Knicks@Nets
Seems like we have some defenders representing at the knicks games lately with African at the Wizards game and DVJ attending tonight’s game in Jersey against the Nets. DVJ has informed us that he’ll be sitting directly behind the knicks bench–sweet seats man, how’d you score them? We’ll be looking for you–perhaps you could help us out and hold up a Knicksdefense sign during the timeouts to let us know it is you.
Last time we played this team they didn’t have Kidd and we took them for a victory. Now that Kidd is back, we don’t have Marbury–not necessarily a bad thing depending on how you interpret the team’s season-high two game winning streak coming into tonight’s battle for the Hudson River.
This Knicks team moved the ball and had an impressive collective assist to turnover ratio at 26:9. I don’t want to get overly excited about a two-game win streak, but if the Knicks keep that up for the rest of the season, we won’t be talking about being in the lottery come April.
Jamal was 6-7 from three point land and had 29 points on the night. That’s great production, hope he keeps up with the good shooting percentages.
Nate continues to impress me this month and I especially like the improved passing and decision making with the basketball. Now if we can get him to read those passing lanes and use his superior quickness to steal the basketball, we’ll see more dunks from Nate then he amassed in two NBA dunk contest finals.
That reverse dunk from David Lee in the fourth was sick like the flu (C. Mack).
Q had a dunk!! also, Q was on fire in the first half and eventually shot 50% through the game finishing with 13 and 7. Nice to see Q rediscover his touch and hope he can continue to give us that kind of production at the small forward position. Just think how good the Knicks would be if Q were in that kind of form all season long?
Randolph Morris saw daylight during the last minute of the game and committed a foul. David Lee jokingly came over to congratulate him for getting a mark on the stat sheet. What can I say, the guy should be in the d-league learning and getting good exercise.
No minutes for our unsung hero Wilson Chandler.
Caron reminds me of Artest in some ways. He’s a hell of a ball player.
Did you see Jeffries getting those consecutive blocks? Reminded me of charles Smith in the playoffs except he was scottie pippen and they were the knicks! Jeffries is my favorite Knick this year. Last year it was Mardy and Balkman. Speaking of Mardy he played 40 seconds and got an assist.
Zach might not be the problem at all, I concede, but we have to be careful not to blame this entirely on Stephon’s absence from the team. I’m not going to stick up for Stephon, however, I do think Isiah is finally making the changes that have been so obvious to some of us in terms of who should play (Nate, Lee, Balk, Jeffries) and who deserves to sit, depending on the players’ performances and not on their salary level or veteran status. Bottom line? If your best lineup last night is Nate, Crawford, Balkman, Jeffries and Lee, those guys should see minutes every night and should not rot on the bench as they have during stretches this season.
This is what I took from the Isiah post-game interview. Without naming names, he blamed this season’s poor performance on the player’s attitude. He said the losses were due to trying to manage some of the personalities on the team who care more for the name on the back of the jersey instead of the name on the front of the jersey. He could have been talking about Curry or Randolph, both players have been called selfish at times in their careers, but from watching the post game interview, it seems Isiah is “going though the process” to make sure certain people “fall by the wayside.” Anyone come to mind?
Should the knicks get a “W” tonight in Jersey, I might consider his point of view as plausible. As of right now, it seems to me Isiah is just now playing the players he should have been playing when the ball first went up in November. Just blogging.
And another reason I’m glad they won: I was beginning to think Kenny Smith calling Knicks games was a jinx for this team.
As far as tonight, you know when you play the Nets it is the big three you have to be concerned with: Carter, Kidd, Jefferson. Kidd especially because he was out last time. They dislike us, and we dislike them. But they haven’t played very well this year relatively speaking, so can the Knicks make it three in a row? Depends on how much energy I see from the orange and blue in the first couple minutes of the basketball game. You’ll know by then if this Knick team wants to do what it takes to continue to win, or if they’re content with winning a couple before going back to sleep at the wheel.

TWO PROFITS PRESEASON 2007!
DAVONN & PEACEMAN….WE NEED TO GET MARBURY’S ASS OUT OF
TOWN ON THE FIRST THING SMOKING!!!!!!!!!!!!! True! BUT LOL!!!!
We took some heat about Bridge Jumping and all!
But MODI and STATESMAN……Wear you WET SUITS!!!! The Hudson and East Rivers are
COLD as DICK CHANEY’S LOVE FOR HIS LESBO DAUGHTER!!!!!!LOL
Again, I know we have played without Marbury before and our record was bad however, the team knew
he would eventually be back. Now that they know he is no longer in the picture AT ALL, it will
continue to have a positive impact on our team. Now, that’s not to say we’re going to go on a 10
game winning streak but even if we win 7 of our next 10…that’s fine by me. Then again, come to think
of it….it would hurt our draft chances.
I’m stuck!!!
I want to see us continue to win because we’re only 6 games out of the 8th seed with more than 40 games
left. Anybody with common sense can see WE’RE VERY MUCH ALIVE as far as making a push for the playoffs.
Then again, I want some of that young talent coming in the league this year.
If I was Zeke, I wouldn’t trade Marbury. I would simply let his contract come off the books. I would do the
same with Rose. Together your looking at almost 30 million in expiring deals.
Jamal may just make me eat my words.
Who knew he was so capable of being consistent?
DVJ,
Consistancy at any level is a GOOD thing; it is the mark of a true professional. However, it is also said that doing the same bad thing consistantly and anticipating a different result is a mark of stupidity. Modi’s point is that at 41%, that is not consistantly GOOD. Still, Anti- says hangin’ 52 on DWade is enough prima facia evidence that JCraw is better. Sure, his shot looks uncanny and unorthodox. When they go up and clonks, it looks like an awful chuck and thus the names (JChuck and JCrawful). But then Dr. Bronx can see the NY Hutzpah or the cahones on the guy. Crawford (like Ewing and Starks before him) got gorilla ones that will fit only in the biggest mouth on this blog. Crawford wants the ball at the closing seconds like Ewing did. Still, if you believe the MSMs, Monty is shoppin’ him. Go figure.
I support Modi and Statesman formulations that the best role (if Marbury is playing) is for Crawford to be with the energy wave of the second unit coming on for instant offense a la Gordon and MoPete (who played with Zbo at MSU BTW). We’re beyond that now. We’ve got the fellas buckling down and doing/knowing what’s good–the TEAM concept. Zeke and IT need to stay true to the script and stop this 3-card Monty thing. They found the appropriate spin for the Steph thing–I feel ya Peace (you know how we do). And from all my recollections and snoopin’, DVJ you will be WHOLE Knick fan again one day when a certain player can opt out. That reason alone (the ability to deliver certain talents to the NYK) is why IT is still around. Watch the value of the franchise then. Just bloggin’
KFLL
Damn you dudes write alot.
Whaddup with all those teams trying to jack us with such weak trade proposals.
I’m glad Zeke is shooting them down. Cause if he bit on any, Monty’s ass would have to be shipped out on the next train out.
Check you guys out at game time tomorrow. Will do some color commentary.
It’s almost game day. Time to get hyped!! Where’s Flava Flav when you need him. “Ha haaaaa Yeaaaaaaaaah Boiyeeeeee!!
BTW Defenders,I saved the NYK/NJN game on my DVR and I’ve watched and noticed something peculiar.League Pass gave me the Nets broadcast but anyway Mark Jackson said Z-Bo and Crawford are LEGIT SCORERS.Who’da thunk it the way some people talk here and on other Knick forums and the MSM???????
Had to get some work done today. Missed out on some spirited discussions. No need to take sides there were valid points made in many directions. So I think the side I will take is civility. Our opinions are what make this blog go. So to shoot anyone down as crazy for thinking in a way that may be upstream of where others are can be construed as disrespectful and breaks down communication more than it promotes it. Be good to your brothers and respect their opinions as their own even if it is in stark contradiction to your way of thinking. My opinions are my own and I will defend them fiercely. Because to attack the individual is still an attack and when you’re attacked you defend, retreat or attack back.
There was a lot of back and forth regarding being right or seeing things clearly. I know that the tempers here are temporary, but I would hate to see the relationships being forged here damaged over whether Eddy can rebound or whether Crawford should come off of the bench. Awright awright I can already hear the “f ewe’s” coming. So as grandma used to say, “You kids play nice.”
All that being said, trolls are fair game and their opinions are not their own so it is both logical and rational to rip their azzes for coming in here talking their stupid troll shi+.
Just Bloggin’
States at #450. Something we agree own, plus the Peace and Blessings.
Also, I apologize to all the mental health professionals who may have construed my comment as diminishing their value. Your service is valuable, but my mother’s common sense had a bunch of you beat in evaluating people. RIP.

(More LOL, but that ain’t so funny).

Defenders, Marbury is sitting for the season. We knew it here first, before the MSM.
WIth a combination of inside information and fanatic savvy, it was clear to us that Marbury was on his way out, at least temporarily.
One reason we knew this is that we now understand the general rule for forecasting major Knick Personnel moves, under the Dolan administration, is that “Marketing Moves Proceed Personnel Moves.” For the Dolan, Mills and Thomas team, the Knicks are a product and they tend to telegraph their moves in cryptic statements and actions which the press consistently fail to interpret accurately.
I would suggest, in retrospect, that over the past couple of days Isiah has been advising us of his strategy regarding Stephon. Stephon has also been informing us (as Peace pointed out) that his people and their people have come to a temporary meeting of the minds regarding Stephon’s role with the Knicks. It appears that strategy involves using Marbury’s expiring contract to get under the cap. I guess if they ever intend to trade him, it would need to be for a high quality return or another expiring contract. I would need to do more research to be more specific, but I think the general strategy is clear from their statements.
Side note: The Knicks seem to move a little slower in making adjustments on their website before major personnel moves. For example, the title streamer still runs Stephon Marbury and has not changed to include Zach Randolph.
Another side note: They have been promoting Jamal Crawford quite a bit, so despite the trade rumors, it is highly, highly unlikely that Crawford is going anywhere for anybody but Kobe or LeBron.
DVJ, are we going to be financially able to pick up LeBron when he hits the market?
Morning Lives….
We should be under the cap by then I THINK.
As long as we’re under cap we can sign him to whatever he wants.
If we’re not it might have to be a sign and trade.
He can also take the MLE (which they were talking about on a Cleveland PRogram) and he
could make just as much as a max contract with his endorsements….probably even more!!
There is a possibility there.
We all know he loves NY…..
Wade is also free that off season…..
Think we can snatch both? LOL
You know their best friends…..
