Knicks take on Atlantic-leading Celtics tonight

by knicksdefense on November 29, 2007

eddy curry

I took this photo in the second half of the exhibition game up in Boston–the C’s were up by about 25 I’m guessing at that point.

Yet we saw those same Knicks come out and compete against the Celtics a few days later in New York (ask Tom), and the Knicks actually won that game so it is entirely plausible that our team can come up with a win today, especially when you consider how well they’ve been playing the past two games.

Yes Reggie Miller had a few words for the Knicks in the tabloids yesterday, and Charles Barkley and Co. will probably have even more harsh words for Isiah and his Knicks–that much is expected. What will be more interesting for me to watch is how ol’ Kenny Smith speaks up about this team since he’s there for some of the games as a MSG analyst. Will he blast us like the rest or say something complimentary like he did in his recent article on Stephon Marbury? Regardless of who signs his paycheck, does Kenny think of any team as the home team besides the Rockets? It doesn’t really matter what the “talking heads” say on the screen, ultimately the game will be won by the better basketball team–assuming the refs keep their honor, which is no longer a given in this league considering recent events.

Boston is coming off a tough overtime loss to the Cavs–scratch that–Boston is coming off a tough overtime loss to LeBron James, so they’ll be eager to step back into their winning ways when they host the Knicks tonight. One thing is for certain: it isn’t going to be very easy to go into that building and get a win.

>>>

I’m still down in Florida, heading back tomorrow. It has been hard to follow the team and follow the defenders this week, but once I’m back in the NYC, you can bet the updates will be back up to speed. Thanks to all the defenders for holding the fort down and keeping this site poppin’ as always. You know you who are! I hope BARF and some of you guys do the play by play because there is a good chance I’ll be on the road during the game.

DaVonn,

THEY SUCK!!!

I hope the media kills everybody on this team tomorrow.

Nobody would be mad….at least I know I won’t.

The media is spewing their hate as we speak.

Erase this game and look forward to tomorrow night!!! LGKNICKS—-JUST NOT TONIGHT

3 DaVonn Jefferson November 29, 2007 at 10:01 pm

See how Crawford went under the screen again?

He’s lucky Rajon missed it.

4 Anti-NYSportsNews November 29, 2007 at 10:02 pm

Reggie Miller defending Isiah Thomas saying he’s not at fault—it’s the team fault—go head Reggie.

5 DaVonn Jefferson November 29, 2007 at 10:02 pm

How can you guys sit here and talk about tomorrow night?

You always say..”there’s always tomorrow”

Fuck that man….

6 Jay Bee November 29, 2007 at 10:03 pm

7 Orange and Blue November 29, 2007 at 10:03 pm

Hey

DVJ

Agreed that the performance is unacceptable totally unacceptable!

But I’m not handing my ass to the Dark Side MSM ok

Fuck that I’m no sell out!

8 Jay Bee November 29, 2007 at 10:03 pm

switching computers, brb.

9 Knicksome November 29, 2007 at 10:04 pm

Davis is doing bettedr than Curry!

10 DaVonn Jefferson November 29, 2007 at 10:04 pm

Rondo is playing better than any of our guards.

Remember in the preseason we were questioning his PG skills?

What do you have to say now?

11 bronxboy in Md November 29, 2007 at 10:06 pm

I’ve been watching the Knicks for the last 35 years, even used to listen to Marv Albert on the radio, and I’ve always been able to finish watching the games….

Until the last couple of years.

I mean damn, I love my Knicks, but sometimes they make the most ardent Knick fans’ stomach turn.

What’s the excuse? Anybody?

12 Orange and Blue November 29, 2007 at 10:06 pm

One last point about this “calling it tight”

It’s fucking bullshit. I said it’s bullshit.

Those dwarf ass players in green are allowed to hack the shit out of curry and any Knick going to the basket but if Curry mauls those little Bitches over it’s a foul!

Fuck you sell outs

Fucking Please!!!!

Weak!

Nothing But Actors!

No such thing as a level playing field

Curyy get mad and maul people so I can make your point for you.

Get mad fuck Get mad!

13 Anti-NYSportsNews November 29, 2007 at 10:08 pm

DaVonne,

I’m always stay positive and until the last hope has run dry.

If and when the Knicks beat Boston at the Garden this game would be lost and forgotten out of my memory. Boston doing nothing but protecting their homecourt—that all—just putting up a lot of point while doing it! No need to kill ourselves. Winning cures the lost of the last game that ailed us—remember that!

14 DaVonn Jefferson November 29, 2007 at 10:09 pm

O&B you said
“Hey

DVJ

Agreed that the performance is unacceptable totally unacceptable!

But I’m not handing my ass to the Dark Side MSM ok

Fuck that I’m no sell out!”

Listen bro…

Isiah is going to get fired…if you don’t realize that now your lost.

It’s all a matter of when he gets fired.

Let’s get it out the way now and just start to move forward.

The sooner we fire his ass the sooner we become a playoff team again.

This team has lost their desire just like Reggie, Marv and Fratello said.

This team is finished.

Watch what happens if we win against the Bucks tomorrow night…

Everybody here will be talking about how maybe we turned the corner….

Fuck that man.

How long can you defend this stuff?

15 Anti-NYSportsNews November 29, 2007 at 10:11 pm

Panty wearing Marv Albert can’t talk against the Knicks—-his Nets team got blown out twice in regular season by Boston—I’m still waiting for him to bring that up!!!

16 bronxboy in Md November 29, 2007 at 10:11 pm

We talk about respect..

We finally get a crack at a nationally televised game, and this is how we respond…

like a bunch of pussies…with no fuggin heart.

Reggie is right, it’s not totally Zeke’s fault. I’m sure he wishes he could loan Curry and some others his heart, cause he surely wouldn’t have went out like that.

That said, his coaching tonight leaves a bit to be desired.

17 DaVonn Jefferson November 29, 2007 at 10:13 pm

Anti you said

“Boston doing nothing but protecting their homecourt—that all—just putting up a lot of point while doing it!”

Are you serious?

Protected their home court?

Do they always protect their home court by leading by 40 something points?

Did you hear Marv say this is the biggest lead Boston has had in 7 years?

Read between the lines my friend.

You can believe in this team all you want.

If you want to see a real player…watch the next game.

Watch how Kobe single handedly (spell check) keeps the Lakers afloat and maybe even pull out the win.

Hey, want to know how good Isiah is as a coach…..

Where the hell is Chandler?

Is there not a better time to get him some action?

Mr Dolan, if you read this.

Please fire Isiah and start over.

The franchise is yours….make your pops proud.

Get us back to respectable levels again….PLEASE!!!

18 bronxboy in Md November 29, 2007 at 10:13 pm

IMHO…

It may sound silly, but it’s addition by subtraction…

Curry has gotta go.

19 Anti-NYSportsNews November 29, 2007 at 10:14 pm

“This team is finished.”

DaVonn Jefferson, shame on yourself for saying that and calling yourself a Knicks Defender. Where’s the hope, bro. Still early in the season to right the season, whether you like it or not.

20 Knicksome November 29, 2007 at 10:14 pm

What Eddie house is doing is what Qrich should be doing

21 Steady November 29, 2007 at 10:16 pm

Another throw-out game. Mama said there’d be days like this.

22 Anti-NYSportsNews November 29, 2007 at 10:18 pm

A lost is a lost—you dont lose more games just because you got blown out in one game. i’m remembering your words and not afraid to throw it it back in your face. But at the same time I know you are just mad—get some rest. Only one game, and first game vs Boston. How many left against them 3 more. If the Knicks win all three against Boston will you forget this blownout lost?

23 Steady November 29, 2007 at 10:18 pm

Anyone who wants to jump OFF the wagon, speak up now! ROLL CALL. I need to know where to apply my skip passes.

24 DaVonn Jefferson November 29, 2007 at 10:18 pm

Mr Dolan,

Please bring in Jerry C to run our ship.

With him, we have a chance at getting Kobe.
Ron will sign here next year if Isiah is here or not.

Curry, Lee, Balkman, Crawford, Mardy and our next 2 first round picks for Kobe straight up.

Charles is just laughing at us.

This is terrible….just terrible.

25 Orange and Blue November 29, 2007 at 10:19 pm

DVJ should have his KnicksDefense card revoked.

All that said the Knicks shit all over there chance at getting some national respect.

Despite that what stands out is that the team is just settling. Just settling for jumpers.

No driving! No attacking the rack. The refs should blow some whistles if that happened. But I see no attacking the defense.

26 DaVonn Jefferson November 29, 2007 at 10:21 pm

Listen to Charles!!!

If they lose tomorrow night…it could be his last game.

27 Jay Bee November 29, 2007 at 10:22 pm

This is a loss, but that’s all it is. You use it to get the selfish ones to see that their way doesn’t work. You use it to get effort out of all of them. It’s a bad loss. But it’s one bad loss. The ship is not sinking. But I’m getting the weights out for the rest of this quarter. Hit the weights until I fall out. Otherwise I won’t be able to sleep.

28 DaVonn Jefferson November 29, 2007 at 10:23 pm

“DaVonn Jefferson, shame on yourself for saying that and calling yourself a Knicks Defender. Where’s the hope, bro. Still early in the season to right the season, whether you like it or not.”

Uh, the hope is going on 6 years!!!

That’s more than half a decade…

My question is..

Where is the common sense here?

We NY’ers are the smartest sports fans in the world aren’t we?

29 Steady November 29, 2007 at 10:23 pm

That TNT bunk about firing IT is just made for TV. I feel bad for our bruh Harlem. We need to send a recon team out for him. Bronx, what’s good?
Modi, where are the Irish pubs in your area? Where’s the connected Cooleyhigh when you need ‘em?
Lemme strap up!

30 bronxboy in Md November 29, 2007 at 10:24 pm

Anti,

There’s a difference between not winning a game and not being mentally prepared to compete and getting your head handed to you……….

Tonights performance is unacceptable, period.

31 Jay Bee November 29, 2007 at 10:24 pm

Charles don’t know jackshi+.

32 Knicksome November 29, 2007 at 10:24 pm

We need a change right now!

33 DaVonn Jefferson November 29, 2007 at 10:24 pm

Doesn’t take a scientist to figure out the team we have can not gel together.

“DVJ should have his KnicksDefense card revoked.”

Wow.

34 PC November 29, 2007 at 10:24 pm

The Knicks are missing the two most important things in basketball. Defense and Chemistry.

This team needs to be dismantled. Starting from its biggest problem: Eddy Curry. He stinks.

35 Orange and Blue November 29, 2007 at 10:24 pm

DVJ

With that I might have to agree.

His players should publicly apologize to him and to the city of New York for allowing themselves to be humiliated tonight.

No excuses tonight had enough time to prepare for the game. It doesn’t seem like they did.

They just stopped fighting no fight in the dog.

I don’t give a rats ass if the refs are th 6th man on the court and if they are hooking up the C’s.

If the team played hustle aggresive basketball and the whistles blantantly worked against them then they would have a reason to complain!

36 Jay Bee November 29, 2007 at 10:25 pm

Charles + Reggie = Greatest Michael Jordan dickriders of all time.

37 DaVonn Jefferson November 29, 2007 at 10:26 pm

They actually might score 100 points before we score 50…

Are you serious?

38 bronxboy in Md November 29, 2007 at 10:27 pm

@ Steady,

Harlem is prolly in a state of shock, undoubtedly in hiding…

Can’t say I blame him.

39 DaVonn Jefferson November 29, 2007 at 10:29 pm

Exactly Orange and Blue…

Let’s not forget guys…we are Knicks Defenders..

Nobody said we have to defend this Knick team.

When I call myself a Knick Defender…I’m talking about the organization.

Do you honestly think if we fire Isiah…the media bashing would stop?

HELL NO!!

As long as Jimmy Boy is running this team…we will always have media backlash.

We will still be defenders even if we fire Zeke.

Amen Charles Barkley……

You may not like him..but you have to admit…

He tells it like it is.

40 knicksdefense November 29, 2007 at 10:30 pm

charles predicts Isiah will be gone by saturday if they lose tomorrow.
take that for what it is worth. charles has always hated the knicks, but obviously Isiah is failing the fans, the city of new york and the players may have given up on him. how else to you explain 100-51?

time to cut the cord. if you can’t get rid of dolan, than get rid of mills and isiah thomas.

fat guy in the crowd took off his knicks jersey and threw it onto the court. you can’t make this kind of sh*t up.

41 Steady November 29, 2007 at 10:30 pm

So all of a sudden DaVonn I’m supposed to listen to what Barkley says? You go ahead. While you’re at it, stand for sum’n.

42 Jay Bee November 29, 2007 at 10:30 pm

I want somebody to show me something. Show some pride for these last three minutes.

43 DaVonn Jefferson November 29, 2007 at 10:32 pm

Don’t forget to watch Kobe tonight right after this game.

Should be an excellent game.

Watch how he dwarfs the other so called “superstars”

By the way….

For all you people out there that have NFL Network…great game right now between Dallas and Green Bay.

44 Orange and Blue November 29, 2007 at 10:33 pm

I as a die hard knick fan deserve a public apology from this Knicks team!

But that doesn’t mean I will cease my vigilance against duplicitous members of the NY MSM.

45 Jay Bee November 29, 2007 at 10:33 pm

Is that Randolph Morris coming out of the tunnel? Maybe not this game, but I’d like to see him and Wilson activated and dressed.

46 bronxboy in Md November 29, 2007 at 10:33 pm

My son just called me and was like…WTF???

Are you serious?????

Those are your Knicks, Dad…..

I was like, yeah, for better or for worse.

47 Vic Corbit November 29, 2007 at 10:33 pm

Good night Defenders. I will leave with this thought, “Something in the milk is not clean”. Something is up and we will find out very soon. Isiah Thomas may have been advised that he is out. Just look how things played out. NO EMOTION, NO PASSION AND MOST OF ALL, FROM THE COACH. THINK ABOUT IT. IN THE NATIONAL TELEVISION FORUM????? Something is up. Until the next time, God Bless All.

48 DaVonn Jefferson November 29, 2007 at 10:34 pm

If I was Isiah…I would put the entire starting 5 in right now.

Isiah has to know he won’t make it another week…he might as well have some fun.

49 Orange and Blue November 29, 2007 at 10:34 pm

And while I agree with Barkley’s premonition it doesn’t mean I respect him one bit!

50 Orange and Blue November 29, 2007 at 10:35 pm

One hustle play clean block by Fred Jones.
