Clippers at Knicks
February 4, 2008 – 3:21 amCongrats to the New York Giants for taking home the Superbowl! I caught the second half of the game and that was some exciting stuff. I’ve said it before, New York deserves some glory, so I’m almost as happy as my neighbors who were all joyously roaring from their houses and apartments all throughout the streets when Manning’s pass was caught in the end zone late in the fourth quarter. Although they were the underdogs, they always kept their confidence, good for them.
Back to the NBA. Imagine if the Lakers make it to the finals to play the Celtics? both teams were “hooked up” by old pals in unbalanced trades. That kind of stuff should not be allowed. If Stern is signing off on this kind of “insider trading,” he should “hook up” the Knicks come NBA lottery time. Just bloggin’.
I’m going to take a cue from some of the defenders on here and try to put my frustration behind and stay positive about this Knicks team. Their record sucks, we’re 0-5 in our last 5, but we’ve still got a legit chance at the 7 or 8 spot, *if* we just learn how to take these teams out in the fourth quarter. That’s a big “if” considering the Knicks’ defensive (dis)abilities.
Yet, like Lives says, we’re competing every night now, it doesn’t matter if it is the Lakers or Detroit or whoever, we’re right there with them until the end, so I’ve got to believe there is something that can be done to secure these leads we’ve been relinquishing every time. Even if it just means somehow getting a bigger lead through the first three quarters and then just fouling the worst free throw shooters and making them earn it down the stretch. I don’t know, some kind of strategy must be developed! Hope Isiah and co. are working on it.
MODI has an excellent (as always) new post on our new york knicks, check it out at COSELLOUT.
Lets keep our heads up–don’t have to expect the worst, but we can still hope for the best.
tipoff is at 7:30 tonight. at least one knick will probably still be out with this flu that is going around. This strand seems to take at least a week to wear off, it nearly did for me.
good stuff in the forum defenders, keep it comin’. i’m sure the trade deadline will inspire some new discussions in the upcoming days…

Knicks’ Crawford talking about jumping ship?

Had to check out that link on Crawful…..seems like Pop Gun was shooting off his mouf in his hometown a bit, free from the watchful gaze of Dolan’s PR Nazis….
http://blog.seattletimes.nwsource.com/sonics/2008/02/final_thoughts_27.html#start_comments
“Spoke with Rainier Beach boys Jamal Crawford and Nate Robinson afterward. Crawford is ready for a new change of venue. He told me he’s making the best of a tough situation, but wouldn’t mind being traded. He talked about returning to Seattle and playing here, but then a lot of the Seattle guys say that. Crawford seemed serious, however, there’s nothing in the works and it probably will never happen because he essentially plays Kevin Durant’s position.” writes Seattle Post blogger Percy Allen.
Note that there is no direct quote in there, so this is all off the record. Crawford has categorically denied saying it, so either he is calling Allen a liar (doubtful) or this is a scheme he hatched up with Allen to circumvent the Knicks’ PR machine and get his own message out there (worrisome).
Jamal has a player option for 2009-10 - if he exercises it, it also kicks in the following season’s contract (essentially a two year player option). He’d be crazy to turn down the almost $20M due to him under this current contract….wouldn’t he? Anyone think he might test the free agent waters after next season?

By the way, when KD alleges “hooking up old friends” w/r/t the Gasol trade, does he speak of The Logo Jerry West?
Because it appears it was actually Chris Wallace - ex-Celtics disaster - who made this trade.
And it might not turn out as lopsided as we all think.

paul noise, that is what i was getting at. as far as I understood, Jerry West still pulls some strings for Memphis (I did check wikipedia before writing that post because his name was eerily missing from all reports out of LA on said trade, but of course wikipedia isn’t that credible a source afterall), although word is West is soon to return to the Lakers in a smaller (non-gm) capacity. west is one of those old-school players that played for just one team his entire career, much like kevin mchale in that respect.
Never heard of Wallace before. Wouldn’t be the first time I was wrong. perhaps it is all just coincidence. like oil men orchestrating an invasion of an oil-rich country in the middle east. i let my conspiracy theories get the best of me sometimes. hope it doesn’t make me sound like a tabloid at times. just bloggin’, speculating, postulating, theorizing… with that trade the balance in power in the west has shifted considerably towards the already well-off lakers, had to say something about it while the ink was still wet on the trade papers.
regardless of that, both trades send a rare multi-talented lengthy all-star away with nothing close to equal value in return, just potential. that to me constitutes lop-sidedness. we’ve got lots of “potential,” why don’t they take some of our “potential?”
marc gasol is potential, as are three picks, gasol was proven talent. not all euros come over and prove themselves. some can’t hack it, others flourish. seems like a risky move when there were reportedly others on the table from more than a handful of teams.
maybe some good can come out of it, like the knicks picking up lowry in a trade for a real point guard. don’t know if isiah sees anything in him though. especially with his injury during his rookie season. i think isiah wouldn’t have let go of channing had he not sustained his rookie year injury.
By knicksdefense on Feb 4, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Nicely put KD, but the problem is Memphis wants to clear payroll because the team is up for sale. We couldn’t come close to matching that offer because our only expiring contract is Fred Jones, and we can’t deal 2009 or 2011 picks since our 2010 pick is already dealt. They’d have to pay our “potential” now.
i myself have been known to see conspiracies in poorly-lit shadows, but i think i am one of the more conservative people in that respect on this blog. You’ll note i am not in lockstep with the general perception/definition of the so-called “MSM”, for instance!
The invasion was clearly a money-grab, just not for oil…it was for the no-bid contracts to rebuild stuff that never should have been blown up in the first place. That’s treasonous type stuff, the kind dudes would have gotten shot for a couple generations ago. i am still shocked there was never any serious movement towards investigating impeachment.
i think a guy like Mike Miller could be had, and would ultimately prove more valuable to the Knicks. Mind you, making a move for Miller would be an indictment of Q-Rich as our shooting swingman, similar to how calls for a shotblocker & pure point are pimpslaps at Jerome James & Mardy Collins.
Here’s my go at it B&B, see whatcha think….Randolph Morris gets a new start maybe a little closer to home.

glad you’re on our side PaulNoise! Good stuff. Respect. And I’m not rooting against Marc Gasol or euros in general, we could probably use a euro player, we haven’t any, and they are pretty good fundamental players in general if they can deal with the physicality of the NBA.
mardy lost his altheticism with the knee surgery. hope he can redevelop it.
jerome. what can i say about jeorme, he just asked for a trade.
to keep tabs on Knick players talking about trades this season:
stephon has talked about a hypothetical trade with MSM, though he did not ask for one.
zach asked isiah for a trade in front of the team after a loss
jerome asked for a trade just the other day
malik asked for a trade after asking to be put on the IR so he can stay in shape
realgm reports that jamal crawford “welcomes a change of scenery” to the seattle press recently
some of these players are key guys talking about leaving. another bad sign.
just take it one game at a time i suppose. if a trade happens, deal with it at that point.
LGK!

In good news, a pair of former Knicks’ swingmen settled felony battery charges out of court today.
Latrell Sprewell was accused of roughing up his girlfriend in front of their children, but prosecutors are dropping the case, as long as he stays out of trouble for twelve months. Her lawsuit against him has also been settled out of court - terms were not disclosed.

Glen Rice had a more serious felony battery charge dropped by a man who he discovered in the closet of his estranged wife Christina’s home. Alberto Perez got busted open and needed nine stitches in his face to close the wounds.

lately i’ve been thinking that Eddy Curry is the answer to our problems closing out games. let me explain.
last season eddy was great for the knicks. no he didn’t block shots, no he didn’t get double digit rebounds very often, but he was good as it gets in the paint, scoring the basketball when we were able to get the ball to him on a regular basis.
but the problem this season is we don’t get eddy in his rhythm because he’s getting far less touches and looks at the basket. in order for eddy to get into a flow, he basically has to be force fed the basketball for 40 minutes. so this year, we don’t have eddy as a factor in the fourth quarter because he is no longer the first option.
isiah’s guys have to figure out how to get eddy to produce down the stretch. then we won’t have to rely on nate or crawford or richardson to take over a game because eddy is very high percentage shooter under the basket. worse case scenario they call the foul (hopefully not offensive).
of course that is easier said than done. but i really do think if we had the eddy from last season for those last twelve minutes of the game, we would close out ALL of the teams we’ve been facing lately. and then it would be playoff-city!

Noize,
I just looked at your trade proposal. I hope you were joking. We should give up JC for Miller ? Who’s our 2 guard ? How does that help our PG or C problems ? That is a horrible trade dude. Do you work for the Grizz ?
By JohnQ on Feb 4, 2008 at 4:46 pm
John, actually it was a bad deal for both teams. i was just musing on how we could pry loose Miller, who is the pure shooter Q was supposed to be. Doesn’t look like we’re a good fit without involving a third team.
Anyway, you asked questions:
1) Who’s our 2 guard? A: Mike Miller
2) How does that help our PG or C problems? A: PG Kyle Lowry adds to our PG depth - center does not get addressed in this trade. Grizz are very thin up front and i doubt they’d swap Darko for the more expensive Curry or Zach….they like Darko’s production per cap dollar a lot.
3) Do you work for the Grizz? A: No, but ya know, for the right offer….

OK, ripped live & direct from the slick-looking ClipsNation Fan Blog:
http://www.clipsnation.com/
Probable starters:
Sam Cassell PG Nate Robinson
Cat Mobley SG Jamal Crawford
Al Thornton SF Quentin Richardson
Tim Thomas PF Zach Randolph
Josh Powell C Eddy Curry
The Big Picture:
There will be an NBA game this evening between the Los Angeles Clippers and the New York Knickerbockers in Madison Square Garden. If you were unaware of that fact, it would hardly be surprising. You see, the other NBA team in LA, a certain intermittent dynasty called the Lakers, just pulled off the single most one-sided trade in NBA history (it was almost literally one-sided in straight basketball terms) and that has grabbed a fair amount of attention. Meanwhile, you may or may not have heard that the Super Bowl was yesterday, and apparently there was a team from New York in that. I may not have this right, but it seems that maybe this New York team beat another team that was favored to win. Anyway, I guess it’s some sort of a big deal if you’re into that. So if no one shows up at the Garden tonight, they just couldn’t get there because of the parades. It’s too bad because this is a HUGE game - the loser takes over sole possession of 26th place in the ‘Race to the Ping Pong Balls’.
The Antagonist:
What is there to say about the Knicks that hasn’t already been said? As it happens, they no longer have the biggest payroll in the NBA - that distinction now belongs to the Mavericks. Of course, the Mavs have won 31 games this season while the Knicks have won 14. Astoundingly, the Knicks are no longer paying the most for every win. I really thought that distinction would belong to the Knicks for my lifetime, but the Heat, with a payroll of $72.5M and 9 wins have paid over $8M for each win this season, while the Knicks have paid a mere $6.35M per win. So all the trends are very positive for Isiah right now. On the court, the Knicks are as dysfunctional as ever. Stephon Marbury, owner of the second most lucrative contract in basketball, is out indefinitely after ankle surgery, and may well have played his last game for New York. The Zach Randolph experiment has been a complete disaster, at least from the standpoint of Eddy Curry, who averaged 19.5 points per game last season and is averaging less than 14 now. Beyond the young players on their rookie deals (David Lee, Nate Robinson, Renaldo Balkman), only Jamal Crawford is within shouting distance of earning his salary on this team. And he’s shooting 41% from the field, so that tells you how overpaid the other Knicks are.
The Subplots
* A relief pitcher. The Clippers have played four consecutive games with a baseball team of nine players, losing three of them, two in embarrassing fashion. Corey Maggette, who did not travel with the team for the first two legs of this road trip, is in New York and is listed as probable for this game. Chris Kaman has been with the team but has not played in five games and is listed as questionable. It’s too bad - Curry has little or no interest in playing defense, and K2 could have a big game against these guys if he plays. Without K2, the Clippers low post attack is limited to Cassell and Mobley posting up smaller guards (look for Cassell to abuse Nate Robinson tonight). To be fair, Tim Thomas has played much better around the basket of late as well. But as for a true post up player, forget it. Josh Powell and Aaron Williams are limited on offense, and that’s being kind. The Knicks have also been hit by the flu bug, with Eddy Curry missing the last two games and other players feeling it as well. But Curry is expected to play tonight.
* Rebounding. In the first meeting between these two teams, the Clippers barely pulled out a three point win in Staples Center. In that game, the Knicks grabbed 59 rebounds to the Clippers’ 46. 18 of those were on the offensive end, and that was with Kaman pulling down 18 himself. In other words, if K2 doesn’t play, this could get ugly, like the second half in Cleveland on Saturday. Randolph and Curry are BIG, and while Curry is not what you would call a good rebounder (or even adequate for that matter), if you don’t put a body on him, he will get a few. If the Clippers hold their own on the boards tonight, they will have a chance to win.
* A Sweep of the Metro Area? The Clippers will not sweep many teams this season. They already have the Nets, the only one so far, and tonight they have a chance to sweep the Knicks, making it a clean sweep of the NY/NJ metro area. It’s not much, but it’s something. I heart NY.
* Bad Blood Between the Coaches? When MDsr was mouthing off to TJ Simers two weeks ago, his tirade included the following statement: “I would only make deals to help our future - anything else is suicide. Anything else and you become the New York Knicks.” Now me, I just kind of accepted that. Seems like a common sense statement, shorthand for a bad situation that you want to avoid. But I guess Isiah took offense. (Can he really afford to be thin-skinned at this point?) Anyhoo, MDsr apparently apologized, saying that he was talking about Dave Checketts, not Isiah (yeah, right), and everything is cool now. Glad we got that cleared up.
* Home and Garden. The Knicks just completed a 0-5 Western Conference road trip. The Clippers have begun their 7 game Eastern trip 0-2. The Knicks would love to stop their losing streak with a home win where they are 10-14 on the season. Bad teams can’t win on the road. Both of these are bad teams right now. So put your money on the Knicks.
* The Tim Thomas Reunion Tour. Starting tonight, 3 of the next 5 games are against the teams where Tim Thomas began his NBA career, Philadelphia, Milwaukee and New York. In fact, Tim plays a prominent role in the Isiah-Knicks train wreck. He came to the Knicks from Milwaukee in the second major move of the Isiah era (the seeds of disaster had been sewn in the first deal for Marbury). And 20 months after acquiring Thomas, Isiah sent him to Chicago in the calamitous trade that brought Curry to the Knicks; it would not have been so bad had Thomas not also sent two lottery picks to the Bulls. Will Thomas have something to prove against his former teams over the next 8 days? Frankly, he doesn’t really strike me as that type of guy. We’ll see.

Checked out your Memphis New York trade.
I understand the reasoning in obtaining a Point Gaurd and a pure shooter, which are good things to consider in that hypo trade.
But I like Crawford’s ability to creat his own shot, and to that end can any of the players hypothetically acquired create their own shot whent he play breaks down?
I would still rather keep crawford at this juncture though he and Nate certainly could use some relief.

DEE-FENDERS,
Who’s Crazy?
It appears that LOGIC mixed w/ a dose of REALITY has INFECTED the Garden. Unlike some of the DEE-FENDERS
in the House, Monty realizes (late of course), that Crawful & Calvin Murphy/N8 are not the answer at the POINT.
Why did Isiah ignore Steph’s non-verbal request for validation? E-G-O. Where does the E-G-O put ZEKE?
14-33, w/ little hope for the Playoffs. Is Steph Crazy? He’s no crazier then Z-BO,Q,ROSE,and now SNAX,
in expressing frustration w/ the way they are used. Steph expressed his discontent just as the other guys,
but Isiah WANTING the keys back to the car, decided to put Steph back in his place. Bad Decision and Bad Management. A GM/Coach should never sacrifice a player UNLESS he a quality replacement.
Zeke’s EGO punished the OTHER players and fans. Monty now says the team needs a point. Who’s Crazy Now?
FOOL’S GOLD:
If the Knicks lost to Seattle is attributed to fatique, then the wins over Detroit & Washington both coming
off 4 games in 5 nights must be attributed to fatique. 5-7 since the Cancer has been removed from the
locker-room, w/ 2 questionable wins. In the words of the infamous DaVonn Jefferson, “We Suck”.
Eddy Curry:
As Sam Smith wrote today, the Knicks are phasing Curry out. The team has played better, because Eddy has
not slowed the players down. Would I trade Eddy? No Way. I would DEMAND CURRY LOSE 40 lbs before next
season. The excess weight has hurt every aspect of Curry’s game. I would also tell Eddy that he has
to EARN a starting position. Eddy and ZBO can play together if Eddy is in shape, mentally & physically.
No REBOUNDS, No MINUTES. If Eddy is a player he would win the challenge.
Peace & Blessings
By Statesman on Feb 4, 2008 at 6:57 pm
Think on it though, B & B…..Jamal’s ability to create his own shot is easier to replace than a deadeye shooter like Miller. A Lowry/Miller backcourt would re-emphasize the power post play, and Nate would inherit the shot-creating duties he clearly craves. He’s not nearly the player Jamal is in that respect, but defenses would have to respect Miller & Q on the wings, leaving lanes open for cutters and room in the blocks for Eddy to operate.
Just sayin’.
Sam Cassell…..i have not liked this dude for a long time. Looks like an entity that Special Agent Fox Mulder should be chasing after in the new X-Files movie. i am very surprised no one is making a move for him with the Clip Show going nowhere this year. He still makes big shots, and his immense pride keeps that body moving with the young dawgs. He’s still got some postseason daggers to throw, believe that!
Anyone care to comment on the Clip blog preview saying that Sam is gonna ABUSE Nate in the post tonight?
By PaulNoize on Feb 4, 2008 at 7:00 pm
STATESMAN - great post on Isiah’s mishandling of Marbury. i totally agree. Same thing happened with Larry Brown & Steph, except that both sides maneuvered (ever so slightly) and worked through it….and Steph ended up playing some fantastic basketball for a good long stretch once it was over. On both sides of the ball! Granted, Marbury has GOT to take some heat for his actions this season, but i think Isiah should as well. Can you imagine if someone had tried to break down Isiah the player like Zeke the coach/gm did to Steph? There’d be blood on the walls…
In all seriousness, i ask this: Is Eddy Curry prohibited from doing extensive cardio work due to his heart issues? i seem to remember reading something like that a long time ago, although it might date back to his first year here, revolving around insurance issues and whatnot…
Tim Thomas’ length could give us some problems tonight if he decides to be the “good” TT and not Mr. Softee launching bricks from behind the arc. If he gets hot, Jeffries is tailor-made to defend him.
By PaulNoize on Feb 4, 2008 at 7:09 pm
STATESMAN, i don’t think Eddy is ever gonna grab many rebounds on this team, simply because our OWN guys are grabbing them all too well (Zach, Lee, Nate).
He needs to show and prove his desire by ROTATING QUICKLY and challenging shots. That’s where his excess weight quite literally slows him down. It’d help if he were a quicker thinker, but i guess you can’t put lipstick on a pig and call her the prom queen.

Other than Miller, who are those guys? That is a trade just to be trading.Don’t see much value in it for us.
If we are going to give them cap relief AND one of our best players,we need more than Miller and throw-ins.
But my friend keep working and maybe, just maybe, you can find something Zeke will listen to…….cause we need something badly.

Knickdefense: Everybody is apparently focused on the aftermath of the Giant win at the
superbowl as well as the Super Tuesday primary election. Otherwise, all have simply
written off the season and will turn up around draft day. Some may drift back just
prior to the February 21 trade deadline with a variety of suggested moves, unless
Isiah makes a move prior to the deadline when commentary will be called for.
For the balance of this dismal season, I would like to stay positive, but find little
reason to believe that we can compete against teams playing 500 or higher, despite the unfortunately, close contests that took placeo on the 0 - 5 road trip. I would like to see Isiah play Wilson Chandler and Randoph Morris, especially that Q has been injured or ineffective and Curry is no longer featured or in Zeke’s doghouse.
Chandler can do no worse than Q or Jeffries at the 3, and offers more athleticism than either. Morris also offers as much if not more rebounding potential and defense as Malik, as well as more height, even if Morris lacks NBA experience. Why carry these
players when they could be gaining experience in the D league?
The lack of production from the 3 spot has plagued the Knicks all season. Q and Jeffries are not performing and are not likely to turn things around. Perhaps one or the other could be packaged in a trade; unfortunately, neither Q nor Jeffries, are very marketable because of their talent limiations and relatively high contracts. One or both should be bought out or traded for 2nd round draft choices (if possible) either now or at the end of the season.
Let’s hope for some kind of turnaround during this next homestand. LGK

Noize,
Curry’s cardio issues are no longer a problem. I am sure that if they were, he would not be playing at
all.
Isiah was a great player, a mentally tough guy. He did alter his game to win. Before Chuck Daly arrived
he avg. more points, and assist. Daly convinced him to share ball more, but dominate when they needed.
He did and became HOF player. The irony is that Isiah wanted Dantley gone because he slowed down the
team and dominated the ball, ala Curry. Isiah thought this hurt the team, pushed for Aquirre and team
won championships(2). He has asked Steph to make sacrifice that he thought hurt his team and his
game.
Peace & Blessings

Isiah won’t hire Coach Knight because he knows Coach Knight won’t tolerate no SUNTS on his team!
i give Knight two days with this crowd before he goes bezerk…..forget throwing a folding chair, i see him going Stone Cold Steve Austin with one upside Jamal’s head!
By PaulNoize on Feb 4, 2008 at 8:20 pm
wow….Knicks outscoring the Clips 19-5 in the second quarter!
By PaulNoize on Feb 4, 2008 at 8:21 pm
If Lee could hit that face up on the regular…
It would open the drive for him.
By Black and Blue on Feb 4, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Gotta give Lee credit, he hasn’t set the world on fire this year, but he has clearly added a bit to his arsenal. That is old-school, adding a lil sump’n'-sump’n each offseason, staying ahead of the next man. Let’s hope he keeps it up!
By PaulNoize on Feb 4, 2008 at 8:25 pm
KnicksD & Paulnoize,
Dolan would relax his media policy around Knight!
I believe Dolan would love every minute of knight-uncensored!
Remember …Knights calls the MSM one step above prostitution!
What better way for Zeke to return to GM than to turn the team over
to his mentor? THAT IS AN OPTION!!!!!!
By Peaceman on Feb 4, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Agreed Paulnoize!
By Black and Blue on Feb 4, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Peaceman
You want to subject the NY MSM to verbal- and possibly physcial- abuse?
LOL!
By Black and Blue on Feb 4, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Aaron Williams & Tim Thomas inside cannot check Eddy Curry! Feed the Big Man!
By PaulNoize on Feb 4, 2008 at 8:35 pm

By knicksdefense on Feb 4, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Feed the big man the rock…
Not another murder burger
Please no!
By Black and Blue on Feb 4, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Knicks up by 9
Lackluster play and the clippers got back into the game cutting the lead to 6 until Z-Bo hit that 3.
By Black and Blue on Feb 4, 2008 at 8:38 pm
DEE-FENDERS,
Eddy Curry 16 minutes, 16pts, 1-Rebound.
Peace & Blessings
By Statesman on Feb 4, 2008 at 8:44 pm
When curry takes the ball to the hoop he visualizes the ball as food going into a mouth, namely his.
There is no such association to be made with reboundig for Curry.
Gettig a rebound is like grabbing food which he can’t stuff into his mouth!
LOL!
By Black and Blue on Feb 4, 2008 at 8:54 pm
Jones with a three.
By Black and Blue on Feb 4, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Clips down by Seven
By Black and Blue on Feb 4, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Sam gets away with a shove and now gets to the lie to cut the Knick lead to 5
By Black and Blue on Feb 4, 2008 at 9:03 pm
Damn!!!! Another gassed performance. And I don’t mean Curry with the Murder Burgers either.Just a flat out woeful turnover filled disaster.Zeke, please trade Collins and Morris for Kyle Lowry!!!! Or find another PG to trade for. Please!!!!!
By George M. on Feb 4, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Is this thing on……!! I guess everyone else is just as gassed out from that flat performance.Check ya’ll out later.
By George M. on Feb 4, 2008 at 10:07 pm
New Name
Black and Bruised
Time to play the kids.
Perhaps had Q not gotten injured, shooting well tonight, the result would have been different.
It wasn’t.
Just like when Q went downhill after playing Miami
A good shooting Q gets hurt again and the team will head down hill again.
Play the pups, play hard develop the kids, but don’t trade our 1rst rounder.
Good Night!
By Black and Bruised on Feb 4, 2008 at 10:09 pm
GeorgeM
After the Giants show the NYC how to play all out with heart passion and desire…
We all would figure these clowns in Orange and Blue would come out inspired.
big Thud…
Disapointed as usual what’s new.
Lottery time.
DVJ and all others very familiar with College prospects.
You may begin to speculate as to who we should draft.
By Black and Bruised on Feb 4, 2008 at 10:12 pm
As far as drafting goes there are 3 major areas of need.A true PG,a SF that can defend and score and a shotblocker/rebounder/defender with a mid range jimmy at F/C who’s at least 6′10″ if not taller!
By George M. on Feb 4, 2008 at 10:19 pm
Hey B&B.The team played like one of Edwina’s Murder Burger farts let loose. They stunk up MSG.Period!!!!!
By George M. on Feb 4, 2008 at 10:21 pm
ugh.
By PaulNoize on Feb 4, 2008 at 10:27 pm
#61: George, that one is (literally) a tall order.
We might be able to pry Lowry loose by swapping out Malik for Brian Cardinal. Malik makes more money but Cardinal’s on the dole for an extra year. Only question is: does Memphis really believe in Crittendon, or do they wait until the very end of the trade deadline to make a move to make sure Crittendon has got the goods?
By PaulNoize on Feb 4, 2008 at 11:02 pm
we honestly look like a team that has just met each other playing their first game tonight.
if isiah wants to build the team around j chuck isolation plays let me be the first to say:
THAT IS NOT BASKETBALL!
it is supposed to be a team game. team defense, share the ball, ect. all the good stuff they taught you at the high school level. fundamentals. nbatv’s got the dvds if anyone in the locker room is interested.
By knicksdefense on Feb 4, 2008 at 11:31 pm
Yup, Crawford was silky smooth tonight, like a buttery chardonnay, able to get his shot off AT WILL against the mere mortals assigned to guard him!
Of course, he shot 7/21…..but did you see the MOVES? He’s a baller! He can go off for 50 against ANYONE on ANY GIVEN NIGHT! if it wasn’t for injuries, we’d be on a six game winning streak, right in the thick of the playoff hunt!
It’s all Isiah’s fault, we’re right there, on the cusp - tonight’s game proved it! If Zeke called the right rotations, we’d be challenging for the #2 seed! Cuz our beloved Knicks are SO DAMN GOOD BABY! CAN YOU FEEL IT, DEFENDERS????
By PaulNoize on Feb 4, 2008 at 11:32 pm
i take it you’re being sarcastic.
By knicksdefense on Feb 4, 2008 at 11:50 pm
Hey Paul.Ease up dude.We get it.He was letting out those stanky green fart clouds that Edwina is famous for on the defensive end.(come to think of it,Fatty had 2 blocks on the night, didn’t he??)Yeah me and Anti went back and forth on Berman’s blog about Crawford’s value at SG.Other announcers on League Pass calling Knick games have said with the right pieces around Jamal a team could be a winner. But I think those ISO plays should be done away with. And I always disagreed politely with Anti about his shooting consistency on 3’s.When given space and passed to in rhythm Jamal can be and is deadly from 3.But his shot selection has always been a problem with me.But these last 2 weeks have shown me that he shouldn’t play 40 minutes a game being a SG and a PG.Too much a load for him to carry. This team needs another PG ASAP!!!!!!!
By George M. on Feb 4, 2008 at 11:52 pm
No, i am not being sarcastic! There’s nothing i said in post #66 that hasn’t been repeated and agreed with by some of the wisest heads on this blog all season long. Guys who i like and respect, and who know their hoops.
It’s taken me awhile, but now i finally see the whole truth. OK, OK - maybe i had bad timing in my exultation, what with the underwhelming Giants shocking the world and winning a championship….no team could follow that act up. So i will lay low for awhile and chill…..but i just want y’all to know….i get it now.
By PaulNoize on Feb 4, 2008 at 11:59 pm
PaulNoise I understand and share your frustration, take a look at the survey results from just a few posts ago.
most of us saw this as a non-playoff making lottery team.
most of us hold isiah responsible for this mess either as coach or as gm or both.
this is a very bad time in the organization’s history.
less than 30% winning percentages over the past three seasons, yet no major changes are made.
what can we do about it? I’m open to suggestions.
By knicksdefense on Feb 5, 2008 at 12:16 am
you know i have at times been very negative about this team based on results on the court, but as a fan, it doesn’t help and it doesn’t change anything.
i went to almost all the games last season.
this season, just one, a preseason game up in boston and it was a nightmare.
if you watch the games, you can just hear how empty the garden is, no spirit because the team is losing so often.
i have no logical explaination as to why the status quo endures after all this time.
By knicksdefense on Feb 5, 2008 at 12:22 am
Paul, sarcasm aside, we are going back to our old ways because of the reinstatement of the old front line. It should be completely expected. Also, Nate is our next best point after Marbury and he was out…
But from now on, I will be keeping track of Eddy-Zach combo stats after every game:
The Knicks lost by 9.
– With Eddy & Zach together: -9
– With Eddy Alone: +7
– With Zach Alone: -7
On a brighter note, Q shot over 50% for his first game all season.
