Highlights from last night’s Sixers-Knicks game

December 9, 2007 – 3:39 pm

The highlights weren’t available on MSG network. No, there weren’t any highlights even at the Garden, assuming you’re a knicks fan. The highlights of last night’s game were here on Knicksdefense.com. You want to know how the diehard Knick fans really feel about watching their team get their ass handed to them by a rebuilding franchise two days in a row? Keep reading. (Peaceman may or may not owe STATESMAN a steak dinner due to the most recent knicks debacle)

If Curry possesses any intestinal fortitude, it’ll be on display tonight.

What I see here is Zeke the “coach” having to justify Zeke the “GM”……

That’s why the better performers aren’t playing.

But if he want to last in NY, something will have to give.

At this rate, I don’t see him lasting till Christmas.
If Curry had an ounce of pride, he would’ve responded to Delembert’s comments with a monster game tonight.

I guess he has none. No heart, either.

STATESMAN
If Crawford is starting, your team is losing. The record does not lie. A 3rd guard at best. Never plays
D, and makes the CRUCIAL MISTAKE. Don’t let last night fool you, game became Craw w/ ball and do what he wants.
Zeke has to take Craw out of the starting 5.
JCHUCK
1 FOR 10. Look at shooting the last 5 games (w/ last night included. He is 3rd guard at best.
Too many jump shots. Feed the Post.

Knicksome
I personaly think Curry should’nt start, as you see Zeke takes him out and the guards can take it to the hoop or penetrate and pass it to an open man for the outside shot…..I really think curry should come off the bench…..let lee start

I’m so sick of curry…..cant rebound to save his life.

Guys straight up IT has to get fired, he does not know how to use his line up. I hate this shit I’m sick of it I’m sick of curry being lazy and out played. We should try and trade now beofre their trade value drops…..da only good thing to watch is da cheer leaders and they dont even put them on camera as much.

DaVonn,

I’m with you enough is enough, I’m tired of people saying its still ealry in da season. That is still unacceptable I want them to fire IT trade curry and rebuild around Zbo.

@ DVJ..

Nah bruh..speak your piece…

We’ve mentioned it before,and I’m saying it again…

The Knicks seem to play better, more fluid ball without Curry, and to a lesser degree, Steph. Not saying that they’re a better team, just saying they seem to play better.

It’s the truth folks, whether you like it or not.

Did yall hear what Clyde suggested?

The same everyone but Isiah seems to see…

SHAKE UP THE LINEUP!!!!

We were in a ten point hole before we knew what hit us, and the bench brought us back..

The main culprit….Curry.

He doesn’t rebound, doesn’t intimidate ANYBODY..

and bogs down the offense.

Start Lee!!

DVJ

This is terrible.
Makes me ashame to be a Knick fan.
Somebody want to please explain to me how we have the highest payroll in the league and we can’t win one game against the “Sisters”?

Double digit hole…..AGAIN!!!!!

To reiterate a recent post of mine, the sixers gave Boston all they could handle
last game. If the Knicks think this is a cake walk tonight, we will get our ass handed
to us like an early Christmas present! The Knicks must play an A game, because Philly
is a dangerous team that has nothing to lose!

Davonn

I Guarantee we won’t lose tonight!
How much more shit can we pile up on this Knicks team this year?
ABS, Currys life threating event, Zach’s loss, the Suns game away, Marburys loss, the press
hounding for Zekes fireing? The Boobirds? You can’t make this shit up!
CHILL …we will be fine!

Why do people continue to say that the Knicks are full of talent? What’s so talented about these guys?

I don’t see anyone doing anything talented. Talented people score and pass and play defense. Our guys are just a bunch of excellent athletes that were at one point in their career highly touted as having tons of potential.

Zeke has brought just shit$y basketball players to the Knicks. How can your startegy as a GM be to trade for guys that have never even sniffed wins. Meaning that they put up numbers but they suck and nobody wants to play with them

ESPN the mag did a thing on Brandon Roy and in the article they said that ZBO used to stand in the locker room after the game and just yell out what all his teammates deficiencies were. They mentioned this because Roy eventually called out ZBO and became the leader in the locker room. How does Zeke not know this guy is a disaster. He’s a big guy who shoots 20 footers and is allergic to defense — SIGN HIM UP!

Why’s Zeke still here after we lost by 45 points to the Celtics?

Someone needs to get benched. And I don’t mean take him out of the game. I mean never put him in the game. Curry and Randolph should just sit one entire game and watch in uniform. And see what it’s like. Let the inexperienced kids get some run

Hopeless, without focus, maybe psychologically F’ed-up, Changes are warranted. There is no way that professionals should conduct themselves this way against equal competition.

maestro
The problem is quite simple.
Jamal Crawford, has one good game in three.
Eddie Curry had one good game in seven.
And they are supposed to be our franchise players ???
And an even bigger problem is that we can not trade them. No team wants loooooosers.
And the biggest problem of all, there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

Post-up Prince
Emogh. This embarassment cannot continue. If they lose to Dallas, some heads must roll. Either a trade or two happens next week, or Zake is history. KFL.

D L T Knicks

I can’t take it anymore.

Someone has to go.

I watched the Knicks get BEAT DOWN 2 nights in a row.

And the sad thing is…………….no one on the Knicks seems to be upset.

Maybe Lee.

Zeke after the game “we need to get better”………duh.

“we need to feel good about ourselves”…..uh YEA!

Those who read my post in the past know that I wanted Zeke to get this done to shut everyone up.

Jokes on me, everyone seems to be right,I’m the one who is wrong…….WE STINK!!…BIG TIME!!

No fire in Curry’s eyes, doesn’t seem to mind losing.

I understand Steph being down, but not the whole team.

Those 3 hours on the court are suppose to help you forget everything else.

What excuse does Curry,Q,Balk and Zach have for playing this bad.

I want to sue the Knicks for making me pay for the NBA package from Directv….I want a refund.

We need something to happen….Now for the first time,I say start with Zeke.

ALL the players should be upset knowing Zeke personally reached out to get them here.

No passion for the game. no screeming,no bench support,no high fives.

Just let Philly(who also stinks) dunk,after dunk,after dunk,after dunk,after dunk,after dunk,after dunk,after dunk,after dunk.

This is my ALL-TIME LOW as a Knicks Fan……..but,I’m not going no where.

Someone has to go to wake this team up!!!!

Kevin Harewood

Time to make that change. This is not turning around. Something is missing even from last year

Being realistic, Dolan isn’t going to do anything within a week of the star player’s father dying. That bought Isiah some time.

Just think how bad Dolan would look now if he pulled the trigger.

  5. bx. you’re absolutely right. sorry peaceman, I know you’re a true knicks fan with heart like starks.

i think almost all of us want the same thing, for the knicks to be legit. everybody has their own theory as to how this can be accomplished, which is why I put up the poll.

When it comes to defending Isiah at this point, the proof is in the 6-13 pudding. The players aren’t showing up, and that reflects the person who selected those players, who talks to those players on a daily.

By knicksdefense on Dec 9, 2007 at 4:45 pm

  6. Zeke tried to trade for Mophead.

    By D L T Knicks on Dec 9, 2007 at 4:50 pm

  7. I just read about that too DLT Knicks… you beat me to it, good job.

By knicksdefense on Dec 9, 2007 at 4:54 pm

  8. @ Knicks D

If WE would have gotten Mophead, what happens to Lee?

Zeke should have offered Lee or Balk.

Offering Rose doesn’t get us anywhere…….what you think?

    By D L T Knicks on Dec 9, 2007 at 5:01 pm

  9. I think we have enough pieces to compete right now, but I think they’ve tuned Zeke out. So with that said, what do ya’ll think is the BEST course of action….

    1. Dismiss Zeke, or…

    2. Go the addition by subtraction route…..Trade certain players…starting with Curry and Steph?

In my estimation, those are the two biggest barometers. As I stated previously, the team seems to play better without them.

If you think the solution is the latter, how difficult would it to accomplish???

By bronxboy in Md on Dec 9, 2007 at 5:25 pm

  10. Bronxboy in Md

We do have the players to win now. I agree. I don’t understand the players not responding to Zeke after he is the person that bought each player to the Knicks.Makes no sense.

The problem is NO LEADERS with HEART,DESIRE that refuse to lose.

It is not possible to trade Steph and/or Curry now.Who would want them at their salaries? 19mill and 8 mill…and can’t get the job done.

Trading those 2 would be the best place to start.BUT, it won’t happen

The easy move is to fire Zeke. But now you need 2 people to to replace him(GM and Coach).

So this is really a mess.

Another way out is to add/subtract players by TAKING ON OTHER TEAMS BAD CONTRACTS.

And add more money to the payroll.

    THIS IS A REAL MESS.

SOLUTION: Trade Lee and Rose for Artest.

Lee is one of our best assets(high talent and hustle, low pay,990,000).

The kings want him and we will get a talent that doesn’t like losing who could lead our young team.

He will help our defense and will not accept players quitting and not playing hard.

He could bring a tough man attitude to the Knicks

    By D L T Knicks on Dec 9, 2007 at 5:51 pm

  11. The problem is that there is not enough grinders on this team. It doesnt matter that players are talented when no one wants to do the dirty work that is needed to win games. You put 5 primadonnas on the floor together, they will all dance around looking pretty, but thats all. We have Craw and Steph at guard, they are bad defenders and not good enough playmakers. Q is a better defender and should probably start at Shooting guard, but Q cant hit a shot. We dont have good enough 3-point shooting to surround our bigs in the middle with. We have a center that wont play defence or rebound, and we pair him up with a powerforward that wont play defence either. How can anyone say that we can compete with a team that has those flaws ???

By maestro on Dec 9, 2007 at 6:03 pm

  12. Maestro

I agree. Our players have no fire. Curry looks like he is sleep-walking down the court. He doesn’t DEMAND the ball like a dominant center would.

Steph hasn’t shown fire or desire in a long time.

Lee has it, Balk at time has it and maybe N8.

Maybe change the line up to:

    N8
    Q
    Balk
    Lee
    Zach

make Steph,Curry JJ,Crawford earn their minutes.

    By D L T Knicks on Dec 9, 2007 at 6:32 pm

  13. But realistically, what can be done ?
Can we trade any or our players to make this team better ??
Can any team out there possibly want a player like Curry ? We all know that Curry can score a lot, what team needs an inside scorer ? Chicago could use one, but how likely is it that they want him back ? Washington could do with an inside presence, but I dont see that happening. No, looking around the league I just dont find any probable takers for Curry, so we are stuck with him. Trading Marbury…not gonna happen, huge contract and in decline.
Trading Jamal. Now this could happen. Jamal is a scorer and he can win games when he is hot. Come playofftime there has to be teams that want a scorer like that coming of the bench, like Jason Terry does for Dallas. Teams like Detroit, Cleveland, New Orleans, Houston could use him off the bench.
We have to look at the future now, forget about this season, and next, just focus on building a team, a team that covers all areas needed to win. Focus should be on getting a pointguard. Steph has two more years on his contract and Jamal is not the answer to replace him as PG, Nate…no.
Shooting guard is also a problem. Jamal is a scorer off the bench in my mind. Q is not the solution either, although he has game in his body, but i doubt he will ever play up to standards again.
Smallforward we have Balkman. Limited shooting ability, but he has the rest and surrounded by talanted players his ability as a defender and hustler are perfect.
Powerforward Z-bo, he will be usefull with Balkman and a center that gives us 10 points, 10 rebounds and plays defence. David Lee will do the first two without a problem, but he isnt big enough to play center and he is not a good defender.
So what for the future ? A pointguard to control the game and plays defence, a center as mentioned above. Start there and give Z-bo and Balkman the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully we will loose enough games this season to get a good draftpick to start rebuilding. And pray that some of the GMs out there gives us a gift in a trade…not likely…

By maestro on Dec 9, 2007 at 6:47 pm

  14. Sounds like we’re stuck with this team for the foreseeable future, for better or worse.

Who possesses the ability to step up, to do some dirty work? My guess would be ZBo.

He’s the one with the chip on his shoulder.

How do we manage the egos? I think Curry, and to a lesser degree Steph, have to have their minutes cut. We need to play a little “small ball” involving Lee and Fred Jones, with a dose of Balk and N8.

I know it’s easier said than done, but that’s why Zeke makes the big bucks. He’s gotta make those tough decisions.

By bronxboy in Md on Dec 9, 2007 at 7:03 pm

  15. An Artest trade may change this team.

We may have to give up Lee to get someone with fire who can lead.

I can’t see any GM taking Curry based on the way he is playing. GM’s can watch Knicks film to see he is not worth building around.

Who wants a 6′11 285 pounder who doesn’t rebound or block shots?

Steph will be a great trade NEXT year.He will be an 21 million expiring contract that every team would want.

I always thought that Crawford sould come off the bench (back when we posted for The Knicks Fix).He has no defense.

Keep Fred Jones, he has a 3.3 million expiring contract but is our BEST perimeter defender.

Use N8 and let’s see what Chandler has to offer.

Find a defensive center….Theo Ratiliff comes to mind. Yes, he has a big contract.

Make another better offer for Varejao.

I don’t see an easy fix……..but only to start with Artest.

    By D L T Knicks on Dec 9, 2007 at 7:04 pm

  16. So far it seems I/m the only one that votes to start Fred Jones. So far his +/- tops all the guards

    By St_George on Dec 9, 2007 at 8:34 pm

  17. St_George, that could work, starting fred would change the dynamic, but who would sit? steph or crawford?

By knicksdefense on Dec 9, 2007 at 8:43 pm

  18. How can people honestly say that they believe this team has the players to win right now?

You guys are watching the games right? Nobody plays defense! That means these players can’t win together. How can you win when the other team scores a ton of points every night?

If you break basketball down to its most simplistic form: score more than your opponent or you can hold him to less points that you got.

We can’t do the latter. We can do the former in a half-ass manner that sometimes works. The teams that compete can do both or are awesome at doing one: Suns are scorers; Pistons play team defense; San Antonio does both.

These players don’t contribute to one half of the equation and aren’t that good at the other half. Every single person is to blame except Balkman, Lee and Fred Jones…Those guys are trying to do both offense and defense and I give them credit and enjoy watching them play.

Bottom Line, all the others must go. Whether it be by execution or we just send them to hang in Jamaal Tinsley’s crew…we need to get rid of these guys. They suck, plain and simple. We CANNOT and WILL not win with a core of Marbury, Crawford, Curry and ZBo…just saying those 4 names makes me laugh. Every team has a core of four guys that are so much better than that…Well besides the Sixers…wait, or do they?!?!?!?!

By PC on Dec 9, 2007 at 8:47 pm

  19. We just got to suck it up and this Black cloud will pass!
From the gun held to Curry’s head to the deaths suffered by Steph and Zach,
it will all pass like this losing streak! There is no simple answer but it will be
done. 63 games left to make a run! This will always be my team so I will stay with
ship and ride these waves. I respect the fact that Dolan sent word to the NY media
that Zeke’s job is safe and the NY media are chokeing on his words! The tide will turn
just keep the faith! We all know the Knicks are better than they have showed! It’s a bounus that
the Raptors, Nets, Heat, Bulls, Sixers all suck as bad if not worse than the knicks!
So my game plan is to Suck a little less than those teams!

  28. What exactly was said in Zeke’s office after the home loss to Philly, before Zeke and
Dolan walked out laughing? The following is most likely close to the truth!

Dolan: Zeke it’s been a rough week! The team’s support of Steph’s loss was uplifting!

Zeke: Yeah Jim, I’m sure the team would rather go through 60 more losses like tonight
than another players family members funeral!

Dolan: Well just keep your head up, it’s not like the rest of the conference is
lighting fires! Only three teams are standing out from the pack, you try
your best to make us the fourth!

    Zeke: Thanks Jim.

Dolan: Imagine these beat writers trying to tell my Father what to do?
Well, those transactions we put on hold, pull the trigger when
you see fit! You have my open Check book again!

Zeke: Thanks Jim. How can I thank you?

Dolan: You don’t have to! Those beat writers have put you in a win-win situation!
If you guys continue to lose, I will extend your contract! If you guys start
Wining, I will extend your contract! Those tabloid fairys don’t control
    my family!

Zeke: Jim, what outcome would you prefer?

Dolan: One that gives one of those beat writer bastards a Heart Attack!
I’d like to read one of their obituaries! You want me to annouce
    an extension now?

Zeke: No Jim, it would definatley Kill one of them tomorrow!
    It’s too close to Christmas!

Ahh, those teams are much better than the Knicks. The only exception is the Heat. Minny, Seattle and Memphis is where the Knicks sit. At least those teams have young sueprstars to build around. I’d rather have Wade, Jefferson, Durant or Gasol than all the players combined on the Knicks.

  30. JB, good point on trading Curry.

By Tom on Dec 10, 2007 at 9:42 am

  31. I wish Peaceman?s dialogue didn?t have so much of the ring of truth to it. I have no problem believing that Dolan is, at least in part, making decisions based on doing exactly the opposite of what many sports writers are recommending (Fire Isiah, etc.). Some on this blog have suggested the very same motivation. If true, it would be a sad, sad statement about how the franchise is run. But I fear it could be closer to the truth than we?d like to believe. It would be nice, of course, if Dolan were making decisions based only on what?s best for the team. I think as far as that?s concerned, Dolan is in over his head. I?ve never seen anything that leads me to believe he has a clue what?s best for the team. So he does what any good executive should ? rely on his staff. But if Dolan is asking Isiah what?s best for the team, then we?re caught in this vicious cycle where things continue to get worse and worse and Dolan keep supporting Isiah.

The question I?d like to ask Dolan is: How bad do things have to get? What?s HIS bottom line? Surely there must be some level of failure that constitutes sufficiently unsatisfactory job-performance to warrant firing Isiah. What is it? How bad do things have to get? Otherwise stated: How much time does Isiah have to show improved? This season? More? Less? Last year, Isiah had one year to show improvement. You could argue the team is worse today than they were the day Isiah?s contract was extended. They?re certainly no better. If Dolan has a plan, it?s hard to imagine what it is . . .

  43. African,

Individual defense is over-rated. If you look at the Spurs & Pistons they play TEAM-DEFENSE.
The problem w/ the Knicks is the Starting 5 does not play team defense. They attempt to
outscore other teams, not stop other teams. If Curry was a “Baby Shaq”, as someone
said he would block shots, and rebound. He is just “Curry”, so the “Team” has to play better Team D.

We do not need anymore trades. We Need to get your boy Jamal, and Q, out of the starting 5.
Put Jones in Jamal slot and Balkman in Q’s spot and the team D, and shot selection improves immediately.
Q, keeps jacking 3s even though he’s shooting 25% from 3 pt land, and your boy Jamal makes every guard
look like an allstar. He has not played D at all. He is the ultimate HighRisk-High Reward Guy, that doesn’t
play D. Well, maybe next to Calvin Murphy, but on this team you need Steady guards, that will feed the post.
This Team needs to play at a grinding tempo, and force the ball inside.

    Peace & Blessings

First of all, Craw is not my boy.
    Don’t mistake me for Anti.
You do have valid points, but I choose to go my route.
What puzzles me is that Zeke is keeping that starting five intact.
Game after game, even the few that we won, we’re always down double digits in the first quarter. Except for Jersey.
We do have defensive minded players on the bench that would play hard.
    Something’s got to be done.
Contrary to what “THE MEDIA” wants, I’ll still be there at the Garden tonight. I’m still on board.
    I’m not swayed!

By African on Dec 10, 2007 at 11:20 am

  45. African

I am not swayed either. I am confused. Isiah knows basketball, and significance of Defense & Chemistry, but
yet he keeps that starting 5 in there. I think that some crazy stuff behind the scenes is going on.
Zeke could be Pissed because he thought by going to trial Dolan hung him out, and he just wants to
get fired and take his cash. Isiah is a competitor and would never allow this kind of stuff to go on.
    I still believe.

BTW, Tom is probably one of your old friends from an old blog. The sum of Tom, Trane & Lee-Deep = Troll.

BTW, I am totally against trading Lee & Balk at any cost. Those guys bring it everytime they step on the court.

    Peace & Blessings

By STATESMAN on Dec 10, 2007 at 11:32 am

  46. First of all, I think you?ll find that I?m the one who promoted ?Don?t Feed the Troll? on another site. If you?re going to use it, I want either attribution . . . or royalties.

Second, I went into this season believing that ? all in all ? Isiah should have a chance to pick up where he left off, with a healthy team, to see how far he can take them. I never for a minute believed things would get this bad, this fast.

But one of the reasons I wrote the earlier post was that I was curious what the current thinking is around here. I still read and post here occasionally, just not as regularly as I do at Newsday. But most of the talk is about players, trades, roster moves, etc. I?ve read some anti-media support for Dolan, but very little is said about Isiah these days.

No doubt, I personally now believe it?s time he?s gotta go. It?s not as though we?re holding onto some gem it would be a shame to lose. Last summer I believed he was the best guy to move the team forward, mostly because the team supported him and any management change would be more disruptive than it was worth. But there is certainly no evidence ? either on or OFF the court ? that the team supports him this year the way they did last year. AND could acoaching change possibly be more disruptive than the current chaos on 33rd Street? Anyway, that?s my thinking.

So, African, your optimism knows no bounds if it hasn?t taken a hit over the first 25% of the season. Do I assume from your response that you are unshaken in your belief that Dolan and Isiah are the best management team for the franchise? That Isiah is the best GM AND coach we could possibly have? Are you saying the team isn?t in lousy shape and seemingly getting worse, not better? After back to back losses to one of the worst teams in the league? Then I?m FAR from the only one on this site that you need to argue with . . . but those are basketball arguments. Don?t confuse them with the notion of the ?Troll.? Trolls have nothing to do with basketball and don’t deserve to be treated with respect. I’ve responded with respect.

Mark is the troll ? if you?re going to use it, use it right . . .

By Trane on Dec 10, 2007 at 11:42 am

  47. States:
Confused I am also. There has to be something behind the scenes.
I know Curry is not happy.
He starts the game with 10 points in the first and finishes with twelve.
The guards go away from the team philosophy.
Like you said, Craw is playing on his own.
Zach thinks whenever he gets the ball, he won’t get it back if he passes, so he takes two pointers just inside the three point line.
Q, although a good defender shoots the three ball too early in the shot clock, and we all know his percentages.
Chemistry is no where to be found.
If no trade is made, we need to mix and match these players. Start Jefferies or Balk at the three. Start Fred. Do something different Zeke, anything different.
I’ll add Curry to Lee and Balkman. I won’t trade these three.

    Good observation on the trolls.

  51. Re: #30 - It always amuses me to see constant Knick bashers come in here with “good intentions”. Dolan is a businessman. “His” goal with “his” company is to increase shareholder value (”His” shares included). Given that the business value has increased by $200 mil in the past four years. I’d say he and Isiah have done a pretty good job of doing that. Remember that Isiah was hired in December of 2003, not before that season started. He had nothing to do with the draft picks of that year and Don Chaney was the coach. Bringing in 2 HOF coaches was not a bad idea. The value of the team six years after Cablevision purchased the team was $401,000,000. Up $105 mil from the purchase price of $296 mil in 1997. Last time I checked $200 million over four years was better than $105 over six.

    http://www.forbes.com/static_html/nba/2004/valuationsFLA.shtml?index=2

Since Isiah joined the team he has increased the overall value of the team on average by 11% every year and by an overall total of 50% in his four years. (I know it doesn’t add up 50% straight up, it’s the FV of $1 or $$ X 1.11 year one X 1.11 year two…etc.) Like it or not this team is interesting. You don’t know what they’re capable of night in and night out. They’re coming together but lack consistency. They can beat anybody and evidently right now they can lose to anybody. But you don’t know before the game starts and it’s precisely that kind of drama that makes people watch. Some people are tuning in just to hear the booooos. I’m sure it pisses you and Hahny off when they don’t. Bashing the Knicks is a career building move. Tell him I said hi. I expect to see him on tv any day now as Vescey is looking more and more like the Cryptkeeper and probably could use some blood (on ice with a shot of vodka).

You though, would blow everything up. Tank the season. Worked for Boston. You just seem to have a hard-on to get Isiah fired. It bothers you to see “him” over this team. Guys like you root against the team so you can achieve your goal of getting “him” fired. If they turn the corner and make the playoffs, you say, “They should’ve won more games. Fire Isiah.” I get it. Sorry Dolan keeps fuk’n with you. I’ma keep fuk’n with you too if you keep coming in here with that propaganda.

But you are fooling yourself if you think that’s value that Dolan added to the team. He owns real estate in midtown Manhattan, that Forbes rates as 31% of the team’s overall value. But the BUSINESS of the Knicks is the worst in the NBA. No NBA lost more money last year than the Knicks. If you don’t know the difference between revenue and operating losses . . . Google it. I ask you DEE-FENDERS- Where is the Scholar’s Leadership when the Knicks need it?

You cannot defend him as long as he starts that non defensive unit.
    It’s terrible…..just terrible.
If he doesn’t change it before Christmas or he doesn’t make a trade by then…he should get fired.
Right now he still has a chance to save his job with a trade or 2.

  74. Tom, your tenure here is just about over.

    >>>

My vote on who is a true fan:

Any fans that still watch the team play at this point. I was in a sports bar for the last game myself, people were watching an NFL show on every channel, and I had my knicks colors on as I usually do, I asked them to change it to the knicks game, they were already down 20 yet I sat there and watched my team play the game.

For STATESMAN to think he should come on here and call people names like “trolls,” “Lee-Deep,” “Knee Deep,” “ship-jumpers” and make BLANKET_STATEMENTS about any fan’s character is completely asinine and insults this blog’s collective intelligence. Trolling my own blog now? that’s quite a feat! Fans buy tickets to the game, fans watch the knicks go 6-13 but still wear their sh*t, fans still blog about what they want to be done.

Another bullsh*t concept used on here is to be against “fantasy GM” writing. If you’re a fan, you have 100% the right to postulate as to what your beloved team can do to improve beyond 6-13 including a handful of ugly blowout losses.

Now you come on here and talk smack about people and that somehow makes you the supreme knicks fan? Horsesh*t.

I guess according to you, most of the 18,899 on hand for the Sixers game were ship-jumping trolls with their chants and boos the other night. Funny concept, to call someone who pays money to see their them play a ship-jumper. I guess according to you, they’re too brainwashed by the MSM to see for themselves how the Knicks are playing right before their own eyes. I guess according to you, not only do people not have the right to theorize any change in a 6-13 team for improvement’s sake, but by extension, according to you, customers have no right to express discontent with the current product being marketed as the New York Knicks?

Good thing I disagree with you, BLANKET_STATEMENTS, on what constitutes a true fan.

And you know what? I’m hoping for a knicks win tonight, cause I am a Knicks fan, and it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks because I know it to be true.

This is a non-argument. I understand that $42.2 in losses compared with $45 mil of luxury tax is 93.78%. So the majority of the losses came from spending too much on salaries. Cry that song to owners that won’t pay money to field competitive teams. Unless you have substantial stock in Cablevision, the last thing you should be worrying about is how much is being spent on the Knicks. Geez.

  89. Knicksdee, it might be interesting to put up a poll asking, “what does it mean to ’support the knicks?’”

There are different aspects. Here’s a sentence: “I support the ________.” To fill in the blank you have the following options (Whatever you use to fill the blank, it means that you’re bigging up its strengths and downplaying its weaknesses):

    * franchise (nothing the organization does, from root to tip is open for criticism)
    * players (none of the players are open to criticism)
    * coach (coach nearly always makes the right moves)
    * ownership (willing to spend and publicly support their staff)
    * GM (nearly always makes the right moves)

If you want to duck an attack from the dawg pound, take heed of this note just in from Captain Obvious: the hotbuttons are zeke-as-coach, zeke-as-gm. I think you’re allowed to challenge zeke’s use of the rotation (starters, who gets mins, etc), but not to root for his firing. Certain players will spark debate over their ultimate effectiveness, and you’re allowed to second-guess zeke’s willingness to trade the guy, but you can’t run around saying it was a mistake for zeke to sign him in the first place. zeke, zeke, zeke. At the end, at this point in time, it’s clear to me the knicks and its fandom (and the media) live and die off zeke.

  96. “We should all be able to take criticism and given the forum defend our point or non point.”

your opinion African, has never been supressed here, neither has BARF’s nor has BLANKET_STATEMENTS, or anyone elses, not even TOM’s.

BLANKET_STATEMENTS wants an insurrection, then don’t make threats go out and do something creative about it. I was a knicks fan before BLANKET_STATEMENTS discovered the internet and founded knick fan membership, and I’ll be a knicks fan long after he starts saveisiah.com and leaves the name-calling to the children at the playground.

  98. We need to take heed to Knick D’s last post…

Everyone should be able to voice an opinion on not just this blog, but any blog without fear of reprisal, and worse, being called “non-fan”.

It’s got nothing at all to do with this being a “man’s blog”….

    We’re all men in here.

It’s about decency and being respectful of other’s thoughts and opinions, whether you agree or not.

I agree. 6-13, in terms of mathamatics, represents a losing percentage. as a knicks fan, I want the knicks to do better than 6-13. guess that makes me a ship-jumping troll on my own f*cking blog.

  101. I understand that everyone would be in a better mood if the knicks were in better shape than they’ve shown the last 10 games. I hope they can turn it around and start to kick ass but there has been little indication as of late that they can do that and I’m not going to pretend 6-13 is good because 6-13 IS NOT good.

I never called you a dictator so don’t get your panties in a bunch.
Pulling the plug on Statesman though, would or could be considered acts of a dictator.
I’ve said here many times, no one should be free from criticism on here.
It’s your blog, but you’re not immune from it either.

    BX:
You blog at your own risk. Whatever you say, you should be able to back that shit up.
That’s what I refer to as manning up.
We all cannot agree, and No, you don’t know that we’re all men here.
Some here act more like bitches than women.
If you cannot take the heat, get out of the kitchen.
So what if someone calls you a non fan, and you know you’re a fan?
    Would that get you upset?
    I call that manning up.
This is not for the faint of heart. If it were, there would be so many clowns on here.

By Peaceman on Dec 10, 2007 at 4:02 pm

  106. I posted here this morning (#30) because Peaceman?s little dialogue made me genuinely want to get a sense of how the last few weeks have been viewed by management?s most ardent supporters. In your own way, some here answered my question even more articulately than I could have expected. With fear of opposing points of view. In other words, nothing has changed.

I?m a little surprised by Peace because I meant what I said ? I liked his dialogue. And like any good writing, it has an undercurrent of complexity that makes you think about what makes these characters say what they?re saying, and what it REALLY means. To me, it suggests Dolan is making bad choices ? based on ?showing up the media.? And NOT on what?s best for the team. And I think that might be just about right.

Jay Bee shot himself in the foot with his distinction between shareholders and fans. I?m glad he?s satisfied that Dolan?s increased shareholder value. But I?m not a shareholder. I?m a Knicks fan. And Dolan?s certainly done nothing for fans. Also, while JB has trouble with this concept . . . Dolan had virtually nothing to do with increasing the value of the franchise. But he had a LOT to do with running the worst business in the league. And losing more money every year than any other team in the league. As a businessman, that?s how he should be judged. On losing $42.2 million this year. Not simply by the fact that this daddy bought him a business that will continue to appreciate in value every year no matter how badly they perform. (Can anybody name anything Dolan has done to add value to the franchise?) If I buy a loft in Tribeca, it?s going to go up in value every year, whether I keep it painted or not. (Just like MSG goes up in value every year.) If I buy a vintage Ferrari ? it?s going to go up in value every year, even if I don?t keep it maintained very well. I?ll lose all the classic car races I enter ? but the car itself will be worth more every year. The only thing I would have brought to the party is the purchase price of the car. Similarly, with Dolan: That?s all he brought to the party ? the purchase price. The Knicks are losing a lot more games than they?re winning. The business is losing money hand over first. But the franchise is worth more money. Good for the stockholders, I presume. Bad, bad, bad for Knicks fans.

If you read #30 as coming from a ?hater,? then you?re farther removed from reality than I imagined. I can?t say I understand why some bloggers feel so threatened by criticism of Knicks management, they need to attack the messenger, and need to claim they?re somehow ?better? fans. I hope every bit as much as any of you do that they?ll do better. I don?t believe that will happen without a trade, and probably a change in management. You do. That?s what makes horse races. That?s what reasonable people can debate. You?ve shown only disdain for a reasonable exchange of ideas, even when you?re approached with respect. Frankly, there?s a LOT more ?hate? in the attacks I?ve been reading than in anything I write. (Bisexuals? That?s beneath this site. Frankly, it?s the kind of attack Mark uses. Not very good company.)

I was encouraged by #73. I?m glad African and JB et al don?t speak for the blog. I knew there were reasonable guys here. That’s ok. I get it. I said I was interested in how Isiah’s strongest supporters reacted to the last few weeks. That was true, and why I posted this morning. Like I said, I got my answer.I guess I?ve learned something after all from the shipwreck that is Mark. I?ve learned to recognize when there is no hope of reasonable debate. If there?s a difference between being called a posette or a bisexual, I can?t see it.

  110. – Still in recovery from those two losses

    – The most dissappointing thin has been their lack of effort. last year they had fire every night, even when they lost. Like everyone else, i never thought that this would be an issue this year.

    – our team defense is atrocious. Why can’t we ever guard the 3 point line? Its worse than last year

    – I agree that Fred Jones and Balkman should start. or at least one of them anyway.

    – I like Isiah the GM, but can’t say that i understand Isiah the coach

    – I’ll reserve thorough judgement until the end of December.. unless the next few games are like the last few games

    – so far, I blame Jason Williams for everything! If he doesn’t hit that winner in game 5, Isiah doesn’t overreact and bench Marbury, marbury doesn’t overreact and go AWOL, media doesn’t overreact and…(okay, I take that last one back), there is no straw poll taken by Jamal, there is no overruling of straw poll, there is no locker room dissention… fuck “white chocolate”!

  113. Steph’s game against Dallas last year was phenomenal. If the Knicks turn it around it must begin with Steph who also needs a certain amount of touches to be effective (like Curry).

    – Trane, I’m an ardent Isiah supporter as you say. I am still a big fan of Isiah the GM and believe that the talent, depite a structurally flawed roster, is there to make the playoffs. My criticism, thus far, is with Isiah the coach. I undertand the very real possibility that some of his coaching moves and possibly the his handling of Marbury may have doomed this entire season. I want to wait to the end of December to for a fuller evaluation though.

You have to disect the word Bisexual when stated as a Knick fan!
What I meant by that is almost all over at that site jump ship
when we have yet to play 20 games? That being fair weathered or Bi!
This team has been hounded since summer time by Isola and company!
All of us here were at the site you now call home long before you got there!
I found your post demeaning in a sense where you brag about your Manhattan

  118. Again with this guy. Your post shows you are incapable of understanding opposing opinions. You only want to see what “we” think. Now you know.

However, if I shoot you down, I’m only speaking for me. Not for the blog. Never have tried to speak for KD or anyone else. You attack Dolan and Isiah with MSM propaganda and opinions posing as facts. I’m just letting you know that everyone in the world doesn’t agree with you. The joy that you get in Hahn’s blog when your cronies jump on board with you turns to anger when you come here and meet resistance to your argument/non-argument. It’s not your money. Get over it. If you were talking about basketball, you may have a different conversation. We’d rather talk about that. But for what you were spewing earlier, it’s just more of the same MSM opinion propaganda IMO.

I accept that you don’t like Dolan and Zeke. I’m just not drinking your kool-aid, nor do I need you to drink mine to be validated.

BTW - The agitation you’re feeling is called cognitive dissonance. Google that.

How can I or anyone speak for a blog?
A blog is a collection of different ideas.
Even the host cannot speak for a blog.
We all know why you’re here.
To rile up the faint of heart.
I’ve been reading you for quite some time now.
I do know your DNA, so don’t try acting innocent.

  121. Assuming that Dolan has given Zeke a vote of confidence, the players on the current roster must produce starting tonight. Even if Knicks defeat Dallas, Zeke has to be
on the phone looking to acquire players who can help the team or at least play with
the energy expected of a professional. As well as Nate performed against Sixers, I
am of the opinion that he was being showcased for a potential trade. At any rate, I
hope they can turn it around against Dallas tonight. LGK

    By D L T Knicks on Dec 10, 2007 at 4:59 pm

  132. As far as patience goes, I’ve been around the New York block.

    – When I was a child, I saw the Yankees go down 14 games, an ensuing media circus, and then come back and win the world series.

    – Then I got a little older and saw the Jets go 0-5 (New York Sack Exchange) and watched them make the playoffs.

    – In 1999 I read everyday how the writers pissed all over the team that almost missed the playoffs. I remember the van Gundy-Grunfeld back page soap opera. the I watched that team grab the 8th slot, upset Miami, go to the finals, and probably only lost because Ewing got hurt.

    – I then watched all the media experts tell me how Ewing was slowing up the team and how the offense would free up once he left. it has been a disaster ever since.

    – Last year I watched the media and Yankee fans work in connection to boo AROD despite the fact that almost any other player would kill to have the same year. I was told by other fans that AROD needs to go. This year he had a truly phenomenal year. This year during the summer everyone was telling me the Yankees wouldn’t make the playoffs. they did. And the fact that the yanks didn’t make the WS is really all about pitching.

    – Last year we heard fans boo marbury relentlessly in november and then cheer him loudly in March. We heard everyone calling for Isiah’s head after ‘the fight” and then the Knicks reel off a nice winning streak. We saw the Knicks play .500 ball from that point on untill the injuries hit.

Moral of Story: Real New York Fans have had a lifetime of training about not to go crazy when things get bad, even really bad. There is no getting around that right now is really bad for the Knicks. The last two losses were unnacceptable. But history suggests that keeping faith does not mean that you are “stupid”, “in denial”, or “blind”. It means that you have a firm grasp of NY sports history and request more time. Anything can and has happened in a NY minute.
