Knicks Vs. Pacers photo recap

by knicksdefense on February 7, 2008

I see some of the knicks defenders made it back from the Giant Superbowl hiatus, thanks for remembering Knicksdefense for all your knicks blogging fun.

We’re going to do something different, as I promised we would be trying new stuff in the days to come, this time it will be a photo blog recap of the most recent Knicks defeat to the Indiana Pacers tonight.

The good thing was Zach Randolph had the touch from three-point territory, hitting THREE three point shots, not too shabby for a power forward. The bad was of course that it was not enough to win the basketball game.

Watching this team is like watching the movie Groundhog’s day with Bill “ghost-bustin’ ass” Murray reliving the same experience every day. After the initial shock wears off, you come to expect certain things when you relive the same experiences AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. In the Knicks case, that would be keeping up the whole game, even winning the game at times, just to let it go during the last few minutes of the fourth quarter. Yup.

So here we go, photo recap style:

dsc_5521.jpg

Knicks forward David Lee, happy about something in the first half.

dsc_5535.jpg

“keep Isiah” sign held up by a man wearing a Pacers jersey. Note that MSG security came over to have words with this dorky looking man. Also note the dude that got right in his grill for the cell phone documentation of it all.

dsc_5542.jpg

Knicks guard Jamal “J Chuck” Crawford. They don’t call him that for nothing. In the texas holdem world, J Chuck’s analogous playing style would be to play every hand, J Chuck would never fold his cards, not 7-deuce off-suit, not anything.  Jamal shot 5-17 from the field, that says it all.

dsc_5544.jpg

Knicks City Dancers. God bless them. Anybody see former Knicks City Dancer “Kim” on the new American Gladiators show two weeks ago? She did fairly well, all the way until the last obstacle course. When the first obstacle was climbing a ten foot rope wall, Kim was in trouble due to weak upper body strength. Her opponent finished the entire course before Kim got over that wall. By that point, it turned into a “moral victory” because she did not give up, and the crowd supported her Jim Valvanoesque, “never give up” spirit for finishing the game. Good for Kim.

dsc_5548.jpg

Knicks guard N8 Robinson doing some kind of amazingly athletic aerial maneuver.

dsc_5549.jpg

Renaldo Balkman and Coach Isiah Thomas having words on the sideline. Renaldo was a beast on the boards tonight leading all players with 12 rebounds. He also tallied three blocks against the pacers.

dsc_55571.jpg

Meet the press. I was going to trash this photo of nate casually bringing the ball up the court when I realized all the homeboys were in the background. Even from a distance it is very obvious they all chew gum very loudly. Guess it is just a New York Press kind of thing to do.

dsc_5565.jpg

Knicks forward David Lee throws it down from the baseline. That’s basically his spot. Kenny Smith claims it is five feet or less, but I’m going to say D Lee functions in particular along the baseline.

dsc_5568.jpg

Knicks forward Renaldo Balkman gets the shot block on the perimeter. Good hustle from “Taz” tonight.

dsc_5593.jpg

Knicks Center Eddy Curry catches a nice lob pass and finishes the lay-up.

dsc_5610.jpg

Knicks guard Jamal Crawford shoots over Pacers guard Travis Diener.

dsc_5615.jpg

Madison Square Garden’s new high-definition Jumbotron hanging above centercourt and some new baseline scoreboards along the perimeter below the 400 level. Thanks James Dolan.

dsc_5618.jpg

Tough coverage for Knicks center Eddy Curry with Indiana double-teaming his shot in the paint.

dsc_5620.jpg

Moments later on the next Knicks possession, Eddy Curry accelerates to the rim before the double-team arrives, laying up the ball for two points.

dsc_5632.jpg

Knicks in their zone defensive set. Note the seemingly huge gaps between the defense and the opponent. Space is not something you want to give a team that can shoot from the perimeter.

dsc_5645.jpg

After we left the game, we heard several people remark that the best part of the Knicks game was when the Giants came onto the court and woke the crowd up out of its deep slumber. In that moment, suddenly, the Garden was electric again.

dsc_56551.jpg

It was very odd to see Coach Isiah Thomas decide to play Mardy Collins heavy minutes in the second half, when I don’t recall him playing Collins at all during the first half. Isiah is now playing musical chairs, a tune perfected by his coaching predecessor, Larry Brown.

dsc_56571.jpg

The vast defensive gaps proved costly down the stretch for the Knicks. A semi-truck could do a u-turn through a gap that big. Just so you know, Murphy can hit that shot, as can most of the Pacers when left that wide open.

dsc_5672.jpg

Power forward Zach Randolph led the Knicks with 26 points and 9 rebounds in a losing effort.

Thank you Statesman
At least somebody see’s where I’m coming from LOL.

Barf,

WTF? That was straight out of some Seinfeld script that didn’t make the cut. Her ass is flat and she likes Tex-Mex? That compares to Curry not being a complete play? Can I have some of what you’re smokin’ right now pleeeeeesssse? LOL.

Whazzup fellas, I’ve lost the spunk to visit since our team plays like 8th graders. How they produce the same garbage every time they step on the court is beyond me.

DLT,
Great trade DLT, Tell me something in Layman’s terms! How do I transfer something from Youtube to this blog?
Please explain!

4 DaVonn Obama Jefferson February 7, 2008 at 9:53 pm

Crawford, Curry and Nate are all at the NYSC right now watching the league games in downtown White Plains.

If I was there I would smack the shit out of Curry.

5 DaVonn Obama Jefferson February 7, 2008 at 9:55 pm

You can’t Peaceman.
Unless Knicksdefense gives you the keys and lets you make your own post.

You can’t post youtube videos in the comments section.
You can only provide the links.

Welcome back Orange & Blue! Don’t let Monty or anyone else for that matter, make you drop your colors. The winning may be hard to swallow (ask D L T) but trust that you are not alone. In my mind, you never left tu saves nuestro rey del pico. ;-)

DVJ,
Since the summer you established the DVJ persona in my mind and on the various blogs where we exchanged. This house is yours just as much as anyone else here can claim thanks be to Blogzilla. I’m still trying to to figure out how to post on your blog site. All these words are to shower you with kissy kissy while passing no judgement to the person who blogs here with passion. You once blogged–”I can tell when someone is tryin’ to insult me indirectly”. This ain’t one of those times. Since you asked the question about BARF calling you out, I’m pasting it below. Again, there’s no vitriol in BARF’s post (that I sensed), you’re one of our own and sans fault to the bruhs here.

Disclaimer: DVJ predicted 57 wins in the offseason.

Credibility= Zero.

Sorry dude. But I dont agree with you. Blowing up the team means this hell continues that much longer. No, thank you.

Quitting is never a good idea. Its what you do when you have nothing left.

Only thing I have to say about that Steady is……….HE’S RIGHT!!
I predicted this Knicks team to win 50 + games because I thought we
would build on last year. Towards the end of last year we were actually
an ok team. I thought our weakest link was Frye and he was replaced by
Zeke. Remember last year when I started bashing Frye and asking for him
to be traded? Well God answered my call and gave us a 20 and 10 guy. What
more could I ask for right?
Let’s not get crazy here though….
How many games did you predict us to win?
Please don’t tell me you thought we would win between 20 and 30.
Everybody here had them pegged to win at least 40 games. That’s not even
50 percent of the season. So if I don’t have any credibility…who does?
Everybody (even the MSM) had us winning at least 40 games this year.
The rate where going…we won’t win 23.
I was 30 games off while everybody else was 20 games off LOL.

“So this is where all the fools who were famously wrong about Isiah Thomas and Knicks go to talk more gibberish about a subject they know nothing about. Also, girly lap top? How about the girl who takes a camera to the game and starts shooting away from the upper deck who has never been to a Knicks game before. What are you, a tourist? How pathetic. Also maybe you didn’t read the fine print on the ticket you scalped for $20 bucks but: “Any publication or reproduction without the express written consent of the NBA is strictly prohibited.” Guess what? You owe David Stern some money.

Peace”

Seems my words got franky’s panties in a bunch.

whoever you are, chances are you aren’t sticking around to read any of this, but in case you are, let me reply.

You tell David Stern I said bring it Franky, if he’s worried about what die hard knicks fans do to get through another lackluster season, he’s less of a basketball fan than I thought.

“News Man,” too bad he wasn’t man enough to use his real name, because I leave an outside shot that could have been written by Alan for inadvertently hijacking his blogging community during the “wacky” fallout at the beginning of the season.

News man defies the laws of physics. Not many of us can sit courtside and look down on the people above us in the 100′s, 200′s, 300′s, or 400′s. Not many of us can get paid to cover a team you so obviously hate while complaining about being moved back from courtside, or having to interview “bullies,” or calling Knicks fans “male groupies.”

No matter how much I paid for my tickets, which were 200 section for the record (I pride myself on being working class and not some bourgeois snob complaining about the particular location of COURTSIDE tickets) I go as a fan, and blog as a fan, so for me to have to justify myself to a elitist professional hater–not even a consistent one at that–is just pathetic and comical.

By the way, you look like a fat-ass on NBATV frank, loose some weight before they replace you.

And your right about one thing, coward, I go to a lot less games this year, because I don’t agree with the management of the one team I’ve loved long before you got out of your camaro Z28 and cut your 1980′s mullet and put on your writer’s cap. I had season tickets last season, and didn’t want to commit this year due to distrust of isiah’s coaching and GM skills. I went to the game to see how the garden was doing.

Your articles, the thinly veiled hatred that they are, no longer are of service to me.

12 DaVonn Obama Jefferson February 7, 2008 at 11:01 pm

Amen knicksdefense!!!!!!!!!

Good shit bro!!!!!!!!!

13 Steady February 7, 2008 at 11:04 pm

Nah young bruh. I was right there with ya. I predicted fitty using that same logic. Admittedly, the script writers ain’t here with us so IT has another plan. All we can do is watch and weep. Or we can watch and call it like it is what it is. Monty has got this and if we believe that he knows what’s good, he’ll do the right thing. At the end of the day, the institution (franchise) will overcome this debacle; it always does. And so shall we.

Great pics, KD. Really good stuff, and really fun, too.

16 George M. February 7, 2008 at 11:41 pm

Holy Shit dudes. Those MSM jackasses actually come snooping here.I thought that they thought that their shit don’t STANK!!! Guess I was wrong.Thanx to you KD/Starburyfan we have a good place to blog/chat away from those paid haters and those miserable scummy haters like Mark,LGM etc.We are Knick fans here not basketball groupies and for all you haters paid or just miserable I extend the middle fingers on both my hands and say Fuck you and the horses you rode in on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

17 stopmikelupica February 7, 2008 at 11:55 pm

Oh, one more question: Speaking of the NY press, who is the tall dude in the press section who always wears suits (usually pinstriped), and has slick back hair? I see that guy during the game, and I’ve seen him before in real life, but I’m not sure who he is or what paper he writes for….

18 knicksdefense February 8, 2008 at 12:05 am

All right, just got off the horn with David Stern.

Some really bad news, fellas.

News Man was right, I have to take down the pictures.

Except the one of the NY Press, Stern said he didn’t give a rat’s ass about that one, and James Dolan is actually at this very moment trying to acquire the rights to the full rez photo, go figure.

Who knows? If I hold out for more money, perhaps I can sit court side one night!

19 Peaceman February 8, 2008 at 1:03 am

Knicksdefense,
I was fucking with fat Frank today and making fun of his following….
Mike Dunleavy has more ass hair on his head than Isola and Hahn have posters!
I’m sure it was Mitch his bitch, wanting the fudge packed tonight and told fat Frank
about your pictures! APB to EDDY from Plug uglies…watch the bath rooms tonight!

Ironically, my GF has that same Mac laptop in white!

But, to be fair, I use it all the time when we are home.

22 knicksdefense February 8, 2008 at 2:07 pm

same here mikelupica, my brother has that laptop and I do some of the posts for KD on it from time to time. much like the tone of the rest of the post, it was supposed to be a joke, but it still ruffled frank’s feathers quite a bit.

apparently some of the media only like to criticize, they’re not happy when it is turned on them FOR ONCE.

23 Jay Bee February 8, 2008 at 3:04 pm

Lordy have mercy KD. That is what makes you soul brotha #1. Kickazz!!

24 Dustin Jacobs March 24, 2009 at 8:22 pm
