First off, I want to say thank you guys for holding the fort down and representing Knicksdefense while I was out with the flu–there is something nasty going around the NYC area right now, and it has even bothered 4 or 5 knicks players so far, so you know there must be some viruses going around.
I finished watching the recording of the Knicks versus Portland, and I can’t hide my simultaneous content with the players’ effort, and disgust with the Knicks’ coaching decisions in the fourth and during overtime. Has any one of the diehard knicks fans on this blog ever witness a single play executed following a timeout by Isiah this season? Seems to me, if there is a timeout taken by the knicks, that more than likely, 9 times out of 10, it will culminate with Jamal Crawford forcing up a bad shot against a triple-team with no rebounders near the basket. Just awful coaching down the stretch and into the overtime. Does this sound familiar: we were winning the whole game and we gave it to them at the end. Zach Randolph had the hot hand, followed by Nate Robinson, so why did Isiah Thomas, constantly and repeatedly and ignorantly go back to the ice-cold Crawford? This is a pattern guys, and I’m not sure Isiah isn’t purposefully trying to make us the laughing stock we’ve been at this point. I say ignorantly because if you were observing the game and not ignoring the events of the game, namely Jamal Crawford frequently missing shots in the fourth quarter, you would not go back to Jamal time and again to take yet even more shots, you’d try another avenue, I don’t know, maybe get Zach the ball against the team he wants to destroy?
But no, we didn’t do that, our ship sank with Crawford chucking up bad shot after bad shot after bad shot, while Randolph and Robinson could only wonder as to why their number was never called down the stretch until it was far too late to WIN THE BASKETBALL GAME.
And I’m not the only one displeased with the coaching decisions Isiah is making, word is Nate had a problem with some of the recent substitutions and voiced his disagreement publicly, as did Zach Randolph earlier in the season, and Stephon Marbury before him. I’m not convinced it isn’t hands down some of the worst coaching decisions I’ve seen in the NBA.
And whats up with Magic Johnson butting in the Knicks business to tell the world he sees the Knicks as a seventh seed or eight seed? Magic says he’s watched every single Knicks game this year and knows that Isiah will be back to the playoffs. Magic is probably my favorite player ever, after Patrick Ewing, but guess what Magic, you’re not the only guy who has watched every single knicks game this season. You must forgive me if I don’t share that blind optimism about the knicks we’ve been watching. Last I heard, only real wins and not moral victories qualifies any team for the NBA playoffs. And while I certainly do hope for the knicks to turn it around and become a winning team, I have seen Isiah Lord Thomas shoot this team in the proverbial foot too many times this season to bet anyone even the smallest amount that we’re a lock for the playoffs and that we could put up a fight against Detroit or Boston. Bottom line is, no thanks Magic on your false optimism. If I listened to you every time you talked about the Knicks, Stephon Marbury would have been an all-star under Larry Brown as you said he was going to be at the time.
Makes you wonder if Magic Johnson is so concerned with the Knicks, why he didn’t just take the job instead of Isiah. Perhaps we’d have a GM right now that wasn’t enemies with 76% of the rest of the GM’s in the league.
Case in point: Pau Gasol being delt to the Lakers the other day. To me, this is a very similar trade compared to the KG to Boston trade earlier last year. Jerry West hookin’ up the Lakers, Kevin McHale hookin’ up the Celtics, both trades on paper look like pure crap for the team on the other end of the deal, and of course after both trades, rumors circulated that there were far better offers from other teams. But for some strange reason(maybe not so strange after all), these deals went down. If there is an underground fraternity in the NBA, Isiah Thomas, just like on Dream Team I, was not invited to join.
Isiah, why not show mercy upon Knicks fans everywhere and just resign? By continuing to coach the Knicks, Isiah shows me he is as loyal to the Knicks as Larry Brown was, losing games and looking over his shoulder hoping Dolan will be instructed by his surrounding bean-counters to just fire him already. Isiah wants the money to walk, just like Larry wanted the money to walk. between the two of them, there is zero percent loyalty to the Knicks organization. I say it will be the bean counters making the decision to fire Isiah because Dolan does not seem capable of making any intelligent team decisions himself, focusing only on Nazi-strict media policies that seek to have every NYC writer fired and unable to collect unemployment.
Balance needs to be restored to the basketball universe. MSG is the Mecca of basketball. NBA attendance is down league-wide. If we had fired Isiah long ago, you can’t tell me it wouldn’t be possible for us to right now have a Kobe Bryant (who was disgruntled all summer) or a Kevin Garnett (who wasn’t opposed to playing again with Marbury) or a Gasol in Knicks colors, because we could have had Jerry West (whom Kobe loves) or Coangelo (who GM’s league-wide love) or Kiki (maybe Iverson would be on our team right now had Kiki came aboard instead of joining the Nets) calling the shots and making the deals instead of Isiah’s Canadian “yes man” Glen Grunwald.
The N-word. That was unfortunate. You’ll never see me using it. I’m not going to police over people who choose to use it, because I don’t believe in censorship or being a chaperon for grown adults. I’ve already tried to block certain words from being used. turns out it is more of a headache than just asking people be respectful, because people I don’t want getting blocked are blocked for no reason. software is a tricky business, far from perfect.
We’ve had a few blog cancers that I’ve had to systematically remove from our ranks, yet despite the measures I’ve taken to prevent these people from posting here, if their only ambition in life is to kick us while the Knicks are down, they’ll probably find a way to get though, so try to take it as a compliment, because apparently we mean everything in the world to these lonely people.
Everyone is welcome to post here as long as they show tact, and my hope is that our numbers as die hard knicks bloggers will continue to grow, but if you are not a knicks fan, I would hope that you have something better to do with your time, perhaps seek counseling from a professional or, God forbid, find a blog on a team you actually like and stay there. These couple of cancers seem to think I have something to do with Isiah Thomas when the reality is, I most certainly do not, so don’t bring your crap here thinking you are sticking it to him, because you absolutely are not.
Just bloggin’

i like kyle lowry too George M. he showed a lot of promise until he got hurt his rookie year, sat out a lot of games but when he was healthy he was a cleaver player.
take a look at this:
http://www.nbadraft.net/2006.asp
hindsight is always 20-20, but assuming renaldo would have still been there at 29th, we could have taken lowry at 23, and picked up taz at 29, instead of having to trade for him now.
but it is what it is. the two things I want to know are:
do the knicks have it in them to make a playoff run this season, or should they lose to get a higher pick?
is isiah going to make a move before the trade deadline?
isiah was quoted after tonight’s game saying they need a point guard. very interesting for him to just say something like that. time will tell. i think they need a shot blocker more than a point guard, but they do NEED a point guard, so the order doesn’t matter too much.
my bad, 20th. point remains the same…
OK KD.Who do you think we should draft/trade for in the shotblocking/defending/rebounding with a mid range J dept.Hopefully the guy can defend both the 4 and 5 positions.
Fuck Isiah. I can’t take this anymore.
– Yesterday Jamal throws up brick after brick and he takes the last few shots.
– Tonight Jamal is shooting better and you could have run an iso with Jamal (with Zach down low) and what happens Nate (0-8) takes it. This is infuriating.
This stuff is basic. Very basic.
Also, yesterday Renaldo kicks ass. His reward? Q plays 37 minutes to Balkman’s 17. Another game given away. How long will this go on…

NBA Month in Review:
1/2/08-2/1/08
Thanks KD, no problem with the Pre Game. I’m feeling a little better about our chances so a combination of time and inspiration helps me write those things.
With that said, I need a shower because this West Coast Trip has got me feeling dirty. I had taken KD off my browser for the day b/c I don’t want to think about the Knicks, but I felt like I should shout out to my guys before I go hibernate and wait for the Giants to clean up my NY State of Mind.
Last night I didn’t expect us to win, but we could have and I am very unhappy about 0-5. Really pissy and not a reflection of the energy these guys are playing with. Better coaching would make a difference. It has improved but not enough.
Anyway, I owe a couple of short responses to fellas for holla backs on the “Peaceman Bein’ A Badboy” Piece. I’ll take care of them later. The topic needed a rest and the KD crew handled the business as I knew they would. Much respect. Thanks to those who welcomed me back — it’s true, time and inspiration finally coincided this season. When I start rappin’ and racing to a numbered post, like a kid in a playground, you know I have found some time I could steal without doing permanent damage to a business or personal relationship.
I’m out for the day. I’m fatigued and my 40% shot is off. . . . I really do not feel like thinking about the Knicks this Sunday; too hard to come up with good thoughts. Enjoy. KILL THE PATRIOTS. LET’S GO GIANTS.
Can we fire this guy now?
Please
great trade idea georgem. i think i saw something about the grizz gm saying he’s gonna put conley, lowry and critt in a room and let em duke it out; best two have a job, third place finisher gets shipped out. mebbe we can make a deal for critt and save em the scuffle.
really tired of them patriots. it would be sooo sweet if the giants stomp em good today. LGG!
also, rethinking that zeke-as-kane bit. i’ll bet dolan is far more appropriate in that role. he seems intent at thumbing his nose at people’s expectations and common sense. zeke is waging his own private, subtle war with him. [/paranoid speckoolation]
Didn’t see the game yesterday
Catchig Knicks rewind right now.
Score I saw indicated a competitive game but aother disapoitig loss.
Here is some news, some of which you guys know about some of which might be news to you.
Big Snaxx Jerome James says to Isiah either use him or trade him and lose him.
Funny thing is has that lazy turd ever shown the Knicks that he wanted tp plau significant minutes.
Also Zeke has finally aknowledged that his team needs a point gaurd.
Well lets go Giants for today.
I liked the amicable back and forth between KnicksD and Lives.
I like Lives am a eternal optimist, and there is cause for seeing the cup as half full during this current Western swing.
The team is playing very competitively and IMHO should have pulled out about 3 of these games on the road.
The team is not being blown out and are far from the league laughing stock that some beat reporters and sports journalist would depict the Knicks as.
Still MODI and KnicksD are correct regarding Zeke/Monty’s mismanagement of the team and the game time situations.
The Portland loss and last nights loss to the Sonics, as per the blog line, indicate that Zeke appears to have trouble one diagraming a play to the players on for that particular night.
Those foibles and many more have compounded the Knicks problems out West and has resulted in a goose egg of 0-5 out West with a playoff birht very far out of sight at this juncture.
But if the team continues to play with this itensity ad level of competitiveness, andn Moty/Zeke adapts as a coach, two very big ifs, then perhaps a playoff run is still possible.
Good day to all at their respective Super Bowl Parties.
Is there any chance that the end game failed plays are due to poor execution rather than poor coaching?
well PaulNoize, my beef is that we are running these plays that isiah draws up coming out of timeouts. going back to crawford right out of timeouts, when he is doubleteamed and not making any shots in the quarter, going to nate robinson when he was, like modi said 0-8 for the game until that point, isiah is right to say that they need a point guard right now, because the point guard must have the intuition during execution, ie know who to get the ball to and when, but during the timeouts, isiah is drawing up the x’s and o’s so it is on him when we lose with the ball obviously in the wrong person’s hands.
it is getting to the point where I’m just thinking of the draft and OTP whom may come over in a few years when they’re free agents. sad but true. the glass is 29.8% full (14-33). i go down with the ship, there is no other team to root for in my book, but what are we realistically hoping for the rest of the season?
we may still make the playoffs, but they have to actually start winning ball games, staying close doesn’t amount to jack schitt in terms of playoff positioning.
if we get someone before the trade deadline, should it be a point guard, a defensive big, or a small forward that plays both ways?
Paulnoize
I concur with KnicksD assessment of Zeke’s mismanagement of late game Xs and Os, if diagramed then those plays are going to the wrong hands or eventually end up in the wrong hand w/o a viable contingency plan.
I’ve become an OTP geek recently but only b/c there are genuine needs which still must be addressed. Lets see what Monty will do… Lets see if going foward he will handle late game situations in the same haphazard manner as he has done during the 5 game West Coast road trip.
I still believe we can do it, but something has to change because we’re in striking distance each game, but we just can’t close it out. go for the kill, you know?
good teams find a way to win,
bad teams find a way to lose.
the time has come to stop being a bad team.
Good Point KnicksD
Statesman made a point about the team developing in stages, and that’s why his prediction for this season was in the low 40- I believe around 43 wins.
What we all failed to see this season, due to various factors, was how much and how far a step back this team would take.
There are so many reasons why this happened, and that is perhaps a seperate topic for a separate thread on the forum.
The Knicks did tur a corner about over a week or two ago from being a terrible team to being a bad team.
They are in may games but as you say can’t close them out, that is what seperates the wheat from the chaffe, or the cream of the crop from the rest of the field.
But at least the Knicks are not now at the very bottom of the barrel, as Mike Lupica, and those other vultures would like us to believe them to be.
Have fun at your superbowl party.
I’ll be doing likewise bruh!
