Knicks at Raptors

by knicksdefense on February 24, 2008

Good win the other night by our Knicks. Jamal got hot, Zach had another solid game, and Lee came in off the bench and produced. So we were able to close them out, but like so many of the defenders have said already, Jamal isn’t always going to shoot like that, so the keys to a victory today up in Toronto may be a little different. Jamal, when he gets going like that, is fun to watch however. As Gus Johnson would say, “Crawford has in-the-gym range!”

The game time tonight is slated for 6pm.

The Knicks have to take care of the basketball, play tight defense, and, like everybody’s been saying lately, move the ball. If they do these things, can they make it two on a row? In a few hours we find out.

I did get to see some of the #2 Tennessee vs #1 Memphis last night, what a great game. This guy Prince on Tennessee is just a heck of a competitor, they gave it 110% in terms of rebounding and defense and knocked out the undefeated Memphis to take their #1 ranking in the nation.

Derrick Rose looked like the real deal. We’ll see more from him during March Madness, but just going from last night, he can be a leader in the NBA. He had 24, 5, 5 and did whatever the game required him to do at that moment. Good ability to go coast to coast and finish at the rack, solid defense, got his teammates involved, can drive to the basket and take a hit, can pull up and stick the jumper, reminds me a little of D Wade. He might be a little short to play the two guard in NBA, but we’ll have to wait and see how his game translates at the NBA level. Dumars was a hall of fame two guard and he was the same height as Rose. Right now it looks like Rose or Beasley will go #1 and #2 in the draft, Beasley did had 44 and 13 last night, but his team also lost.

Free Wilson Chandler!

Good Afternoon Defenders

At some point I’m hoping a win like Friday’s will start to turn this season for us.

I keep hoping.

We have to continue to share the ball(i.e Craw,Zach) and keep active hands on defense.

We can do this!!

Go Knicks!!!!

3 Steady February 24, 2008 at 4:13 pm

It looks like no team in Stern’s NBA is immune to the drubbing on national TV.

Nate needs to find his offense if Craw is double teamed tonight.
Knicks need to man up, drive to the paint @ Bosh ..get him in foul trouble,
have a little luck and we can and will win tonight….we got this!

I like that Peaceman:

“MAN-UP”,especially ECurry(spelled with no “d”)

6 knicksdefense February 24, 2008 at 6:26 pm

i like the way nate is playing tonight, a lot of poise thus far. taking it to the basket, hitting it from outside. looks like another good game so far.

7 knicksdefense February 24, 2008 at 6:26 pm

moon just packed curry.

8 Syd February 24, 2008 at 6:38 pm

Good Start!!!! Robinson must keep up his good play to support Crawford.

9 knicksdefense February 24, 2008 at 6:40 pm

our defense is still too lax.
q is starting to miss.
six point game…

10 Bronxboy in Md February 24, 2008 at 6:43 pm

Curry’s confidence is at an all-time low right now….

He faded away on a dunk and missed, for cryin’ out lout….

Every shot he misses in the lane is, off course, a fall-away shot

He’s 6’11″, 325 lbs…why is HE afraid of contact?????

He’s getting torched on mismatches. Sam Mitchell is cleverly involving him in pick and rolls, and they’re rollin’ 7/11 everytime.

He got a tongue-lashing from N8, undoubtedly for being soft and apprehensive.

Has this man any fuggin’ pride? Doesn’t it bother him that he’s playing this way, after damn near being awarded the keys to the city, prompting the moniker “ECity”???

Yo African, I know u got some connects. Why don’t you get word to ya boy to man-up, quit playin’ like a scared little bytch, and play some damn basketball?

He needs to, and we need him to.

11 Syd February 24, 2008 at 6:45 pm

Curry seems to be rushing his shot ….he’s got to control himself

12 Bronxboy in Md February 24, 2008 at 6:50 pm

Lord, if you hear me…please take Curry out of the game…..

13 Syd February 24, 2008 at 6:51 pm

23 Jay Bee February 24, 2008 at 7:08 pm

They need to ride N8 tonight, but they won’t. On cue,Zach jacks one up for no reason.

Our heros gotta come out blazin’ with a 9-0 run and 3 hard fouls or slam dunks to break their spirits.
Then, insert VicBit here.

Jay Bee, Bronx, Steady, KD and Syd on the keyboard tonight. Good evening gents. Just got in. Decided to go directly to the game instead of DVR. Looks good.

30 Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York February 24, 2008 at 7:30 pm

Opps. Maybe I should go back to DVR.

31 Syd February 24, 2008 at 7:32 pm

Hey Lives…….

32 Syd February 24, 2008 at 7:33 pm

Knicks are forgetting this is a 3pt shooting team….

33 Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York February 24, 2008 at 7:35 pm

WHy in the funk are they doubling Bosh in favor of the three. That is absolutely crazy. They didn’t do that in the victory two days ago. Are they crazy?

34 Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York February 24, 2008 at 7:35 pm

Let Bosh take the damn shot.

35 Peaceman February 24, 2008 at 7:37 pm

All right Da Raptors had their run..time for ours!

36 Peaceman February 24, 2008 at 7:41 pm

Just got in …in time for the Raptor Run…
No sweat…Craw seems STEADY…keep this around -9
going into the 4th and let Crawford Zone on their
Canadian Azz’S!

37 Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York February 24, 2008 at 7:57 pm

4th quarter. 17 down. Unnecessarily down by 17. I don’t understand how Isiah could order a doubel with the defenders he had out there. They haven’t been able to rotate that fast in two years. Incredible.

38 Peaceman February 24, 2008 at 7:57 pm

Has Jeffries played?
Maybe he should guard Bosh..with instructions not to shoot!

39 Peaceman February 24, 2008 at 7:59 pm

Oh NO!!! No-D-CITY!!!!

40 Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York February 24, 2008 at 7:59 pm

Curry in. Are we throwing in the towel before we cut into this lead?

41 Bronxboy in Md February 24, 2008 at 8:00 pm

@ Lives..

Like Clyde said in the first half, the solution to all negating all of the open jumpers is for everybody to play their own man. Period.

42 Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York February 24, 2008 at 8:03 pm

Agreed Bronx.

43 Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York February 24, 2008 at 8:03 pm

Didn’t Crawford try to tell them he was tired?

44 Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York February 24, 2008 at 8:05 pm

Zeke coaches one good one and then coaches a bad one. I just don’t understand. Maybe Zeke is tanking games. Is that what Dolan meant when he told a fan that we will improve like last year’s Celtics. Is that the secret Stern knows? Because a Defender could coach better than this.

45 Syd February 24, 2008 at 8:07 pm

hehe

46 Steady February 24, 2008 at 8:26 pm

Lives,
The context of that statement may mean that playoffs or not, Monty comes back to finish executing “the vision” which Dolan supposedly bought into when he fired the HOF ABS coach. Still, tanking just sticks in my craw. Let’s see if we fantasy coach/GMs can will it some other way.

47 Jay Bee February 24, 2008 at 9:14 pm

We don’t got this.

48 knicksdefense February 24, 2008 at 10:17 pm

…one more loss, one step closer to Derrick Rose.

just bloggin’

49 Peaceman February 24, 2008 at 10:26 pm

With Marbury, Rose, Jones and Morris’s contract expiring next year = 38 million to
play GM with! That has to be something talked about in the MSG ” War Room.”

50 knicksdefense February 25, 2008 at 1:01 am

what is that crap on jamal’s shoulder? it has been there for a long time and appears to be growing with each game.
