t-shirt maker not very clever beyond slogan
January 13, 2008 – 1:58 amMaybe this is old news you guys, but I’ll include it here because most of us don’t read NY Daily News on a regular basis. So you know the kid who wants to fund the remainder of his college education on the recent failures of the knicks organization? Cash is his name, as in cash-in. Yeah, he got arrested for intending to sell his “hate the coach” t-shirts out in front of MSG before knicks home games. Welcome to the real world kid, because if you’re smart ass enough to come up with a t-shirt that encourages hatred of any individual, you should first realize the person you’re targeting has a media-paranoid boss named James Dolan who has very powerful connections throughout NYC. You’re a senior in college trying to cash in on Knicks fans’ collective misery. I don’t feel sorry for the kid because the arrest probably helped his cause in the long run with the publicity.
I am not happy about much of what has been going on with the knicks this year, or last year, or the year before it, but I would have respected this kid just a little if he had shown the slightest knowledge or indication of being a basketball fan, not to mention a knicks fan. From all I can tell he’s just a hipster riding the L train over from Bedford Ave and he doesn’t know a basketball hoop from a hole in the ground.
Like Ice-T says on his album The Iceburg, “Freedom of speech… just watch what you say.” And might I add, where you say it.
More Isiah Thomas haterade. But what, if anything can Jim Dolan do to stop stupid songs from being crafted and put up on youtube? He might try to block youtube access to his cable Internet customers, though I doubt he could ever go so far. China does.
Also, when I watched that three chord song, I came across this, an old TV clip of Fresh Prince where Will falls asleep and dreams he is playing Isiah one-on-one. What do you think, should we ask Will Smith to practice with the team like Roy Jones Jr did a few weeks ago?
