How can Alahn Hahn say Frank Isola “loves the Knicks”? Does Alan read his columns?

    John Q and DLT

Read your ops on getting J-Craw on the bench and either JJeff or Balkman at the three.

John Q point noted that to make up for Q’s question at the handle having Balkman at the 3 would be preferrable to having Jefferies at the 3 to start the games.

That doesn’t mean that I discount the fact that Q is a selfless warrior willing to do whatever necesarry for the Knicks to win.

  • Orange and Blue

I’ve been catching up on all the reading and am soon to hit up MODI’s latest pearl.

Coming from a person from the “DEEP SOUTH” far from the border of course who has been in a godless country, CUBA, and raised in a country where many Gods are worshipped, Peru, I have a perspective on religion that sees it in both a positive and negative light.

On the one hand, knowing of the poverty of Latin America from my travels, religion fills a much needed void where despair, and inequality are strong. It provides to many the one item that seems to carry many to the next day. HOPE!

On the other hand as Karl Marx once noted religion can also become the “opiate of the masses” and in many ways that same curative that provides hope, which is based on a faith of such strenght and intangibility, can also blind a person to the importance of doing there part to transform their material existence be it through individual or collective action. Protestant work ethic and class struggle in essence.

On a deeper note, I come from the part of Peru that is spectacularly known for Illapa the thunder god and for the dance of spiritual resistance to the onerous totalariansm of the Spanish Conquest, the Takiy Onqy– Sikness dance the Peruvian equivalent to the Ghost Dance. The spirit of resistance to the intolerance of totalitarian strains in society even religion must always be cautiously and vigilantly criticized with fully open eyes. I think all can understand what I am getting at with extremes provided by the American Christian fundametalist Rightwing and their counterparts in the jihadist Middle East wherer fanatics in taht realm dream of Sharia Utopias. Such sad examples of extremism had at one time stolen the voices and visions and gods of many a man and woman of the Americas and imposed Catholicism.

Despite that much sorted history and culture essay, I don’t see anything wrong with the well intentioned spirited charge to raise the hopes of those who seek it so long as in the end the preachers understand that while we may call the spirit by different names in the end if we aknowledge that the essence of the spirit must never be drained of diversity then we are all free to turn to our cup of hope.

Here’s to my faith that the Orange and Blue will have those rats in ink and paper tasting salty nuts in beantown.

Booman: Thanks for putting up that post #488 re: The N.Y. Observer article–written no doubt during the Knicks darkest days of November.
The writer (name not worth remembering) contends that the fans “Hate” the Knicks, forgets that the metro sports media was primarilty responsible for drumming up the boobirds and “Fire Isiah” chanting. The entire article demonstrates the conspiratorial nature of the beat writers who are determined to denigrate no wonder that Jim Dolan has severely restricted the collective MSM to the coaches and players.

    Peaceman,
Re #481: I am Steady. No doubt about it. Will always be, in fact. However, I’m also an African. That’s all I will say.

    Statesman,
I do welcome the censoring here if at anytime I become UN-Steady or myself become ensnarled in the Veil of Hypocrates. I have strong belief in this community that you can keep me Steady and true. I’m not covetous of OTPs, I do not, could covet other bloggers’ cloak. I do not like green eggs and ham. I do not like them Steady I am.

Useful post from the NY Observer boomann. Very useful. I would add however that we had the same conclusion here dating back last month first broken my Lives (dubbed the Poet by Cooleyhigh) and then further elaborated here again by Steady. Then Anti- ran with it and you know Anti- when he starts to plasterin’ the blogospere. It was on when Lives posted about MSG-HD: MSG says here fans, get it yourself, who needs the MSM. These guys are crying now about the lack of access then they don’t mention their duplicity in the ABS finding. That ABS and her legal team used them (the NY MSM) like a Ribbed-Roughrider. Since they were only getting the ABS’ side of the story, those MSM boys now crying about processed turkey luncheon meat can now snack on salty nuts.

    Hey D L T,
As promised, here are the 2008 NBA Free Agents. With our Scholar scheduled to be gone, we can go after Artest if he opts out as speculated here. Corey Magette or Elton Brand would be interesting additions if the Clips do not re-up them. Intriuing considerastions include Ben Gordon and Luol Deng both of whom may serve salty nuts to Paxson as parting gifts. At your request I provide this information. You will note that Statesman wants me to remain Steady and not wear the Veil of Hypocrates and speculate about OTPs.

Point counter-point when a liar gets caught with their hand in the cookey jar

    1. From the article mentioned earlier by BARF “Life in Knicks Hell!” Mike Vaccaro’s spew the following venom!

‘”[]… The Knicks? They inspire something else. They inspire anger. They inspire hatred. … There is an unmitigated loathing for this team, for the men who run the operation. … Knicks fans hate these Knicks. HATE them.”

But in the SI article from Ian Thomsen “Looks Can Be Decieving,” Mr. Thomsen writes the followin about his observation of the Knicks v. Utah Jazz game this past Monday:

“Of course, it helped that the Knicks led for most of the night. Had they been trailing, there might have been some nastiness. But the lead never felt safe, there was plenty to criticize and most of it went unnoticed. In other words, this is no dungeon of torture. If the fans were so upset with Isiah, they would be looking for any reason to boo him.”

What does that point counter-point contrast show me? Basically that some fat slob with the aid of some vision correction contraption firmly in place before his very eyes, is nonetheless so outrageously hell bent with hatred against a team he is suppose to cover that he comes off as so far off of the actual pulse of most average Knick fans. Not only does he get it wrong with his the Knicks are a despised team rant but he shows how little touch he has on the pulse of the city’s team he purports to have a “handle” on.

Is it possible that such incompetence is rewarded with a paycheck?

Heck even that Same “Life in Knicks Hell” article pointed out the following which well shoots Vaccaro’s blind rant in the foot.

“Knicks fans, however, are a resilient bunch. Six of the first seven games this year were sellouts, and in a victory against the first-place Utah Jazz on Nov. 26, they actually stood and cheered at the end.”

Again Ian Thomsen appropriately begs the question. If Thomas and the Knicks are so despised then the “fans” would have had and found plenty of reasons to boo Thomas and the Team. I didn’t hear such booing, although we came close as the lead slipped dangerously close away in teh 4th quarter of that game.

  • Steady

Good pick up Orange & Blue. We’ve been missing you here.

    KFLL

  • Orange and Blue

    Point Counter-point

    2. Simple there is a saying that the Pot should not call the kettle black.

Hmmm how many in the land of ink and paper spilling vitriol all clamoured about Me-burry’s lack of professional for not working within the rules that his boss and or bosses agent- Isiah as GM and Coach– had set out for Me-Burry following the Knick’s loss to the Miami Heat. The new rule being that Marbury must sit for his lackluster play.

Interesting how instead of seeing the MSG media policy as a set of rules that set the parameters in which these media hacks, who dare to call themselves “journalist,” should attempt to creatively explore there craft, these hacks merely cry and whine like the ABSs and cheap ho’s we at Knicksdefense all Know them to be.

Moreover they compound the problem by taking on a totally unprofessional attitude about the challenge and situation they’ve been cast in. For as John Koblin’s “Life in Knikcs Hell” article points out the highly unprofessional Frank Asswhola responds to his challenges in teh following manner.

FI: ‘“You can get stale on the beat,” he continued. “I shouldn’t be doing it anymore after 12 years. If everything was status quo and if everything was great, I probably would be the wrong guy to have on it. But now I’m the right guy to have on it because they’re trying to screw me over, and by trying to screw me over, it kind of lights a fire in you a little bit. It makes you more motivated to find stuff out and expose what’s going on here.”’

JK: I told him it sounded as if he was sticking around out of spite.

    FI: ‘“Absolutely,” he said.”

Now theirs an example of unprofessional behavior.

WELCOME TO THE POTS CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK NYMSM!

    Statesman,
Thanks for completing the thought in #493. ;-) (You know what’s good). I see you’ve got no more than 30 minutes of love/burn for Q. I can buy that because I would only quible with you over 5 or 8 more minutes. It could mean an eternity in the NBA if you’re leading by 3 points in the closing seconds. At that time, you need good players with good handles, good rebounders, good FT shooters and guys who D-up well away from the ball. I submit here that Q does those things well and the prima facia evidence (a la Cooleyhigh) is IT’s use of Q late in games. He’s always among the last men leaving the court. You and I bot agree that Zeke knows what’s good.

Another point about Q is your assessment of his slow feet thereby negating his value on D. I see Q playing D a couple of ways. In fact, Balkman takes the same approach. Recall we say here: Don’t start none, won’t be none? Well, I see Q and Balkman playing D in such a manner that denies their man the ball. They run down the O-player through hell and highwater until there are about 6 seconds left on the shot clock. If their man ends up with the ball, his options are either shoot or pass down low if that team has a Post-up-Player. Chiding Q about foot speed is relevant if he’s guarding your driving 2-guard or a slashing SF. Usually Stephon or JCraw has that assignment. I submit here that Q is the prototype for help defense should the rest of the fellas get on da program.

Hey Statesman/Harlem/Defenders, did you folks notice that baby triangular trap the NYK were putting on Deron at spurts? I liked that. It requires legs and a motor as displayed by our Lil Big Man (N8 da Gr8). That was the Nasty part of our NYK Nice-n-Nasty. It worked and placed a lot of pressure on their PG. Rondo will buckle under that pressure and he will be waiving to Doc for blow. That pressing D is the new D set that was just installed and more is to come. IT is rolling it out in waves and prolly (a la ChuckFM) expects the team to be gellin’/hummin’ by February. So I agree Peaceman, I feel a mini-run coming on.

    Statesman,
You have JChuck starting at the 2-guard. Me, I have JChuck on the bench because he is a liability as JCrawful. Now if his shot is on, then you have JCraw on your hands, I say he’s as good as advertised and rivals those OTPs coveted by certain community members here. By the way, I’ve got nothing but love (metro) for JCraw. It’s his awful cousin JChuck who boils my blood. JChuck be palmin’, skippin’, loafin’, slippin, not husslin’ and just missin’ on all cylinders. My love for JCraw began before the 52-pts. beauty. I can’t understand nor will I accept that the lone guy who drew the HOF ABS’ praise in the MSM was JCraw for his D is now incapable of staying in front of his man or D’ing up. We all have seen his penchant for running below the screen/pick instead of above it or through it. He should sit for that. We have seen him palm and skip carry the ball. He was told about it in the pre-season when refs were using his video clippings to demonstrate the infraction to the rest of the league. He should sit for that. He has a nasty handle that can still break down Ds and ankles and thus create lanes for drive-bys, pull-up Js or easy oops for the bigs. He should sit when he stops being that type of creator. I am convinced that JCraw can play D like Stephon has demonstrated because JCraw’s long arms enables him to get pokes and negate entry passes to the post. I suspect that he’s consumed/overwhelmed looking to put all his arsenal together considering the shots are not yet falling. Hell, they’re not falling for anyone. Zach would have a couple of 40-pts nights if the shots were all falling in the hoop.

And BTW Defenders, I’ve seen this thought expressed here before. If I’m JDolan, I don’t spend a dime on another Coach and ride IT hard like a mechanical bull. Zeke has the dream job Parcells always talked about–he bought the groceries so now he gets to cook the meal. I’ve said it to this community before that Hanners did a bang-up job this summer. Still, this team is to be coached by Herb after Marbury leaves the team (barring any firings by the owner) and/or if IT wins a ship before that. Whatever the stress may be from doing both jobs, IT should just suck it. St_George could tell ya’ll about being from the EC and “havin’ tree jobs mon” (head, chief cook, and bottle washer). ;-) IT is getting paid beaucoup bucks in the No. 1 market and should just suck it up. Riley the Control Freak is doing it in MIA and so can Zeke.

Yo Fellas: NBA League Pass is the JOINT as you say!!!!!!!I’m enjoying it every day!!! Hey Anti- Thanx for strolling down memory lane!!! I’ll e-mail you soon!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • saw an “interesting” charles burnett film last night, then got home and received some nice family news so wasn’t much in the mood for replying to african last night. things are extra gettin busy for me of late so i can’t afford to mess around diggin thru the archives again to find this and that. you’ll either have to trust me (ha) or dig thru the stacks yourselves (to save time, just put “folly” in your browser’s find feature) when i say it was not in fact the case that “you [follymacher] were the one that supported his every word [italics mine] until someone labeled you MSM.”

i’m not sure if he came in before the whole curry-is-devastating debate, but that’s when i recall noticing him because he seemed about the only one willing (besides me) to object to that “devastating” characterization. and he did so fiercely and with pretty good humour which at times i publicly backed/cheered. it was some pretty good back and forthing and he gave as good as he got (if not more).

there were some guys who piped in with a middle road opinion, but after a while the argument began to go too sour and even attempts by lgm to come partway were met with stinging rebuke by the opposition. by this time i pulled back from that pit b/c the vitriol was getting too amped.

if you care to look, i DID at one point tell lgm that one of his comments was out of line (and i think he then apologized). but i’m not the least bit surprised that African doesn’t remember that because it doesn’t fit his fixation. *shrugs* wottayagonnado.

was lgm a troll? at first i didn’t think so. however by the time that poll rolled around i wasn’t so sure (so i didn’t vote at all). no question, he did get pretty nasty but if you’re being honest, you know it something that by and large you guys egged him into. some guys can let the testosterone get the better of them. i think that’s part of your ‘testing’ methodology, to push guys, keep raising the level of venom, attacks on manhood etc to the point where a guy goes over the edge — then you get to point your finger in toldyaso glee, “seeee! troll! msm! rats!”

to my recollection, he started off in a kinda firm-but-fair mode and from there it started to take weird turns, even after he agreed with LINJLNY on some points.

anyway, back to me. again, my point re the utah jazz wasn’t so much about “oh we’re gonna looooose!!” it was to say, hey, it’s (highly) unlikely that we’ll win this one, let’s save our big rah-rah for the lots of other teams we know we should be able to beat. i said it in my original comment that anything can happen, sure, but the “possible” isn’t “probable” here. go back and re-read it. it’s not greek, it’s not doublespeak. open your minds to the possibility (nay, probability) that i’m not in fact the enemy as “cautious” as i am. Lives summed it up in saying it’s basically my way of coping.

as far as the folly-the-fairy stuff, hey, let’s put it this way, african: who do you think is more sensitive, the guy who cries “foul!” when hit with the worst insult or the guy who uses the worst insult at the drop of a hat? i’ll borrow tinkerbell’s wand, tap it on your loose anus, and wait for your usual reply. :P

i’m finding this pool is too much crack for me to handle. i’m hooked and i need to scale back. i think i’ll try checking in only once or twice a day (after work?) instead of having this thing open in a browser tab all day. i needs me some KD methodone. now where’s a good dallas cowboys blog? (oh no he di-int! lol :D )

peace of mind and spirit to all

    CF

p.s. oh and for the record, i was called msm well before the lgm chapter began.

  • oh and one mo’ to cooley: yeah, fair enough, don’t mean to imply that americans have the world’s monopoly on aggression. anyone who’s seen an nhl game knows canucks gots some, too. i was just talking in a general way (and prolly more specifically about the canucks i deal with on a daily basis). our constitutional motto, ferchrissakes, is “peace, order and good government!” by stereotype, there’s prolly tons of american mid-westerners who match the common temperament of the average canadian. bigcitiwise might be a different story. mebbe them canucks you deal with on the regular just got infected by that NY stance ;-)
