Tonight: The revamped Cavs visit MSG

March 5, 2008 – 1:26 pm

There is a bunch of stuff out on Stephon and Isiah’s continuing feud, look for it on the MSM blogs because it only brings me down to have to hear more of that stuff considering everything Knicks fans have already been through this season.

You think Chandler will guard LeBron tonight? I mean, if Isiah wants to take out Nate and put in a rusty Wilson Chandler with the game on the line, what are the chances he’ll start Chandler or assign him at some point in the game to try and stop the most dominant player in the NBA right now (sorry Kobe, Dwight, and other MVP candidates, LeBron is currently tops in my book).

Should be a good Knicks game to watch. I look forward to seeing it, sans the Isiah Thomas-Stephon Marbury drama.

  2. I’m thinking James will be guarded by Q/JJ/Balkman, but what the hell do I know ? Zeke goes by his own plan ( if he even has one). After the Chandler for Nate sub in the last game, who knows what the hell he’s thinking ?

By JohnQ on Mar 5, 2008 at 1:41 pm

  3. would be funny JohnQ, if Zeke put Balkman on LeBron, because Balkman got 0 minutes last game.

By knicksdefense on Mar 5, 2008 at 2:05 pm

  4. There’s no constancy at all to Thomas’ coaching. There’s no rime or reason for some of the moves he’s made. The fact that Balkman, who I thought was better then Lee, doesn’t even play anymore and that Rose plays over Lee just doesn’t make sense.

And Jared, whom I didn’t like, but used to be the first off the bench, doesn’t play anymore. His movies are inconstant and don’t make any sense. I’d play lee or even Jared (if Lee were injured) before Rose.

  5. KnicksD,

That’ll be PRECISELY the reason Zeke puts Balk on LeBron.

The less sense it makes, the more reason Zeke makes that decision.

OBTW, didn’t King James make Balk commit three quick fouls on him the first game of the season?

Of all the Knicks IMHO, Chander or JJ (because of his length) seems more suited for the task.

  6. Zeke is making me want that totally enept Larry Brown back

“Zeke is making me want that totally enept Larry Brown back”

Don’t know about wanting LB back Dross, but Zeke could leave tomorrow. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings a bit.

By Bronxboy in Md on Mar 5, 2008 at 2:50 pm

  9. I wonder what African and KKKandiman think of Thomas. They were the defenders of Thomas and were very critical, if not offensive, to people who criticized Thomas.

I was joking about wanting Larry Brown back he was as enept as Thomas. I’ll take Mark Jackson or Rick Carlisie as coach.

  10. Good PM Defenders!

Per the custom, I wanted to drop some spiritual nourishment for this THREAD and to root for
    my BELOVED NEW YORK KNICKS…

GO KNICKS GO KNICKS GO KNICKS GO KNICKS GO KNICKS GO KNICKS GO KNICKS GO KNICKS

    Today’s Quote
[J]ust having a pure heart and being a good person can bring you closer to God.
    Today’s Scripture
“But he who keeps (treasures) His Word [who bears in mind His precepts, who observes His message in its entirety], truly in him has the love of and for God .” (I John 2:5).

    Today’s Word
How much do you treasure the Word in your life? When you treasure something, it’s valuable to you. You handle it carefully and protect it. When you treasure a person or relationship, you give attention to them and think about them constantly! When you treasure the Word of God, you are expressing your love for Him. You treasure the Word by meditating on it or thinking about it all throughout the day. Remember, your life will go in the direction of your most dominant thoughts. When your dominant thoughts are the Word of God, you will be empowered to follow and obey His Word. Make God’s Word a priority in your life today and allow it to shape your thinking. Choose to treasure the Word today and everyday and you will be empowered to move forward into the abundant life He has for you!

    A Prayer for Today

Father in Heaven, today I choose to focus my thoughts on You. I choose to treasure Your Word so that my actions will show how much I love You. Amen.

  13. I’m going to tonight’s game. Who knows, maybe they can make it a game instead of getting blown out by 20.

If I were Dolan I would be embarrassed to show up. Before Dolan and his cast of clowns came here, we were a top Eastern Conference team.

  14. And we will be again.

  16. It’s game time!!! Who’s in this mutha?? Rooooooooooooooooooooollllll Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllll. Time to get it crackin’!! We need some W’s. Wake up people!!

And no I ain’t backin’ down from my prediction of playoffs, so stop tellin’ me about signs, probabilities and reality! Signs are witchcraft, probabilities are not absolute or definitive and reality is relative. So until we dwell in the same reality one way or another, just know that we won’t always agree, but the love of the Knicks is what we all hold in common.

    No ping pongs.

  18. Zach is expected to miss his third straight game with a bruised foot. (NBA?) Cleveland center Zydrunas Ilgauskas will miss this game with a back strain. (legit, although he always looks as if he’s in pain.) The 7-foot-3 Ilgauskas, averaging 13.5 points and 9.6 rebounds, will be re-evaluated next week.

By Jay Bee on Mar 5, 2008 at 7:42 pm

  19. Eddy’s got to be ready to eat tonight. Their insides should be really soft, even with “big” Ben Wallace.

By Jay Bee on Mar 5, 2008 at 7:43 pm

  20. N8, Craw, Q, Lee and Eddy to start the game.

By Jay Bee on Mar 5, 2008 at 7:46 pm

  21. Floppy Top is playing Curry and has already picked up his first foul. Back and forth so far but Knicks lead 7-6.

By Jay Bee on Mar 5, 2008 at 7:48 pm

  22. Curry play better w/o Zach.

By why can’t he play like sharing the court or some court time with him.

    It can’t be selective ADD!

  23. Eddy and Crawford both have a block apiece so far and the angel of the Lord said his name shall be called Jesus.

  35. In addition to having Crusty the Clown on their roster the Cavs have Ms. T!

By Orange and Blue on Mar 5, 2008 at 8:23 pm

  36. Morris got two buckets, one on a pump fake under the bucket, the other on a drop step fade away.

    Nice foot work on Morris.

He also got some rebounds and shows a quick second jump but not necessarily high second jump.

He’s active and is a servicable player at this stage.

    Number two is good also.

By Orange and Blue on Mar 5, 2008 at 8:28 pm

By Jay Bee on Mar 5, 2008 at 8:41 pm

  50. Bronx @ 43

Yeah but b/c Monty’s been goign playoff or bust mode till this late in the season player development of our pups has taken a back seat. But now that the playoffs are slipping from the teams grasp, and Zach is out it’s time to let the kids out to see whether they can play.

By Orange and Blue on Mar 5, 2008 at 8:42 pm

  51. That was supposed to be 30 point quarters. Lost my home keys.

Hope that’s not an ill omen for the Knicks, or come back to hurt them.

I’m all for trying to get Derrick Rose in the Lottery but I still would like to see this team play competitive basketball and if it gets us further than we expected then I’m all for it.

By Orange and Blue on Mar 5, 2008 at 8:43 pm

By Orange and Blue on Mar 5, 2008 at 9:09 pm

  62. Wilson with the silly foul. That’s his fourth. He must be trying to free Balkman who continues to dwell in the doghouse.

By Jay Bee on Mar 5, 2008 at 9:09 pm

  63. Yanno, this Knick team is not that bad….

It’s just unfortunate that the two players were depended upon to lead this team let us down in a big way.

If we can replace those pieces……..hmmmmmmm

By Bronxboy in Md on Mar 5, 2008 at 9:10 pm

And the Cavs are an improved and good team.

By Orange and Blue on Mar 5, 2008 at 9:15 pm

  72. @ Peaceman,

If you think Chandler is D-League material, then there are lot’s of other cats that should follow him there.

I don’t know what you’re looking at, but this kid can play. You don’t have to have thet “analytical eye” to see that.

I think that may be the difference between Taz and Chandler.

Taz is a high energy work horse whom I love (no homo) but his confidence on the offensive side limits him and may inhibit from working through shaky shooting.

Steph alerted us today that Monty is fuckin’ with the MSMs and misleading ehrybody.

  188. DLT @ 159 with the question of the 2d half of the season.

Last year with Stephon Marbury running point, the Knicks had a better strategic hold of the end game. Not only was Marbury experienced at making off the bounce decisions, he also penetrated often in the end game and the Knicks were able to have better control of the pace and scoring in the end game because they would score while in the penalty and with the clock stopped. Also, Crawford was more likely to duplicate the efforts of Steph and fully penetrate instead of pulling up for 8 feet jumpers. Also dribble penetration left Curry and Lee open under the basket resulting in foul shots. Sure they lost plenty of games, but as you may recall winning exciting tight games was not the major problem.

This year the best off the dribble decision maker is Nate who did an excellent job in this game, but Jamal is an horrible off the ball decision-maker, but equally as important is that opponents expect Crawford to jack it up. Unfortunately, the ball does not move with the ball in Jamal’s hands in the last two minutes of the game, largely because he has been designated the last second savior. Although he has a 40% likelihood of hitting a shot, that percentage decreases signifcantly when the defense focuses on him and tightens up at the end of the game. He also becomes more likely to turn the ball over with his high risk dribbling between the legs and between defenders.

Currently, the Knicks have no one else who can make solid off the dribble decisions or create shots for teammates at the end of the game.

The offfensive stagnation coupled with suspect interior defense has usually led to loses. Today, we lost the way one would expect the Knicks (or any other team) to lose a close battle with one of the two best players in the league. Players like LeBron, Kobe and MJ simply own the end game.

The Knicks have good players who can play this game. They do not have what they need to win close battles. They need a high level two way player who cna not only control the end game on a consistent basis, but can also get a stop on the other end. This player is not Ron Artest or Gilbert Arenas or Stephon Marbury. No one on the current Knicks roster will ever be that player in the next five years. Beasley is not that player. That player is someone like a Paul, Kobe, LeBron, Baron Davis, Kevin Garnett or maybe even Dwayne Wade.

    _________________________________________________________________________

I enjoyed the game, but this is the kind of effort from the younguns that confirms how badly Isiah has coached this team this year. Chandler is the type of player the Knicks needed earlier in the year, simply because he is a two-way player unlike Jeffries and Balkman. Chandler is physical, young and willing to hustle. He did a relatively decent job for a rook on LeBron who can burn a whole through a stack of vets. Chandler also can rebound. He is not a dominant rebounder though as Joe Smith and a couple others out jumped him on a coupld of occassions, but this player is strong and confident.

Of greater significance was the play of Morris who was clearly an answer to the failure of Curry earlier in the year. Morris is also another two-way player as he can play defense and score. Isiah was praised for a brilliant Gm move when he picked up Morris, but he didn’t use him at all when the season was on the line. Incredible. A further indictment of the difficulty of performing the coaching and Gm duties at the same time. Even Riley has failed miserably at the task when he has had to do it for a full year.

    ______________________________________________________________________________

Sometimes I am convinced that Dolan is smarter than the New York sports press corp which typically thinks far too highly of itself. Dolan knows that he has some excellent assests and that there is no need to totally dismantle this team. He also knows that the past two years of playing experience is going to pay handsome dividends in the long run as his team tries to find the right mix to complete the task of becoming a perennial winner.

The Knicks are two players short of a very, very good team. They need a point that can direct the team, move the ball, create his own shot and control the end game through dribble penetration at the end of games. This player would force Jamal to the two role or to the bench at the end of games. They also need one star player of the LeBron-Duncan-Kobe variety. Who would that be. Not any of the following so called “stars”: McGrady, Nash, Carter, Nowitzki.

    ______________________________________________________________________________

Do the Knicks need a new coach? I am sure that Isiah has done as lousy a job as a coach could do this year. He has done better, including his work last year.. The learning curve regarding the players he has assembled is steep and there is no inidcation that Isiah has a good replacement (Hanners maybe) currently on staff.

  192. Diop is 26, and a legit shotblocking center. He’s likely to get more than the midlevel this summer. Jersey can certainly offer him more. Hell, as it stands now, Miami will be under the cap and will be able to offer quite a bit.

The Knicks seem to stay with teams and then lose in the last five minutes because opponents sleepwalk through the first 43 minutes.

It’s only with the injury to Zach that Eddy’s getting the chance to show some of last year’s form. Why Isiah didn’t move Zach for Big Ben before the deadline, to clear up the offensive jam (and lighten salary) I’ll never know. As it is, Eddy has regressed pretty much all year. For him to become a complete player now would require a Helen Keller miracle worker-type intervention.

Isiah the GM destroyed his center’s confidence. Isiah the coach destroyed his point guard’s confidence. The result is a bad team full of players with no defined roles. These 30-minute practices are pretty amusing to read about. I’m sure they get a lot accomplished.

By Agramante on Mar 6, 2008 at 12:01 am

  193. I’ll tell you when the Knicks lost. They lost when Lee left the game in the 3rd quarter. Instead of putting Balkman in the game, the Knicks put Jared and Jared lack of defense and lack of offense killed the team. Please tell me why Jared came in the game? What has he done to deserve playing time? As far as I’m concerned Jared should be at the end of the bench and should not see playing time. Thomas is a terrible coach. The thing about the game is that Randolph Morris and Chandler played well. Maybe Chandler can play in front of Jared

Jared should see no more playing time enough already

By Edward Drossman on Mar 6, 2008 at 12:04 am

  194. LeBron is the man, no doubt about that. The hype used to make me sick, but the last few years you just can’t deny what this player is capable of doing in a basketball game. and now he has some better players around him, so watch out. Agramante, agree with you on Ben Wallace for Zach. Woulda/coulda/shoulda. Zeke has the keys so you know how that goes.

MSM will all publish their LeBron lust tomorrow talking about Nike wants LeBron to come to the New York Knicks in 2010 since LeBron is a Yankees fan. I’ve heard it all many times before dating back to his rookie year in the NBA. There are more than a few pundits out there that would bet money on it. Hey, I’m not against LeBron coming here in 2010, but that’s nothing to write home about now, this is 2008! If you’re going to pine for players, pine for Artest AND Derrick Rose THIS SUMMER (and Isiah’s removal if you are down with that, as am I).

But still, look at our backcourt tonight, they put up 49 points to counteract LeBron’s 50. so what was the difference in the game in terms of scoring the basketball? it probably had something to do with the 5 three pointers that faux-hawk wearing dork knocked down. a season-long problem of defending the perimeter. just my two cents.

hey check this out, Kevin Johnson is running for Mayor somewhere out west. What blew me away was that he’s now 42 years of age. I remember some of the incredible stuff this guy used to do before injuries robbed him of his game. Basketball can and will do that to you eventually. It’s a young man’s sport, as someone said before. That doesn’t stop me from going out there when I can. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve sprained my ankles playing ball.

    KJ runs for mayor

By knicksdefense on Mar 6, 2008 at 4:45 am

  195. Not too long ago, I said “don’t trade David Lee for shyte.” Allow me to clarify. I like what someone wrote or implied before about Lee’s propensity to hit a point of diminishing return during a game, especially at the end of games when his sloth-foot speed is decreased and he is tired also resulting in poor decision-making and little lift. Check most of those close losses and see how many of them included David Lee in the last two minutes. He is not the difference maker that the Knicks need at the end of games — although proper use of him with the current team could make a difference.

Set offensive plays at the end of the game with the ball going through Lee or a passing ZBo from the high post would have both guards moving off the ball through a series of picks freeing up a shooter a lot faster. Perhaps the guards would be able to take shots with their feet set and the defender not draped like a bedspread over their shot. This season Lee has been used to run up and pick the on-ball defender up high for a drive or pick and roll. It does not work at the end of games. Good defenders are prepared for that play, plus the Knicks players do not know how to make that work. Off the pick and roll even if David Lee got the ball, it’s too many dribbles to the basket from up high. And his passing options the closer he gets to the basket suck. (Warning: NEVER pass the ball under the basket to Jared Jeffries. You can pass it to him in front of the basket, but NEVER, NEVER, NEVER under the basket. You get what you expect. And Warning: Give it to Curry at his own risk).

The bottom line is that I would not trade David Lee. He is a foundation role player. He plays hard, usually well and is showing improvement. That mid-range shot makes him very serviceable. He is a starter like most of the other Knick players — if there is no one better on the team. But he brings good game plus intangibles to the table — hard work and TEAM attitude is an absolute necessity. A star needs players like David Lee. I bet that if you ask Kobe, LeBron, Dwade and others about DLee, they would play with him.

Keep David Lee but don’t get carried away about it. He has limitations. Fortunately, unlike a Jared Jeffries, he knows how to play within those limitations on the offensive end. (Jeffries is a bold mutha. You would figure by now that after two years of offensive fouls and under the basket mishaps, he would stop driving to the basket from the top of the key. But no, he takes the ball full-court and still tries to drive through defenders. That is one tenacious mug. I would have pulled his ass and sent in Balkman after that play.)

Funny how we are now getting visitors who want to come in and gloat now that it is clear that the Knicks chances are fatally diminished. The clear sense I get is that posters who have been anti-Thomas now feel safe to bring that diatribe into this arena. What they fail to understand however is that discussions about Thomas and the Knicks has always been diverse, but focused on making the Knicks better.

But it’s all good, because the posters here have spent an entire season creatively and intelligently dissecting the Knicks organization and game. If you read this site, despite very critical New York fanatics, you will find posters who actually pay attention to the game and the season as it develops and who are dedicated to improving the the team (even when they talk about tanking). There are very few posters on here who spend the “majority” of their time reiterating the same inaccurate analysis game after game after season after season, with the hopes that eventually a inaccurate generalization will find some support in fact. But Knick Defense is certainly supportive of diversity.

Did Isiah destroy Curry’s confidence as a GM? Did he destroy Stephon’s confidence?

An answer of yes to either question makes absolutely no sense. First of all, Curry’s confidence was suspect well before Isiah decided to trade for him. It has been well documented by the MSM, comments by Jamal, Quentin, Isiah and observations the legion of Knick fanatics that what’s in between Curry’s head and in his heart is the toughest opponent to the development of his skills. Previously, Peaceman posted the pre-draft report which indicated the same problem.

Furthermore, the current problem with Curry began because Curry was out of shape and not ready to play this season. Curry’s so-called confidence went farther into the tank because he was not ready to play NBA ball. Analysts keep harping on the pairing of ZBo and Curry like their alleged inability to play in the post together is the major problem — yeah, playing in the post on defense is more like it. Curry sucked on defense all season long and he should have been seated much earlier than he was and Morris should have been on the court much earlier than he was. Blame Zeke for showing confidence in Curry when he should not have, but to blame him for destroying his confidence is way off base.

When did Stephon lose confidence in his game? Isn’t it more likely that Stephon lost confidence in his coach and his teammates?

  196. Let’s rephrase that:

When did Stephon lose confidence in his game? Isn’t it more likely that Stephon lost confidence in his coach, general manager, neighbor, friend and teammates?

How could one escape the thought that both Isiah and Stephon together makes two punks in a pod?

Dolan has a decision to make unless he has already made it. Stephon or Isiah? If it is based on money, keeping Stephon is probably cheaper and better for the organization. Unless, Stephon can be traded for a disgruntled superstar, his expiring contract is heavenly. Zeke can be bought out although after paying off Brown and Anucha that was probably not Dolan’s preference?

Does anyone believe that Stephon’s appearance was the result of the press pressure regarding the banning of a player? or do you think it was a quick response to the thought that the Players Association was thinking about intervening on behalf of Stephon? I would suggest that the Knicks are adverse to the notion of buying out a player: see Steve Francis and Jerome James.

  197. I like Wilson Chandler, but boy wait until he really hits his stride: the Knicks might be unlucky enough to see Vince Carter redux, because I am afraid that he will fall in love with that mid-range jumper instead of battling in the hole where he will be most useful. I also do not see any signs that he has a propensity for driving to the basket. That would make him really, really useful.

  198. From my current observations, Morris is definitely the better investment. What he is and is going to be is much clearer? What Chandler is going to be with his skill set is less clear. The problem is that a player like Chandler needs a good situation and a good coach to reach his potential. Morris is easier to figure out, I think.

  200. Riddle me this?

What happens on the offensive end that makes a Curry/Zbo pairing ineffective?

Seriously, can someone explain what ZBo’s presence does that makes Curry so ineffective? This is an excellent time to come up with the answer since Curry’s improved play seems to coincide with the injury to ZBo. With Zbo out of the line-up, Curry seems more graceful and less reliant on bulldozing opponents with a lowered shoulder. Curry also seems to have more room to jump and block shots. Curry seems to have more room to also raise his arms when a potential rebound is near. What is is about having another dominant post presence that made Curry so ineffective? I really want to understand the mechanics of this dilemma. HELP ME PLEASE.

  202. Peace,

Its a lottery bro. Knicks will get a top pick. I’m hoping thats what Stern meant when he said he is encouraged for the team next year. Everything is coming up Rose’s. One coming in and one going out !

  203. @ Lives, post 199..

It’s all about personalities with these two, and because Zbo is the stronger personality of the two, Curry defers to Zbo.

Because Curry has been the “guy” everywhere he’s been and has been coddled every step of the way, he’s never had to compete or work to improve a day in his life.

    Hence the meltdown.

Curry needs to take stock of himself this offseason…I mean, really take an honest self-assessment. If he makes an honest effort to get in shape and dedicate himself to his craft, he has a bright future in this league for many years.

If he doesn’t, we could very well be looking at the next Kevin Duckworth or Joe Barry Carroll.

  204. Continuation of post #202…

Again, the blame falls squarely on Zeke’s shoulders.

He’s been around Curry for two years, and should’ve been well aware of his extremely fragile mental psyche. He should’ve had the sense and foresight not to pair Zbo with Curry…that it would stunt his growth. It seems that Zeke was seduced by the 20/10 thingy, which in effect was “fools gold” as far as the Knicks as a team is concerned.

African, where ever you are, don’t get it twisted bruh…I’m not laying the blame on Zbo either. I’m merely saying that Zeke should have realized the propensity of this occurance before he acquired Zach.

The bottom line here is that Curry has to man up and take responsibility to improve……mentally and physically.

  205. I’ll Be Damn!!! I am LATE to the POSTING PARTY again…

    Good AM Defenders!

I see everyone has been chiming in on last night’s game…After thoroughly reading all of your posts, it was so interesting to connect the dots between what I saw during the game and reading your comments after in terms of what you Defenders were seeing also..

@LIVES Posts #187, 194-197, were excellent posts and I do agree with you observations and perspectives on Marbury, DLee, especially Curry, and on the diversity of thought and opinion on KNICKDEFENSE. I’ve stated it before, this THREAD has some of the MOST PASSIONATE and INSIGHTFUL KNICK FANS ANYWHERE…Secondly, I have had the privilege to meet some, and they are also GREAT HUMAN BEINGS…

I also agree with your assessment of Morris at present, but we differ somewhat on Chandler…Like Bronx in a post last evening, when you have BALLED A BIT on the REAL, no body likes playing with a SOFT BIG MAN, and you also see talent differently, because you’re looking for different things…

The Kid has the all of the prerequisite tools to be Good NBA player, but in watching him the last few games you can tell that he has not been coached in the areas that need improvement to elevate his game. This kid should be working on his handle, agility, and his understanding of angles(Offensively and Defensively), and his BBALL IQ…If this kid had a decent handle right now, he could create his own shot and he would be a better post-up player that could be used against teams that employ the smaller line-ups, which many teams do today…Let’s be clear I did not say he would be a star, but a GOOD NBA player (His physicality, good shot, good passer, defensive oriented, solid rebounder for his position, great leaper/with shot blocking ability). Good Coaching, a work ethic, and game expereince is ALL this kid needs and he could be a Stephen Jackson/Turkgolu/David West type of player. That is what I saw in Vegas, and that is what a lot other people saw too…And, it is what I see now…

And, let me add a little something, something on this Curry issue. At the recent Knick vs. Wizards game, MODI stated, “He would like to have an opportunity to see Curry get the minutes he’s accustomed to without ZBO in the line-up, and see how he produces,” and over the last two or three games we have, and he’s has played better offensively (we expected as much, or though still turnover prone), he is trying to play better defensive, but his BBALL IQ is low and his slow feet, and He is exactly WHAT WE THOUGHT HE WAS, a ONE DIMESNSIONAL Ball Player…But we also learned one other thing about Curry this season, we DEFINITELY know now HE HAS NO HEART and NO DESIRE to get better…THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE! During the long and drawn out debate about ZBO and Curry, for me it was not about whether ZBO was better or Curry was worst, it was the perspective that one player totally destroyed the Chemistry of the team, when this team’s chemistry wasn’t all that great before he arrived…and, one player had more skills but selfish, and the other had limited skills and selfish too..We need to get rid of them both…We will never reach the next level with either…

Although mathematically we have not been eliminated from the playoffs, it appears we may be in line for the Ping Pong Party. If that is the case, we need to draft or trade for that 3 WAY ELITE PLAYER/TEAM LEADER that along with a Ron Artest via free agency, can reinvigorate this Premier Franchise and take us to the next level (we need the ULTIMATE GO TO PLAYER ON BOTH ENDS OF THE COURT)…OH, and HAVE MONTY ARRESTED and sent to Siberia or some far off distant land like CHICAGO…HE AIN’T GOT TO GO HOME, BUT HE’S GOT TO GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE…He sucks as a coach…his playbook must be two pages…LOL LOL LOL

    That’s my Humble Opinion…

    Keep it POPPIN!

By Cooleyhigh on Mar 6, 2008 at 10:59 am

  206. My man Cooley…

You’re never late, bruh. Your input is always right on time!!

    Welcome to the postin’ party!!

By Bronxboy in Md on Mar 6, 2008 at 11:11 am

  207. Man Cooley, if I had that kind of opinionating I would never add the “humble” disclaimer. You’re a cool dude.

Seriously, we absolutely agree on your assessment of Chandler. Absolutely. I think he can play ball in this league and my reference to “Carter redux” was shorthand for all that you stated. I am not a big fan of the Vince Carter of post injury vintage. I don’t think he plays up to his skill level or his salary level. Two years at DePaul have not made Chandler the best he can be with those physical attributes he brings to the table. Without good coaching and training he will not be any more than a “good” player. A nice handle that would allow him to penetrate as fearlessly as he moves otherwise would make him a very good player.

All that you state about CHandler is why I like Morris a bit better. We can see what Morris is going to be and can be. I have no idea what Chandler is going to be. Right now he is a potential NBA journeyman jumping off the bench every once in a while. I bet if he played for Jerry Sloan he would become at least as good as a Drew Gooden. It will be interesting to see if he cna navigate NBA politics better than DNice and others have been able to. Chandler made it this far, probably in part because he is a DePaul boy. If Zeke is on the way out, then Chandler may not be a teachers pet — either way he still needs a teacher.

  208. That’s what botehrs me Bronx, is that this is all psychic trauma. It kinda makes you sick to the stomach.

I’m not sure about suggesting that Zeke should have known. I think if Curry fell out from a heart attack then we could say that Zeke should have known Curry’s fragility. But if he expected Curry to get softer with the presence of another dominant player, then he should have traded Curry on the spot. I think the fact that Curry’s performance so much outshined soft Frye, who declined with Curry’s strong presence in the post, misled us to believe that Curry actually had enough heart, BBall IQ and desire to make the adjustment. If your psychic assessment is correct then I blame MSG for not spending the appropriate funds on a team psychiatrist, motivational speaker or Tony Robbins tapes for Curry.

Really, Curry’s psychological issues should be blamed on Curry. I mean really who plays in the NBA, men or children? Can’t these guys grow up and act like men a little sooner than they are these days. I am only being partially facetious but I think part of the problems we are seeing psychologically speaking have to do with the youth of many of these players. When you listen to Clyde and t
