Knicks Down Time
February 11, 2008 – 2:30 amWell they finally pulled it off, congrats to the Knicks for breaking their losing streak against the Bucks. I thought for sure once Crawford lost the ball during the isolation play at the top of the key, that the Knicks would give the game away because that has been their M.O. this season. Yet we do well in that building, and it was this time last season that Eddy Curry hit that three point shot at the buzzer to push overtime, Eddy came away with a career high that game of 43 and the knicks got the victory as they did this past Saturday.
With the next game slated for Wednesday night in Boston, the Knicks can rest up for a few days and meditate on how they were able to close out the Bucks on the road Saturday night. The Knicks have let so many games slip between their fingers, if they could figure it out immediately, the playoffs would still be a remote possibility.
I honestly don’t take much pleasure in watching other NBA teams when the Knicks are off. We have NBA league pass in our home, but that is because my brother is an Orlando Magic fan, otherwise, there would be no reason to have it, I only follow the Knicks.
But I have no problem watching NCAA division I basketball, and with the Knicks at the bottom of the Atlantic Division, I am going to try these last few weeks before March Madness to keep track of the up-and-comers with scheduled TV appearances. If trends continue, the Knicks may be in a position to draft one of these young talents.
As of 02-11-08, these are the top five projected lottery picks listed on nbadraft.net. I wouldn’t read too much into projections at this time, but it does give us an outline to lookup some televised games.

woopeee we beat the lowly Bucks ! We did not beat a relevant team and we did not “turn the corner” as they say. I know this win will spur some hope in the over-faithful but it won’t be long before you are back to earth. The C’s are up next.

No beef just veggies…
But I do believe they’ve turned a corner in a relative sense.
Before the Knicks were on losing streaks where they were losing by double digits, and worse it happened at home and away.
At least at this juncture the Knicks were in basically every game-except for the game against the red hot Utah Jazz- and could have won a couple save for let downs relating to coaching, inexperience, and fatigue on the part of the gaurds.
I believe the trend of playing competitively and learning how to eventually close out tight games will serve the Knicks well should they either make the playoffs or have to start from scratch next year.
There are difficult lessons to be learned, sure they should have been learned a few years back had the deck not been shuffled by the HOF coach, and recently by Monty- but at least now all are learning what to do in those situations, and Monty is realizing the errors of his ways with regards to his twin fat boy offense.

Useful post Blogzilla. Very useful–even for a non-covetous type like Steady.
JohnQ, there’s no such thing as “over-faithful”. Faith is a heuristic concept. One can’t justify how or if it works. You either have it or you don’t. Someone more qualified than me here can answer what “it” is.

Monday, February 11, 2008 – Directed Faith
“Directed faith is not a vague, hazy, wishful yearning. It is a powerful belief of expectancy that causes the universe to send us wonderful things.”
~Edwene Gaines
Today’s quote was taken from: The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity
Today’s Affirmation
I am filled with faith and open to my good.
Today’s Meditation
Dear God,
You have given me the power of faith to help me direct the flow of my life.
My faith is like a laser beam that cuts precisely to its goal.
As I surrender all false beliefs and old resentments, my heart becomes a magnet for my soul’s greater good.
Thank You, God, for the power of faith that draws to me all that I need.
Amen
Even to our beloved NYK and ALL our passions, DIRECTED FAITH applies.

Good AM DEFENDERS!
Steady as it Goes…JohnQ…
“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen.”
Hebrews Chapter 11, verse 1
For a couple of weeks now, I have refrained from posting anything Basketball related. MY time on the Left Coast for the Super Bowl was exciting and good time was had by all. On my way back to Right Coast, I learned of the death of a beloved college classmate who suffered a massive heart attack while taping the news on Channel 9 in the District. I am headed to his funeral in a few minutes. On Saturday, one of my younger cousins was shot and killed early Saturday morning in the Southeast section of the District. He was shot in the head and in the face. A brief description of this scenario is in the Metro Section of today’s Washington Post(although his name wasnot mentioned).
I mention this, because as LIVES so eloquently mentioned on a former THREAD, there are simply more important things than the State of the New York Knicks. And, even though I AM EXTRMEMLY passionate about my TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) and this FANTASTIC HOME AWAY FROM HOME for passionate Knick Fans, I believe what we have done as members of the FORCE MD’S/DC’S is what life is ALL about. We have turned FANSHIP into FELLOWSHIP progessing in the direction of TRUE FRIENDSHIP. Life is fleeting and extremely fragile…How we invest OUR time and resources with ONE ANOTHER and HOW WE IMPACT THE LIVES of OUR Brothers and Sisters is far more significant than whether ECITY is better than ZBO; whether JCRAW is a true point guard; or whether MONTY is shuffling a new deck of cards; or OUR INVESTMENT in being RIGHT…I invite ALL DEFENDERS to come and visit with the FORCE MD’S/DC’s when your schedule permits, because we are in the process of creating something special down here and ALL ARE WELCOME…If you don’t see value in what we’re doing we respect your position…We only ask that if you come visit, please bring your TRUE LIFE FORCE WITH YOU, and the rest will take care of itself…I will leave you ALL with a Good Word to ponder and digest when you are grounded in the Center of Your Silence…PEACE
OVERCOME OPPOSITION!
Scripture:
A wide door has been opened to me and with it are many adversaries (I Corinthians 16:9).
Discussion:
God is always giving us opportunities to move forward in life. It is God’s desire that you grow and reach your full potential. Any time you take a step forward, the enemy will try to bring opposition and adversity against you. God promises that through Him, you can overcome any opposition the enemy brings your way.
When you step out in faith and opposition comes, stand your ground and keep doing what you know to do. Keep on praying, reading the Bible, going to church and walking in love and forgiveness. Keep your heart tender and speak words of hope and victory over your life. When the enemy sees you are more determined than he is, he’ll back down and you’ll move forward to new levels of victory! Stay focused and full of joy no matter what comes against you. You will overcome opposition and walk through the door the Lord has opened to you!
Prayer for Today:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for this day and for every opportunity to advance in life. I ask for the wisdom to make the right choices, and I determine to stand on Your promises. I thank You that You are bigger than any problem I may encounter. Thank You for loving me and setting me free to walk in victory today. Amen.
Steady as it Goes & John Q, I’m quite sure you were not expecting this type of post, but I generally go where the Great Spirit Leads Me and I was compelled to share these words with MY DEFENDER FAMILY…
Lastly, all DEFENDERS in the Chesapeake Region, I pray you will exercise your right to vote on tomorrow….For whom you vote does not matter…

Don’t get me wrong, I would absolutely love to be able to say that they deffinitely turned a corner. I still think they play up or down to the competition. I still think they make just enough stupid mistakes to lose close games. I still think they are poorly coached. I still think EC is an overweight, undermotivated shlub. They beat Milwaukee, big F’ing deal. They may have turned the corner, but I have a feeling they are still stuck on the same street. All roads lead to the lottery for us.

Man shall not live by bread alone. Man must live by faith — faith in himself and faith in others. However beastly man may be, we must believe in him and rely on him. . . .Man must believe that however hard the road, however difficult today, tomorrow things will be better. Tomorrow may not be better; but we must believe that it will be. Wars may never cease, but we must continue to strive to eliminate them . . . .In other words, man must live by faith in God — faith to believe that God sustains good and not evil, peace and not war, truth and not lies, justice and not injustice. . .
– Benjamin E. Mays (1895-1984)

Cooley,
My deepest condolences for your losses. The words shared by our friends earlier in the week certainly apply here. However, a heart must be struck harder at the death of one too young, with much life and living ahead of him or her. There are few pains as great as losing a parent, but there is nothing so tragic as losing a child.
Everyone should give their love one an extra kiss and hug today as thanks for God’s gracious gift of life. Let that gift empower you to break through any barrier that promises to repel that love, that desire to honor the benefactor of life.
True, there is no such thing as over-faithful. Steady as it goes. Certainly your faith may waiver, but in the final analysis either you are faithful or your are not.
I am faithful, Cooley. Peace, Blessings and Love.

Harlem:
Two sides to every coin.
Why don’t you highlight(from your numbers)that he’s shooting 66% from the field and only getting six shots per game.
Cawford is shooting what?? 25% and taking 20 shots per game?
Why don’t you highlight he’s shooting 70% from the line and actually getting to the line?
Noooo! You’re on Knickdefense…sorry CurryDump, so that wouldn’t fit the profile of this site.
You don’t want to lose your popularity and “credibility” would you? Not here!!
Why didn’t you put up Crawford’s numbers?
By African on Feb 11, 2008 at 1:56 pm
Curry averaged 14 per with six shots!
Wow!
By African on Feb 11, 2008 at 1:59 pm
African,
I like Curry. He IS suffering from not having a PG, but come on now. He is averaging 27 minutes per game with only 3.5 rebounds. Crawford’s FG% is suffering from desperation shots and logging alot of minutes. Sure, he takes plenty of bad shots, but there is NO excuse for a 6′11″ guy to average 3.5 rebounds.
We are suffering from our opponent having too many offensive rebounds. We need to rebound better.
I just suggested that Wallace would be a good fit for Curry and the Knicks.
Still, Curry has to do better.
By HarleminMD on Feb 11, 2008 at 2:26 pm
Harlem:
I’m not debating Curry anymore.
All I’m saying is that there’s always two sides to a coin.
Why mention the tail, and not the head?
Rather impressive numbers if you flip it. Isn’t it?
No beef. Just pointing out the obvious.
By African on Feb 11, 2008 at 2:33 pm
I know, you have spoken on that plenty of times. Just rebutting your response.
You also mention only 6 shots. Is he not the first option in our offense at the start of every game? There are many reasons why he only gets 6 shots off.
High turnovers
Doesn’t readily recognize defense
Decides to shoot even when he is double-,triple-teamed
Tries to go “through” his defender like a bull instead of a patient power post.
When he is right, he is dominant. when he is wrong…
Doesn’t matter. We’re on the clock for the 2008 NBA draft. Let’s gather those ping-pong balls and wait for a new coach to arrive.
By HarleminMD on Feb 11, 2008 at 2:48 pm

Harlem,
Don’t be so sure that a new coach will come. Monty has already hung the season on the youthful roster and the loss of Marbury (due to the passing of his dad and the ill-advised surgery on his ankle). Monty’s got built-in excuses every year. he and Dolan have an understanding and script. We the fans are left out in the dark (about the NYK plans). Sho’ Nuff–H2O is looking pretty good right now. He would not go 6/22 on consecutive nights (if he could suit up that is). Let’s just be still and see what is on the horizon.

There is such a thing as faith and then there is blind faith. The Knicks will not make the playoffs. Anyone who really expects them to is hanging on to fleeting hopes. Are you hoping to get smacked around in the 1st round and get a #9 pick ?
African, the other side of the coin states that EC’s 68% doesn’t outweigh the points he gives up so why mention it ? Even when he dominates that one side of the ball, he gives up as many points as he puts up. I like to call it the vaccuum effect. I don’t know why you continue to ride his nuts. He’s not who you think he is.

Still a fan though of the orange and blue, but this is painful.
By HarleminMD on Feb 11, 2008 at 4:44 pm
Harlem,
I hear ya bruh–the patience and loyalty come as a Steady pair. As Monty said, I’m loyal to Ws and no one individual. It just seems to me that Dolan has prima facia evidence to make a move but he’s staying the course like he did with the Rangers. Imagine if the Giants went trigger happy early on in the season. The Giants would not have had the ship today. We’re not in that conversation yet for the NYK. I just think that Monty has got JDolan on a long con instead of the 3-card short con. Thus, it means buckle up with the Ps–patience, prayer and lots of popcorn.

I’d rather have “faith” in a team that “works.” This team does not play defense, is weak-minded, has a low basketball-IQ, and is terrible to watch. Our Forward and Center cannot block a shot. Our Center cannot rebound. Our guards cannot feed the post and take horrible shots. Even if they become the 8th seed, they have no shot in the playoffs.
That’s not being fairweather, that’s being realistic.
I didn’t think Ewing’s teams would ever beat Jordan’s Bulls, but I knew they would COMPETE.
Sprewell was smaller than most of the SF’s that he defended, but he COMPETED every night and made big shots, along with Alan.
This formula is not working. We have given it 3 years.
That doesn’t make me less of a fan. Those of you who want to make the playoffs must work for Dolan, who is happy to have the Garden open for a series or two.
I want a REAL TEAM, one that has qualities of a champion.

But are there keepers on this team.
Some would say that neither Curry nor Steph can remain.
I would tend to agree. But do you suggest blowing up the whole team and every player on it to start from absolute zero?
I wouldn’t think that to be the best approach. There are some here who are learning on the job despite suspect performances by the coach, structural design flaws, and team cancers.
All musn’t go!
If what most clamor for happens and a new GM comes in, I hope that person does what’s prudent, and not merely moves to put his stamp on the team.
Isiah did some of that stamping and look at him now!
Use and develope those who show they want’ to be here and can contribute.
Those who fail to show their commitment to the team the city and its desire for a 3rd chip in 35 years dump them and send them on the next hot thing smoking.
But as I said before tanking for tankings sake is rolling the dice in the hopes a good wind will catch the Knicks.
Fighting and trying and competing and learning despite the obstacles from within and without will carry over regardless of whether the team is drating wihtin the top 5, top 10, or in the playoffs.

Aren’t you tired of seeing guys not guarding the perimeter? The guard rotates up to a guy when the ball is rotated and stay a step away, fearing he may drive even if he is strictly a jumpshooter? So the guy just raises up and takes the easy shot?
Aren’t you tired of seeing our guys remain flatfooted when the opponent takes the shot, giving the opponent a wide open look? (Crawford does it EVERY TIME).
Aren’t you tired of seeing our team trying to run a pick-and-roll, the forward setting the pick rolls to the basket and the guard, instead of throwing the tough pass to the forward (WHO IS WIDE OPEN), throws the ball to the weakside, totally ruining the whole design of the play?
Boston beat Spurs on Sunday with great defense. They had a rookie (Glen Davis) defending Duncan. They have won games with Garnett out and only 1 All-star having a typical game. They get up in your face. They know how to get into a defensive stance.
That’s what I want to see.
By HarleminMD on Feb 11, 2008 at 10:26 pm
@ Harlem,
I feel your passion bruh, and I agree.
As boring as Van Gundy’s Knick teams were, they did compete. They played tough, intelligent defense. If ANYBODY missed an assignment or defensive rotation, he gave em’ clipboards and made em’ assistant coaches.
He would despise Curry. In fact, he would be worse on him than Skiles.
I think he’d feel he could work with Zach because he does compete. In fact, he’d make Zach a better player.
I never thought I’d miss Van Gundy’s style so much.
By Bronxboy in Md on Feb 11, 2008 at 10:39 pm
You know what Bronx,
Even though he wears teams out, they defend better. Houston is a much better defensive team. VG told everyone that Yao must be the focus. Houston is finally understanding that. Too bad VG could not be there to see it.
VG is stubborn. He did not like Bonzi and Bonzi has become Houston’s best defender.
Yeah, I miss VG too. I see no reason why we can’t bring him back You know, like Billy Martin made comebacks, so can VG.
By HarleminMD on Feb 11, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Harlem,
We need to get back to that defense-first mentality. Hell, we were the ones that made playing defense fashionable.
Where did the chant begin?
What was the bedrock of our two championship teams?
All the Knick teams that competed for the chip in the 90’s, what was the common denominator?
I rest my case.
People seem to think a great defensive squad is anchored in the middle, and in most cases that’s true…but seeing how we have a gaping hole in ours, the next most important position is out front, on the perimeter.
Your point guard sets the tone. HE MUST DEFEND!!
People talk about Mayo (hell, nobody talks about him anymore…where did he go????…..lol) and Rose, but if I had my pick….
Give me Mario Chalmers.
He’s gonna make some coach look like a genius. Remember that.
By Bronxboy in Md on Feb 11, 2008 at 11:22 pm
I’ll sign on with the Van Gundy redux!
Still don’t think the team should tank for tankings sake.
Wouldn’t VG wear out quickly though?
Is there a longer term solution?
Or is the NYC a place that fosters coaching burnout?

Heck he was an enforcer typ with the Bad boy Pistons, and he is use to coaching a bunch of girls!

Van Gundy? Give me a freaken break!
He took over a Knick team that had a defensive culture
after Nellie was shown the door, shortly post Riley!
JVG couldn’t get it done in Houston with 2 super stars
in Tmac and Yao! 1999 Knicks were a 6th seed in a shortened season.
We played .500 ball and made it to the finals!
The last 8 games were ours but we blew them! The coach did not make
unforced turnovers or miss free throws! The tudes here had we won those
games that we found a way to lose would be different! We’d be 25-31
and in 7th seed.
This core has a bright future! Look no further than getting rid
of Curry and Q and maybe Zach and we can play on to better times!
Face the facts that Dolan is going no where and as long as he owns
the Knicks Zeke is going no where, he’s our coach for the next three
years….so get used to it!

Some Knick related speculation.
Seems like Bytch Lawrence, in addition to dreaming of Frank Asswhola’s load in his mouth, also comes up with unamed sources talking about the Knicks looking to trade both Curry and Randolph.
However a lesser known animal Mike Puma fromt the NY Post has an article which notes that the Knicks and Thomas won’t just make deals for the purposes of making deals.
Whose fantasizing, you tell me.
Some pity time for the quite yet long suffering Malik Rose, as the Bergen Record’s, Steve Adameck, ask Thomas to release teh veteran foward.
Always ready Freddy Jones mulls his eventual loss of playing time upon Nates Robinson’s return from a bruised quad.

DEE-FENDERS,
Zach is a keeper. He plays hard, rebounds and is not a nice guy. Isiah complains that the Knicks
have too many nice guys (I agree). Isiah’s dilemna is that Nice guys won’t complain, will tolerate B.S., and
are good people to be around off the court. Guys that are not considered nice, won’t kiss azz, will
speak their mind, and can be a pain in the butt. Zach falls into the latter, and the Knicks do not know how to handle this kind of individual. The short answer is to be honest. If Zach is hustling and rebounding, while Curry is
lazy and won’t rebound , then SIT Curry. Unfortunately Isiah sat Zach, as if to say Zach was the problem. A few DEE-FENDERS agreed, overlooking that Curry was not in shape,is not driven, and is OK with getting points and not doing anything else. In other words, Curry is what Chicago thought.
PING

Peaceman, are you predicting the Knicks will win 25 out of the next 31?

African’s starting 5…………
Nate, F Jones, Balkman, Lee, and Chunky. We’d get blown out by 40 every night. Where does your scoring come from ? If we could protect a lead JC wouldn’t be desperately heaving shots at the end of every game. You can beat on Jamal and Zach for hogging the ball but who the hell else would you trust to take a high pressure shot ?

Whoa!!
AFRI-CAN,
Zeke & the entire team have killed the season. African, not one Knick has played to expectations.
Curry is the MAJOR REASON for the downfall. Look at 76ERS. Dalembert rebounds, blocks shots, plays D,
and can pass. 76ers w/ less talent have better record than Knicks. Big Man who can do more than score
can influences the outcome of a game. Zeke wants to move Curry, does that mean that he KNOWS what’s
up?
African, did you see where Stan Van Gundy. criticised D. Howard
for focusing on scoring and not Defense & Rebounding in the last few games.
SVG-needs to coach Curry, then he would have greater appreciation for Howard.
It is interesting that last year you were pumpin Crawful, while this year you can see he is a liability.
The analytical EYE must be late.

You’re such a wise man.
Protecting a lead entails taking good shots at the end of games when you’re up.
It means not taking the first shot available at the begining of the clock.
It means taking high percentage shots.
It means Craw and Zach should be on the bench, because they’re the culprits each and every game.
There’s no combination in the league that takes such ill advised shots.
That’s where the leads are lost.

Exec: Knicks Trying To Deal Curry, Randolph
February 12, 2008 - 5:33 am
New York Daily News -
Several league executives who have spoken to the Knicks in recent days have confirmed to the New York Daily News that Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph are definitely up for trade.
According to columnist Mitch Lawrence, it is unclear what Isiah Thomas is asking for in return.
“The problem is that Zach still is seen as the Zach Randolph from Portland - he’s got baggage - and people wonder if this is it for Eddy,” said one executive. “And, they’ve got some rough contracts.”
Curry has struggled for much of the season.
“The question is whether he’s regressed or, is this it, he’s not getting any better?” said the executive. “You have to remember, when Eddy came out of Chicago, he was regarded as someone who did not like to work and who did not like basketball. So do you blame Zach’s presence, or do you say, Eddy doesn’t have the upside the Knicks thought he had? In either case, the experiment with Zach has not worked.”
The Knicks are hoping to hold onto David Lee, Nate Robinson and Jamal Crawford in any trade. [READ]

They had heart last year, that got us a 33 win season. whoopee dude. You can have heart, I’ll take wins.
No, leads are lost when defense isn’t played. You don’t have to score again, you just have to make sure the other team doesn’t. I don’t see Jamal taking lots of 7second shots, its more like the ball stagnates instead of moves around leaving whoever gets the ball last a desperation heave. If Craw and Zach are benched at the end of games, who is shooting the rock ? If you surrounded those 2 w/ some hardcore defenders, it would disguise their flaws and define everyones role on the team. Then if they continue to jack up bad shots then you have a point but as the club is currently constructed, what real choice is there ?
AF, You need to call Curry on the phone, he owes you money for filating him so often. That is the only explanation for not seeing how flawed the smallest 6′11″ player in the L is !!!

When did I ever compare Curry to Kareem?
The conversation was not too long aga, and it was on Shack’s ability to play in an uptempo game.
I brought back Kareem with the showtime Lakers as an example.
You keep talking out your ass.
I refered to Ben Wallace as a contrast to Curry because he’s useless on O, but still an All Star.
The point was that the team was constructed in such a way, he did not need to.
Pairing Curry with Zach is murder!
Zach disrupts the O, and plays less D than Curry.
You said what? Curry doesn’t rebound? He averaged 7 last year, and the Knicks were one of the leaders in that category in the league.
The HOF Shack was regularly taken out of games at the end for free throw shooting. What’s the difference.
He’s out of the game.
I’m not saying the trade rumor is not true. I really don’t know. The point was that the same ones that said it wasn’t the last time are acting like it’s a fact this time.
Don’t try twisting my words.
I really gave you too much credit.

Well there it is bro……..If you play D like a monster but are inefficient on O as a C , you can be an all star. Buuuuuuut if you score like a monster but don’t apply that ferocity to the rest of your game as a C, you are worthless. 7 rebounds a game is mediocre for a 300 lb, 7 footer. Those were his best games by the way. Way to accentuate the positive.

Curry’s 7-Rebounds a game, was his career high. Could have been a CAREER Year.
Also Curry does not understand, that you have to work on your game every Year.
Does Curry look as if he did any work in the offseason?
Last Year Q, could shoot, this year he can’t. Last Year, is Last Year.
Zach disrupts the O. Zach rebounds and Curry doesn’t.
Curry takes to long to warm up for each game. He does not get
going until late into 2nd quarter.-Poor Pregame Ritual.

An interesting Chris Sheridan ESPN insder article is freely accesible today
Here is a portion of the article that discussed NY attempting to obtain Ron Artest with a trade package that would include Eddy Curry…
“Artest, meanwhile, is being publicly melancholic over his potential departure from the Kings, who are trying to include Kenny Thomas in any Artest deal.
Sources told ESPN.com that talks between the Kings and Nuggets, first reported by the Sacramento Bee, involved a larger deal than has been reported. In addition to wanting to include Thomas in their outgoing package, the Kings were believed to be seeking Linas Kleiza and Nene.
There remains a chance the talks could be restarted, sources said, if Sacramento were to drop its asking price, but the most the Nuggets are currently willing to surrender is a package of Eduardo Najera and a first-round draft pick.
“If Artest opts out like everyone expects, you’re basically talking about a rent-a-player deal,” said one Western Conference executive familiar with the Nuggets-Kings talks.
As disappointing as Eddy Curry has been, he might have trade value.
Another source told ESPN.com that the New York Knicks made overtures recently indicating they were willing to trade centers Eddy Curry and Jerome James for Artest and Thomas, but the Kings were balking at taking on the remaining two years and $12.8 million owed to James.
“The whole point of trying to package Artest with Thomas (due $7.9 million next season and $8.6 million in 2009-10) is to clear cap space. The Kings don’t want another guy (James) clogging their cap for two more years,” the source said.
The Nuggets’ willingness to give up this June’s first-round draft pick will keep them a player in the Artest stakes, but it also could make the difference in their pursuit of Memphis point guard Kyle Lowry, who is being shopped by the Memphis Grizzlies.’
Seems Like Curry is very expendable at this juncture. I wonder why!

As you know, I’m not too bright, but I can surely help you.
An average is the sum(total points/rebounds) divided by the games played.

OK AF,
I know you aren’t the smartest in here so I’ll dumb it down a bit for ya. Eddie AVERAGES 4 rebounds a game for the season and his career. That means that 7 was one of the higher #s averaged in w/ the 1s and 2s that is more the norm for him. The only reason his rebounds went up slightly last year was that Lee went down and we did not have another strong rebounder on the squad. If he ever gets 10 bounds a night I attest 4 of them hit him in the chest coming off the rim. Take the blindfold off dude. We all agree that he has little value because our eyes are open.
Go back to kindergarten, you need the nap time to rest your brain. It must take alot of energy to hold Eddie’s nuts so tight !

Well the only three players whose signature and picture show up at the top of the Knicks website are Nate, Lee, and Crawford. No doubt Balkman should be there.
But what could the Knicks get back for Curry or Zach at this point.
The team will be percieved as being the position of a team doing a firesale, with players perhaps not percieved to be worth trading too much to obtain.
I will say that although Zach can become a blackhole he will pass out, and has appeared to have tried to develop that aspect of his game. He rebounds and appears to give more energy on the defensive end despite his lack of athleticism.
I can’t really say the same for Curry.

It doesn’t matter the players we get.
The only thing that matters to the Knicks right now

Since we are trading players that “potentially” have
a future in this league (Zach and Curry) we SHOULD ask
for expiring contracts. The contract doesn’t have to expire
this off season but next off season would be nice also.
Get my drift?
By DaVonn Obama Jefferson on Feb 12, 2008 at 6:53 pm
As for Crawford on the Knicks website…
Crawford is Isiah’s little pet.
Crawford can do whatever he wants and he hasn’t
earned it.
I wasn’t joking when I said Crawford, Curry and Nate are
ALWAYS at the sports club here in White Plains watching
the league games. You should see the way they sit around
and laugh and joke about other teams while their own team is
the laughing stock of the league.
Terrible…just terrible.
By DaVonn Obama Jefferson on Feb 12, 2008 at 6:57 pm
Interesting Info DVOJ.
I see your point about expiring contracts in this or next season.
That does make sense.
How about trying to get a 2nd round pick while were at it.
Not like were asking for 1rst rounder, only players from the draft at the “lower tier” of the talent pool.
What do you think?

DEE-FENDERS,
Remember KNicks also need PING-PONG balls. The only way to do this is to LOSE!!
No trades to Win a couple of more games.
The SEASON is OVER.
Knicks need guys w/ DOGG in them.
Not guys that may request TIME-OFF to Record a Rap Record
Knicks do not need guys w/ NBA Rap Sheet.
Peace & Blessings

Hope all this trade talk is not for nothing. We need to get on track to a new future,NOW. Start with Rose. He is a solid back-up the Spurs or another team could use in their playoff drive. And they get cap room after 2 years.
Then trade Curry and James for RONRON . Would be a good start.
And keep Curry and Randolph on the Block until one is traded.
Let’s go Knicks……………..trade somebody…………….PLEASE!!!!
By D L T Knicks on Feb 12, 2008 at 8:36 pm
The future is now! People who state the SEASON is over is only their OPINION!
The Fact is the Knicks are still in the playoff race! State facts people…FACTS!
What kind of fan roots for a loss??? WTF… Get ready to play the fools that
that you will become!
By Peaceman on Feb 12, 2008 at 9:49 pm
After we beat BOSTON tomorrow…The Knicks will finish hell bent and
be in the playoffs…in my opinion and prayers! On second thought..
forget the prayer part…I’ll save that for something deserveing one.
The Knicks don’t need one …they got this…really they do!
By Peaceman on Feb 12, 2008 at 9:54 pm
The Pacers and the Hawks lose tonight..helping our cause..
the Bulls may help tonight too! The Nets won tonight…in the last game
with Kidd in a Net Jersey… IMHO. So Knicks Tankers….who’s soooo good
that hope is not our option??????
By Peaceman on Feb 12, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Peaceman you know we can’t argue with that because we all would be thrilled to see that.
If I had a choice of getting a good draft pick this year or going to the
NBA finals like we did in 99…I would take the Finals in a minute!!!
I’m just saying…what we have seen over the first 50 something games this season
is disgusting.
By DaVonn Obama Jefferson on Feb 12, 2008 at 10:29 pm
To the Defenders here who want the team to lose for PING PONG balls–For Shame, For Shame! What has this world and sport come to where a team plays and “fan” prays for a LOSS? WTF? WPTWTG=We Play To Win The Game!!! Oh, fuhgetaboutit. I’ma just stay the way I am–steady.

Been on the move. Haven’t been able to see many games. Have kept up via NBA TV , Newspapers, plus checking (reading not writing) in once in a while to this and other blogs. Just wanted to send my thoughts and prayers to Cooley.

Defenders,
I’ll be out of town today, so I look forward to the non Tankers real
time game postings! A win tonight will set the tone to lights on in the
Garden in May! I will be there rooting for my team!
Cooley….your faith shared is always welcome…stay strong and remember
someday we will all be free, until then LIFE is on HARD!!

More tabloid speculation for today.
It appears the Marbury is also on the trading block despite the Knicks denying that possibility.
Curry wouldn’t mind being traded.
It appears that the Knicks at this juncture are looking to trade in order to dump salary, not necessarily acquire players, Artest, that could help the team immediately.
Can someone say the Lebron James sweepstake!
This last one is for Peaceman.
The Knicks are still talking playoffs.

DEE-FENDERS,
There are some among us that do not understand the LOSE NOW, WIN LATER PHILOSOPHY.
The first step in any REHABILITATION PROGRAM is HONEST ACKNOWLEDGEMENT.
The TRUTH is the Knicks as currently Constructed STINK.
The team lacks interior defense, a shot-blocker, a point guard, a scoring small forward,
and a off-guard that can consistently hit the outside jumper, Other then that they’re
a Good team. Are the Knicks a Power Team or a 25 FT-Jump-shooting team?
Do Not be Fooled by the “We are Still in the Playoff Race” talk. Other then the Nets,
the Teams ahead of the Knicks for the last playoff spot starting 5 for the most part are Younger,
and have a LEAD-Players with Greater UPside than any Knick player.
For example-Joe Johnson/Josh Smith, Luol Deng/Ben Gordon, Andre Iguodola/Dalembert,
Making the playoffs would allow the Knicks to Wallow in Mediocrity for years.
Getting a High draft choice combined w/ some of the EXISTING PARTS, and Eliminating Rubbish
will change the Dynamics of the Team.
DEE-FENDERS that say the Season is not over, probably believe in the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus
Hillary Clinton, Mike Huckabee, & Rudy G.
Dee-fenders be Aware of FALSE PROPHETS—Faith without Works is Dead.
Remember LOSE NOW, WIN LATER
Peace & Blessings

States,
So with that concept of lose now win later, are you opposed to making trades before the deadline unless we get picks or cap space in return ?
By JohnQ on Feb 13, 2008 at 9:30 am
Well if we will eventually be getting rental dump players, then lets provide Chandler, Morris, and Collins more minutes, when the big salaries are traded.
But that is just specualtion until it happens.

I haven’t caught up on my reading yet so this may be a retread, but it was funnnnnny. It’s about time that someone called Bill Walton on his credentials.
from Suns notebook: Shaq fires back at ESPN analyst Walton
http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/108835
“O’Neal shot back at Walton on Sunday, and had more on Tuesday – saying Walton needs to compare resumes before he speaks again.
“I’ve done more in three years than he’s done in his whole career,” said O’Neal, referring to his three-peat run with the Lakers. “I would like a little respect from this man. I don’t understand where his comments are coming from, nor do I really care.
“(Walton) being disrespectful to me is like me being disrespectful to Bill Russell. (Walton) has one and half, maybe two championships. I have four. I’ve been (to the NBA Finals) six times. He criticized me for being injured … he only had two full seasons in his entire career. One thing I hate in life is a hypocrite – I hate them, despise them. So I would like a little respect when it comes to ‘The Dominant Big Man’s Club’
“Him talking about me is like the owner of Atari talking about Bill Gates. You can’t do it. The pecking order rules.”
By Jay Bee on Feb 13, 2008 at 10:55 am
Write on Shaq
Nice plug Jay Bee.
Paid hypocrite, hippy loving fool, and his alternate lifestyle son in LA.
By Orange and Blue on Feb 13, 2008 at 11:26 am
jay bee, yeah, shaq really sounds like he doesn’t care saying all that over two separate instances.
i haven’t followed shaq enough this year to agree/disagree with walton’s comments. if it is true that shaq was saying he can’t play in miami due to injury, and then he went to phoenix and said he can play for a championship, that is some turncoat disloyal bullcrap to me.
as a knicks fan, i’ve always had a problem with miami, and i had a problem with the lakers when shaq was there. the year after miami won the title, shaq, riley and d-wade all took turns during the regular season to have vacations, have unnecessary surgeries, chill out, and they thought they could turn it on like a switch when the playoffs started. i knew back then that it would not work out for them because you have to bust your ass all season, you can’t just win it all when the playoffs start because you have the two best players in the league, it is marathon, not a sprint.
guess what? shaq is trying to sprint again. unfortunately this time, it is with the suns, a team i want to win the title because the spurs unfairly took it from them with that BS Robert Horry foul on nash that cost them the series because of David Stern’s stupid bench-leaving rules. that was as big an injustice as I’ve seen in the nba. it’s just too bad shaq is on the suns now because I’ve never in my life cheered for a team that had him on it.

#130–just bloggin’
shaq saying all that is like isiah talking smack on greg anthony’s game when they drafted renaldo balkman and ESPN was trashing Isiah for the pick.
“This so-called former Knick, on draft night with millions of people watching, had the audacity to take me to task on a player that I’m pretty sure he had never seen before in his life,” Thomas said. “But he stands on national television and talks about a kid he has absolutely no idea about. I’m just glad that all of New York doesn’t think like Greg Anthony.”
“Greg Anthony should never ever be in a position to question myself on anything about basketball,” Thomas said. “I do remember the kind of player he was. I’ll leave it at that.
“This is between Greg and I,” Thomas said in a lengthy diatribe about Anthony to the media after the Knicks practice. “The things he said on draft night … after all the good solid work we had done in the draft … for him to take that position he took … I thought he was way way way out of bounds.”
“I just thought he was very unfair to the Knicks organization,” Thomas said. “It would be different had he not worn a Knick uniform. But for a guy who claims to have been a Knick, to treat the Knicks the way he treated us that night … I know a Piston would never do that. A Celtic would never do that. A Laker would never do that. It wouldn’t happen. It just goes to show you what we’re dealing with.”
When asked whether he could see Balkman someday defending LeBron James or Tracy McGrady, Thomas replied, “Wait a minute, hold on now … you can run him out there but he’ll probably get stepped on a little bit … Unlike Greg Anthony, I do have respect for others.”
Later, when talking about Balkman’s ability to handle the ball, a reporter jokingly asked if he had a better handle than Greg Anthony. “Most definitely,” Thomas said. “Greg could only go left.”

I totally disagree with the loser mentality.
You can guarantee losses by throwing games, but how do you guarantee wins?
How do you guarantee winning a lottery? Ask Boston about that one.
How do you guarantee a difference maker in the draft?
You play to win the game! Period!
This team is not as bad as the record.
A few minor tweaks would set it right.
Eliminate or limit the jackers and instill a team concept.
Trade for a defensive post player and a passing point and we’ll be fine.

Good AM Defenders!
I want to thank my Defender Family for their kind and thoughtful expressions and their words of encouragement during our moment and hour of bereavement.
I would also like to acknowledge and extend my heartfelt thanks to STEADY As It Goes for taking the time to meet with me on Monday. His fellowship and friendship was helpful in relieveing some of the stress, angst, and pain that arises when you lose a loved one at such an early age and to senseless violence. Thanks again DEFENDERS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Keep it POPPIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I for one am happy as hell that Shaq is in Phoenix and I trully hope it signals the end of the “run and gun” Suns. IMO the Suns ruined the game. I was a HUGE fan of pro ball in the 90’s. I loved the grind it out style, low scoring, hard fought defensive battles. Watching the Suns is exciting but its not a championship formula. I’ve been saying it for years that you can’t win it all w/ their style and I’m happy to see that they finally admitted it themselves.

STA-TES-MAN,
The statesman that you are could probably have folded up that speech posted in #126 and tuck it in your vest pocket. SHANE, COME BACK!
You know full well that we’re dealing with a false prophet and a carpetbagger in the NYC. The FORCE MDs renounced one last night at a 75% and 68% clip. You were there and a part of it (most likely).
So far, I have read only one other opinion here that suggests playing to win the games. Though veiled, I see your link of Steady to a belief in the Easter Bunny. A lot of WORK goes into painting those eggs, burrying them and getting ready for service on that faithful Sunday. Bunny or not, the kids get giddy and marvelous things when allowed to play. So let the kids play!
What are you saying STA-TES-MAN when you encourage “Doing as the Romans do” in losing to “cheat” the system a la the LepraC’s. The NYK may have done that in the past (a la HOF ABS coach). The Lil’ General may have tipped us to win Ewing. Anything negative that brought us Ws I favor but I would never condone it or let alone link my cloak to it.
I’m SHOCKED Shane STA-TES-MAN! I recall (over the summer) a very insistant/proud Statesman who was ridiculed as a “blind Zeke loyalist”; “an apologist for IT; blazé, blazé. I was there. I also recall a very dignified Statesman calling out BeliCHEAT for his shenanigans in NY against our J-E-T-S. SHANE, Come Back! Statesman is not an IT apologist, Statesman calls it like it is–consistantly. Say it is so SHANE. We now have a 3-card Monty hawkin’ carpetbagger “wafflin’” like the best of them on the national scene. He built this team and now he’s coaching the players HE selected.
On certain nights, when coached properly, this team has won. For me, when a team leads by DD and gets walked down to an OT loss, I hand it to the C and staff. Balkman is in his 3rd year. He’s a serviceable change of pace Point Forward. On that TO with seconds remaining and SA trailing by 3, did ANYONE instruct the players to cover the 3-pt line? What do you draw to pressure the OB entry pass AND 3-pt. line? You may recall the game at the phone booth on 7th & G where the NYK loss a last-second nail-biter following an OB entry for a lay-up on the baseline. The same cast of characters were involved. This repeat offense reminds me that we’re watching the NBA. You know what’s good SHANE STA-TES-MAN.
I type you this S_a_e_man, leave the “TTS” (Tank The Season) out yo name. I want my blog compass back. Say it ain’t so SHANE! Come back SHANE.
