GOOD NIGHT.

No doubt Vic Corbit. As the news broke out last night I was immediately in prayer because I’m familiar with that Florida scene. It pains the heart to see the outcome remain the untimely and unnecessary end to a life of great promise. This incidence should remind us to be vigilant, alert and defensive. Read up on the counter terrorism tactics because they go on in the US EVERY DAY. It means something as simple as changing your daily routine or using an alternate route home. And if we must, Let go, let God.

Allah/Yahweh/Imana’s continued blessings.

NOTES ON THE FOLLY CHRONICLES

Folly Baby at #161,

Regarding my effort to preview the Knicks-Utah game, you said “ But I think it’s a waste of emotion to get too wound up over a game we know in our heart of hearts we have no business winning. How about we just hope for the best . . . .and leave it at that.” and “I refuse to get my hopes up for more than just a good, solid effort.”

And More Folly at #333

“. . . you should clearly see that I was only focusing on expectations for a win, about emotional investment. . . . I thought too many improbable things . . . would have to fall into place for my hopes to get too high for a win.”

And Even More Folly at #347

“Seems some of the rules are ignored by the designated referees in here if you’re an all-star defender. Woe be unto rooks. . . . Fine, but now I’m realizing there really is some kind of sem-religious aspect to this defender fandom, wherein a significant number of Defenders believe that their prayers and wishes actually give the team some type of extra power. I mean, I’m talking about beyond the potential effects of loud stadium cheers and a positive buzz in the media.”

1. Don’t take yourself too seriously man. There are no rules here, ‘cept, as Steady said, “Don’t Start None, Won’t Be None.”

2. I appreciate your migration to D Spot to be. I like your writing and thank you for your vibe; it gives me a reason to hold off bathing the little boy for another 30 minutes. Thanks.

3. GIVE THANKS. I thought you have already been welcomed before, but WELCOME again anyway. Be thankful and careful. Cooley has done great by taking your hand to give you the guided tour. You cannot get a better than to be embraced by Cooleyhigh, Steady and AntiNYSN. And now you are official, you got the “Hater/Rat” sticker slapped on your ass as you passed African’s cubicle. He’s pretty selective in that he doesn’t pat everybody on the butt, but how you handle dat be your business and will determine your longevity here. I for one will enjoy the entertainment. (Be advised that African is usually right in his assessment and is not afraid to say “Isetoldyouso.” So no one has any problem with you proving him wrong, if a rookie is capable of such a ting. I’ll be managing my expectations on that one though.)

4. Speaking of which, I put your quotes side by side to make sure my original observation was accurate, because you did seem to be putting your posts through the SPIN cycle with mucho bleacho. You may have cleaned them up, but I steal smell the Clorox. I think part of the problem is that you tend to be fairly loose with your language. One person’s hyperbole is another person’s, well, hyperbole.

For example, who are the “designated referees?” Do you mean to imply that Defenders have decided who here sets the code of conduct and response? Are you suggesting that the Defender Refs, like gambling NBA Refs, are being selective in prosecution of the rules? Huh?

Or for example, “a significant number of Defenders believe . . . . “ Steady kindly refers to me as a poet, but I am more like the Census Man who gets a dollar for every questionnaire he gets someone in the projects to fill out (you could make a decent wage every ten years or so in this gig). I mean, I sorta keep up with the comin’s and doin’s of the community and I don’t know where you get your significant numbers from. Are you referring to Cooleyhigh, the spiritual prayer leader, and anyone who praises his work. Sounds a little presumptuous and condescending in that this belief is not your cup of tea because you err on the “cerebral” lobe of your brain.

Or when you say “we know in our heart of hearts we have no business of winning” but then try to sell us that you were “focusing on expectations.” Last time I read it, to “know in our heart of hearts” has less to do with expectations than with a deep, ingrained heartfelt knowledge. Unlike African, I did well on my O Levels comprehension exams and I read you clearly to say that we really know that the Knicks are not going to win so why invest so much energy into that unlikely scenario. Or put another way, I REALLY DO NOT BELIEVE THE KNICKS WILL WIN.

I am not criticizing what you believe (yet), I am questioning how you are characterizing and re-characterizing what you have written. You do have the SPIN CYCLE running hot.

5. You mention “cerebral” but really your whole focus was “emotional”. It was all about you managing your expectations so that you can control the sway of your emotions. YOUR EMOTIONS. Ain’t nothing wrong with that. We all have our coping mechanisms and strategies to deal with our FANATICISM. We reveal them in a variety of ways which is one of the great things about the characters on this blog. If you read DaVonn during a game, Peaceman after a game, Cooleyhigh when he gets a little piss in his tank or George M. when he’s in a foul-mouth mood, you must know that each defender copes differently from the other; sometimes they surprise you and break out multiple coping strategies or personalities.

My main point is that you should look at the Defenders as the individuals they are and they will treat you the same. And don’t act like they’re all not smart enough to see through your not so sly putdown as in your “cerebral/spiritual” dichotomy” when in fact you are being just as emotional as the most FANATIC of us. You’re just trying to cope, like we all are. Join the club, don’t hate on the players.

(And btw, I already got your response about your words not being meant to be a putdown. I believe that, but when you cynically write about how most Defenders think their prayers transfer power to the team and label them spiritual and yourself cerebral – that my friend is easily interpreted as a put down).

6. Put Downs. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to address LGM quite some time ago when KnicksDefense formerly known as Starburyfan (note that Prince eventually reclaimed his stage name) gave us the Mark/LGM post, but the major characteristic of a troll is the tendency for a poster to introduce himself into a blogging community by insulting the intelligence or FANATICISM of other posters in the community before establishing himself. LGM entered the blog making cracks on DaVonn who was pissed that the Knicks lost and ranting about some OTP as usual. Yes, I cracked indirectly on everybody who was whining (like I was complaining a few games ago) but DaVonn knows what’s good, because he has earned, given and received respect. DaVonn and all of us have earned the right to complain about the team AND each other because we are clear about one another’s commitment to the team. Still that doesn’t stop us from getting on DaVonn or DaVonn from pimp slapping somebody who won’t get Kobahshi with it. Respect won’t stop Peaceman or George M or Statesman from stomping roaches in somebody else’s pockets.

So you might want to look at how you introduced yourself to the DEFENDERS to get a feel for why you are feeling like a “rook.” In fact, I vaguely recall (mainly because I won’t do the research) that you introduced yourself to me by making some type of crack that you cleaned up before I could accuse you of “Folleymocking me.” Actually, I just decided to ignore you because you didn’t know any better and the comment wasn’t interesting enough to hold my attention – not like these recent gems. Thank you.

“If you’re going to be here and you are going to offer an opinion. Be prepared to either stand by it, concede the point, ignore the responses or take leave to grow some pubic hair” is what my grandmother told me before I started posting at Knicks Defense. Weird advice, but not bad advice.

7. Spirituality. One of the great features, for me, is the diversity of content of this blog. Most of the posters migrated here for the “community” which focuses on basketball discussions and “opinionating .” One of the understandings most of us have in common is that “Basketball is Life.” In other words, we don’t separate basketball from our lives as fans or how the off-court world works. For some like me, I grew up with basketball as part of who I am as a person. For example, I didn’t need drugs or a therapist to deal with my personal problems, I just needed to go to a concrete court and hack some neighbors to escape and regain some composure. I just needed to be reminded that in life, like in Basketball, there is always another possession and if you extend yourself you can even steal the ball back and control the tempo of the game again. Basketball is life. And life, for many, includes spirituality and how one views and treats himself and others.

Cooleyhigh has taken this blog to another level for some. Perhaps I am wrong, but I do not interpret his posts as prayers for victory. Cooleyhigh helps remind posters that while Basketball is life, life is not about basketball but about how we travel through this earthly space and leave our imprint or DNA on the world around us. His offerings allow us to remember that
all that we do here is within a greater and more significant context. TMAN and Steady have always offered us that type of vibe and insight, Cooleyhigh took it to another level like BARF (and DaVonn) took us to another level with his insight and clippings.

Like John Q said, you can easily skip that stuff, but I wouldn’t dismiss it without understanding it, if you expect others here to respect your opinion.

And yes, some posters do believe that prayers impact others. Some fans do believe that if they watch the game a certain way or make a certain movement they may jinx the team. Some fans do believe that it is more than coincidence that their home team screws up when they watch the team. Even Michael Jordan believed that his on court blessings were impacted by those probably nasty UNC shorts he wore under his uniform.

Most fans do believe that their energy gives energy to the team; that their vibe placed out their in the universe, directed at the team can help or hurt. Is it true? Is it false? You don’t know any more than they do. In fact, their are studies that indicate prayer has significant impact on one’s well being. It is not a wonder that some posters believe that they want to convey positive energy about their team into the universe.

I always want to put positive energy out there. To this day, I enjoy the fact that everytime I watched the Cubs game when I was a kid and said Ernie Banks or Billy Williams was going to hit a homer, they did. (Oh Cooley, thanks for those precious Bulls memories. I bet we lived around the corner from each other).

8. At #347 Charliemacher says

“Rule #1 don’t openly doubt the Knicks will win a game (unless you’re LINJ-LNY who can cover with an artful “how-to.”). Correction at #350 “Rule #1 is DON’T EVER DOUBT ZEKE – unless you know how to write up advice on how and when certain players are used.

Don’t let the good vibe fool ya. You write like I get special treatment around here. . . .well, you’re right, I do, but you misunderstand. Most of us treat each other very special, usually dependent upon how a poster touches another with his words, vibe and intent. If I didn’t get questioned, queried, challenged, or criticized on my positions and edumacated on other views, I wouldn’t be here. I’m not allergic to praise, but I am not looking to be boosted, I’m here to be uplifted and supported. If you don’t expect to be challenged and you get shaken by every pinch or sticker that gets placed on your bottom, you probably won’t enjoy this experience.

I have had disagreements with many of the posters here and I hope to have more. Hell, I say what I write and sometimes I disagree with myself and I know it. And sometimes I don’t know I disagree with myself until Barf, Statesman or African tell me. We’re just bloggin’ baby and unless we “feel” negative intent, we’re harmless. But we will collectively slam on “negative and malicious intent” which I can best identify as “a poster’s tendency over several posts to demean and disparage the home team, as in Knicks and Knicks Defenders, with the purpose to humiliate and disrespect without any posted history of apparent good will towards the home team.” My definition identifies what we call a “Bostonian.” HA HA.

Man, we are here because we are FANATICAL about our PASSION for our TEAM. We are JOINED HERE now because WE BELIEVE in the potential of this team under this management, AT THIS TIME. That does not mean that we will not be critical. It is precisely because we believe that we may be more critical of the failure of OUR PLAYERS and COACH to do better. But make no mistake about it, MOST OF US EXPECT BETTER. We want these people to do well. We are not here because we EXPECT FAILURE or because we WISH FOR FAILURE. WE ARE CRITICALLY FAITHFUL. And if they don’t COMPLY, then WE WILL LET THEM KNOW, game by game, possession by possession.

Sorry for the long unedited missive Folly, but you piqued my interest. WELCOME.

8 Charles Follymacher November 28, 2007 at 9:06 am

Lives, thank you. I recognize that reply took quite a while to bang out, unedited as it is, and I am humbled you deemed me worthy of that effort. I will respond, but as I want to return the same consideration it will take me some time as I have much to tackle today. I think most of my reply will centre on the theme of mindset(s) and the lenses they create when viewing other people, ideas, life in general. I will also try to give a little more background about myself so that I may be better understood.

peace all.

Good A.M. Defenders:

Law of averages, if not odds, favor the Knicks tonight. Knicks have not
as yet won on the road and Boston has not as yet lost at home. Hoop equilibrium as well as poetic justice should therefore provide good karma
for the O & B at beantown. Knicks still have much to prove along with
ground to make up. That should be incentive enough. LGK

P-U-P,

The game is tomorrow brotha but its nice to see you are hyped a lil early.

I gotta get a chance to read the late yesterday posts but I’m checkin in. Be back later.

WOW!
Lives, you beat me to the punch. I was at the Swamp scouting the Nets last night. We got that!
There’s no way I would allow a response like Folly’s go without a come-back, but I couldn’t have said it any better myself.
I’ll just dwell on what Lives didn’t tackle.
Folly, you take yourself too seriously. WTF!! This blog needs you?! For what!
This community was well established before you, and when your sensitive ass is run out of here, it will still be alive and kickin’ in here.
Folly, you remind me of the girlfriend that needs constant attention to function.
“How does that dress look on me?”
“Why not wear the black one?”
“OH, you hate the way I look, you don’t love me.”
That’s what you little punk assed whine about others getting a free pass sounds like. Grow some!
Everyone on here hears it when they need to. Even our host, so stop feeling sorry for yourself, and stop seeking coddling. Man up or get the fu*k out.
I do remember when LGM was on here, you were the one that supported his every word until someone labeled you MSM.
I’ve been watching you and your comments since. Your statements in regards to the Utah game was in line with, it would take miracle for this team to win. Your opinion, nothing’s wrong with that, but don’t try to extract pity from anyone when you start hearing about it.
I’ve called out imposters many times on these blogs because I read between the lines.
I’ve got no education, not “cerebral” like you, have no job, on welfare, have no comprehension, can’t read well, but I smell the rats! Reveal yourself.
Cooley:
Do your thang. It’s very useful here. Let the demons squirm in the face of the Word. As it was written……

What’s up. I’m the prodigal son. Lost but not forgotten. Gonzalez couldn’t find his own nose. Barf got me from the basement.(lol)
Drink a Carib for me.

TNT analysts are gonna kill us tomorrow. Reggie, Marv and Fratello. Every one of them has beef w/ NY. I hope our boys stuff Reggies words ( ” The knicks are a league wide joke” ) down his smug throat.

For all those religeous people here, don’t get me wrong guys. I’m no godless heathen. I just don’t attribute everything in my life to God and his goodness. I like to think that he gave me the wherewithall to think for myself and not rely on the divine to guide me.

15 HarleminMD November 28, 2007 at 10:41 am

We had our asses handed to us in preseason too. Can’t forget.

It’s going to be a battle for sure. I like the Marbury/Garnett dichotomy. Can you imagine if we really start to mature this year and challenge for the division title? More flavor in the stew.

Reggie Miller is becoming annoying pretty quickly. I always respected his play, but his analysis is like Madonna, going for that shock. I guess it worked for Barkley, but Barkley was respectful of other players, a little more diplomatic.

Have to admire a man that will not wilt when the majority is against him, calling him a loser, unintelligent, disruptive, sneaky, evil, criminal. Tough as nails. He had a weak moment this year, looking hurt. But he is human.

Keep fightin’ baby. You’re an inspiration.

16 rush November 28, 2007 at 10:49 am

St.George and Vic Corbit give it a rest with your biblical bullshit. There is no god and there never was one. You are fools to beleive in this baby Jesus crap. God was created by people in power to control slaves, so they have something to look forward to after they die but not before that. Christmas was created to sell you shit and make money for the smart folks.

17 HarleminMD November 28, 2007 at 10:50 am

I can’t understand the Nets. Great point guard play, great permiter players, an emerging shotblocker, a designated hacker, and yet they are losing.

There is a lot of talent in the league this year. Memphis looked good against NJ. That little PG from Villanova is tough, and Rudy is coming into his own. Add that to the European duo, and you have a decent team.

And Philly beat Milwaukee! WTF!! Every time I look at that roster, I am amazed that they are winning. I guess Mr. Cheeks isn’t so “unintelligent” either, huh. I’m sure MSM will say that it is because of the Great Adviser over there.

18 JohnQ November 28, 2007 at 10:58 am

Harlem,

I think I said before the season that the Nets would miss having Moore doing the grunt work. Sometimes even I can be prophetic.

19 MODI November 28, 2007 at 10:59 am

What’s up fellas. Trying to cut through all this MSM noise so I just posted “The Isiah Rules” on Ballhype. if isiah is getting killed in MSM, so should john Paxson. Feel free to log in your opinion: http://ballhype.com/search/?query=Isiah+rules

yes, deep post Lives?

Is it me or does Reggie Miller always dog his ex-pacer colleagues coaches or players

20 rush November 28, 2007 at 11:03 am

Harlem as much as everybody talks about defense this and defense that, NBA and basketball in general is all about offensive flow and team play. When you have guys like Carter going one on one at the end of every game its a 50/50 proposition at best and thats why Nets are a 500 team.

21 HarleminMD November 28, 2007 at 11:23 am

True. Moore does have a solid midrange shot that was perfect for the pick and pop. They seem to be built for an offense like Phoenix. I haven’t watched them that much, but yeah, Carter takes a lot of wild shots from what I see.

I bet Kidd is still crying over losing Kenyon.

Barkley was the first Knicks-hater, although I understood it because he was mad at the Ewing treatment. It made sense.

I don’t understand Miller. He stated IT was a good playcaller, but there seems to be some bad blood there…

22 HarleminMD November 28, 2007 at 11:27 am

“After vowing that this three-game trip would be different, the Jazz suffered another loss to a presumed Eastern Conference doormat.” Salt Lake Tribune, 11/28/07.

23 BARF November 28, 2007 at 11:31 am

still trying to catch up on all the reading. read lives roasting of charliemocker…good stuff. ChuckFM, I been told you all that stuff. You been welcomed here.

But as African might say:

Where there’s smoke there’s fire.

And you my friend, have been awfully busy putting out fires no one else is seeing. Hmmm…

Aside from the drama, I liked the Varejao sidebar. But as others have said, we have plenty of Varejao’s.

We have plenty of good, young indians on this team. What we lack are leaders. If there are LEADERS out there ready to be traded or willing to be a Knick…that’s what needs consideration. We have role players. Plenty of them. A few scholars too. The next 2 trades need to be upgrades. 1st trade should upgrade our SF position. 2nd trade, possibly an upgrade from the first spot off the bench(whoever that may be).

Hope to be back later. I’m out to ABC Carpet…trying to find some cheap carpet tiles for the home office. If anyone has a better idea, let me know. My girl’s got me like a chicken without a head. She has plenty of ideas without one solution. Sheesh. But I’se loves her.

*************

The word’s out. NYC MSM is all smoke and mirrors and the national media is starting to get wiff of the stank that is their coverage:

Of course, it helped that the Knicks led for most of the night. Had they been trailing, there might have been some nastiness. But the lead never felt safe, there was plenty to criticize and most of it went unnoticed. In other words, this is no dungeon of torture. If the fans were so upset with Isiah, they would be looking for any reason to boo him.

In other words: WHATS THE BIG DEAL??!!

AUDI!

24 Peaceman November 28, 2007 at 11:44 am

HarleminMD
Barkley hates the Knicks because he was on the team that
the Knicks swept the opening playoffs in 3 games under Pitno! Strickland, Jackson, Tucker,
Mason, all grabbed the Janitor’s wide broom and swept it across the floor at Philly!

25 JohnQ November 28, 2007 at 11:46 am

Forget Varajao. We have no need to import Side Show Bob from the Simpsons. Wouldn’t he want to be a starter anyway ? The only spot we have to give is SF and AV can’t play that position.

26 HarleminMD November 28, 2007 at 12:00 pm

Ahh, don’t bring up Strickland. I almost handed in my fanatic pass because of that trade.

27 rush November 28, 2007 at 12:47 pm

Verajao can definitly help us. He is an energy player with size and length.

28 African November 28, 2007 at 1:09 pm

Barf:
I read that SI article you offered, and I must say, I agree with most of it.
I’m on recored for having Craw come off the bench and start Jefferies at the three with Q at the two.
The writer mentioned mixing the defensive dogs off the bench with some of our offensive strength. Sounds like a good idea to me.
The starting line up needs that stopper to slow these opposing scorers, before they get hot.
This team is much better that the results have shown.
Zeke needs to hire a coach and go back to being the GM.

29 JohnQ November 28, 2007 at 1:11 pm

African,

It seems a few of us have been saying that since preseason. Now if Zeke only read this blog………..

30 cooleyhigh November 28, 2007 at 1:16 pm

WOW! Double WOW! LIVES, one of the MOST USEFUL POSTS EVER! It should be required reading for all NEWBIES on this STRAND!

Your post is evidence (Gotcha Steady) that you are clearly OUR RESIDENT POET and (New Title) RESIDENT TRAINOR…You’ve earned it!

Defender Announcer/Sir Barf, Mr. Thomsen’s article lifted the veil of Hypocracy a bit on OUR NYMSM, but he also took some unnecessary swipes at Zeke and OUR TEAM. He is entitled to his opinion, but I cannot and will not overlook that Mr. Thomsen felt it necessary to disparage certain Playas, but in the next breath shine a positive light on some of our playas on the bench. He cracked me up with the bench strength being able to help US overcome the 2 1/2 game deficit, but last I checked our bench generally plays with some of those same starters he trashed. He did point out one thing many Defender’s on this THREAD expressed during the Summer regarding the defensive balance in the starting line-up, but seriously neglected to point out that Q (injury and all) has played outstanding D and has contributed to our recent success in a myriad of ways. He failed to mention that fact…Uh Huh! I guess I won’t be reading much more of his Crappola…No blemish on you ANNOUNCER…You’re still Top Dawg…

Folly, your reply to LIVES, indicates a willingness to remain open and thoughtful in your approach, which bodes well for you on and off the THREAD. But, I must tell, AFRICAN (THE OFFICIAL THREAD WARRIOR AND TRACKER) will sniff you out if your shyt ain’t correct, and we Defenders trust his sense of smell, but we’re also willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. Hang and in their and don’t be square, please never again refer to Nationalism to explain your behavior. I know and work with plenty of Canadians, and they can as aggressive as any other group of people. Be careful, the Defenders are very diverse and have planted their feet on many soils…We’re Global Folly…SOme of US did leave the Bronx to go to Harlem…Don’t believe hype and don’t RUSH (Mr. No Credibility or SPINE, picking on our boy VC, while still using Baby Powder on your young azz bottom; Praying for you Smuch, excuse me, I meant Rash, sorry again, I’m such a back slider, save me Lord)to conclusions…

Modi (Resident Scholar), you are 1st Ballot HOF on KNICKDEFENSE! You keep churning out solid and edgy comparable analysis. You force US to understand that things are never just Black or White, but different Shades of Gray/Grey.
Expand our veins my Good Brother in your search for TRUTH…

Great morning posts Defenders! BLOGZILLA, LIVE’S has submitted the KNICKDEFENSE.COM Training Guide and Disclaimor. I know ALL are welcome, but please ask the NEWBIES to read the fine PRINT…Some folks don’t know how to enter a room like Vic and St. George. It’s definitely a skill…LOL LOL LOL

I’ve got to RUSH off Defenders… Have a productive and constructive Hump Day Defnders! I’ll get back atcha!

Keep it POPPIN!

31 African November 28, 2007 at 1:20 pm

Think about our next hurdle, Boston.
Who’s gonna stop Ray Allen and Paul Pierce? Which one would you put Craw on?
The mismatches would be everywhere with our current starting line-up.
Zeke would probably put Marbury on Allen, but that takes too much from Steph in order to hide Craw.
Jefferies should start on Pierce, and Q should play Allen. Steph then, should handle Rondo.
Pierce always kills us. I’d like to see a bigger mobile person guarding him from the jump.

32 HarleminMD November 28, 2007 at 1:38 pm

Right there wicha bruh. I’ve been saying that we need to start a natural SF since Summer. Plus, we have about 8 on the roster.

33 Jay Bee November 28, 2007 at 1:50 pm

I was beginning to bang my head up against the wall until I found this blog. I will post more in the near future, but for right now let me just show my gratitude for you creating this venue for Knick fans to grind out what it will really take to get our team to the ship. Not another blow up, but effort, defense and more Balkman. We have a great team right now! Our pieces match up with anyone; most of them are young and can be here for some years to come. I’m probably a cup almost full kind of optimist when it comes to this team so some of you may come to think of me as unrealistic as I’ve been labeled on other boards. But I still see 50 wins as I have gone on the record and won’t back down from. As for these other blog sites (puppets and sheep), I don’t know about taking over, but I will be dishing out humongous servings of humble pie with or without ice cream at the end of the season.

34 St_George November 28, 2007 at 2:14 pm

Rush, JQ: Good day:
There is no god and there never was one. You are fools to beleive in this baby Jesus crap.

A good friend once said ” there is not a God for the man who has all his brains taken out of his head because he cannot conceive at that time of anything, as a matter of fact he is nothing just a shell of organic material. Once the gift of life is given he receives spirit and the ability to conceive, thus he begins his journey for development and as that person grows he is able to understand the greater mysteries of this life. When I speak of mysteries the African forefathers defined my-stery as My Story or me-story. This was our way of defining where we were in our development spiritually. The fact that you may not have begun your journey is cool, some of us have and may be at a different place than you because of it.

Look I realize this is a Knicks BB Blog site so let me apologise for taking this diversion. This me-story is King David’s story, its Moses’ story but it’s also Charley Ward’s story and Allan Houston’s story and Nat Turner’s story (remember him) and Garvey’s story But it’s definately not His-tory

Today’s Quote
If you are going through any part of hell…keep going.

Today’s Scripture
I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:1-2).

Today’s Word
What are you looking at today? Are there challenges in your life to overcome? Don’t just look at your problems day in and day out, lift up your eyes and look toward heaven. You will naturally move in the direction that your eyes are looking. If you are always looking at your problems-meditating on them, feeling sorry for yourself, telling everybody about them-you will become consumed by them. But when you look up, your life will start to move up. When you keep your eyes on the Day Star, it is also a sign of your faith and expectancy. The Bible tells us that faith is what moves the hand of God. When you have an attitude of faith and expectancy, you open the door for His power in your life. Decide today to focus on the goodness of our God. Lift your eyes and heart to Him and begin to praise Him with your words. As you lift your eyes, your help will come, and you will live the victorious life He has in store for you!

A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, today I choose to lift my eyes to You. I will look to You for my help. Thank You for showing me Your salvation and deliverance. I just wnat to thank you Lord for what you ahve done for me and mine. Amen!

Keep it POPPIN DEFENDERS!

AFRICAN,

You never change your STARTING LINE-UP for one team or one game. When you do this you are not playing to your strength. To approach
78 games w/ one line-up and change for just the Celtics will put you at a major disadvantage. From a pychological
point of view you lose before you take the court. The opponent made you BLINK. This is what hurt Dallas against
Golden State in the playoffs. Avery adjusted his line-up before the series, and they were defeated before the games started.
Your “WILL” should be greater then the other teams’s will. Your BEST should beat their BEST!! This makes a statement.

I do believe Zeke is faced w/ a dilemma that EVERY COACH has at one point during their coaching career.–Do you play
your FIVE BEST PLAYERS, or do you play your five that PLAY BEST TOGETHER. There are times when these will differ.
This was at the root of Steph accepting his benching, and the MSM attempting to keep Steph at odds w/ Isiah. Steph rightfully
believes that he is a much better player then Mardy, but he did not not see Isiah was looking to MAXIMIZE CHEMISTRY, and not
make him the ScapeGoat. If Curry does not STEP UP his game, he may have to anchor the 2nd unit. The Spurs have proven that
Chemistry can trump Talent, (it never hurts to have Duncan also).

Fellas how much longer does Follymacher THERAPY SESSIONS last. There are several ways to “PULL THE CHAIN”. Follymacher is pulling
w/ a smile. However he is still PULLING.

Peace & Blessings

Reggie Miller’s comments are rally cold blooded, especially for a guy that has his head up under Greg Anthony’s skirt. that’s where the joke really is.

Commentary coming from the EC where there are no Reggie Miller jerseys

George,

Don’t lump me in w/ Rush bro !!! I believe in god as I said a few posts ago. I just don’t rely on him to make my decisions or guide my life for me. He made ME fully capable of doing those things. I think he gave me all the help I need in a fully functional brain & a healthy body. After that, I feel its up to each individual to make the best out of every day and all situations that arise. Leaning on god for support is an insult him. Did he not equip you w/ evrything he did for me ?

41 Steady November 28, 2007 at 2:54 pm

You did get me Cooleyhigh. I was expecting “prima facia” and you know it. BTW, we now know where we can expect skip passes instead of alley-oops on our rush to the basket. Let those skip passes go OB because the culprit shall sit or play alone with the pudgy kids a la the Scholar. ;-)

BARF/ANNOUNCER,
While you were @ HD, did you notice any remnants that suited tu reyna? Sometimes you can get some good deals on cut pieces that people return, that are the end of the roll, etc. Key question is the office in a basement or a main floor? What kind of traffic are you expecting? You may do well (price-wise) with a dark-tone remnant. That’s what I did for my HO in my attic.

Defenders,
I also read a couple of the links provided here. You will note my joke to our lil’ bruh DVJ about pasting our community living room with BS and Paris crotch shots from the Enquire. Still, in reading them I see some (for you Cooley) prima facia evidence that these guys are definitely lurking here and plagiarizing Modi. The guy in Chicago wrote about the “wacky” events surrounding the Bulls and Knicks. Hhhhm! LGM “said” he was based out of Chicago. And now this guy in SI makes a point about the rotation and who should play the SF position. As noted above, we’ve been there and done that. Since he was reading COSSELLOUT (agreeably a prerequisite reading for membership in this community, right ANNOUNCER?), he made sure to couch his terms so that he did not come across as being inciteful or spewing vitriol. Many of us have said this, the MSM and media in general can be a very powerful and dangerous force and these hacks are playing around with the many sheeps that walk and read their bunk. At least here we get to use the “Just bloggin’” for cover ;-) The Anti- ABS in the MSM just print bunk as news whether or not it is fit to print.

King,
Are you in a different time zone? Are you the Saipan Knickster? It seems like you’re always a day ahead in the schedule. I can relate. I remember watching that missed trey by Starks on ESPN Deportes in Cuenca, Ecuador. It hurt just the same if it was tomorrow or yesterday. :-)

JohnQ,
Re #413, I’m addressing you here as the Public and not as the Joker. Peaceman once gave the solution to hating announcers. Turn the sound off your TV and listen to John Andriese through your computer on NBA League Pass. Moreover, there is a slight paradox in your formulation. The Divine IS the “being” that provides you such “wherewithall” you mentioned. One popular Christian myth suggest that humankind’s first sin was based on his/her intent to know right from wrong and good from evil because doing so would make him/her equal to Jehovah/Yahweh the Divine One. Thus, this great gift that you now have and the expression of that gift here in this community is the result of that discernment. Your preference of the NYK over the NJN or the LepriC’s is also an expression of that “discernment”. And according to other Judeo-Christian mythos (compared to other religious mythos), when you recognize that the gift of discernment you so cherish comes from the Divine and that His Son died so that you can continue to haggle with your undeniable “wherewithall”, you are considered “saved”. Now JohnQ, I did not intend to “preach” to you here nor prostletize. I’m just in the moment and I’m Steady. When you explained your experience as a baller, you invited me to a seat in your living room. Now all decorum and etiquette rules suggest that sex, politics, religion are all taboo in that setting. Still, the blogosphere has not established such hard lines and it is so convenient for expanding our human existence and fanaticism. Moreover, what I just explained does not one bit deviate from your stance that AV will not add value to our pound this year and that the NYK have the make-up to beat the LepriCs despite the pundits ;-)

John Q. You’re right. My error. I’m too anxious to watch Knicks continue their winning ways. Both Boston and N.Y. have another day to rest up and think about Thursday’s game.

Knicks will at least have Jeffries available to help out on Paul Pierce and perhaps on KG. Unless I am mistaken (again?), Jeffries was not available for exhibition game against Boston at MSG, where Paul Pierce put up high numbers and played with as much intensity as he would during a playoff game. Holding Pierce in check is key to stopping Boston. KG will do his usual damage. E-City must box KG out and at least keep him off the offensive glass. I have seen both Step and J. Craw contain Ray
Allen to reasonable numbers. LGK

Statesman:
I do agree that you don’t switch up for one opponent.
My issue is that we should have done this from day one. This three guard bull is what gets us in trouble to begin with.
Q is too small for the typical three in this league, and Craw is too poor defensively to start on any NBA team.
The best players? You start the most balanced team to compete. The best players could be three shoot first guards.
You need balance, and that includes guys that plays defense, that can control the opposing best offensive threat.
Bowen starts before Manu. Manu is the better all round player.
This three guard shit has got to stop. Yes, Q is a guard.

Amen!

I think I have read “The Salary Cap Myth” and “Weatherspoon Into Wine” 5 times. Great stuff. You’re probably going to get some hate mail for calling out Paxon. Defenders got your back.

You can add Danny Ferry to that list for signing Larry Hughes, Viageo debacle, and losing LeBron to NY in 2009.

Listen, stop disappearing on us. Tell Welfare to send your checks via internet, so you don’t have to go to the office and get picked up by police for fighting with your worker!

Agreed.

One fascinating element for the Pro Coach I suspect is managing egos. Thus, when you say that E-City is your franchise C then you make him take the 1st Jump Ball. However, I liked how IT used the bench at “teachable moments” when Eddy would not provide help defense. Notice how he responded by the end of the game with a critical block. I’m adding a wrinkle here: The culprit shall sit and learn from the error of his ways.
