Raptors visit Knicks
January 11, 2008 – 12:05 amHopefully the New York Knicks can bounce back from the Rockets loss and pick up a win today when they host the Toronto Raptors.
-Coupon Codes for Detroit Game on Sunday 7:00pm MSG-
I just checked this out and as of right now it still works:
Use the code DET when purchasing tickets and get $60.50 tickets for $35 and $44.50 tickets for $25. These specially priced tickets are limited so act now.

Saw this on the subway a few weeks ago. I was going to jack it but there were too many people in the car. The dude next to me was staring at it just like I was, probably thinking the same thing: I wonder why they even bothered to put renaldo on there. He gets more PT in the ads than at the Garden.

Yo KnicksD
I’m sorryyyy…sooo sorryyyy…
I forget how sensitive you can be and personal you can take things. I have to remember to mind the audience when I crack a joke. My bad.
Keep in mind that this is your house. I’m the guy who brings over a case of beer and drink one or two. Drop 3 fresh rotisserie chickens from the asian spot around the way and have a leg. I’d rather pinch you on your bum, tell you how sweet you look in your new apron and call you cutiepie before I’d disrespect you or your girl.
If the post still bothers you I suggest you read it over again until you realize how the sentence is more about Mitch and his grill than it is about you, your girl or your opinion.
I know your blaming Isiah opinion wasn’t original. Berman said it. Mitch said it. Breen mentioned it during the broadcast. Clyde even agreed. Its okay to have a differing opinion.
But you know what else is okay? Me making fun of you for sharing an opinion with them. Because that is my opinion.
Again. I apologize for anything you may have taken personal.
But I didn’t start none…so there won’t be none.
The drama that could have been would’ve been interesting…but I didn’t intend the joke to be taken as seriously as it was.
This, to me, is like bullshitting with my brothers. I’ll slap you on the ass and call you a bitch ass and I expect the same in return.
But damn…crack a joke. Tease me. Touch me. Feel me. Ewwwww….
no kissy kissy.
Now, after writing all this, I forgot the basketball related stuff I was gonna write down. Its too late. I’ll be back in the morning.
PEACE!!!
Harlem…that was foul trying to instigate the beef. I’m down with AF man…greens…just veggies.

Worth Repeating!!!!
Rafer Alston Evaluates The Knicks Major Problem Before Beating Them
They have some good guards, but they need a floor general,” Alston said last night before the Rockets beat the Knicks, 101-92. “. . . It’s like us. We play inside-out, so now what better shot do you have? Instead of your guards going one-on-one all the time, now your guards get wide-open looks from the double-team. I think they’re not understanding that.”
Every guard the Knicks put on the floor is a score-first guard, with the exception of Mardy Collins, who is a never-scores guard. Alston, who was certain he was getting traded last summer only to impress Rockets coach Rick Adelman in training camp, seemed eager to show the Knicks what a point guard is supposed to do.
“Each night you see the Knicks’ box score and the guards only have two or three assists,” Alston said. “… Where’s the ball going?”
That’s easier said than done, even for the guy saying it. Not long after calling himself a “classic throwback guard” who looks to get his teammates involved, Alston stepped onto the Garden court and started launching shots like Jamal Crawford. But you get his point.
Plus, Alston settled down and ran the team the way the Knicks only hoped they had someone to run theirs, finishing with 20 points, eights assists, six rebounds and two steals.
“A lot of teams have had success with score-first guards,” Alston said. “But I think a lot of coaches are starting to see that they need that old throwback point guard, a guy who’s going to come in and run your show.
“People overlook the importance of a guy like Mark Jackson or Avery Johnson. A lot of kids don’t look at those players. They don’t stand out to them. But they help you win games in this league.”
That is what the Knicks need, with the most realistic opportunity to find one looming at the end of June when they exercise what almost certainly will be a high lottery pick. By all accounts, Derrick Rose of Memphis can do those things.
In the meantime, the Knicks need a caretaker - a ball-moving, pass-first point guard who can get the team playing the way it will need to play when the point guard of the future arrives. Why?
“You can’t throw the ball to Zach Randolph 28 feet from the basket,” Alston said. “You’ve got to understand who you’re playing with. You can’t run a catch-and-shoot with Jared Jeffries. You just can’t do that. You’ve got to understand what’s going on.”

Lives,
Everybody sees it. It aint new news or anything. Zeke is the only one denying the problems on this team. It’s obvious to anyone else w/ a pair of eyes.
According to rumor central on ESPN (which for some reason is free tday), Zeke shot down the Zach to Milwaukee rumors tday.

Willis Reed, the only Knick NBA MVP, in the Post,
“I know that New York is not an easy place to play,” he said. “You better have tough skin, thick skin, around here. We had some bad teams, too, and we got booed, before we got good. So my advice to the players is, don’t read the paper. Stay focused on doing what you can do as a player(Eddie!!!!Zack!!!!) to make your team better.”
What he said sounds about right!Let’s defend the three point line and cook some Canadian bacon!LGK

Gotta get my two cents in the Barf/Blogzilla squabble.
Blogzilla:
You took that post too personal.
You should be last one to start the “fuck you” on this site. You’re the host, so you of all people should be the last to start that language on here.
If you start snorting lines in front of your kids, your guests would do the same, then what would you say?
You should be above that.
For the record, I didn’t agree with your take on the ejection, so I left it alone.
I thought you were too hard on Zeke, but then you came back with statements about folks being Zeke’s family and cousins and other stuff. Not cool.
Reading Mitch Lawrences’ piece and yours, you were even harder than Mitch, and that’s saying a lot, given the way we all know Mitch hates Zeke. Now as it turns out, the league felt that the referee was the one that created the contact. Barf was right on point.
We all have our opinions, you of all people should respect that. That’s what makes this site jump.
I remember you had a similar short fuse with Statesman in similar circumstances.
I also remember a certain blog host getting a little snappy with his guests, and we all know the result of that one.
Blogzilla, chill. Folks on here have their opinions, and are entitled to it.
You’re not immune from criticism just like the other guy.
That’s my opinion of course.

I BLAME ISIAH THOMAS. If Isiah had not been thrown out of the game, then the Knicks would have won,

How real is this?
NBA Grants Protest Filed By Miami
January 11, 2008 - 4:43 pm
RealGM Staff Report -
The NBA today granted a game protest filed by the Miami Heat after its 117-111 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on December 19 at Philips Arena, which will result in the replay of the final 51.9 seconds of the game’s overtime period with the Hawks leading 114-111. The replay will occur immediately prior to the next scheduled game between the two teams — on March 8, 2008, also at Philips Arena.
The Heat protested the game because, with 51.9 seconds remaining in overtime, the Hawks’ scoring table personnel incorrectly disqualified the Heat’s Shaquille O’Neal – asserting that a foul committed by O’Neal was his sixth foul of the game, when in fact it was only his fifth. The error occurred because the Hawks’ Official Scorer mistakenly attributed to O’Neal a foul at 3:24 remaining in the fourth period that was actually called against the Heat’s Udonis Haslem.
NBA Commissioner David Stern found that the Hawks were grossly negligent in committing this scoring error, since they failed to follow league-mandated scoring procedures and failed to respond effectively when the members of the statisticians’ crew noticed the mistake. Because of this conduct by Atlanta’s personnel, Miami suffered a clear competitive disadvantage, as O’Neal – the Heat’s second leading scorer and rebounder that night – was removed from a one-point game with only 51.9 seconds remaining. Under this unprecedented set of circumstances, the Commissioner granted the Heat’s protest, and fined the Hawks $50,000 for their violation of league rules.
The protest is the first granted by the NBA since December 14, 1982 when then-NBA Commissioner Larry O’Brien upheld a protest by the San Antonio Spurs concerning their 137-132 double overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Nov. 30. The Spurs and Lakers finished the game on April 13 with San Antonio collecting a 117-114 win.

“golom looking m’thaf’kas” -barf
which means mitch (whom we have often discussed…or disgust) looks like the troll from lord of the rings with his large forehead, eyes and little slit mouth and penchant for outlining isiah’s secretively evil ways.
a simple…”no, my girl finds mitch as repulsive as the underside of welfare collecting roach” would have sufficed and would have returned the comedic favor. (no offense af…um…huh?…what?…nevermind) especially knowing, as you said, that i donmt know what you look like. which i thought i implied by the way i wrote the punchline.
you’re entitled to respond in any way you want…cursing or not…humorous or not. either way, it doesn’t matter to me cuz you can’t make my tasteless joke mean something that i did not intend. i re-read it and don’t understand who u can misinterpret it…i’m still sorry you took it the way u did cuz i sense you still have a problem.
lives, i was gonna make a sly remark involving your chicagoan sis but i no longer trust my words to do me or my humor any justice. gotta go back to the drawing board.

Back on the block(or blog),after putting in unheard of hour at work.If I wouldn’t have spent so much trying to see the Knicks in HD,maybe I wouldn’t have to work so hard.
BTW,I would say we need this win,but we need them all right now.
We have no one to hold Bosh in the paint(give him 36 tonite).
We have no one to stop the parimeter 3’s(about 12,shooting 60%)
We have no one to stop guards from getting into the paint(another 20)
But I like our chances………..

B&B
Good question:Let me put on my coaching hat, just a minute……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
1)May start by trying a zone defense, to keep a body close to Bosh and lean towards those 3-point shooters.
2)Big dose of EC(the EC that played in Chi-town a few nights ago),they really have no one to hold him.
3)Give Steph the green light to get into the paint as much as possible. They don’t have many shot blockers.
4)Try to use JJeferies on Bosh,on man-2-man defense.
5)Use
Steph
Jamal
N8
JJ/Lee
EC or Zach
with and Balk as sub …….what you think?

Get in them damn shirts. Stop letting them take wide open jump shots. The defense needs to be more intense. You’ve got a mostly jumpshooting team. The way you stop them is to pressure them hard on the perimeter and be physical if they come through the lane. If Bosh comes in there beat his azz up. Make them think about other things other than making their jumpshots.

What hurts about this Knick team is they are fooling themself’s!
They are not fooling us! They have much more talent than the 2001-2002-2003 Knick teams.
We never expected Those teams to win. We did expect this team to have the W-L column as it
is now to be reversed.
It is fact now that Thomas has lost this team. He let Marbury’s insurection slide, only
to have it haunt him with the actions of Q and Zach’s public display of disrespect slap
him in the face in front of all of us! He can’t blame anyone but himself for that.

i have no idea peaceman what it will take to turn it around but anything is possible in this league. it is very hard to believe on paper the teams that have winning records and the teams that have losing ones this year.
everybody’s favorite reporter to hate isola is reporting that dolan is leaking changes to be made at the garden, if you can believe that. i can not.

Check this out!!!
There is no shortage of candidates either for Thomas’ front office job or his coaching job. Jerry West and Jerry Colangelo would be considered the top two candidates to become team president. Coincidentally, Colangelo’s son, Bryan, who is the GM of the Toronto Raptors, spoke briefly to Garden president Steve Mills before Friday night’s game.
The same source claims that “people are coming out of the woodwork to try and get Dolan’s attention.” The source said that group includes everyone from former Knicks - both recent and from decades ago - as well as current GMs.
“The same is true of guys who are trying to get the coaching job,” the source said.

from knicks knacks
And from shoot-around, here’s why Thomas isn’t sending Randolph Morris and Wilson Chandler to get some real minutes in the D-League:
“I just like the practice time and what they get here, and the hands-on we get to have here. They get to learn our system more, the way that we want to play. I just think the on-court time they get playing against the pros we have here is better for them. There are times and opportunities when you can send a player down to the D-League, but most of the time you want to keep a player in your system doing the things you do every day so you know when you need them, you can put them in a game. There’s a couple of games where Wilson came in and did a nice job for us only because he’s been here within our system.”

@KnicksD #88
Can’t blame IT if that’s true. They are the only 3 players that bring something EVERY NIGHT!
By D L T Knicks on Jan 12, 2008 at 12:01 pm
The problem is not talent, and it is not Isiahs coaching either, the problem is that this team is one dimensional. It is not built as a team should be built. Isiah has gathered talents, but they can not play together, absolutly no team game at all. No playmaker, no 3-pointshooting, no insidedefense. You build a team upon different styles that suit eachother. This team is just built on talent alone, that doesnt work as we all can see.
Get a high draftpick, try to trade for a Rose as pointguard, let him run the show and see how he develops even if it takes a little time, bring Artest home during the summer to shoreup SF-position. Try to trade Zach or Eddy, cause it will just never work, ever. Bring in a rebounding, defensive player in the paint. Let Craw, Ron and Rose run the offense next year, try to trade to find complements to those players. Or make someother sort of miracle trade if it is possible.
By maestro on Jan 12, 2008 at 12:17 pm
Maestro
You are 100% correct.
I feel the biggest of those problems is the playmaker(point guard).
We have no one to control the team and stop the large amount of turnovers we commit.
Also, defense,Zach and EC are probably the only 6′10,6′11 players who can’t block a shot or play defense.
A player drives pass Zach and EC and it’s like they don’t care, just get down on the other end and put up some numbers.
I was happy when I heard of the players IT brought in at the time.
Did not realize:
Marybury doesn’t take care of the ball.
Crawford doesn’t play defense.
Q would continue to shoot 2-15.
Zach has no defensive skills at all.
EC would not block any shots and average 2-3 rebounds a game.
By D L T Knicks on Jan 12, 2008 at 12:43 pm
But,the players were brought in by IT,and he as GM will have to take the blame.

I do recall some sorts of comparisons of your points of view to that of Isola. I don’t recall such comments made by me. Heck I’m quite sure some of my Isiah as coach must go, or Isiah owes his team a public apology might be read by some as a rant that would be better served on papers like the Daily Snooze or New York Roast but I’m also sure that I have buildt up more than enough credibility here to be understood as a thick or thin Die Hard Knick fan, which I’m sure you are as well. Ok now back to blogging.
I wasn’t able to catch yesterday’s game.
Who did Bosh abuse to get to his game high 40 points?
Was it a combination of Eddy(too slow-no hustle), Zach(pinned to the pine), Lee(not quick enough), and Jefferies(muscled into the post)?
Also I think it’s good news to hear that Dolan may ax Isiah off the bench, and that this might be the chink in Isiah’s teflon suit.
Maestro has it dead on with regard to Isiah’s accumulation of non-complimentary talent being one of the principle reasons this team is where it is. Another reason, IMHO, would be his recruitment of what appears to be a “yes sir” coaching staff around him. Lastlly Isiah’s huge mistake of taking the coaching reigns to begin with which placed him at a huge conflict of interest between the moves made by Zeke the GM and Zeke the coach who tried to amke Zeke the GM’s moves look reasonable by overplaying incompatible line-ups to the teams detriment-and to the detriment of the youth on the team.
All that said I wonder whether a genuine replacement will be brought in at this stage in the season. If not who will become the interim- Herb WIlliam’s sole stint this year did not go so well and many of the Defenders poited out the mistakes made by Williams in that very winnable game against the Rockets.
A genuine replacement may not happen if Zeke’s ouster from the Bench is merely a precursor of his ouster from the organization in general.
Here is whay I hope happens and doesn’t happen- I’ll kepp it short.
Whoever steps to the plate as the interim coach- assuming no immediate replacement is hired- would be best served by:
a) Showcasing our overpaid babies untill the trading deadline- to see if we can shop them around- while our kids are sent down to the Dleague for a short stint of on the job training.
b) If no trades are managed by the trading deadline-assuming it as a possibility- call back up the kids who are in the D-league and then insert them into the game with either a combination of any of the following, greater minutes an increased role, insertion into the starting lineup.
c) Reduce the roles and perhaps take out of the starting lineup the players that will be on the trading block for next year– e.g., Rose, Marbury, etc.
d) If a coaching change is followed by a change in the GM, I hope the replacement doesn’t just clean house to put his “STAMP” on the team, Bronxboy, and Harmlemboy in MD have pointed out the foibles of that approach. Also note that there is some talent in our youth corp that just shouldn’t be part of an overall house cleaning by the incoming GM.
Boys Lets hope for a positive vibe to hit our moribund team.
Lets Go Knicks KFL!
By Black and Blue on Jan 12, 2008 at 2:57 pm
D L T, I agree with most of your points but the statement that “Marybury doesn’t take care of the ball” is not true.
Turnovers this year:
Zach = 3.1
Crawford = 2.8
Curry = 2.2 (down from last year - even while counting % of possessions)
Marbury = 2.0
If you check out Hollinger stats which measures turnover rate via posessions, then just about every single Knick is worse than Marbury with the exception of Nate. In fact Marbury and Nate are pretty much the only two Knicks good at taking care of the ball. Isiah’s man-love for Crawford and insistence that he split bringing up the ball with Marbury has been the wrong move. Don’t be fooled by the razzle-dazzle.
Nate has also emerged of late as the Knicks best perimeter shooter and should be playing alongside Marbury. Marbury needs the perimeter shooter as he likes to penetrate and kick out. IMO, this is the rotation that I wish that i could see:
Eddy then Zach (never together)
Lee (Malik or Jeffries for 10 min breather depending on defensive matchup)
Balkman/Jeffries (some Jamal at 3)
Nate
Marbury (with most ball handling duties)
Jamal is first off bench.
Q is benched.
If anything we are being hurt by

By Black and Blue on Jan 12, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Peaceman,
I do believe there is MERIT to what Steph is saying. The team is CONSTRUCTED w/ Ballers(except Eddy) that would EXCEL in an UP-TEMPO game.
The strategy appears to run the Offense through Eddy, which slows everyone down including Zach, but Mainly Steph. Curry is too 1-dimensional
to build a team around, and in addition he doesn’t hustle all he time. I believe the other players see Curry on film not hustling
realize that their game is suffering, the team is losing, the fans are booing, and the players have had enough. Also,
how can Isiah sit players for not HUSTLING, yet Curry continues to play.
Peace, I also find it interesting that you wnat the Knicks to acquire a player (Artest), that has had run-ins w/ coaches everywhere he
has played, but you want to GET RID of guys that have CONFLICT w/ Isiah. Not sure I see the LOGIC.

By Peaceman on Jan 12, 2008 at 4:14 pm
”I’m being paid 20 million and not being used right.”
peaceman, I don’t like the statement being vocalized either, but I have never heard truer words. It has been 3 years and running since Marbury’s talents have been close to maximized. The way Marbury has been used on the Knicks is a poor man’s version of having Andrew Walter (Raiders QB last year) throwing the ball to Randy Moss. Moss was pouting and not earning his paycheck either. What a difference a year and a QB makes? It would be wonderful if everyone could be like Kevin Garnett was the last few years with the T-Wolves, but had he complained, I would have understood.
If Marbury was used right, there would be no more than 3 “scorers” in the starting line-up at the same time to keep him aggressive on offense. He would also be surrounded by at least one perimeter shooter (that can be Nate). We would also put an end to this splitting bringing it up with Jamal bullshit. And he would have no more than one low post guy in the paint at the same time. Isiah has removed all of Marbury’s greatest assets with his starting line-up and utilization.
Finally, for all the pre-Patriot talk about Moss, the most helpless position to be in, is to be a great player who isn’t ALLOWED to contribute to your team. To KNOW that you can make your team better but to be utilized at 20% is ridiculous. Even the great Jerry Rice used to complain when Steve Young ran too much or he wasn’t getting the ball enough. But nobody remembers that.
By MODI on Jan 12, 2008 at 4:31 pm
Peaceman,
Artest was critical of Carlisle and the offense that he ran, and publicly stated that he needed more shots.
Artest was critical of Floyd w/ the Bulls thought he deserved as many shots as Brand.
Peace Artest is a Good Player, but he is a Pain in the AZZ. Not many teams want a Pain in the Azz around.
Peace, I have a question for you.

You are being too hard on Marbury Part II:
Peace, I work in youthwork, and i think that i am pretty good at my job. In fact everywhere i have been, i have been a hard worker, got good evaluations, and got a long with everybody. I am definitely a people person, and work best in social interactions. Then I had one particular position for a years stretch where I hated my job to the point where I was complaining about it. Essentially, my role was switched from monitoring and training at youth agaencies to essentially sitting in front of a computer all day long and analyzing data. Now it wasn’t that I couldn’t be a good soldier, but to have the knowledge that some of my best talents were not being utilized at all was an incredibly frustrating experience and prompted me to complain a bit and ultimately to update my resume. It wasn’t merely an act of selfishness on my part. It was also the fact that I just KNEW that I could be 10 times more valuable to my company’s goal. …Unfortunately updating a resume is an option that does not exist for sports players under contract.
Peaceman, I don’t know what your own greatest work assets are, but imagine if your job stripped them away from you and you were a fraction of the employee you are today, you were being JUDGED on your new work performance, AND your company was going down the tubes on top of it? THEN you would feel like Stephon Marbury. And no, it has nothing to do with how much money that you get paid or Marbury gets paid. It is more intrinsic than that.
Peace and Blessings

Isiah Fudd
Likes a starting lineup that maximizes chaos and disharmony coupled with a lack of defensive footspeed and intimidation from the 4 & 5 spots.
An offensive cacphony of the failed twin tower combo with Marbury and the great street ball player J-Chuck with Q, can’t hit the shallow side of the ocean, Richardson.
By Black and Blue on Jan 12, 2008 at 5:29 pm
“If the Knicks were WINNING Steph would keep his mouth shut”
statesman, yes, he certainly would. But that means that your personal sacrifices are leading to a greater good. When you believe that you are being used incorrectly, and your beliefs are CONFIRMED with the losses, then it is quite a different story. I am not ready to write it off as purely an act of marketing and selfishness, however, I won’t dismiss that it is some % of the equation. If I were in Marbury’s shoes, I would go a little crazy myself.
B & B, the answer is yes, but George makes a good point about Zach and Marbury having potential for the pick and roll or pick and pop. …If you took the pick and roll away from a guy like John Stockton, he would become just another decent player instead of a Hall-of-Famer.
As far as I am concerned, Jamal only does one small thing better than Marbury at the point guard position: feed Curry. Beyond that, there is less ball movement, more one-on-one, more turnovers, and fewer free throws.

Peace, I do understand your disdain for players who publicly vocalize sentiments that undermine the team concept. Now let me ask you a question: how do you feel when coaches tend to do this? Now it doesn’t have to be Trevor Ariza being called “delusional”, but in general, when a coach publicly berates a player do you have a similar reaction? For example, what about Phil’s comments about Kobe at the start of the season…
By MODI on Jan 12, 2008 at 5:38 pm
KD, I never read that Hollinger piece before, but he certainly makes a lot of points that I would agree with. And that is without even mentioning that Marbury runs a nice pick and roll.
By MODI on Jan 12, 2008 at 5:42 pm
I concurr with the piece by Hollinger regarding how the Knicks might better utilize thier personnel in the absence of consistently legitimate three point shooters.
But I ask anyone this. Do you think that Idea has dawned on Isiah? He might take it as an affront to his coaching philisophy/approach.
Isiah Fudd’s fucked it all up so far.

I hate working w/guys like Marbury who are looking for somebody else to blame instead of manning up and at least try to follow the gameplan given. He wants to score. He wants to be Starbury. Boo freakin’ hoo. If nothing else he should be doing whatever it takes to make this season right given his overwhelming contribution to our current status.
By Jay Bee on Jan 12, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Peaceman, I’m charging you with a blogging technical foul. Couldn’t you have just as easily made your point with “dirty socks” instead of “dirty jocks”?
Harlem, I’m in NYC but I sure wish I was in DC. Hibbert for a 3 at the buzzer! It must have been craaaaaaaaaaazy!
Jay Bee, I honestly think that it is much more than “he wants to be starbury”. I don’t see him hogging the ball like a number of other Knicks. I don’t see him needlessly stopping the offensive flow to get extra shots. If he did, then I would buy the just “Marbury wants to be Starbury” theory. But I mean, he REEEEEEEELLY is not being used right. Almost to the point of cutting him off at the knees. The Knicks weren’t exactly kicking ass during Marbury’s abscence? We NEED Marbury to score, and to penetrate, and to get to the line. If we want to win, we NEED that. He shouldn’t have said it, but he is still right.
By MODI on Jan 12, 2008 at 8:22 pm
I can agree with that MODI except for one caveat. He lost his right to bi+ch and moan and his right to free speech when he bolted and when he took off a month for bereavement which was granted with the never good “Take as much time as you need.”. He took advantage of Zeke and the team and now he’s not being used right? I doubt any player in the history of the game has taken that much time away from the game to grieve. Even his airness whose dad was murdered, probably related to mj’s gambling didn’t take as long away to grieve. I guess my point is that in his abdication of his leadership role, I don’t want to hear anything he’s got to say except “I’m sorry” and “Yes Sir”. He hasn’t earned the right to complain. It’s a shame too because PG is a natural leadership position.
I would propose that we could win with him as more of a distributor. All he was asked to do was to do a better job of decision making out there and play some defense.
The same thing Zeke should be telling Crawford.

Yeah, now they’re 30-5. The season’s long. They can make it back up.

Stephon Marbury again.
I am surprised at some of the support for Marbs.
When has his score-first games won something for some team? Its not that he’s been tied up or something. He’s had numerous chances to run this team and has failed most of the time. He should STFU
While I still believe he is the best guard on the team at the moment, I think the Knicks will be better off without him and he obviously wants to leave. The problem is how to trade such a guy with stars like KG, Lebron, etc openly saying they wouldn’t want him on their team.

“Even his airness whose dad was murdered, probably related to mj’s gambling…”
really Jay Bee? you think it was related? because the media made it seem like a random interstate highway murder at a rest area, now I’ve got the ending of the movie Hoffa in my mind. and with all the CREAM jordan has earned over the years, I wouldn’t think he’d have any problems coughing up lost bet debt but that is a very interesting theory I had never heard before.

Isiah was defiant yesterday when BEAT reporters posed to Zeke the question of his possible dismissal by James Dolan.
Although I wouldn’t put Dolan axing Thomas outside of the range of possibility, the following blurb from that article tells me a bit about the quality of “reporting” that comes out of the tabloid style Daily Snooze, and Roast.
‘The Daily News, citing an anonymous source, reported Saturday that Dolan was in fact “preparing” to fire Thomas and could do so before the end of the season.
That report was contradicted by Barry Watkins, the Garden’s senior vice president for communications, who described the situation as “status quo.” Watkins said that nothing had changed since Dec. 8.
Thomas said he did not need a public statement of support. “I think the fact that there hasn’t been a change has let you know that,” he said. “When Mr. Dolan wants to do something, he does it.”
Another article, in The New York Post, reported that Thomas was considering whether to give up his coaching post and retreat to his position as team president.
“That was just a flat-out lie,” Thomas said. “I would never, ever, ever quit. Ever.”’
I don’t know if I should interpret Thomas’s defiance as a sign of moxy or as a tiding of even more bad news for our moribund Knicks franchise?
Also seems like some decent background reporting was done at the Daily News regarding the topic of losing cycles with the Knicks in the Big Apple.
With regards to the back and forth about Mebury, I think he our best all around gaurd, who has failed to provide the leadership, example setting, and guidance the Knicks have sorely lacked. The Phoenix blow-up with Isiah where just falling in line and leading by example might have lessened the team’s malaise but where instead Marbury added more drama division and fuel for the NY Sports Drama mill did nothing to help my opinion of Marbury.

Hey to the Defenders who are more attuned to the College game… could any of you perhaps provide us pure NBA heads with more articles regarding players you believe could help the Knicks for this upcoming draft. Make your arguments as to which NEED the player will be able to fill, and whether the player will either be an impact player or a development project-assuming we have an early 2nd round pick who could develop to fill a Need somewhere down the line.
KnicksD
Since we most of us recognize that this season is basically lost, do you think the aformentioned would be a good topic for a forum thread. Another Idea I have is doing a forum of possible coaching replacements, whith Isiah as GM, and GM Coaching replacements should Isiah be axed.
Good day to all defenders
Lets Go Knicks
and
Lets Go Giants
New York Sports needs the Gmen to carry the city’s banner at this point
Ciao!

Statesmen, Modi,
You guys seem stuck on evaluating Marbury favorably without looking at the entire package. Last year Marbury made me a believer because he did all the things he needed to do to win. Although the Knicks won only 33 games, he played excellent defense and did his best job to date as an overall player. This year I was a believerr until it was clear that your favorite Knick point guard is a deceiver.
With all due respect the notion that Marbury should be able to dictate how he is best used is as ridiculous as Curry dictating how he should be used. What shooting point guard in this league is dominating the ball, distributing the ball and taking his team to the Chip. What point guard as Marbury has described himself has done that? Nada. None. Zip. Marbury is teasing you because he has great talent including the ability to dominate the game. But this year, while Marbury may still has the talent, he has done absolutely nothing to demonstrate the leadership and team-focused comraderie needed to lead a team to victory. No matter how many lap dances one does for Marbury, you will not make those qualities stand up or even appear. One can ignore them, but they are an essential component to determining the overall utility and effectiveness of the player.
States, probably tongue in cheek (his own not Marbury’s), talked about hedging when I stated that I would take a Marbury both mentally healthy and physically intuned anytime, whereas he would just ake Marbury regardless of his mental health or status. No need to call that notion for what it is. But I will suggest that to indicate that Marbury has a clue about how he should be used is laughable adn to suggest that any GM should build their team around Marbury’s talent is certainly one approach. But I would agree with the GM who would see that Marbury is only one of 15 players with a unique skill set and a commone mindset. The other approach which makes more sense from a GM perspective is to build with him and not around him.
Did Marbury come with a “Buyer Beware” sign attached. “Oh, Mr. GM, check the fine print I intend to only perform well when you start me. let me dominate the ball and allow me to shoot like I did when I was a kid and when they were talking about me in relation to the “Big O” I’m a great player but I don’t function well when I am asked to make mental adjustments.”
I understand the support of Marbury, because him playing like last year or being traded is the Knicks only hope of winning anything. Well that train has left the station. Marbury is not prepared to do anything for anybody but be disruptive and destructive. Peace claims that Marbury couldn’t convince a jury of Ghandi’s peers that he is seeking communion with holiness; more like he would be found guilty o being holier than thou. Funny, but I don’t see any evidence to the contrary.
Yes, everybody must take blame for this situation. And yes, losijng breeds contempt, but for you guys to talk about Marbury like he is saying something that is meaningful for the correction of the Knicks is laughable not laudable. In my mind he can only say two things that would improve the Knicks: “Goodbye” or “I’m ready to serve.”
Build the roster around Marbury. Pipe dreaming or pipe huffing. You pick.
