Knicks host Mavs

December 10, 2007 – 7:02 pm

crawford_dampier.jpg
start time 7:30 at MSG.No Stephon Marbury for tonight’s competition.

Unless he finally decides to experiment with someone other than marbury, Isiah will probably go with a starting five of Fred Jones, Jamal Crawford, Quentin Richardson, Zach Randolph and Eddy Curry.

Curry and Randolph have had major problems lately being productive for the Knicks on either end of the floor.

Wilson Chandler has 23 minutes of playing time total since the regular season started.

As paulnoise just mentioned, the best chance for any leader to emerge from this roster may not be in the current starting five. Also, as of this moment, Ron Artest is still a Sacramento King.

  2. This may be the right thing!
    We don’t need Marbury back!
We need Starbury back! Thats the truth!
Godspeed with the healing Starbury…Please come back as Starbury!

  3. Look at ol’ Nazr in the background. Doesn’t he have a ring now? Seems almost unfair, like Steve Kerr with four rings for shooting wide open jumpers with nobody around for miles. Such is life.

  4. thanks MODI, for the vote of confidence. means a lot, bruh.

let’s get the w tonight. kenny smith says the knicks need to trust each other on both ends of the court. maybe there is some truth to that?

  35. @ Peace….

    Whatdya mean chill?

    We’re ok, this is Dallas????

WTF is that supposed to mean?

This ain’t about Dallas, this is about these sorry, unmotivated fuggin’ Knicks….startin’ with Curry, who gets his shot blocked by Deavan George.

Are you expecting things to get better in the second half?

By bronxboy in Md on Dec 10, 2007 at 8:33 pm

  36. Down by 15 already. What’s the over/under on a 30+ point blow out?

By DNM on Dec 10, 2007 at 8:34 pm

  37. We have to get it down to single digets by halftime!
Dallas sucks on the road this year! Crawford and Jones have to drive!

By Peaceman on Dec 10, 2007 at 8:35 pm

  38. Why we keep on asking? why do they just give the fuck up! I dont think is all the players fault, I think is all of IT fault for not using his players correctly and calling time outs correctly…we need for It to get fired and its not going to happen anytime soon.

By knicksdefense on Dec 10, 2007 at 8:37 pm

  43. I swear, the only way we stand a REMOTE chance of competing tonight is if Curry stays on the bench…

    He causes matchup problems…FOR US!!!!

    Zeke put Balkman on Dirk!!!!!!!

By Peaceman on Dec 10, 2007 at 8:42 pm

  49. Yeah Bronxboy it will get better in the second half!
WTF? Yeah, Curry and ZACH ARE 1 FOR 15????
Crawford needs to take over the second half of this game!

By Peaceman on Dec 10, 2007 at 8:46 pm

  50. @ Peaceman…

Like I said, Zeke could glue Curry’s ass to the bench the whole second half, as far as I’m concerned….

    Like Kenny Smith said…accountability..

    Benchamofo…..It’s a time-tested cure for unproductivity.

By bronxboy in Md on Dec 10, 2007 at 8:49 pm

  51. Bronxboy
I’m with you! But We should be down by 40 with 28% shooting!
This game is not over! Fuck Curry if he’s weak in the 2nd half!
Zach has lost his fucking mind too!
    But….there is effort tonight!
Lets hope the Knicks shoot better in the second half!

By knicksdefense on Dec 10, 2007 at 9:02 pm

  55. I gotta hang this one on Zeke…

Although I’m not crazy about Curry’s work ethic, Zeke is hangin’ him out to dry, having him guard Dirk on the perimeter.

    WTF is he thinkin???

By DNM on Dec 10, 2007 at 9:16 pm

  65. There has to be a line up change. Even a man who wants to get fired should get fired with some respectability that he at least tried to fix this.

By DNM on Dec 10, 2007 at 9:18 pm

  66. This is a team with a really fragile mental psyche.

That said, it doesn’t take much to change the teams’ emotional climate.

At what point this season did the wheels fall off for the Knicks?

I’ll tell you what I think the single biggest event was, but I’d like to hear your thoughts.

By bronxboy in Md on Dec 10, 2007 at 9:18 pm

  67. Stephon going AWOL

By DNM on Dec 10, 2007 at 9:20 pm

  68. BX– just like MODI said in the last post. to paraphrase what he said, the team was lost when isiah benched marbury (over-reaction by isiah) for not guarding the three point shot at the end of the game prior to the phoenix road game.

too much adversity in a short period of time for the team to really come together and feel like a real team. first day of training camp isiah was still at the ABS trial. that’s not a good start either.

By knicksdefense on Dec 10, 2007 at 9:25 pm

  69. Knicksome
you’ll get one pass at calling me a pussy!
I won’t Kick this team when there down!

By Peaceman on Dec 10, 2007 at 9:25 pm

  70. lousy coaching tonight by Zeke..Kenny ripping him all night on the Curry/Dirk matchup….When is he gonna give Chandler and Randolph Morris some meaningful burn….I’m ready for a lineup change or a trade about now.

By Top Shotta on Dec 10, 2007 at 9:26 pm

  71. this is what MODI actually said, much better than my words:

    – so far, I blame Jason Williams for everything! If he doesn’t hit that winner in game 5, Isiah doesn’t overreact and bench Marbury, marbury doesn’t overreact and go AWOL, media doesn’t overreact and…(okay, I take that last one back), there is no straw poll taken by Jamal, there is no overruling of straw poll, there is no locker room dissention… fuck “white chocolate”!

By knicksdefense on Dec 10, 2007 at 9:27 pm

  72. Maybe IT wants Curry to get embarrassed?

By DNM on Dec 10, 2007 at 9:28 pm

  88. the last thread was very disturbing, but i at last realized i shouldn’t be at all surprised by it. what’s old is new again.

knicksdee, there are two kinds of cancers a blog can catch. trolls are the obvious ones. the sneakier cancer is the over-sensitive alpha pup. the second he senses his authority is threatened he instantly whips out one of his three handy-dandy, rarely-fails, if-you-don’t-like-it-man-up cards: RACE, GAY, or MSM. it’s a hairtrigger reaction, he cannot help himself. it’s lonelybitterman aggression fed by unmoderated, code-of-conduct-free environments (and, btw, you’re a “hitler” or sissy for trying to implement a modicum of decorum).

this cancer salts the ground and, being the insecure nomad, he will follow everyone to the next fertile ground and do the same there. and then at the place after that. you would be wise to unhitch your wagon from his bumper. it’s only a matter of time. (MODI, if you ever decide to go to game-day posts, yer prolly next)

anyway, i’ve learned this frequent blogging stuff, like reckless driving, is a game for younger men with few responsibilities. thanks to modi’s most excellent existence, i think i’ve finally re-balanced myself, my KD-addiction, is in peace-bringing remission.

By Jay Bee on Dec 10, 2007 at 9:53 pm

  107. I just don’t see any solution…we already suck…might as well suck with players who might pan out in the future. We already know what these guys are capable of, which isn’t much. I’m sick of hearing about their potential. All of the key guys are veterans. They aren’t young.

By DNM on Dec 10, 2007 at 9:55 pm

  108. This team isn’t going nowhere this season they just dont have da heart….can’t wait to hear what IT has to say about this one……I stand my ground with this team, losing as a fan I have just cause in saying what I feel in what I see and this team we will just not dot it. We need a big change but I dont think we can cause our trade value has dropped. Wow with al this talk in da begining of da season I actually talk we would be good this is soooo depressing!

    Yes you can!!
Dolan could do whatever he wants, I think we all realize that now.

I don’t know why he just doesn’t buy The Daily News, Post or just start a publication.

    Rebuild through the draft.
It’s the only way to go.

Don’t tell me nobody would take Curry…that’s bullshit.
More than 50 percent of the teams in the NBA would love to have Curry on his team.
The kid is only 24, so there will be a sucker out there that thinks they can teach him defense.

  113. IT is such a pussy with his team.

By Knicksome on Dec 10, 2007 at 10:10 pm

  114. Man the Patriots look good.
    Best Football Team ever…
Best QB ever…Brady will break Manning’s record for TD passes.
Moss will break Rice’s TD record.
Brady will break Marino’s record for most yards in a season ever.
Their still on pace to score the most points as a team in NFL history.
You just can’t say enough about them.

By DaVonn Jefferson on Dec 10, 2007 at 10:11 pm

  115. Re: #111 - Agreed I think most of us would looooooove a lineup change. Break out the kids. Morris only has one more year on his contract and he’ll be a free agent. If he’s hungry, let’s see him.

    Free Wilson Chandler.

By Jay Bee on Dec 10, 2007 at 10:12 pm

  116. Could Morris really be that much worse than Curry? I highly doubt it. Let’s see what he can do. I’m not saying start the guy…but at least let him play.

    Free Nate, Morris, and Chandler.

By DNM on Dec 10, 2007 at 10:13 pm

  120. twice during isiah’s post game interview, a reporter asked isiah if there was a back and fourth conversation between isiah and some fans in attendance. Isiah deflected the questions as Jim Dolan has instructed. you could see isiah wanted to talk about it, but he did a great job of keeping it an in-house manner. for everyone’s sake, hopefully nobody had their cell-phones fired up to video mode.

that’s dolan’s MO. give the press nothing of the truth that transpired. f*ck the fans.

  125. Isiah’s not smart or strong enough to run a team, but he’s smart enough to know by now that Knicks fans are his enemies. He seems to enjoy putting a losing team on the floor.

He’d never admit it, but he’s borrowing one of Larry Brown’s tactics: putting his players in positions to fail. He marooned Eddy Curry for most of the night on Dirk, tiring him out as he played very ineffective defense anyway. Balkman on Dirk for most or all of the game would’ve been the better option. I guess Thomas is just glad the crowd is booing someone else more than they boo him.

  126. Curry’s ass is gravity defying. Hence no rebounds or blocks. Untradeable.

By Donnypipes on Dec 10, 2007 at 11:06 pm

  127. Folly, thanks for the words.

Balkman getting no time in second half is inexplicable. I have been waiting a few weeks for Isiah to start a defender in his starting line-up. I’m still waiting.

I would absolutely LOVE to see a statistical anaysis of the Knicks when only Zach or Curry are in the game BY THEMSELVES vs, while in together. Has anyone crunched these numbers?

By MODI on Dec 10, 2007 at 11:19 pm

  128. Donnypipes, zach, despite his great numbers, does not play above the rim either.

why not invert the rotation? play the guys on the bench that are getting the fewest minutes, and see how it goes from there? what’s wrong, afraid of getting blown out? afraid of rookie mistakes turning the ball over? afraid of hurting egos? can a team win when egos are a primary concern?

repeating the same conditions every day and hoping for different results is the definition of insanity. the knicks team is imprisoned by the rotation. the starting five must change. breen and smith even said it tonight and they’re paid to be PC by JD.

  129. ““He said it’s the fans’ fault because they don’t have a good sixth man,” said Mara Altschuler, who has season tickets in the front row near the Knicks’ bench. Altschuler sought out the news media after the game to relate the conversation.

This from a NYT article, Another Loss, Another Scapegoat: Sixth Man. So this time MSM highlights a fan’s unbiased “conversation” with zeke as “news.”

Second last paragraph re Rose is sort of interesting. And for those thinking a trade of some sort is imminent….

“Despite the Knicks’ struggles, Thomas said, “We’re not actively looking to move anyone. We like what we have. We just have to roll up our sleeves and do better with what we have.”

  130. MODI, I hear you on Balk, he would have been the best bet on slowing Dirk but it didn’t happen. I hope to see more balk and more of our first-round draft pick Wilson Chandler who could be an upgrade over Quentin in the starting five in terms of athleticism and youth, but also in terms of shooting percentage, height and defense.

the knicks put for the effort to get back into it, but the momentum stopped once eddy got popped in the mouth and the blood began to flow.

  133. QUOTE FROM ZEKE……….

“Every game is life or death. Every game is the season. There’s no 82-game season, it’s one game you’re on, one game you’re off. That’s the unique passion that New York brings because the people here are thirsty, they want it and they expect for you to give it to them every night . . . It really does bring out the best in you and you’ve got to give it here and you’ve got to bring it, whether you’re a coach, whether you’re a player, whether you’re a guy catching the subway to get to work every morning . . .”

IF THIS IS YOUR BEST ZEKE, YOU GOTTA GO. PLEASE TAKE ME’BURY AND CURRY WITH YOU.

  136. FIX THE KNICKS !!!!!!!

    START W/ THIS ……

Zeke gets shown the door. Bring in Donnie Walsh as GM and promote Herb for the rest of the year. Make a big run at Phil Jackson in the off season.

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=509~3179~991~557&teams=20~20~18~18&te=&cash=

    THEN………….

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=990~2782~739~25~556&teams=23~23~23~18~18&te=&cash=

That gives us a starting 5 of A.Miller, Q, Artest, ZBO, and Dalembert. The bench is then Jones, Crawford, Balkman, Lee, and B. Miller. Deep bench - Collins, JJ x2, and Chandler.

That would leave Sac w/ a starting 5 of Bibby, Martin, Garcia, Rahim and Curry. They get 8 mill. cap relief in Malik next year.

Philly would be Marbury, Korver, AI, Evans, and Morris They get 20 mill cap relief next year.

This would allow those 2 teams to continue to rebuild when the FA class is deep. It would also allow the Knicks to climb out of the cellar.

Phil should be able to run the triangle w/ Miller, Ron and ZBO. He might even be able to get Kobe to switch coasts w/ him.

JUST BLOGGIN’ but what else is there to do when you are in the basement.
