Pistons @ Knicks
January 13, 2008 – 8:04 amcheck the previous post for the coupon code if you still want to go.
the last game against the raptors was just an old-fashioned ass-kicking. it wasn’t substitution patterns, it was just chris bosh having his way with whomever the knicks assigned to guard him. the good thing was they played balkman more than two seconds. the bad thing was, it didn’t matter.
it is no surprise that the pistons have been playing good ball, and in some ways they are the antithesis of this knicks team, however I still think stephon marbury is a better player than chauncey billups. I remember chauncey’s reputation around the league before his championship run with detroit, and public perception of him radically changed once he got the ring. i’m not saying he didn’t earn the ring or deserve the ring, because he was the leader for that team, but still, it is a little sad that steph hasn’t had any success with the knicks despite being a talented basketball player.
zach is publicly unhappy with the way isiah is using him, eddy curry probably is too.

REPOST REPOST REPOST
Isiah was defiant yesterday when BEAT reporters posed to Zeke the question of his possible dismissal by James Dolan.
Although I wouldn’t put Dolan axing Thomas outside of the range of possibility, the following blurb from that article tells me a bit about the quality of “reporting” that comes out of the tabloid style Daily Snooze, and Roast.
‘The Daily News, citing an anonymous source, reported Saturday that Dolan was in fact “preparing” to fire Thomas and could do so before the end of the season.
That report was contradicted by Barry Watkins, the Garden’s senior vice president for communications, who described the situation as “status quo.” Watkins said that nothing had changed since Dec. 8.
Thomas said he did not need a public statement of support. “I think the fact that there hasn’t been a change has let you know that,” he said. “When Mr. Dolan wants to do something, he does it.”
Another article, in The New York Post, reported that Thomas was considering whether to give up his coaching post and retreat to his position as team president.
“That was just a flat-out lie,” Thomas said. “I would never, ever, ever quit. Ever.”’
I don’t know if I should interpret Thomas’s defiance as a sign of moxy or as a tiding of even more bad news for our moribund Knicks franchise?
Also seems like some decent background reporting was done at the Daily News regarding the topic of losing cycles with the Knicks in the Big Apple.
With regards to the back and forth about Mebury, I think he our best all around gaurd, who has failed to provide the leadership, example setting, and guidance the Knicks have sorely lacked. The Phoenix blow-up with Isiah where just falling in line and leading by example might have lessened the team’s malaise but where instead Marbury added more drama division and fuel for the NY Sports Drama mill did nothing to help my opinion of Marbury.

Hey DVJ you’re giving the Knicks too much credit.

Hey to the Defenders who are more attuned to the College game… could any of you perhaps provide us pure NBA heads with more articles regarding players you believe could help the Knicks for this upcoming draft. Make your arguments as to which NEED the player will be able to fill, and whether the player will either be an impact player or a development project-assuming we have an early 2nd round pick who could develop to fill a Need somewhere down the line.
KnicksD
Since we most of us recognize that this season is basically lost, do you think the aformentioned would be a good topic for a forum thread. Another Idea I have is doing a forum of possible coaching replacements, whith Isiah as GM, and GM Coaching replacements should Isiah be axed.
Good day to all defenders

Davonn could be right. We might even win. Might be a close game. Nothing would
surprise me any more with this current Knick team!

Black and Blue…
IF we get the first pick in the draft this year, we should
and would pick Beasley. Any team with the 1st pick will take him.
Doesn’t matter if they need a PF or not. The kid is a superstar!!
He rebounds, scores, has a 3 point shot….he’s one of those players
that play like they are men playing amongst children and he’s one of
them. There are 2 PG’s that seperate themselves from the rest.
Mayo and Rose!!
Rose will be a good player and he’ll be able to lead your team.
Mayo can do the same but he gives you that future superstar also.
Mayo can also play the shooting guard almost as well as he plays the
PG!!! Being 6 foot 6 doesn’t hurt either compared to Rose who is (a generous) 6 foot 3.
Those are the top 3 projected picks but some people have that kid Gordon from Indiana
going before Mayo. Gordon gives you scoring, scoring and more scoring. He’s averaging
like 24 a game. He’s 6 foot 3 so that might come back to bite him in the ass.

DVJ
I hear you. So if things hold firm and we land the 3rd spot what do you think would be our chance of getting Beasely?
Do you think if we could get Mayo we could then get into position to trade Z-Bo or Curry?
Are there any players that we have that might fill a need on another roster that is looking to either sure up their spot for the playoffs or looking to advance a bit further in the playoff?
I ask this b/c I wonder if we could a mid to late 1rst rounder in the process.
Also how’s Beasly physically speaking, is he 6-10 or taller?
Is he a solid shot blocker?
Last question, any players you spot that you think the knicks could use to fill a need if he’s given time to develop– like a late round steal sort of player.

Good AM DEFENDERS! Today is a Day of Worship for some, and for those who will participate in the collective process, please say a prayer for your fellow DEFENDERS. And, before I DIP, I want leave a little something, something, on the THREAD for those that seek solice and peace in their respective spiritual closets.
Also DEFENDERS, I have to share this with all of you. I had the opporutnity to meet HARLEM IN MD and his SONS on yesterday, and he has a BEAUTIFUL FAMILY. Also, don’t believe for on second that HARLEM is a Fake Gangster. He is the Real Deal and the Truest of G’S. A GOOD MAN! A TRUE GENTLEMAN! A GREAT FATHER!
As for our beloved KNICKS, Defenders we have beat to death all of the many things wrong with this TEAM, and we could probably find a whole lot more. But, it is obvious but their play these PLAYERES don’t WANT IT MORE THAN WE DO. We are merely, LOYAL FANS, who desparately want this Franchise to Regain some level Respectability and Competitiveness. It is clear to me we have a collection of OVER PAID, HEARTLESS, and SELFISH PLAYERS, COACHES, and MANAGEMENT. I was one who piced the Knicks to Win 50 games on the button, I was wrong and obviously misread my Mama’s Tea Leaves… I can live with my prediction (in hind sight it bordered on the absurd…LOL LOL) and MY FANSHIP WILL NEVER WAIVER, but THESE GUYS have turn this SEASON into a major SOAP OPERA and it is difficult to watch and even harder to swallow as a DIE HARD KNICK FAN FOR LIFE. “AS THE KNICKS TURN,” is what this called LIVES, and you gotta laugh at the Bull Shyt to keep from saying WTF…Have a Sunday Defenders and The FORCE MD”S will let you share in the MIRACLE ON 7th STREET, NW, next Friday. If it is half the blast of yesterday’s miracle, their posts should be classics…
Today’s Quote
Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life.
Today’s Scripture
“Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you” (Proverbs 4:25).
Today’s Word
What are you looking at today? I don’t mean in the natural, but in the spiritual. What is in the forefront of your mind and heart? Are you constantly dwelling on your problems, or things that have happened in your past? In the natural, you will move in the direction that your eyes are looking. In the spiritual, it works the same way. Whatever you focus your mind and heart on, you will move towards. That’s why this verse tells us to look straight ahead. If you are constantly dwelling on your problems, or things in your past, wondering “what if” then you will stay right where you are. But if you choose to forgive and release the past then you can focus on what is ahead of you and you’ll begin to move forward. God doesn’t want you to live in the past. He wants you to meditate on His goodness and believe His promises so that you can keep growing. God is a creative God and He has designed a wonderful future for you. Look straight ahead so you can see it and move forward into the life of victory God has promised!
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, today I set my focus on You. I choose to forget the past by forgiving others so that I can look straight ahead to Your promises. I ask that You direct my heart on the path of life that You have for me. Amen.
I’m Audi for A While!
Keep it POPPIN!

“So if things hold firm and we land the 3rd spot what do you think would be our chance of getting Beasely?”
None..he will most def be gone with the 1st pick. He won’t make it to the 2nd pick.
“Do you think if we could get Mayo we could then get into position to trade Z-Bo or Curry?”
We’re in position to trade them now. We just have to find the right teams to take him. If we get
Mayo, we don’t want to pair him with either Zach or Curry for a trade. We want to keep Mayo. We can
interchage Mayo and Nate at the 1 and 2 spots. Remember Mayo is 6′5 - 6′6 so he can play the SG with ease.
We should try to trade Z-Bo and Curry now. Why wait? We all know it needs to happen. Only thing I can think
of is that Isiah is waiting to see if he can use them in a blockbuster. Say for a LBJ, Wade, Kobe or something
like that. Don’t forget about Arenas. It all depends on how he comes back from injury.
“Are there any players that we have that might fill a need on another roster that is looking to either sure up their spot for the playoffs or looking to advance a bit further in the playoff?”
That’s a tough one bro. There’s a reason why people say the only players on our team with value are Lee, Nate and maybe, MAYBE Z-Bo and Balkman.
Everybody else is stuck here…..translation…..we as fans are f*cked with no vaseline.
“I ask this b/c I wonder if we could a mid to late 1rst rounder in the process.”
If we can make that kind of deal and hold onto Lee and Nate…I’m all for it.
I don’t want to include them in any deal. Right now, I don’t want to make any moves. I want
Stephs and Rose’s contract to come off the books. I want to rebuild through the draft.
That’s what the new GM is going to do. If we can land Jerry West like the papers are suggesting, that
would bolster our shots at landing a superstar through trades. (Kobe or Lebron)
The big question is do us as fans have the patience to deal with a rebuilding stage?
“Also how’s Beasly physically speaking, is he 6-10 or taller?”
He’s 6 foot 9 and he does it all.
“any players you spot that you think the knicks could use to fill a need if he’s given time to develop– like a late round steal sort of player.”
I think that kid Budinger from Arizona will be a steal if he goes anywhere after the 10th pick.
I think Peacemans boy Handbrough may be the steal of the draft. Especially if he goes anywhere after the 10th pick as well.
That kid is David Lee on steroids!!
Only thing is, he can’t finish around the rim like Lee and he can’t get up like Lee.
All those lay ups Hansbrough does around the rim were dunks for Lee when he was at Florida.

REPOST REPOST REPOST WITH MINOR EDIT
Statesmen, Modi,
You guys seem stuck on evaluating Marbury favorably without looking at the entire package. Last year Marbury made me a believer because he did all the things he needed to do to win. Although the Knicks won only 33 games, he played excellent defense and did his best job to date as an overall player. This year I was a believer until it was clear that your favorite Knick point guard is a 2007-08 deceiver.
With all due respect the notion that Marbury should be able to dictate how he is best used is as ridiculous as Curry dictating how he should be used. What shooting point guard in this league is dominating the ball, charged with distributing the ball and taking his team to the Chip? Steve Nash (12ast, 17ppg)? (Marbury is not Steve Nash and Steve Nash doesn’t have a Chip appearance while his former team does.) What point guard as Marbury has described himself has done that? Nada. None. Zip. Marbury is teasing you because he has great talent including the ability to dominate the game. But this year, while Marbury may still have the talent, he has done absolutely nothing to demonstrate the leadership and team-focused comraderie needed to lead a team to victory. No matter how many lap dances one does for Marbury, you will not make those qualities stand up or even appear. One can ignore them, but they are an essential component to determining the overall utility and effectiveness of the player.
States, probably tongue in cheek (his own not Marbury’s), talked about hedging when I stated that I would take a Marbury both mentally healthy and physically intuned anytime, whereas he would just take Marbury regardless of his mental health or status. No need to call that notion for what it is. But I will suggest that to indicate that Marbury has a clue about how he should be used is laughable and to suggest that any GM should build their team around Marbury’s talent is certainly one approach (one I would not follow at this point). But I would agree with the GM who would see that Marbury is only one of 15 players with a unique skill set and a commone mindset. The other approach which makes more sense from a GM perspective is to build with him and not around him. Of course, that means developing an inside-out game with other capabilities is not a bad idea if your team buys into it. Most of the time Stephon has demonstrated that he wants to be used as he wants to be used — is that a coachable player in the long run?
“I’m paid to be a shooting guard.” Bullshyte. He’s paid to use his talents to help the team win, period. Did his contract say, “Marbury will be primarily used as a shooting guard from the point guard position, clause 105 (Non-position shifting clause) nothwithstanding?
Did Marbury come with a “Buyer Beware” sign attached? “Oh, Mr. GM, check the fine print I intend to only perform well when you start me. let me dominate the ball and allow me to shoot like I did when I was a kid and when they were talking about me in relation to the “Big O” I’m a great player but I don’t function well when I am asked to make mental adjustments.” Garbage. Why be nice about it. Just garbage.
I understand the support of Marbury, because him playing like last year or being traded is the Knicks only hope of winning anything. Well that train has left the station. Marbury is not prepared to do anything for anybody but be disruptive and destructive. Peace claims that Marbury couldn’t convince a jury of Ghandi’s peers that he is seeking communion with holiness; more like he would be found guilty o being holier than thou. Funny, but I don’t see any evidence to the contrary.
Yes, everybody must take blame for this situation. And yes, losijng breeds contempt, but for you guys to talk about Marbury like he is saying something that is meaningful for the correction of the Knicks is laughable not laudable. In my mind he can only say two things that would improve the Knicks: “Goodbye” or “I’m ready to serve.”
Build the roster around Marbury. Pipe dreaming or pipe huffing. You pick.

The clip in #7 goes from funny, to sad, to depressing to down right not true. We have a decent team that isn’t working hard enough to reach their potential. This might be from poor morale, weak leadership, despicable coaching, ill advised management or a lack of general heart or support.
I believe confidence, hope, strategy and teamwork can pull them out of the slump and help save them from continuing to be the laughing stock they’ve become. There are a lot of us with love for them, still rooting for them. I hope they know that, feel that, and act from that — if not for themselves, then for us.
By Edward on Jan 13, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Well said in #11 Lives!
I must add that Marbury’s skill has diminished. I’m sure I’ll hear about his dad and
many more excuses to follow, but the fact is he can no longer finish the break the way he did
even last year! Last year some of the same people blamed Franchise for Marbury’s play, well Stevie
is gone and Marbury sucks worse. Must feel good not to have a three time all star one step away from
taking over your spot!!!!!!

Welcome to KnicksDefense, an oasis for the Die Hard Knicks fan. Those of us for which being a Knick’s fan is more than the privilege of corporate rewards package the latest in thing, or a gimmick to turn another dime- fuck you Ivan Cash.
DVJ
Thanks for getting back to me on my questions…
Here are my replies
“translation…..we as fans are f*cked with no vaseline.”
LOL man.
My impression from your responses is that we would be better served by playing for the draft.
I can’t say that I disagree, and I am generally one of the more optimistic bloggers here.
At this stage, will a miracle turnaround, hide what appears to be a downward spiral of bad coaching questionable GMing, organizational inaccountability, which at this point, IMHO, begins with Dolan and Isiah, and has spread to certain Knick players whom we all should know by now.
That is why I believe if we’re going to loose, then we ought to lose in a way that kills several birds with one stone.
You guys are free to throw hit me with the proverbial, “you’ve lost your mind” but I think at this juncture, we should set the stage for the draft, for the development of our young players.
I mentioned it on a prior thread that we should: 1) Send our rooks and our young players riding the pine to the NBADL; 2) play our overpriced guys heavy minutes to use this time untill the trading deadline to shop them– before the trade deadline or for the upcoming season when they’re salaries will benefit us; 3) Bring back our rooks and young guys to play either a combination of heavier minutes, designated roles, or starting spots for the purpose of developing them for the long term or for trade possibilities.
Can this happen is Isiah is still here as coach? As GM? I personally don’t think so, he right now with the coaching GM joint titles is really trying to cover up his own mistakes. That’s just my opinion.
What do you think DVJ?
If were going to lose lets loose to get a better draft pick, develop Chandler, Morris, and whomever has not gotten the necessary minutes to develop and etc.
Moreover, if Isiah might be gone we sure as heck better get a quality GM who will not fuck up on the Draft, or do you think we keep Isiah just for that– as a consultant or GM.

‘Lives’ & Lies,
‘Lives’, is Steph as good as Nash? No. Is Steph as good as Chris Paul? No. Did I ever put Steph in their class? No!!
Is Steph the best guard on THIS team? Yes!!
‘Lives’ my support of Steph is based on the Knicks CURRENT roster. Please do not DISTORT my opinion in an attempt
to Prove a HALF-HEARTED POSSITION that you took. If Steph is in his right mind…,Yes get Artest if he is in his
Right Mind. Get Shaq if he can play as he did 5-years ago.
‘Lives’ it is apparent to everyone that Crawful has been given the light to play anyway he chooses, (WILD SHOTS,
ISOLATIONS, ILL-TIMED TURNOVERS & TERRIBLE DECISION MAKING) at the expense of Steph. As was reported last week , Crawful is
Zeke’s Pet, and I say everyone else suffers. There is a REASON why he is the only Starter to never have his STATUS questioned.
W/ Crawful & Steph, Steph usually guards the best Offensive opponent,(exerting a lot of energy). Steph has to curtail his dribble
drive because Crawful is in poor Defensive position when Isolating, & therefore he has to keep floor balance.
Crawful’s line the other night Summed His Career as a Knick & in the NBA. 24pts,6-turnovers, o-assist(check),
0-free throws & 2-9 from 3 pt land. YES!!!! Playing w/ Crawful & Eddy has hurt Steph’s game the most. If Steph was Allowed to
play w/ Jones or Mardy from last year, the KNICKS would be so much better. Even now Steph is playing a more MATURE game then
Crawful and the other guards.
‘Lives, You, Zeke, & Anti-,are the only people that I am aware of that believes Crawful should be given the KEYS to a team.
Crawful is a Back-Court version of Eddy. He doesn’t play D, he doesn’t get his team involved, and he only GENERATES points
for himself and Eddy. And ‘Lives’ there is a REASON why he has never been to the Playoffs or Played on a team that has
won 40-games.
Now if the Knicks were WINNING, then Steph would be out of place, but when you have this RECORD, everyone knows changes will
be made. Steph is looking out for himself, just as everyone else. How could Eddy @ 5-Rebounds/game, 0-DEE, say
“I don’t know why I’m not starting”. Q has the audacity to complain, Malik asking to be traded. Steph and the Knicks issues are
what happens on bad teams w/ veteran players.
In summary I do believe that the Knicks would be a better team playing an UP-TEMPO game, w/ the ball in Step’s hand, and a starting five of
Steph, Jones, Lee, Zach, & Balk/JJeff.
Peace & Blessings

Hey does anyone think that the Knicks could use the concentration techniques that the Clippers Chris Kaman has employed to improve his on the court performance this year?
By Black and Blue on Jan 13, 2008 at 2:34 pm
Who’s Lies, Miss-Statement?
Don’t get my statement confused brotherman. My statement wasn’t half-hearted, your interpretation is just a poor effort to dodge and misshape what I said. You know better and clearly all this losing gives you nothing better to do than re-construe my statements.
First, whether you said Marbury was Nash, Paul, Williams, etc. was not the point. I, as in Me, said that Marbury is not Nash. I didn’t say you said Marbury was Nash. I also said, and this is the key point, that anyone who believes that Mebury should dictate what his role is, is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. WRONG.
You also crack me up with the effort to characterize my position by calling it half-hearted to give yourself something to argue about. O’k, this season is boring the fuck outta me, so I’ll play along for now.
You crack me up because you have the audacity to call a nuanced argument half-hearted. SO according to you, a strong argument would be “Marbury ain’t shyte” as opposed to “Marbury ain’t shyte when his mind is messed up.” HaHaHaHa. O’k nevermind, my argument is half-hearted and it still is more correct than your unreasoned support of Marbury as the best guard on the Knicks no matter what. I suggest that a mentally messed up, incompetent, idiotic or otherwise im,paired Marbury is useless. I further suggest that a Marbury in that mental state is not the best guard for the team.
But bear with me, because I go jujitsu on you with a little bit of nuance: If Marbury is in his right mind, he is the best guard on the team. Got it.
Now the next question is, “Is Marbury In his right mind?”
Your summary was actually an added statement, but we happen to agree on that “summary” so I can’t go jiggy on that one, but I think I said that a while ago. So if you didn’t call me “Lies”, I didn’t call you Miss-Statement. Otherwise, don’t take my comment as half-hearted (LOL).
PEACE.
LGK.

By Peaceman on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:13 pm
B&B you may be right. isiah doesn’t want to change the lineup in favor of the kids.
look at tonight. steph’s out, an opportunity for nate to get in there and cause damage from the beginning, but isiah goes with fred jones, who hasn’t impressed me at all this year.
and NO person on earth can justify WHY Quentin Ricardson is still starting when there are better options at the end of the bench in jeffries, renaldo and chandler.
so yeah, i expect us to be down early, until nate, lee and jeffries come in, and then maybe we’ll be down ten at the half if not more.
i’m not pyschic, this is just going on the trend of this season, refusal to change the lineup, subs get us back into the game. if there are any patterns, curry will pick up two fouls and pout his way to the bench, randolph will put his head down and force his shot amidst triple teams. q will continue to miss from all over the floor. the pistons will get uncontested shots from all over the floor.
just bloggin’
those isiah pregame interviews were very dissapointing. he thinks only two or three guys are worth keeping, but at the same time everyone is still untouchable and we’re not going to trade anybody at the training deadline.
isiah is making new enemies: his players. zach and curry are definitely at odds with isiah, as is stephon. he’s already made so many enemies in his life, Jordan, Ainge, Mchale, Bird, Larry Brown, Popovich, the ny media, nearly the entire city of new york (by blaming the fans for booing), just to name some. i don’t know if you want a GM who knows how to make so many enemies when you need friends to get good trades done (we should have got KG this year, not Boston) and he’s not making anything positive happen lately.
maybe tonight will start a change and help to turn this nightmare season around. it starts now.
curry lets mycdyess get the offensive put-back. 4-2 pistons. q misses his first shot.

once the forum is up you’ll be able to start any knicks thread you feel like…
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:16 pm
did yall just see Curry head back down court and the defensive rebound fall right in front of him?
Then on the next offensive play, he leads the team down court for the bunny.
That dude is a fat fuckin’ piece of work.
By Bronxboy in Md on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:17 pm
zach getting all the baskets for the knicks.
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:18 pm
curry missed both free throws but continues to catch the ball very close to the basket.
make em count curry
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:19 pm
Zach is aggressive tonight.
By Jay Bee on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:19 pm
it’s all zach so far.

What the hell is that on Crawford’s shoulder? Looks like a pack of cigarettes under his sleeve.
By Jay Bee on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:22 pm
Bronxboy,
Your right, some shit is brewing with steph! Zeke just slipped up in an interview,
saying “if Steph decides to play again.”
By Peaceman on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:24 pm
Q made a shot!!! Q made a Shot!!! Q made a shot!!!
By Peaceman on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:25 pm
Curry has actually been competing tonight. 14-13 Knicks with 3:24 left in the first.
By Jay Bee on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:26 pm
close game thus far, good sign.
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:27 pm
No 30+ point quarter to start the game is always a good sign. Knicks are challenging shots. not every shot of course, but defense is happening.
By Jay Bee on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:28 pm
Q finally goes to the oak. N8 is in Lee is in.
By Jay Bee on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:31 pm

let’s see q throw it down like jeffries just did.
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:37 pm
that stuff on crawford’s arm seems to grow with every game. starting to look like nfl shoulder pads out there.
renaldo’s in. weird. two games of daylight from the depths of the abyss.
block and dunk by balk!
yeah, start that kid.
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:39 pm
good job jeffries to get the jump ball
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:39 pm

Balkman is in the game now with the energizer unit.
N8
Craw
Balkman
Jeffries
Curry
NY 24 - DET 20
By Jay Bee on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:40 pm
The Giants played very passively on that last posession, three and out.
I hope they don’t find a way to lose this one. Don’t wanna hear my neighbor talkin’ shit.
By Bronxboy in Md on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Balkman is making Zeke look like a fool for not playing him.
By Jay Bee on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:41 pm
lil nate in there playing tough d
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:44 pm
nate is the best shooter on this team. better than crawford.
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:46 pm
Breen got it wrong. Curry switched wrong on a pick and roll leaving Maxiell going untouched to the hole until Robinson touched his azz almost getting the block. Then Robinson proceeded to get in Curry’s shi+. Curry was yelling back because he was embarassed. Good for N8. He’s really running the show well right now.
By Jay Bee on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:47 pm
balkman nice slashing move through the paint.

By Bronxboy in Md on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:54 pm
i didn’t think jeffries and balk would every play at the same time. seem to be working against the piston’s lineup so far.
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:55 pm
I don’t know any other way to say this other than to say it. Knicks by 11 with 4 minutes to go in the second quarter. 35-24
By Jay Bee on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:57 pm
NY 11 point lead? WTF???? Go NY!
By Peaceman on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:57 pm

By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 7:59 pm
Bad foul by Zach.
This team does not handle prosperity very well.
By Bronxboy in Md on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:02 pm
Rip made a Bonehead play! Good 4 us!
By Peaceman on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:03 pm
they should take out randolph and put lee back in. team plays as a team without zbo despite zbo being the best scorer on the knicks if not on the court.
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:04 pm
are the pistons high? why’d they hit nate on a three pointer at the buzzer?
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:05 pm
Know your opponent: Pistons won last night against Charlotte in overtime. Could explain the lethargic start.
By Jay Bee on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:06 pm
remeber when crawford used to be the best when the quarter was ending? i think this year nate is the guy we should give the ball to at the end…
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:07 pm
43-32 Knicks at the half.
By Jay Bee on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:09 pm
If Marbury was playing the Knicks would be up by 30.

By Bronxboy in Md on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:11 pm

I just called our insider. He just stated ” Marbury Fucked up…Again!”
He wouldn’t say anything more!
Detroit can’t get ” up ” for this Knick team! They have underestimated us so far!
The Knicks need to step it up in the second!!!!!

By DaVonn Jefferson on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:30 pm
this is just crazy.
i was not expecting this, but glad they’re winning big.
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:31 pm
Now who was that saying that Zach is an unwilling passer?
Unless my eyes deceive me, he’s been more than willing to give the rock up to someone with a BETTER shot than he has.
By Bronxboy in Md on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:31 pm
maybe we’ll see chandler play. maybe…
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:32 pm

I wonder what happened with him tonight, anyways???

Another Bonehead Piston play!
By Peaceman on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:44 pm
We’ve had this discussion ad nauseum, but I think it’s worth repeating…
Steph may well be the best guard on this team, but they don’t respond to him like they do when Craw and N8 are at the point.
It happens too often to pass off as happenstance.
By Bronxboy in Md on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:46 pm
I love that guy from Detroit who shoots those beautiful AIRBALLS!
By Peaceman on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:47 pm
And I also find it amazing how Zach had tread marks on him just the other day from being thrown under the bus, and now he’s King for a day.
I never saw him as the problem.
By Bronxboy in Md on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:47 pm
After the game we will find out how much more Steph has lost his Mind!
Modi and Statesman can’t help him this time!
By Peaceman on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:48 pm
I still say that Zach should have never dissed the coach in public!
By Peaceman on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:49 pm
I will reserve comment untill the game is over.
But in the meantime it was mentioned that the Pistons have played 4 games in 5 nights this being their 4th game.
Also the Pistons came of a double OT game yesterday against the Hornets.
So while, I’m glad that New York is up, they have to earn their respect in this league.
All that said lets go Knicks!
By Black and Blue on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:50 pm
Get Q out and Balkman and Chandler in!
By Peaceman on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:51 pm
In Isiah’s pregame comments he said something to the effect of “If he feels like plating tonight” in regards to Marbury.
By Jay Bee on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Q is such a little bitch….he’s passin’ up open shots late in the shot clock so as not to affect his already putrid field goal percentage.
By Bronxboy in Md on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Balk and 1!!!!
By Peaceman on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:52 pm
Their is a saying that when one points a finger, Isiah at Zach, Marbury at Isiah, several other fingers point back at you!
It was the knicks in a nutshell.
ALright Go BALKMAN!
By Black and Blue on Jan 13, 2008 at 8:53 pm
You see the Pistons put in a fresh guy and the guy hits a shot. The Pistons are drained. But give credit to the Knicks for taking advantage of the situation.

By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:00 pm

What would be the score w/ Artest? Could he handle the losing?
Remember Balk, and the other Energy guys are playing tonight.

Artest would make tonight a nightly thing though! LOL
By Peaceman on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:05 pm
Re: #128 - Cosign. I saw that too. He knows he has no shot so he passes up every time he has a three. Although it is possible he has been given the red light by the coach.
By Jay Bee on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:05 pm
I think Morris is being punished, or relieved depending on how you see it, by Isiah b/c he called Zeke a dumbass for putting Z-Bo and Curry in despite it backfiring throughout most of the season.
By Black and Blue on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:06 pm

bad shot renaldo. i see he still wants to take those three’s.
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:15 pm
good win for the knicks tonight.
they mentioned the triple overtime game last season, guess we like to play this team. whoever gets the 7th seed in the playoffs will have that opportunity.
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:16 pm
Ronaldo has to start with his offense by shoring up his mid range shot.
Speak of the Tazmanian devil he just lured a piston into a charging violation.
By Black and Blue on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:17 pm
renaldo is definitely taz. plays like a madman.
By knicksdefense on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:17 pm

By Lives In New Jersey, Loves New York on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:20 pm
Yeah the Knicks need a madman on the floor to wreak some havoc on the opposing teams offense.
By Black and Blue on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:20 pm
Still I can only hope the Knicks get some positive out of this despite the Pistons playing the 4th game in 5 nights.
Or will this event be like an oasis in the desert of the Knicks season?
By Black and Blue on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:21 pm
Forget about 4 games in five nights…the Knicks won this game,
Detroit got Blasted! The knick ball movement was incredible!!!
We weren’t down double didgets when the energy guys came in!
By Peaceman on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Peaceman
I’m not trying to take anything away from the Knicks they took advantage of the Pistons lethargy. But again you are correct about the passing game today. We don’t see enough of that, especially when things go south for the team.
By Black and Blue on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Zeke just said he didn’t know Marbury wasn’t on the bench?
But he knew he was in the locker room????? WTF?
By Peaceman on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:35 pm
I like the last part of Isiah’s post game speech.
The part about that the players need to realize that while they may not always be the direct reason why the team wins they can always be a contributor.
Basically stressing, trust, passing, effort, all components of team play!
By Black and Blue on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:38 pm
I wonder what’s the beef between Zeke and Mebury tonight.
By Black and Blue on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:40 pm

Just trying to cover bases here… just blogging in case something is going down with Steph!

Black & B,
Yea, man—these Knicks are heartbreakers and as your name is relevant—they’re abusive at that! For every good win there’s 5 or 6 losses; how should I root for team like this?!!?
Come draft nite—we can root for a number one pick—if Miami don’t get it(those bums).
Still a Knicks fan but these Giants are and were showing the kind of attitude through their whole season, showing that they got plenty of heart, more than the Knicks. And they get paid less as a team, than the Knicks!!!
Knicks should watch the Giants and take studious notes!!!!
I tookl a few peeks at the Knicks game though, and recording the Knicks in 60 for a nice impact. A good win—just not enough this year—like you name implies I’m Black and Blue as well - or Anti-NYKnicksLosing.
By Anti-NYSportsNews on Jan 13, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Trautwig and Crispino didn’t want to go there with Marbury!
They just said Zeke gave a cryptic message pre and post game about Steph! Crispino saw Steph leave
the building without limping???? Tomorrow should be interesting!

– Nice to see Renaldo freed again! I loved seeing hustlers Nate, Renaldo, Jeffries, and Lee on the court at the same time.
– As far as future goes, I don’t know what to take away since Pistons played 4 in 5 nights and really looked awful(sorry Peace!)

Randolph Morris must really suck to not sniff any PT - let’s just forget about him, i’m sure just as soon as you can say “Qyntel Woods”…..POOF he’ll be gone and forgotten.

Well here is a nice little conversation piece about acquiring the pacers PG Jamal Tinsley.
“The Knicks need a point guard. A lot of teams do, but the Knicks really do—they’re stuck with Stephon Marbury, and he should be a shooting guard. Jamal Crawford is a sixth-man shooter.
As Houston’s Rafer Alston, a shooting point guard from New York, noted last week: “They need a floor general. Right now they have score-first guards. Some nights in the Knicks’ box score, the guards only have two, three assists.” I’m not sure it would be a great idea as New Yorkers returning home often hasn’t worked. But it appears the Pacers are done with Jamaal Tinsley and are about to make some moves.
Travis Diener replaced Tinsley over the weekend, and while Tinsley had been having something of a revival season with Rick Carlisle gone, he probably cinched his exit last week.
The Pacers were playing the Suns tough in Phoenix, taking them to overtime. But Tinsley missed eight shots in the fourth quarter and still took 10 of the team’s 11 shots in overtime.
A package including an activity player like Renaldo Balkman or Mardy Collins and an expiring contract ought to be enough for the Knicks to get him.”
Also Boils Berman’s article today suggest more is a brewing with the absence of Stephon Marbury.
“Despite the rare win that places them at a wretched 10-26, Thomas’ relationship with his players continues to deteriorate as Thomas’ and Marbury’s status become murkier.
The players seemed confused, too.
“When I came in, his jersey wasn’t over there,” Eddy Curry said. “I don’t know, but I’m sure it’s got to be something, though.”
After Friday’s loss to Toronto, Marbury revisited his reduced role with reporters but stopped short of ripping Thomas. Their relationship became irreparably damaged in November when he bolted Phoenix after learning he might be benched.
Thomas probably didn’t appreciate Marbury using the word “passive” in his diatribe as his patience with his players is growing thin.”
