Knicks at Sixers

by knicksdefense on February 20, 2008

Check out the picture of Eddy Curry on the Knicks home page and tell me, that was the best they could do? That photo is very harsh.

The five guys that played outstanding team basketball last night: Nate Robinson, Jamal Crawford, Zach Randolph, Quentin Richardson (keep it up!), David Lee. that sounds like a starting five in the east to me, but with Eddy Curry reportedly on the market, look for Lee to continue to come off the bench since his production is basically independent of starting or coming off the bench.

Apparently nothing more happened between Nate and Zach after the drink/towel-throwing incident on the bench–winning can have that healing effect on a team.

I think Zach is starting to play better defense. He’s not going to block many shots, but he’s at least staying with his man and sometimes even forcing steals. Now if the knicks could just improve their zone… I won’t say it. There are 29 games left to play, and the Knicks are 16-37. just take it one game at a time.

Knicks are giving away the game ..

2 knicksdefense February 20, 2008 at 7:49 pm

thrity point game.

3 Syd February 20, 2008 at 7:51 pm

that lead came from all the turnovers i bet

4 knicksdefense February 20, 2008 at 7:51 pm

DLT, did you see the first two times the knicks played the sixers this season? That kind of game. bad passes, getting beat down the floor, weird lineups, and the other team has more focus and energy.

5 Syd February 20, 2008 at 7:53 pm

Curry is showing something

6 PaulNoize February 20, 2008 at 7:56 pm

Crawford is such a queen on defense. i guess if he really exerted himself, his mascara would run? He just got ripped by Rodney Carney, but had two steps on him while Carney transitioned. The other eight were behind, so carney was gonna take it coast-to-coast. Jamal just doesn’t even try to jump and contest the shot, much less angrily try to break the arm of the guy who just picked his dribble.

J-Chuck with a high arcing mistake. I have long been of the thought that the four pillars of rebuilding are Nate, Craw, Lee & Balkman. i may be wrong there.

Iguodala just ripped another steal and unleashed another vicious dunk in transition. Curry blew a dunk on the other end. Whoa, just an all-around bad first half.

Seems like the Knicks don’t match up well with the Sixers.

8 Orange and Blue February 20, 2008 at 7:58 pm

Flagrant foul time next time a Sixer goes in for a dunk or uncontested layup.

I don’t care if the result is career ending!

Fuck it!

9 PaulNoize February 20, 2008 at 8:00 pm

Cunning Zach got a beautiful pass in the post, but his deft footwork stumbled with the flailing, flying, fancyfree Sixers swarming above and around the rim. traveling on z-bo.

Yeah, KD nailed it. Knicks are scared, they just want this game over already. Crawford dreads brings the ball up and initiating the offense because the ball pressure is intense at both ends.

66-32, 2:26 left.

They guys are tired man

11 D L T Knicks February 20, 2008 at 8:02 pm

Thanks KnicksD

I did see those other games……..so we DIDN’T LEARN,DIDN’T IMPROVE,like Zeke said.

12 PaulNoize February 20, 2008 at 8:03 pm

i hear you, O&B. What ever happened to the “message” foul? So you pick up a game or two suspension.

Knicks have given up 32 fast break points in THIS HALF. Sixer announcers are killing Zach & Eddy for not running back on “D”.

13 PaulNoize February 20, 2008 at 8:07 pm

Yeah Syd….they are tired.

Steve Mix just said one of the Knicks’ perimeter guys need to challenge Eddy & Zach, ask ‘em “Hey, are you guys gonna run back anytime tonight? Cuz the three of us can’t handle these five guys by ourselves!”

Course, a wise-alecky comment like that is probably grounds to stamp your foot and throw a cup of water at someone.

14 Orange and Blue February 20, 2008 at 8:07 pm

It’s like the Knicks telling Peaceman…

We aint worth believing in!

Good night everyone.

I’m going to be sick!

15 D L T Knicks February 20, 2008 at 8:08 pm

@Paul

They are not running so no team will want them in a trade.

SILVER LINING:

BEASLEY. TONIGHT.

on ESPN2 Kansas St versus Nebraska 9pm

after the knicks game, it’s scouting time. I haven’t seen the kid play much, but I look forward to it.

18 Charles Follymacher February 20, 2008 at 8:11 pm

16 turnovers b4 the half. looky, they’re bakin a big apple turnover. (heh. sorry ;-) ) o well. 29 games to go. that’s both the good news and the bad news.

19 PaulNoize February 20, 2008 at 8:14 pm

Haha DLT, we can rule out THAT excuse since they are both on record this season as saying they wouldn’t mind being traded out of NY. Clearly, neither one is very happy nor optimistic at this point.

Even Balkman looked sluggish and a step slow out there. Sixers might also be energized about the extension for Coach Cheeks, who knows? The silver lining is that this game is so out of hand that Zeke might try some creativity in the second half, shake things up a little bit. i want more of JEROME JAMES, NBA STARTING POWER FORWARD!

20 Peaceman February 20, 2008 at 8:16 pm

Lets see what knick team walks out of the Locker room!
If there is a team in the NBA that can blow a 30 point
plus lead…there both on the court in Philly tonight!
The fat lady ain’t sang yet! Lets go knicks!

21 Syd February 20, 2008 at 8:16 pm

He better do something different

22 Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York February 20, 2008 at 8:18 pm

Are the Knicks playing tonight?

23 Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York February 20, 2008 at 8:19 pm

Didn’t the Sixers get their azzes beat last night?

24 Peaceman February 20, 2008 at 8:20 pm

Sorry peeps but Beasley is “Ed O’Bannon 2″ just waiting to happen!

25 Syd February 20, 2008 at 8:20 pm

nope …not tonight

26 knicksdefense February 20, 2008 at 8:21 pm

“The silver lining is that this game is so out of hand that Zeke might try some creativity in the second half, shake things up a little bit”

when is the last time randolph morris, or wilson chandler, or big snaxx got more than four minutes of PT? even in a very large blowout such as this one, I doubt they’ll get to double-figures in minutes.

that’s how mardy’s career got jacked. as a rookie last year, he rotted on the bench for the entire season and then all of a sudden was playing 38 NBA minutes a night during the last month of the season. he had to have secret knee surgery once the season was over, and hasn’t been the same player so far coming back from it.

27 Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York February 20, 2008 at 8:21 pm

O&B, which knucklehead called you “Opie.” Let me at him. I’ll go down to Maryland and take of it for you.

28 Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York February 20, 2008 at 8:23 pm

The Knicks are cracking me up. Send them home.

29 Syd February 20, 2008 at 8:23 pm

wow ..just not going the Knicks way.

30 Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York February 20, 2008 at 8:24 pm

KD, this is a good opportunity to let Curry get some confidence back.

31 Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York February 20, 2008 at 8:26 pm

O’k, I’m thinking about Toronto. They require defensive effort.

Why do the Knicks look like they don’t practice?

Wow, Iggie. The 76ers are not this good.

32 PaulNoize February 20, 2008 at 8:28 pm

LOL, Willie Green just threw an elbow after battling two teammates for an uncontested rebound. Sammy was semi-wrestling for it and Willie threw an elbow, shit cracks me up.

Drexel product Malik Rose in. What, you were expecting Randolph Morris? =)

33 Steady February 20, 2008 at 8:29 pm

The NYK will make this a GAME in the 4th.

O’k time for me to press record and go drink some vino with my wife. Maybe she’ll be impressed that I am choosing to hang with her instead of the Knicks. I just won’t tell her the score.

35 Syd February 20, 2008 at 8:31 pm

heh

36 Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York February 20, 2008 at 8:34 pm

Peace, I’m not covetous, but Artest looks mighty good right about now.

Oh Gentlemen, I recommend that you pick up or visit the bookstores to read the current edition of ESPN the magazine. There is an interesting piece regarding the racial perception of fans regarding the NBA. There is a great article on Stephen Jackson who has a very engaging story. I like his game. I cna see why he and Artest on the same team was intimidating as hell. Walsh was very upset about trading Jackson, but the fan pressure was too great. Jackson seems like quite a guy. He has that Sprewell energy.

37 Syd February 20, 2008 at 8:34 pm

I miss Taz tho

38 Steady February 20, 2008 at 8:34 pm

Lives,
BRILLIANT. I retract my previous post. Thought it was the first half still. I’m embarrassed.

39 knicksdefense February 20, 2008 at 8:35 pm

chandler in…

40 knicksdefense February 20, 2008 at 8:38 pm

stephen jackson is a hell of a player. we could use him although I’m sure nellie isn’t going to let him go from golden state. he’s captain of the team if i am not mistaken.

41 PaulNoize February 20, 2008 at 8:39 pm

LOL, Lives. Sip and chill and leave this sad scene behind for a minute. =)

42 D L T Knicks February 20, 2008 at 8:39 pm

@Paul

I guess they are JUST bad players!

43 knicksdefense February 20, 2008 at 8:39 pm

sweet move by chandler.

44 D L T Knicks February 20, 2008 at 8:40 pm

Keep in mind ….this is PHILLY.

45 PaulNoize February 20, 2008 at 8:44 pm

Artest sure would not have been too tired to prevent a 72-36 first half!

But now that Bibby is gone, he is relaxing his rhetoric and saying he might stay.

Chandler blocked by at least two Sixers on that drive. i covet, a little. =(

46 Steady February 20, 2008 at 8:46 pm

Who wrote this script? Could Mo be sending a message to Monty keeping the starters in with a 40pt. lead or is he working out some kinks in his line-up for the playoff run? Dios mio!!

47 HarleminMD February 20, 2008 at 8:48 pm

We are down by 45 and holding the ball for the last shot.

Ridiculous.

48 PaulNoize February 20, 2008 at 8:48 pm

Wow, Malik just dribbled his way right through the lane, past a cadre of Sixer defenders, and deftly laid it in for a slick layup. Except the buzzer went off before he released the shot. Sigh.

49 Steady February 20, 2008 at 8:49 pm

I covet some E’s for my squad: Encouragement, Energy, EFFORT!
Let’s see what tomorrow brings. Steady as IT goes.
