Watch the “Leap Frog” jump the Knicks make in the Eastern conference!
We will make the 8th seed with or without Artest! Stay with me now!
I pray the Knicks do no better than 8th seed. Why? I believe we can
play with Boston much better than the Magic or playoff tested Detroit!
41 more games to stay health and watch Boston start playing their age!
Jersey and the Pacers are toast! Lights on in the Garden in May!
With Artest, lights on in the Garden in June!!!! ust Blogging!

Peaceman,

There’s no sort of proof of that—Knicks beating Boston—if anything they best Detroit once, and almost bested Orlando.

How do I get to see the poll results ?

Good AM Defenders,
If you believe the MSM, IT has got everyone eating salty popcorn and sucking on salty nuts. Now the whole NBA can either cry crocodile tears or get advice from the Force MDs and Peaceman: get meds for hypertension.

couple of points from the previous thread….

1) Man – i really, really hope that Malcolm (a true American hero) did not call it “intelligents”. He prized education and learning as a primary way to demonstrate toughness, pride, and a desire to improve one’s lot in life – not to mention setting a wonderful example for the next generation. That aspect of “manliness” is now often derided as being “gay”, sadly.

2) Sac doesn’t lose Artest for NOTHING – they get his full playing services for this season, plus they don’t have to take on any “expiring” contracts in 2008-09 (a polite way of saying they don’t have to pay a complete stiff millions and millions of dollars for doing absolutely NOTHING), and they gain his cap room immediately this summer. i know that doesn’t seem like a lot of value, but those three things are certainly worth significantly more than nothing. Plus, they also would retain the right to work on sign-and-trade scenarios if they chose, which is probably precisely what Artest is hoping for (he ain’t coming to NYC for Jerome James money, people).

3) Sleep on Shaq if you want, but if he donned the orange and blue you would see an immediate ripple effect on everyone on this roster. Guys would play harder on both ends of the floor – all of them! Z-Bo doesn’t have that ability, nor does Nate, DLee, E-Chubby or even Isiah. Sure, he’s on the downside….but the exact same argument applies to a guy like Artest. Anyone who thinks Ron-Ron is gonna be worth more than the veteran’s minimum in 2012 is betting against huge odds. Artest will be a smaller Ben Wallace by then – a salary cap albatross.

4) Thanks for the poll, KD. Great stuff! You get thanked often for hosting this here blog, but perhaps not enough by me. Your efforts are appreciated, and help me avoid costly therapy sessions.

5) Wow, i read that Pearlman piece on Malik, and….holy man-crush, Batman! Get a room, already! He’s the 88th highest paid player in the league and the 432nd ranked player in the league…plus, i think he is the Deep Throat that has leaked tidbits to the so-called “MSM” which has helped fracture this team AND its relationship with its Coach/GM/Generalissimo.
A section from the article from Pearlman, a former Sports Illustrated guy…
“To be blunt, Malik Rose is too good for these Knicks — too good of a teammate, too good of a person. In the immediate aftermath of player introductions, Rose routinely embraces each New York starter in a firm hug while whispering, “Go get ‘em” or “Make it your night.” During timeouts, as the eyes of the starters stray from Thomas’ clipboard to watch the gyrating (and scantily clad) Knicks City Dancers, Rose — a reserve forward and one of the last men off New York’s bench — leans in as if he were studying details of the Malta Summit.”

totally off-topic, just for a lil wed humour… a progress report on dnice (iow, nuthin new ;-) )

fwiw, i too don’t give our host the most praise for how he maintains the site. man, this be a rough an tumble joint at times, but you command respect enough to keep the lunatics from taking over the asylum. KD remains the standard for lively, varied opinion and insight. Long live the defense!

Noize,
Peaceman blogged on this and speculated that the Scholar was Deep Throat. In your useful post, you provided what Cooleyhigh likes to call prima facia evidence. Very useful.

Still, I submit that he may very well be a sanctioned “Deep Throat”–the kind the NB Actors fondly pay with 10 Bennies per hour. Just bloggin’.

REPOST REPOST (WITH SOME MINOR EDITS/ADDITONS)

Thanks for the positive replies to my Just Bloggin article on how to squash the N.B.A. Danny Ainge style tank jobs!

—– First off the edits will come with astericks ——

Just Bloggin

Does anyone think that the following rules should be instituted to penalize “tanking” or the perception of tanking a season in the NBA.

All while maintaining a teams position in the lottery- means they start off with the standard number of power balls based on their record at the end of the year.***This means that teams will begin with the set amount of powerballs that correlates to thier record-i.e., position in the draft.***

1. Subtract a powerball on any loosing streak beyond 10- nice solid number but arbitrary of course.
2. Subtract an additional power ball, or half a power ball, on any loss past the tenth loss.
*** I think half a power ball is better that way the penalty is not so extreme ***
* Half a power ball deducted can be subject to a pre lottery coin toss which depending on the call of the coin will either count as a full power ball to be alloted as a reward to competitve teams with losing records, or will have no adverse effect on the tanking ainges.
* Half powerballs deducted for losses beyond 10 straight losses or 5 straight blowouts, which add to a full power ball will be deducted as a full power ball.
3. Subtract a powerball on any consecutive series of blowout losses beyond 5.
* Define a blowout as any loss beyond 15 points- arbitrary but there are close games that are double digit and their are blowouts that turn into competitve games on paper, hence the cut off splits the extreme of losses beyond 20 points and DDL of more than 10 points.
4. Subtract an additional power ball, or half a power ball, on any additional consecutive blowout beyond 5.

Mercy Rule:
* Games that go to OT are not counted as a consecutive loss- this rewards competitveness Not Danny, “Old Boy Netword,” Ainge style tanking.

The kicker
6. Reward the team out of the top five stinkers who sustains any winning streak at 3 or above a powerball taken from the “tankers”.
—-any additional powerballs goes to teams 6-10.
7. Reward the most comptetive team out of the top five stinkers who beats the most playoff teams and/or above 500. teams a powerball taken from one of the “tankers.”
—-any additional powerballs goes to teams 6-10.
8 Reward the most competitve team out of the top five stinker a power ball for any NBA season month in which they sustain a record at or above 500. a powerball taken from the “tanker.”
—-any additional powerballs goes to teams 6-10.

last rule, the fuck you Kevin Mcfail Danny Boy Mainge Rule!
9. In the event the biggest tanker fails to land the big lotto prize, and attempts a trade, the trade must be.
—-run for review by objective NBA analyst– this one is the stretch.
—-lopsided trades, have a presumption of collusion, unless a fair assessment shows that no other team could provide a better package of players than the tanking team and its trade, anal sex, partner.

Again Just Bloggin.

Again thanks for the positive review.

What do you see in Shaq(today) that makes you think he will have an impact on the Knicks?

MONTY, I am having a bout of Righteuous Indignation…This Prayer is for you MONTY and all of my DEFENDER Brethren and Sisters..

oday’s Quote
Adversity introduces a man to himself.

Today’s Scripture
“The reverent fear and worship of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom’s friend” (Psalm 111:10).

Today’s Word
Do you need more wisdom in your life today? The Bible says that the reverent fear and worship of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. That word, fear, in this instance, doesn’t mean “to be afraid” it means to have honor and respect. It means that we revere Him because He is God. Wisdom begins when you honor God. When you truly respect and worship Him out of a grateful heart, then Wisdom will operate in your life. One simple definition of wisdom is applied knowledge. It doesn’t matter if you have all the knowledge, facts, and figures in the world, or if you are a high school drop out. Honoring and worshiping God is what makes you wise. Start today and begin to declare His goodness and faithfulness in your life. That’s worship. Declare who He is with a humble heart of faith. Declare that He is your Provider, your Healer, your Redeemer. When you focus on your God, instead of focusing on your problems, you are honoring Him. As you honor Him, Wisdom will flow through you and you’ll be empowered to live the life of victory He has in store for you!

A Prayer for Today
Father in Heaven, I choose today to honor and respect you as my God. Thank you for filling me with your Wisdom today so that I can live in Victory the way you intend. Help me make wise choices and honor you all the days of me life. Amen.

Keep it POPPIN!

D L T – Shaq at the very least talks the talk, which is a damn sight more inspiring than the mealy-mouthed cliche-ridden coachspeak of mumbly Jamal Crawford or the delusional nice guy Eddy “I’m Think Good Enough To Be A Starter In This League” Curry.

He is (reluctantly) becoming used to less touches, and does play the defensive end of the court. Sure his body is breaking down, but he still jumps on occasion – and even when he doesn’t, he uses his weight and wingspan to good advantage, certainly better than what eddy or jerome bring.

He is much bigger than Z-Bo & DLee, who are not well suited to play at the 5 even in this era of three guards and two forwards.

Finally, his rings, his size, his ability to command media attention, and his Hall Of Fame resume would instantly catapult him to team leader. He would spit rhetoric and it would generate media and even fan pressure that his teammates would have to live up to.

Plus, he will actually take to the court on occasion, hit a few jump hooks, and clog up the lane. Just a thought. =)

16 JohnQ January 23, 2008 at 3:47 pm

Paul,

You seem willing to trade a never was for a has been. Not smart. Why would we want to pull in a C who is deffinitely past his prime ? If you want to target a shot blocker, take a good look at Dalembert. The Sixers are looking to get rid of him to make room for Elton Brand when he becomes available. Andre Miller + Dalembert = Marbury money wise and time wise.

17 D L T Knicks January 23, 2008 at 4:03 pm

@Noize

OKay,I will give you the’talk the talk’ part and will add in ‘leadership’.

However, seeing that his body is breaking down.

Added with the fact that he is 35 years old and has 4 rings already.

QUESTION:Where is his ‘desire to win’ coming from? And for how long? 1,2 years max?

I’m definitly not backing ECurry and his lack of defense, which would be better if he would just”throw your hands in the air, and wave em like you just don’t care”,or something close to that.

When I watch Shaq play these days,I don’t see any ‘fire’.There should be lots of ‘fire’ on a 14 game losing streak.

I just don’t think Shaq can ‘lead by example’ with this young team.

DEE-FENDERS,

Peace & Blessings,
It seems as if the OFF-SEASON is already here. What does a Knick fan do now other then discuss trades and buyouts. Do the
GAMES really matter? Do we ReSet our goals and hope for 17 more wins to get to 30? Do we set 33 wins as the new bar,
with hopes of beating last year Win total, a team that brings back FOND memories for some DEE-FENDERS? Is there anyway to
SMELL success from this current Knicks product?

Peace & Blessings

The Curry Factor-Part II
Analyzing Curry’s Game leads to interesting conclusions. This is STRICTLY his On-Court game. I would need Personal Interaction
to reach a Conclusion on his Mental state. Curry gives you 20-very good games a year, which could lead some to comparing him
to Shaq. He will give you 20-Horrible games, which will lead some to question why is he in the League. Out of the remaining
42 games, Curry will spend half (21) in foul-trouble, (offensive fouls, poor foot-work, poor conditioning), so he will be a non-factor.
The other half (21) Curry will play Hard for one quarter to a half, or put up numbers in GARBAGE-TIME, appearing from a box-score
perspective to be a contributor. Bottom-Line w/ Curry is you will forever be TEASED by the 20 very good games, while 75% of the time
he is really just Salary-Cap Space. My recommendation is to find a SUCKA that will focus on the 20 very-good games and pull the
trigger on a Curry trade.

Peace & Blessings

DEE-FENDERS & Fantasy GMs, The Sixers want to unload Dalembert, but they will not trade him to anyone w/n the division and possibly
the conference. Looking at recent trades, it is easy to conclude that GMs do not want to see their X-player more then twice a year.
You may want to give this some consideration when making your next trade proposal.

Peace & Blessings

yeah, can’t see how shaq is much help long term for the knicks. he’d be a nice piece if you’re a half-piece away from a solid chips team, i guess. we’re trying to build for the future and shaq is way too expensive for what he’ll be able to produce. dalembert would be awesome (y’all need some more canucks in the apple ;-) )

21 knicksdefense January 23, 2008 at 4:54 pm

Cooleyhigh, thank you for all the praise.
but you give me too much credit–it the defenders that keep this place poppin’ so thank you!

22 D L T Knicks January 23, 2008 at 5:11 pm

This trade works for a center and point guard and they get cap relief.(JohnQ #16)

23 D L T Knicks January 23, 2008 at 5:15 pm

I would prefer this trade.

They would get cap relief and a young talent.

We fight for a championship.

24 JohnQ January 23, 2008 at 6:38 pm

DLT,

Dude you have to take Thomas and his albatross, and Bibby in that trade. You are overvaluing Bibby. His skills have diminished as well. Miller is a lateral move. You don’t take additional years on the Miller contract.

With Artest, (and I covet him as much as anyone else here) NY should be able to entice the Maloofs into a Renaldo and Malik package instead of him walking to another team and them getting jack.

25 Black and Blue January 23, 2008 at 7:38 pm

“The New York Knicks May Not be Ron Artest’s only Choice!”

From page two of Sam Smith’s article:

“Ron Artest, with the Kings last week beating the Pistons and Pacers back to back, amazingly listed Indiana and Detroit—where his fight helped ruin the Pacers’ franchise—as two of his preferred destinations when he opts out after this season. He also said he could stay in Sacramento. Or go to New York or Miami. Teams looking at the Kings expect Sacramento to deal both Artest and Mike Bibby, the latter now playing more off the ball with Beno Udrih effective while Bibby was injured.”

26 Peaceman January 23, 2008 at 8:07 pm

@ Paulnoize,

I have to agree with you on Shaq. He needs a change and a recharge!
I believe Shaq has two years of 25-30 minutes a game left at a high
level if he comes to the Mecca! Of course Artest, Zach and Lee will have to be his staples!
Even a 75% Shaq is 200 times better than a 100% Curry! How old were Parish, Kareem, Dave Robinson,
Cartwright, Moses Malone, when they won there final rings??? The key would be giving them Marbury
and a young player…..Morris? Chandler?

27 Peaceman January 23, 2008 at 8:21 pm

@ Anti,
The Knicks are blessed when it comes to playing the Celtics in the first round,
when the Celtics are overwhelming favorites! For example, the year the Knicks traded
away Rod Strickland for Mo Cheeks staight up(worst trade in knicks history) the Knicks
played Boston as an 8th seed(I believe.) he Celtics had Bird, Mchale, Ainge, DJ and Parish.
The Knicks had Ewing, Oak, Gerald Wilkins, Mo Cheeks and Johnny Newman. Back then it was the best of 5
the fist round. The Celtics blew out the Knicks 2 staight @ Boston. the Knicks regrouped and won both
@ the garden ( I was at both those games) then went to Boston and Newman and Ewing kicked their ass for
one of the biggest upsets in NBA history! It is rumored that History repeats itself????????? lol

DLT, with funny! lol

30 Anti-NYSportsNews January 23, 2008 at 8:57 pm

Peaceman,

I’m all for a Knicks giving Boston a big time beat down in the playoffs like Eddy “lazy-Pass” Curry does to a MickeyDees double cheese burger with extra mayo and pickles.

I just can’t imagine Boston losing to the Knicks though. Perhaps remove one of the three big from the equation Knicks might stand a chance.

31 HarleminMD January 23, 2008 at 9:11 pm

Getting Shaq would be a terrible move for us. The NBA has changed. Shaq is not able to use his weight to dominate opponents. His style of play is basically illegal and is certainly not worth $30/year at this point.

32 Peaceman January 23, 2008 at 9:26 pm

Shaq makes 30 million a year??????

33 African January 23, 2008 at 9:30 pm

That was $30.00/year.

34 Peaceman January 23, 2008 at 9:33 pm

LOL African!

35 Peaceman January 23, 2008 at 9:40 pm

Imagine Shaq mentoring Curry for the next two years????
I think PaulNoize is on to something here!
In other news… it seems the knicks were bunkerd down at MSG today,
working the phones or whatever they do in the think tank!
This came from the ” Insider 5 minutes ago….” something is brewing!
I am not Bullshiting you guys! I have no clue to what …but something
is brewing!!!!!!!!

36 George M. January 23, 2008 at 9:48 pm

At this point Peaceman for all we know the only thing brewing at MSG could be the GAS inside Curry from the 200 White Castle murder burgers he ate today!! LOL!!!! MSG could end up quarentined from the “master blaster” he might let loose!!!!

37 HarleminMD January 23, 2008 at 9:55 pm

Typo. I meant $20.

You’re a real smartass African.

38 Peaceman January 23, 2008 at 9:56 pm

George M….on a serious note …people get ready..there’s a train coming!
No charge for tickets…just get on board!

39 HarleminMD January 23, 2008 at 9:56 pm

It would be a shame to make a trade now.

40 Black and Blue January 23, 2008 at 9:59 pm

ROFLMFAO!

“for all we know the only thing brewing at MSG could be the GAS inside Curry from the 200 White Castle murder burgers he ate today!! LOL!!!! MSG could end up quarentined from the “master blaster” he might let loose!!!!”

You think Dolan might thank Curry if the Master Blaster E-Chubby lets loose thwarts the MSM reporters attempts to dig a story out of the MSG bunker.

Or maybe the MSM reporters can’t help themselves, and upon hearing word of a “destructive blow-up as MSG,” they head out to get the skinny for the next day’s rumor mill and end up dying of toxic gas inhilation. Curry becomes a folk hero for killing the Isolas and Hahns and Bermans of the world.

LOL!

41 Peaceman January 23, 2008 at 10:00 pm

Harlem in Md…
you should know by now…lol…this blog
is full of smartasses! It’s being a NYER!!!!!

42 Peaceman January 23, 2008 at 10:01 pm

Harlem in md,
If not now when should we make a trade?????

43 HarleminMD January 23, 2008 at 10:02 pm

Does KnicksDefense think we can make a playoff push with Crawford, Nate at PG? In the Wizards game, Nate struggled with feeding our bigs in the post. Zach/Curry had to come off the block to receive the ball, then work back into the post, which usually resulted in a bad shot selection. Mardy was our best passer into the post, but doesn’t seem to be working out.

A trade solves nothing at this point. Multiple player deal forces the team to learn how to play together again; one-player deal will not address all of the flaws.

We should just wait until 2009.

44 HarleminMD January 23, 2008 at 10:03 pm

I mean, we should wait until next season (2008-2009).

45 Peaceman January 23, 2008 at 10:03 pm

5.5 games out of 8th seed……
We need to get better before game 42!!!!

46 Peaceman January 23, 2008 at 10:06 pm

Why can’t you guys see one freaken trade is the difference
between playoffs or another 7th Frye pick?????????

47 HarleminMD January 23, 2008 at 10:07 pm

Like someone else said on another thread: this team is a tease and they’re giving me blueballs. I’d rather have the 1984-85 team than this one. This team does not defend the perimeter. Drives me crazy. Antawn Jamison had 30-something, shooting at will. That’s not the New York way.

48 HarleminMD January 23, 2008 at 10:08 pm

We would lose in the first round. The top four teams will defeat this team.

49 Peaceman January 23, 2008 at 10:09 pm

The NY way was back in 1973 when we won a chip!
This young team needs to get to the playoffs
by any means possible! Look at the magic!!!!!!

50 Peaceman January 23, 2008 at 10:10 pm

I’ll take a first round loss! It where you start!!!!!
