flunked tryouts for the wheelchair team. I just want you to know that I hate to lose so badly that I will beat the “disabled” and try to disable everybody else. (My daughter has won a cruise though because I failed to beat her in Wii “Cow Racing” within a two week span. I Hate losing so I am going to put her on punishment when she least expects it. (LOL)

Is Curry really done for the year? DaVonn, seriously if you wanted the Knicks to lose you shoould have been rooting for him to be around when Zach returns. Now life will be much easier for Zeke. Injuries help his coaching.

Cooley that was so funny, I had to read it twice.

  8. Dag Tman, you slapped a nice piece of reality on the scenario. I absolutely agree that Isiah is working under orders as usual. It’s got to be a tough job, but that media policy has got to be killing him. On top of that their public relations strategy is really poor or the execution of it is really poor. How is it that representatives of the players are always contradicting the party line. I get the little leaks from Marbury to Berman, but Zach’s agent rats out Zeke by suggesting that Zach’s disappearance was a mini-paid vacation. What was the point of releasing that info? This whole crew is one of dysfunction, but those Dolan folks are firmly rooted in the bottom line, not of the Knicks, but their entire empire.

  15. Quentin Richardson shouldn’t have anything to say about Wilson Chandler and Renaldo Balkman getting Richardson’s playing time. Richardson hasn’t produced this season. I’m just disappointed it took Thomas this long to bench Richardson. Now if only the Knicks would bench Eddy Curry and Jared Jefferies, maybe the Knicks could even make the playoffs, or at least finish strong.

  18. Eddie’s done for the year.
    Daily News;
“Curry’s injury may dampen any plans the Knicks had to move the 25-year-old center this summer. They spoke with teams at the trading deadline in hopes of doing so but nothing came to fruition.

One league executive told the Daily News before the deadline: “The question is whether he’s regressed or, is this it, he’s not getting any better?”

The knee injury - regardless of the extent - won’t boost his stock around the league.

Curry never has been considered a well-conditioned player and the extra weight he carries (he’s listed at 285 pounds) can only increase the stress put on the injured knee.”

I made the comment after seeing him in person vs. Utah a while back that I thought he approached, and probably technically, is obese. That’s a harsh word, but you can’t fix something unless you’re honest. He’s carrying too much weight and with his poor conditioning probably strained/tore his knee. But this could work out for him, and us, in the long run.No one wants to go under the knife so his doctor will probably tell him he has the choice of losing weight and rehab, or getting cut and rehab. If he does lose weight and gets into shape he is still a question mark in terms of his ultimate ability.I’d give him the summer and or trade him after I see who shows up.Maybe he really wants to be an insurance salesman and carry an attache case. That’s cool, but they don’t make 9 million per.Last chance in NY Eddie. In any case, good luck and God bless.LGK ps D. Howard, 265lb—E. Curry, 285,listed?

  20. Jibber Jabber Reincarnated,

    2007-2008

The Season was over before it even started. The verdict in the ABS trial outweighed anything that took place on the court, off the court, on the plane, in the truck, or on Eddy’s plate. Isiah Thomas was psychologically damaged
by the verdict, and due to the training camp being in progress he did not have time to RECOVER.

I will state up front that I have never dated a Psyche major at an Ivy league school, but I do know that Isiah had
carefully crafted a positive PUBLIC IMAGE. Regardless of what happen in Private, Publicly, Isiah always attempted
to project himself as a Brother from the West-side of Chicago that not only could play ball but could also win at the game of LIFE. The verdict was a jolt to his image and credibility. I believe that Isiah was unable to move forward
(Justifiably so) and the verdict affected his coaching and the relationships w/ his players.

I remember Isiah taking over a Pacer’s team that traded Mark Jackson, Antonio & Dale Davis, Rick Smits retired, and
the team only had Reggie Miller returning. He took over a new and young team and led them to three straight playoffs.
If you only read the MSM you would believe that Isiah took over the Pacers team that went to the finals the year
before, and he could only get them to the first round. Isiah is no Lawrence Frank!! I saw how he developed Jermaine O’neal,Ron Artest,Brad Miller and Travis Best. In addition I remember the OFFENSIVE SETS that the PAcers ran,
and the OFFENSIVE SETS that the Knicks ran last year under Isiah. I remember the play he called to get the tip-in
to DLEE w/ no time left. I remember the play in against the Bucks to get Eddy(of all people) the 3-pt shot
to send the game into overtime. Giving the the ball to JChuck (now N8)and letting him go one on one, is not the
coach from last year or the the Pacers. Can Isiah Coach? Hell Yeah!! Did he have a bad year coaching? Hell Yeah!!
This is my response to the BLAME-GAME.

I said “The silent treatment is type gay” which in slang literally translates to “kinda gay” not “so gay”. “Kinda” suggests you’re approaching bitch behavior but the circumstances make your absence completely understandable.

BARF Johnson may log in tonight barring any unforseen problems. I just cannot justify watching the games live and blogging when my lady is home. I can’t see sacrificing the warmness of a close relationship for the Knicks and their losing. The lady will be out tonight so maybe “The Announcer” will make a long overdue appearance.

I’ll be looking forward to it cuz I’ve heard a lot about the young’ns. I haven’t watched most of the latest games either cuz I just can’t stomach watching them lose. I’m sorry I missed Nate’s blowout performance cuz I thought he’s had it in him all year.

The young core is still younger than 26 so there is plenty of hope to be had.

The only folks who should be ashamed are the vets that have not stepped up this year. They have all been given more than teir fair share of playing time and opportunity.

Look, you don’t like the direction of the blog, do the few of us who still like coming here to talk about the KNICKS a favor and don’t blog here. It is as simple as that. There are many Knicks blogs all over the world wide web.

I admit Lives has always been a greater writer than myself, and I understand that you come here only for his words and the words of other valued defenders, but as long as I still have the keys, I have to run this the way I see fit. 27. States,

It sounds like you are on IT’s pr payroll today ? I thought that Zeke would be a success in NY too, but I will not make excuses for him. The 2 plays that you pointed out from last year were brilliant. There is no questioning that IT does have some skills but there is also no questioning that he has never gotten a team out of the 1st round of the playoffs and hasn’t even gotten us to that point. He needs a pink slip and fast. Seperate your love for the player from him performance as coach and the decision becomes very very easy.

By JohnQ on Mar 10, 2008 at 1:20 pm

  28. Isiah’s coming back next season. I dont understand whats so hard to believe about that.

If its a problem of coaching then consider this:

If you fire Isiah today and hire the best coach (Phil Jackson) will he do a better job of getting wins out of this roster?

If you’re answer is no then the problem isn’t the coaching.
If you’re answer is yes, Phil Jackson would do a better job, then I want to know what you think he will do different.

I think there are a lot of problems with this team and coaching is one of them but not exactly the biggest.

I think the coaching job is one of the biggest challenges these Knicks have had.

Curry at the Center has an easier job than Isiah.

Zach has an easier job than Isiah.

Stephon’s job was hard this year…especially with everything with the media and the deaths…but Isiah has had a tougher job, I think.

DLee and Nate are in “no pressure” positions so all they had to do was improve.

This season was a wake up call to everyone that thought one off season and one big acquisition was a fix all. A lot of your asses got woke up “cold bucket of water in the face” style. Shoot, I wasn’t immune I got caught up in the hype too. I should have gone with my original conservative prediction of 38-40 wins…and still, I would have been way off.

Now, with Dwyane Wade out for the rest of the year, Miami and NY are in a race to the bottom, DVJ style.

  29. The Perception of a Point Guard

I’m having a hard time grasping what is a point guard and what’s not a point guard. Somebody said if you average more than eight assists, you’re a point guard. I was like, “Well, Stephon Marbury, when he was in Phoenix, he was dropping eight assists and they said he was a shoot-first point guard.”

So, that notion went out the door. I was like, “Who are the point guards in the league today? How many are there if there are any?”

By BARF on Mar 10, 2008 at 2:05 pm

  30. @BARF,
No need to explain what you wrote. I understood exactly where you were coming. Although some
may consider being a Super Sensitive Guy (SSG), admirable, that is not how I roll. Again that Metro-Sexual
    shyt is over my head.

    @JohnQ,
I am not making excuses, for Isiah, I am giving my opinion on what went wrong w/ the Knicks this
year. I do not listen to the he’s never gotten a team past the 1st-round rap. When Garnett was at Minnestoa, they focused on him(the player), rarely did anyone say Flip has never gotten
out of the 1st-round. Same crap w/ McGrady, JVG a terrible coach, never got out of
the 1st-round w/ Houston, and all you hear is McGrady could not do this or that. The press attempts
to tell you who is doing a good job and who is not. I watch and then I decide.
Isiah has had a BAD YEAR as a coach. That is not debateable. As I wrote before, I NEVER call for
an individual’s job. I will never whine that Isiah does not care about the knicks or the fans, and Dolan should do
something. That job is too knee-deep for me. I will allow the REAL MEN to Bytch & Moan. It is Dolan’s dime and he will make changes when he is ready.

    @Knee-deep,
Threatening to take your ball and go home, or in this case locking me out of your house is a Girlie-Girl move.
I would not expect anything more from you.

  31. My problem with our pg situation is that even with Steph at his most steady, we still only got about 6-7 assists from the pg. 2-4 on a bad day. Unacceptable from that position. With N8, I want him to be the pg. He has the speed, the handle and the will to break down a defense any time he wants to. Put that with the very good jump shot and he could become a Chauncey Billups type of player. The next stages in his development are to offensively become a facilitator first and defensively to improve his defense keeping his man in front of him and to be a pesky ball hawking defender. Take the charge N8 take the charge!

  33. AAAAHHH Shit! Let’s get it started!!!

“I remember the play he called to get the tip-in to DLEE w/ no time left.”

I agree States. Isiah’s problem is he’s coaching bitches. Everyone that thinks he shouldn’t have benched Marbs for fucking up the defensive set against Miami needs to check their diva cards at the door. So what??? You can’t penalize a guy for fucking up? I would. I wouldn’t give a fuck about status.

It’s about accountability. These bitches don’t want none. They want to make their money, line up the p for the night, and have a good time. Here’s a thought Knick players: earn your check! Play defense! Get in game shape!! Develop thick skin!!!

Ain’t that a bitch. Flip Saunders says Marbitchy needs tough love. Ain’t that a bitch!! Isn’t that what Isiah tried to do at the Miami game??

IT doesn’t know how to coach women’s basketball.

By HarleminMD on Mar 10, 2008 at 3:30 pm

  34. With N8 you see the evolution and the willingness to adapt and grow. With Steph and Curry you don’t see that. There is actually resistance to any kind of change. As if they can’t be made better. That’s the maddening thing with those two. How dare they resist when it’s easy to see what the team needs? Isiah, having reached hardheads before in O’Neal, Tinsley, and Artest thought he could reach these two. It was a gamble and when you gamble on another person’s needs and motivations the house is often stacked against you. Being selfish is like a drug. And to get off of that drug, sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you can move forward and grow from the experience. This season has been that for Curry and for Steph. So in Curry, call me blind, I think there is a chance that he can come out of this a better player. For Steph, at 31, it may be too late. He’ll get his $21.9 (unless he’s bought out) and drift off into the former player universe. There are enough kids out there who are unspoiled that are more than willing to fill that slot. As good as his heart may be on social causes, he’ll always be remembered as a malcontent that tore his teams apart.

By Jay Bee on Mar 10, 2008 at 3:35 pm

  35. JB,

That’s the other problem I have with these vets. They want the money, they don’t contribute to a team’s success, then they want a buyout. Mourning should have suffered in NJ. Cassell should have suffered in LA. Marbury should suffer here (no one is picking up that contract). Marbury is picking the right time to fight. Zach goes on a vacation with his $13 mil, waiting for the next stop. WTF?

They are abusing the CBA and the new guys are going to pay for it on the next contract. I will be shocked if the NBA Owners don’t force the players to give up the guaranteed contracts.

We’ve had so many players use the guaranteed contracts against us (through fake injuries and whatever bullshit they can get away with). Shannon Anderson, Eisley, Penny Hardaway, Steve Francis, and the kingpin: H20.

Next year, it will probably be Rose (8 mil), Marbury (21 mil) and James (6 mil) looking for a buyout, Q is damaged goods (8 mil). a lot of dead money next year.

  37. #32 Harlem, that’s required reading right there. Great post.

I blame Isiah’s coaching as much as the next guy but I draw the line when it comes to blaming the whole season on him.

“Oh, but IT is the one who “hand picked” these guys so he’s to blame if they are unproductive”

Um…no. Hand picking is drafting and expansion draft. Everything else is subject to how much money you have to spend UNDER THE PAYROLL, what contracts you already have and what players other teams are willing to give up. Its not handpicking if you have junk on the roster and trade for other people’s junk. It’s called TRADING.

The players he’s “hand picked” are the young players everyone wants to see more of and see develop. Give these guys more time (YEARS not months) to spread their wings and find the right collection to put out on the floor. Politics alone won’t allow Isiah to run with the youngsters.

What will the vets (QRich, Malik, Stephon, Zach) say if Isiah plays the youngsters heavy minutes early in the season?

But after a horrendous season such as this one, I can’t imagine this roster remains untouched for next season. Those vets might find themselves wearing another team’s unis come next season. That collection of vets had their time to shine and they did anything but shine. They better get used to the idea that they are not stars meant to carry teams to victory. They are merely roleplayers holding the starting spot until the young’ns on the bench mature.

  38. African will allow Thomas to fall on his face because he’s in love with him. Thomas has a far greater team then Brown has and they’ll wind up for the same record. Thomas said he could win with Brown’s Knicks, so why can’t he win with a better team? Because he can’t coach and can’t built teams. If African’s head wasn’t up Thomas’ ass, he’d see that also.

By ed drossman on Mar 10, 2008 at 3:57 pm

  39. So this guy who posts are African says Thomas isn’t responsible for the teams lack of success even though he is the coach of players he handpicked. So let me get this straight, Larry Brown should have been held responsible, but Thomas should be?

  41. Wanna hear some nonsense?
“Bringing up what any coach did with another team in the past is such nonsense.”
    That’s some fuckin’ nonsense!
How do you evaluate a coach?
You evaluate a coach by his history and his “personell”.
You’re still not learning from history “bruh”.

That post is nonsense. You can’t come down on Larry Brown and yet excuse Thomas. Thomas built the team that Brown had and the current knicks team that he coaches. Thomas sucks as a GM and sucks as a coach. Now don’t threaten KD, just leave. African, you have absolutely no credibility.

By edward drossman on Mar 10, 2008 at 4:15 pm

  42. Every vet player on this team has had “down” years in NY. When Marbury came here, who thought it was a bad deal? When we got Q, who didn’t think his 3-point shooting and defense would help us? Who didn’t believe Rose would help us with rebounding? Who didn’t think James would give us length and better matchups at the center position? (remember we did not have a center before we signed James). What about Crawford? Who thought that was a bad move?

GUARANTEED CONTRACTS is a big part of the problem. The agents for these players demanded high contracts because of the NY market, but these players have not even delivered their CAREER AVERAGES.

By HarleminMD on Mar 10, 2008 at 4:18 pm

  43. I hate to defend Larry Brown because I think he tanked games in hopes of getting Thomas fired. But I must add in Brown’s first year with new teams he always did poorly. He improved his teams every year he coached them.

By edward drossman on Mar 10, 2008 at 4:21 pm

  44. The difference between Larry Brown coaching here and Thomas is that Thomas provided players for both Brown and himself. Both Brown and Thomas failed as coach here, but Thomas also failed as a GM.

KNICKS CANT BEAT KIDD IN DALLAS EITHER!!!

Isiah is at fault for all this.
    Let me ask you something…..
Where would you say our season really tanked?
I say it was the Stephon scenario going to PHX.
If Isiah had control of his co captian…Steph would’ve never
went back to NY. Do you think that shit would fly if Phil Jax was
    the coach? Didn’t think so…………

The guy gives his players days off after getting blown out….LMAO!!!!
You have to be joking here about who to blame this season on.
Sure Curry, Q, Steph, Zach all could’ve played better but it starts
with the coach and his staff. It’s just like when a guard bounces a pass
in to the big man and it gets stolen. It might’ve been a good pass but it’s
    always the guards fault….feel me?

Isiah has to get the ax either in both or one of his positions. If he comes back
next year with both roles again….it’ll be the same shit.

Why are we still rooting for wins. The draft is right there guys….
We need more loses. Remember, we’re closer to the #1 pick then we are
    to the 8th seed…real talk!!!!!

  47. If Thomas comes back as coach no one in their right mind would or should take the Knicks job because it means no matter how bad the Knicks do the new GM can’t fire Thomas. Thomas has the goods on Dolan just like starbury has the goods on Thomas.

That said if the Knicks start chandlerm, feature Balkman and play Jared and Q much less they have a chance to end the season on a positive note. Let the rookies and younger players play.

  49. DVOJ,

When I wrote play the young guys and get more PING-PONG BALLS, the DEE-FENDERS thought I lost my mind.
The responses, ranged from “He’s talking Tank”, to “From CYO,AAU,HIGH SCHOOL, COLLEGE, you play to
Win”. I wrote how the Cavs(LeBron) & Spurs(Duncan), used the “Lose Now, Win Later” strategy.
‘Lives’ challenged my recollection regarding the Spurs, writing that the Spurs did not sit Robinson.
Well Scoop Jackson has a great article on “TANKING”, at ESPN.COM. He mentions the Spurs sat Robinson
to lose games. The DEE-FENDERS are deluding themselves if they believe that the playoffs are reachable.
Besides, if you believe that Zach, Crawful, & Eddy all have injuries, then you also believe that Spitzer
will be governor at the end of this week. It isn’t likely. You also really have to stretch yourself to
believe that Randolph Morris is too Raw to play against Przyllia, Aldridge & Frye.
Yes Dee-Fenders the TANK is on.!! Isiah has a mandate to get as many PING-PONG BALLS as possible.
I see the new marketing campaign– A Rose in the Garden!!! Derrick Rose (a Chicagoan) will join
Q(UNTRADEABLE)Eddy(market too low), in the GARDEN!!!

Isiah,’Lives’ & ANTI believed that Crawful could and would lead this team. You were correct!!! Crawful has led
this team straight to the Lottery. The AND 1, street-baller will never start for a good team. Check
    his history,

    Peace & Blessings

  50. For those that did not read the ESPN power rankings link I just posted, it states that the Knicks have gone 22-60 since Dolan’s infamous contract extension, and currently ranks only the gutted hollow shell of the Memphis Grizzlies lower than the New York Knicks as the worst team in the NBA.

“Randolph is just a double-double guy and [Curry] hasn’t been in shape in two or three years,” he said. “…If you’re going to lose, lose going out – bodies on the floor, making an effort on defense. If you lose 30-something games by the All-Star break, it’s a disgrace.”
    Charles Oakley
    January 24th, 2008

The Knicks were 15-37 going into this year’s All-Star break, and have gone 3-8 since then.

We need a top pick in the draft, and we should try to get Artest again this summer. And we need a new coach, and a new GM too.

That’s a long laundry list of items, yet the Knicks right now are basically at rock-bottom, and if they care about ever getting good again, they should take the steps to secure the future success of the franchise. If the owner only cares about selling tickets, he doesn’t have to do anything, because people will still go to the games. But if the owner actually cares about making the playoffs, which was supposed to be the benchmark for this team both last season and this one, it is Dolan’s responsibility to make changes, because right now, the Knicks are stuck in the mud.

By knicksdefense on Mar 10, 2008 at 5:18 pm

  51. Zach has a “foot bruise”, apparently. At first report I thought Isiah’d just told him to go home, so he could simplify things for himself during the game, by shortening his bench. Eddy responded positively right away, which is why I’d like to see him gut out the last part of the season now: any good feeling he can get going into the offseason, to motivate him to train and practice in the offseason (admittedly after surgery & rehab), would be a good thing. Eddy’s not such a lost cause that he won’t respond to coaching, but he needs a coach. At this point Isiah’s just another Garden mouthpiece, and model for fine menswear.

I will admit Isiah showed some promise in Indiana, as being able to manage some young players, but the three-straight-first-round-of-the-playoffs can be understood in two ways: as testament to his ability to propel a young team to success; or to his inability to build on his previous success. The last two years have been his only unquestionable failures as a coach, and I think those have resulted mostly from the poorly chosen roster. The Zach move this summer puzzled everybody, and worse, now Isiah’s more puzzled than anyone else. I don’t think he has any intelligent idea of what to do next. (Of course, I don’t accuse Isiah of having any great intelligence anyway, just a knack for world-class smooth talk. And there’s a big difference.) If you still think of him as a capable coach, ask yourself, why is the team barely practicing now? His practice sessions have regularly been no more than thirty minutes, for quite some time now…quite an oversight for a team as poor defensively as this one. And the way he publicly took Marbury to task in December was the opposite of coaching: it was as treacherous as anything Larry Brown ever did. Isiah absolutely hung Marbury out to dry. And he expects his players to have his back? Maybe this is another aspect of how the trial, and Marbury’s testimony in it, determined how the Knicks’ season was going to go.

    Statesman,

My friend I laugh at you because I never said that Jamal can lead any team he play for too the playoffs. But like any reasonable good/”And 1″ player he could help any team become better. WHY DO YOU THINK CLEVELAND LEBRONS WANTED JAMAL AND TRIED TO GIVE US THAT WANNABE CRAWFORD, HUGHES? Caught u there, right? Didn’t see that coming, right?

Well, I tell you what, people saying Jamal never made it to the playoffs(and they’re right)but if he was traded to the LeBrons it would be his first time, right, and more than likely not his last. But where he now, warming the bence with a supposedly busted risk and a pack of cigs on his shoulders chilling. Jamal does more good then harm on this Knicks team, and to me like Nate, David Lee, a few others as well Jamal been entertaining to watch despite the losing record.

  67. And now, please welcome knickdefense.com’s own “Be A Real Fan” to the BLAME GAME[CROWD:APPLAUSE] where online blog posters get to vent their displeasure for everything that is Knicks and point fingers at anyone or anything!

    LET’S BEGIN!

Query: Who is responsible for the apparently “hostile” environment that existed in the MSG offices when Anucha Browne was an employee?

LIVES SAYS: In order of culpability: Jim Dolan, Steve Mills, Anucha Browne, Isiah Thomas, and Stephon Marbury

Query: Who is responsible for the multimillion dollar verdict won by Anucha Brown?
Query: Who is responsible for the apparently “hostile” environment that existed in the MSG offices when Anucha Browne was an employee?

BARF: Her boss and her boss’ boss.

Mills and Dolan if I’m not mistaken as to the hierarchy. The much maligned MSG “media policy” has something to do with it too, no? The MSG “media policy” was a response to the NYC media culture…so…following that logic, the MSM is to blame too. They treated the 90’s Knicks the way they did…and Dolan adjusted. Make sense? I think so.

Query: Who is responsible for the multimillion dollar verdict won by Anucha Brown?

    BARF: Everyone’s responsible.

Dolan for creating the environment, Mills for fostering it, Isiah for reveling in it, Stephon for testifying as a remorseless idiot and Anucha for exploiting everyone’s unprofessionalism. Hey, when Assola and Berman write in their blogs that they had a hard time believing the woman’s case…when they agree!!!??? You got to wonder if the lady had pulled the wool over people’s eyes.

Query: Who is responsible for the entire episode tainting the basketball season from the start?

    BARF: Jim Dolan’s an idiot.

Hind sight being 20 - 20 the way it is, he should have quieted that mess a year before. The media was waiting on that trial like Folly for affirmation. That non-case was the biggest story in nYC at the time. Kind of silly.

Query: Who was responsible for the Knicks lack of floor leadership to begin the season?

BARF: Stephon and Isiah, in that order.

Man, how many years does it take to assume the responsibility as the team’s BEST PLAYER. Yes, Isiah has some responsibility in leading the team…preparing them and making sure to put them in a position to succeed BUT HE DOESN’T PLAY ON THE COURT ANYMORE. He can only do so much from the bench. Looking back on it now, what was Stephon promoting his sneakers for? Zach was a new addition he had to learn. Curry was robbed in his home and coming off a career year. Craw and Nate were working out together. QRich was recovering from a back surgery and promised to be healthy this year. Who’s responsibility is it to get the team together? Isiah’s in charge of the gameplan but it’s Steph’s JOB to execute it.

Query: Who is responsible for Stephon Marbury deserting the team when he was threatened to be benched by his coach?

    BARF: Stephon.

It was his choice to respond that way. He’s had what? 3 years to lead this team? Come year 4, with all the promise of a successful 08, and the team stumbles out of the gate? If I’m Isiah, I am trying to light a fire under this team COLLECTIVELY and I have to single one guy out…who do I single out? MY GUY. MY PG. MY FRIEND AND NEIGHBOR!!!!! Fuck, if I can’t single out MY GUY…MY POINT GUARD…MY FRIEND AND NEIGHBOR then what the hell is Stephon playing in the NBA for? What’s left? That’s right. Money. So lame. Look, Isiah’s the coach. Stephon showing him up the way he did in response to a benching (NOT A SUSPENSION) took all authority from Isiah…from then on…because there were snitches in the locker room there was no trust left. (The snitch? Zach maybe? New guys tend to chitter chatter because they don’t feel a part of the whole…plus he seemed to have a lot of ears when the trade deadline was coming)

Query: Who is primarily responsible for Stephon not being a good teammate this year?

    BARF: Steph and Isiah.

Steph for obvious reasons like selfishness, kuckleheadedness and a lack of leadership ablity. Isiah for enabling him for so long and putting so much trust in him.

Query: Who is responsible for Eddy Curry’s lack of confidence and poor performance this season?

    BARF: Eddy Curry.

If Curry hadn’t had a year like last year, I might lump Isiah in there to share the responsibilities. But Curry hasn’t even approached half of the potential that he showed last year. In the beginning of the year, he got his touches. There’s no excuse. People here were lamenting as to why Curry got SO many minutes for most of the year…SO ITS NOT A MATTER OF PLAYING TIME OR OPPORTUNITY. Isiah is the same coach as last year (proven by this past week’s non-Zach roster and Curry’s improvement statistically) so how could Curry’s problem be the coach? It could be the addition of Zach put Isiah’s confidence in Curry in question….or it could be that Curry is a big whiny baby who victimizes himself psychologically so that he can allow himself to eat that extra TWINKIE. Who knows? At this point, I don’t care what it is…he has to man up and address it cuz his contract doesn’t expire anytime soon.

Query: Who is responsible for Eddie Curry’s decline in offensive prowess?

    BARF: Huh?

Who the hell knows? I think its a combination of poor conditioning, the addition of Zach as another option, the reliance of a good pass from Craw and Nate, Isiah’s waning confidence in Curry, Curry’s waning confidence in himself, the rest of the league being better prepared to double and triple Curry, Stephon and his outside shot’s absence, QRich’s poor shooting performance for most of the year, more playing time for non shooters like JJeff and DLee and late night runs to BURGER KING. There’s a lot of reasons for a one dimensional player like Curry to lose his confidence. The better question is how the hell do you help a GROWN MAN FOSTER HIS CONFIDENCE?

Query: Who is responsible for the negative atmosphere in the Knicks locker room?

BARF: The MSG “media policy”, the SLIMY snakelike beat writing Media, Dolan, Isiah, Stephon, the vets and the high PAYROLL number- in order of culpability. (no blame goes to the young’ns)

Query: Who is to blame for underdevelopment of Wilson Chandler, Mardy Collins and Morris Randolph?

BARF: The shock of a surprisingly terrible season and the hope of saving it.

Mardy was injured and recovering from surgery and was used early in the season to replace Stephon (unsuccessfully). Wilson and Randolph are first year players who haven’t seen much time so how do I know that they HAVEN’T developed? I don’t. Maybe they have developed but they haven’t been playing. Why haven’t they been playing? That’s another question.

Query: Who is to blame for the lack of playing time of Wilson Chandler, Mardy Collins and Morris Randolph?

BARF: All the under achieving scrubs ahead of them that need to learn how to pull their own weight, Isiah and the coaching staff.

Query: Who is to blame for the Knicks abysmal record?

BARF: The team’s that beat them.

IMO, The Knicks’ have improved over the last few years but that improvement has not happened in a bubble. While the Knicks got better, the rest of the league has also. Most teams are getting better faster because the Knicks are in a position of weakness via either their PAYROLL, one-dimensional players with long contracts, players with bad attitudes or just plain being low-balled on trade offers. The West is beating up on the East this year more than ever. So much so that there may be team’s that don’t make the Western Conference Playoffs with winning records. And the East may have teams in the playoffs that are 10 or more games under .500. So, yes, Isiah and Co. are to blame for the “abysmal” record…but…I think…the record is extra “abysmal” because of how much better the West is. Yes, we lose to the Sixers, Cats and Bucks but there are less and less winnable teams coming out of the West too. The whole East is feeling that trend. I still can’t believe how bad this year has been. My final answer is Isiah and Steph with Dolan and the press receiving a dishonorable mention because of the stage they helped set. No confidence and no home-court advantage at the beginning of the year helped kill any momentum this team had during the summer. Blame it on the weak mindset of the players who were negatively influenced if you must but there’s a bigger stage to be considered as well.

    BONUS QUESTION:

Query: What one individual is most responsible for this horrendous season and why?

    BARF: Of course, IMO, Steph.

He’s been here long enough. He’s the best PG we have that is not retired and not already in the HOF. Steph’s got to prove that he wants to be out there by being out there. Forget the injury, forget the surgery and the testimony he gave in the court of law…because his performance on the court of basketball and in Sperman’s paper have left this disappointed DIE HARD KNICK FAN with no one else to point the finger to. IT’S NOT ONLY A MATTER OF HOW GOOD THE COACH IS, BUT ALSO HOW COACHABLE THE PLAYER IS. Steph hasn’t proven to anyone, I dont think, that he’s all about the team. On the contrary, there’s plenty of evidence to suggest the opposite.

    THANKS LIVES!

Dirk fouled on the break and thrown to the floor. Hits his free throws to give Dallas 14.

Lee gets blocked by Dampier….embarassingly so.

Hope dross was happy before cuz he ain’t now.

Zach fouls Dampier. Evidently, Damp is quicker than Zach.

I may not make it to the second half at this rate. I got more important things to do…like…um…clipping my toenails

By BARF on Mar 10, 2008 at 8:01 pm

If it gets us a quality pick allright.

But I still want to see this Knick team compete.

    This is embarrasing.

It’s gettng harder and harder to be an out and open Knick fan.

I feel persecuted sort of like people in Dross-nomans sexual orientation/gender

By Orange and Blue on Mar 10, 2008 at 8:17 pm

  120. I forgot who it was but they were talking about Derrick Rose and
him coming here. The only way that happens is if the Knicks don’t get the
#1 pick. If we get the #2 pick he will be a Knick.
I’m telling you….if the Knicks get the #1 pick…the pick will be
    Beasley.
I wouldn’t complain if we got Rose though.
Even though I would go with Mayo before Rose…Rose will be a fine PG.

By DaVonn Obama Jefferson on Mar 10, 2008 at 8:18 pm

  121. Peace,

Lee’s been starting. Wake up. Peace do you still think that the Knicks are making the playoffs and that Thomas has done better then Brown. I remember last season you said the knicks would win the Atlantic and even the East.

You’re totally delusional. That said with a new coach, a new starting line up that doesn’t include Q, a new rotation that doesn’t include Jared, this team can be an eighth seed next year.

I would start Lee at Center for the rest of the season regardless of Eddy Curry’s health. Zach, Lee, Chandler, Crawford and Nate.

By ed drossman on Mar 10, 2008 at 8:18 pm

  122. better yet I’ll have Jared in my rotation, but the first person off the bench will be BAlkman, who has an offensive as well as a defensive game

By ed drossman on Mar 10, 2008 at 8:20 pm

Damn even the announcers are embarrassed!

By Orange and Blue on Mar 10, 2008 at 8:25 pm

  128. I’m not sure who knows less about basketball peace, you or African.

Let’s go over Thomas worst two moves: trading Kurt Thomas for Q and trading for Eddy Curry. The Marbury deal was bad also. I’m curious why others here think Thomas’ worst GM moves were. Notice I’m not bringing up signing Jared J, here. But continuing to play Jared is one of Thomas’ bad moves. BAlkman can give you much more then Jared.

Because he was getting even for the Nazi the faulter of the German Army advance in Leningrad.

Yep, it’s decades of pent up rage.

Also the following is Swastizki’s favorite song.

    ___________________________________________________

    Angel of Death

    Auschwitz, the meaning of pain
The way that I want you to die

    Slow death, immense decay
Showers that cleanse you of your life

    Forced in
    Like cattle
    You run

    Stripped of
    Your lifes worth

Human mice, for the angel of death

Four hundred thousand more to die

    (Chorus)
    Angel of death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead

    Sadistic, surgeon of demise
    Sadist of the noblest blood

    Destroying, without mercy
    To benefit the aryan race

    Surgery, with no anesthesia
Feel the knife pierce you intensely

    Inferior, no use to mankind
Strapped down screaming out to die

    (Chorus)
    Angel of death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead

    Infamous butcher,
    Angel of death

    (Rampage verse!)
Pumped with fluid, inside your brain
Pressure in your skull begins pushing through your eyes

    Burning flesh, drips away
Test of heat burns your skin, your mind starts to boil

    Frigid cold, cracks your limbs
    How long can you last
    In this frozen water burial?

    Sewn together, joining heads
    Just a matter of time
    til you rip yourselves apart

    Millions laid out in their
    Crowded tombs

    Sickening ways to achieve
    The holocaust

    (Rampage verse part 2)
    Seas of blood, bury life
Smell your death as it burns
    Deep inside of you

    Abacinate, eyes that bleed
    Praying for the end of
    Your wide awake nightmare

Wings of pain, reach out for you
His face of death staring down,
    Your blood running cold

    Injecting cells, dying eyes
    Feeding on the screams of
    The mutants hes creating

    Pathetic harmless victims
    Left to die

    Rancid angel of death
    Flying free

(leads: hanneman, king, hanneman, king, hanneman)

    (Chorus)
    Angel of death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
    Infamous butcher,
    Angel of death

    Angel of death!
