whats up defenders,
I hope you all had a happy thanksgiving with your family and friends. I’m still down in sunny Florida (currently about 80 degrees) where I’ve got no internet, hence no updates to the blog in the past couple days. I did want to give you a new thread for today’s game against the Bulls however. Let me know how they look–game is in the garden, right?
both these teams are young, and both these teams have expectations much higher than where they currently sit in the standings.
let’s see what happens.

Worst yet….Boston is the best place in the World to be with renal problems!
Steady the NY’R…
My fellow NY’R…haven’t you learned that nothing in this life is FREE?
Minnesota is looking at the Megamillion. They’ve got three major deals coming off the books, one potential medical retirement and a couple of your centerpiece studs as assets. The N.B.A. should do something these tank jobs. They were leading by 20+ @ half-time and then proceed to score 12 points in the 3rd and 4th Qtrs each. They are 1-10 and the Coach and GM get no MSM hyperbole. I LOVE NY.

Peaceman,
As a fellow NY’r, shopping back in the day on 116th. Did you always take the first price? Did we not all learn full well & good from our neighbors on Canal Street, in the Garment or the diamond districts? Not for free I know but damn, at least negotiate a little. We ain’t that desperate.

Grandma,
They are the unwanted, they come from places that nobody really wanted them.
Marbury, Zach, Crawford, Curry, Jefferies,…there called “grunts Grandma”
the unwanted…..down here maybe they can find themselfs? There the bottom Grandma,

Dag, Peace with the Platoon reference. Write On.
Peace or Police (was that you African or was that AKA Peace) that fighting over one brain cell line was a hoot.
Defenders, this is definitely a Peace rumor I would take seriously even with his well documented case of terminal OTP. Peace be sittin’ and spookin’ by the door. But Peace you did color that rumor kinda grey. Was suggesting that RonRon might request a trade similar to saying that SAC was ready to make a trade. If so. what do you think about Bibby coming this way too. Bibby is not Starbury, but the good part is that Bibby is not Starbury. If this is going to happen, I hope they make it quick instead of dragging it out like the Bulls did with the Kob situation.
If Starbury played like November didn’t exist, we wouldn’t need to be so harsh. DLT at #74: All that is what makes us laud Stephon and at the same time what makes us frustrated over recent events. Part of the value of his efforts is impacted by his persona as a marketed personality; some of his unnecessary acts help diminish the value of his efforts. Better discretion and decisionmaking is not too much to ask of the brother.
Steady, it’s good to read you this early morn or mid-night. Lots of good stuff. It’s good to be “just bloggin’” instead of lamenting a “floggin’”
Yes, the BARF-MAK Shiney-Stuff Awards rift. Those were the days. It’s hard to remember that the Summer Blogging was off the chain. We did a lot of traveling: from an Awards Show to a Revolution Inspired migration, from the Daily Dump to Wacky Island to the Defender Fort of Fortitude. Those were the days.
And at #103, sharp catch Steady. Minnie’s at 1-10, cheating early in the season and we don’t see them again until Mar. 22, 2008. Stern trying to punish Boston during the megamillion drawing (Boston didn’t get the 1 or 4 spot)for tossing games late in the season got McHale’s attention. He already felt the sting of Stern’s extension cord when he was coveting Joe Smith, he doesn’t want to lose out this time. I didn’t think of it like this before, but he traded Garnett for Jefferson and a high lottery pick. That’s not too stupid. JUST BLOGGIN’
Can’t believe Boston is 11-1. Still 70 games to go though. Boston coulc still end up 11-71. HaHaHa. I guess not as long as Minnesota, Miami, Chicago aren’t part of the DLeague.
Folly at #82. Nice quote. Blogzilla, I’ve never said it before, but I really like having the comments numbered. It is very useful.
Man, I forgot how good winning makes me feel, even against a dog of a once-playoff bound team. LGK.
Note to Peaceman: You can find play by play commentary during game or later by going to http://www.espn.com Then click on NBA and then on Scoreboard. That will bring up the Knick game for that day as well as others. By going to the game summary, you can find the play-by-play review for the game. Scoreboard also has the game box scores. Good luck. Lives; At least the bleeding has stopped for a day. I was encouraged by fact that
ZBo had an off night, he managed to come up big time at the end of the game. Something that Frye rarely did. Knics also are unlikely to miss 16 foul shots too often. Except for ECity and ZBo who had 5 turnovers each, rest of Knicks only had 6. Balkman looks as though he has his health back. When Q gets his elbow healed, we
sould be o.k.

We finally won one. See how great the defense is when other team cant hit a basket? Bulls are terrible and we didn’t play well either. We are not gonna beat anybody if we play like we did yesterday. There were some signs of improvement but we need Zach to be better to have a chance Hope we come out of this funk soon.
I am not excited one bit by our win yesterday.
They didn’t even have their best player and we finally played at full strength.
I’ll be excited if we can win hopefully 2 games but realistically 1 this week.
If we beat the Celtics I’ll be thrilled.
Defenders,
Good PM! It is great to see and read so many posts filled with enthusiasm and purpose and humor. Great stuff Defenders! It’s amazing what a win can do for your psyche, as evident on this THREAD. So we can only imagine what this has done for the psyche of OUR TEAM and the COACHING STAFF. Confidence is an interesting spiritual attribute…
Don’t get it twisted, NONE US should be satisfied, and I am confident OUR TEAM realizes the Bull’s game was just one stop on the journey, and there is much work to be done. But, you have to start somewhere…
Lives, Steady, DLT, Peaceman, Statesman, O & B, Post-Up, Folly, General, St. George, Modi, and DVJ, YOU DEFENDERS have been holding it down, and your dedication to this forum is commendable and a BIG ASSIST to BLOGXILLA/KNICKDEFENSE in his absence (Sunnin and funnin)…I truly enjoyed catching up and reading the diverse opinions about BBALL and about the TREMENDOUS OUTREACH by the players, and our observations of the opposing teams. If the TEAM just happens to Peek through the Back Door every now and again, they will recognize OUR commitment to them, each other, and our fellowman. I said it before and I’ll say it again, Knickdefense.com should be REQUIRED READING FOR THIS TEAM…
You better believe the NYMSM is defintely peeping in and so is the Nat’l MSM. Probably those ALPHABET BOYS TOO…
Today, I am going to enjoy reading all of your posts, chime in every now again, but I want to inhale and absorb and digest the knowledge and revel in the BROTHERHOOD that exists on this THREAD. It lifts me up, and it confirms my Faith in Humankind, and that we must not live by sight, but by thy spirit…
KARMA DEFENDERS, KARMA…
Post on Defenders, Post on!

Peace — it’s an interesting deal. Tough to give up Balkman, but you gotta give to get. Also, you want to gamble that won’t be a lottery pick, right? Especially once we have Artest. Actually, it’s a pretty good deal for both sides. (I think I do that if I’m Sacramento – a baby RonRon and a #1 pick.) But there’s one problem. It doesn’t work with the cap. Don’t the Knicks have to throw in Malik or someone to make the salaries match?
Good PM Defenders,
Just bloggin’ here.

Guys
Thats not funny! Renal disease kills a lot of Childeren,
just waiting on the transplant list!
I’ve been following today’s thread relating to the good deeds from the players on our beloved team. It’s an interesting conversation about how the team in terms of their off the court contributions are deserving of better karma or fortune.
Sadly if any of us were part of the flock, the johnny come latelyfan and those whose fandom attaches to strings accesible to the lesser puppet masters of the press soap opera plots, then we might come to think that the players ont his team are very deeply deserving of ill fortune and bad karma. Look deeper to what is aptly here called the “veil of hypocrites” and we’ll see that the dark hearts of those who desire this teams demise are the same type of trolls that would treat phenomena which they can’t understand with the derision of whishing that phenomena and all associated with, with an incurable disease. Moreover the ogres behind the veil of hypocrites the proceed to take a knife to the festering wounds they themseleves have whished upon their prey.
I for one as well as many Defenders here applaud the MSG media policy. Why? The most important reason for me is that given the seriously skewed and tabloid nature of the MSM why would anyone allow such yellow “journalist” access to sound bites that these “reporters” have time and again readily stretched and besmirched beyond belief. Second I am not the turn the other cheek type and I can appreciate that proverbial FU to the MSM hacks that Dolan gives out with his stone wall media policy.
That said these MSM hacks have shown their ineptness as reporters for going like flies on shit to the cheapest story instead of taking the time and resources to assess what other stories or reason might contextualize the subject matter of their work. Case in point, only a week after a Minnesotta area paper- and the somewhat respectable NY Times– published a story regarding the death of Marbury’s mentor did the Daily Skewed follow up with such a story themselves. But of course the damage had already been done, and the team was in the mire of yellow influence chaos.
One would think that given an absence of access these “reporters” would work harder than merely starting every critical story with “rumor has it,” “an undisclosed source says” etc, etc. Shit makes me vomit do some work and follow all angles not only the bad. No! But to do that would be like these ogres doing as they should do instead as how they say.
Defenderst least the bleeding has stopped for now. I was encouraged by fact that ZBo had an off night, he managed to come up big time at the end of the game. Something that Frye rarely did. This is a test. I have had trouble putting up any post last evening and this morning. If this goes
through, I will try again.
Defenders: For Peaceman those inteested in following the play-by-play on line, you can go the ESPN
website: http://www.espn.com and then click on NBA and then “Scoreboard” where game summarises and box
xcores are posted. Ussually on the page that reviews the game, you can access the play-by-play.
It seemed like Balkman is a good fit at PF during small ball when Lee isn’t as effective as usual!! Must be the time he spent at PF during Summer League.BTW O&B,they have to do that to sell papers. They have ZERO access to the team and less than ZERO writing skill as exhibited on their TABLOID writings.(TABLOIDS-National Enquirer and papers like that)In other words nothing CREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is more insuferable is having a “sports leading” network like BSPN consistently cite to articles from Frank Asswhola. It would be akin to the Washington Post or NYT citing to the National Enquire.
There are lazy too me when stuff like that happens constantly.
Peaceman you said:
Thats not funny! Renal disease kills a lot of Childeren,
Yeah you are right. It’s a tough thing and one that all should be sensitive about. That is why I took great care not to use the term Renal.
this is one of those type of days. I just had an employee misprocess something that I said innocently in response to a question. The person processed my reply in a way that I totally did not mean in my response. Reversing the perceived damage was akin to hugging a mirage it became more difficult and unfulfilling to do. I guess sometimes individuals can innocently get in2deep and like rockin in quicksand the more yu try to reach for a lifeline the deeper you get.
No offense of disrespect intended in either case. For pennance on this issue, I will study more about the effects of that condition on children and see if there is a way my company can get involved in doing something positive about it.
Peaceman said that he missed Barf’s on line commentary and peiodic posts on the running score to Knick games. Theee
is a way to access the running score by:
(1) Go to the ESPN web site at http://www.espn.com
(2) At the ESPN page, hit NBA
(3) At the NBA page, hit “Scoreboard”
(4) At the Scoreboard page, find the current Knick game.
(7) Click on the current game review.
(8) At the review page, hit “Play by Play.”
Barf’s running commentary is actually more fun. LGK

If so—cool—because so am I.
And you too ChuckFM?
O&B, I’m right ther with you on that post!
True dat St_George,
We’re not laughing at the critical nature of the condition. My aim was to look at some homeopathic cures like I know many are available in the old country. In fact, during my research, many homeopaths (which I know you too follow Peaceman) suggest that a homeopathic treatment begin prior to any transplant or more invasive cure or procedure. There are some herbals or homeopatic cures online but I trust them less than what I would have found myself if I was still on terra ferma in the motherland. I’m certain that her family is putting all sorts of energies and resources to resolving the problem. While in Nairobi this summer, it would have been useful (for Ron Ron) to speak to the elders there because this condition is not new to this world. Though it is a very painful condition, some patients living and managing the symptoms/conditions related to it (the adults at least) have resorted to humor as therapy. On this I’m serious, there may be a relation to all the muscles. You know how excessive laughter brings on the senstation to P? I $#!+-you not. Go figure!
Not viewing it as pennance St_George, the humanly Defender response is to simply DO SOMETHING wherever or whenever your inner spirit tells you that something needs to be done. E’riting is saaafe
KFLL
BTW to the rest of the community–regrets for this digression.
Here’s a little nugget from Hoopsworld:
There was a running joke which made its rounds from one end of the Mile High City to the other last season which noted the team should actually be called the “Enver Nuggets” since there was absolutely no “D” in last year’s rendition of the Denver Nuggets. While most fans got a quick chuckle out of the punch-line, head coach George Karl wasn’t laughing. Karl came into the 2007-08 campaign determined to get his team to play better defense.
The results were mixed in the early season. After an emotional loss to the New York Knicks dropped the Nuggets to 2-2, the team traveled to Boston and was annihilated by the Celtics in a game in which they trailed by 39 points at the half. At that moment, it looked like Karl’s message might have been falling on deaf ears.
“We caught (Boston) after a game in New York that took a lot out of us,” Karl told HOOPSWORLD recently. “It took a lot out of our coaching staff and the people in our organization. We really wanted to win that game. So you go into Boston and you think you’re ready, you think you’ve got the tank full, and you run into this beast. I don’t think I’ve ever been down 39 at half-time. I think that was a first in my life.”
Karl called the loss one of the worst of his coaching career. When I brought Allen Iverson up to speed on what Karl had said about the loss, Iverson replied: “That’s crazy because that’s the worst one I’ve been a part of in my 12 years, too.”
Peaceman @#90
I wanna hear more on that Artest deal you mentioned…….what ya got?….any sources in print?
The crazy thing is; as much as the Knicks are derided for lack of D (and rightly so) there are very few teams in the NBA have any defensive focus. I am not sure if the new NBA rules make it difficult to play solid D, or the modern day baller just doesn’t value D. teams like the SA Spurs, Pistons and lately the LA Lakers appear to be the teams most committed to playing defense. This probably explains why SA and DET are getting the bling. What I don’t understand is SA and Det have proven that D wins jewels. Why aren’t more teams taking defense seriously. During the Ewing/Oakley era they said it made for boring basketball but teams were winning with it. In today’s eESPN highlight era there seems to be more glitz but less substance.
All this N-othing B-ut A-ctors highlights only league must be frustrating to real ballers who leave it on the floor every night like AI or KG. I wonder why MSM aren’t talking more about the league itself which is responsible for not selling a substantive product to the fans even though the fans are paying more. From my observations down here in the EC the league is not as exciting as when Ewing was doing and Michael was doing and good D along with a great game plan ruled. We understand the need for glitz, Phoenix has a lot of Glitz, Dallas has Glitz, Golden State has Glitz but 3 out of the previous 4 NBA championship teams have proven you need a balance of D & glitz. Why don’t coaches/players/teams understand this?
Modi
I was wondering if you were going to or would be interested in doing a comparative analysis of the News coverage fromother NBA cities in which the local NBA team has gotten of to a less than stellar start despite “high expectations.” Is so just recall that the local Knick “BEAT wrongers writers” all predicted the Knicks would finish under 500. So here then why all the fuss. If you do such a comparaison let us know how the slow starts are covered? Are injuries pointed out? Are other factors taken into account? Especially interesting would be a comparison of the takes by the respective columnist.
A list of Teams to assess
Houston Rockets
New Jersey Nets
Miami Heat
Chicago Bulls
Washington Wizards
Anti, yep, I’m a sci-fi fan in general…St_George, defense is relative. Back in zeke’s day, good D meant holding a team to 75-80 points, nowadays, that number’s been bumped to something around 90 (the ole first team to 100 usually wins, rule)…O&B, i think all those teams, except rockets, have in their favour some history of overcoming bad starts. bulls fans patience however may have run its course.
Charles
“i think all those teams, except rockets, have in their favour some history of overcoming bad starts. bulls fans patience however may have run its course.”
Pointed noted but would the Miami story be different in the sense that they have one “superstar” and a fading “superstar” now merely “star” level talent in Shaq?
The knicks don’t have a player with an NBA officiating favorable forcefield the likes of Dwayne “you touch me it’s a foul” Wade!
Also a valid point can be made that the Nets are a deeper and more talented team than the team that won back to back Eastern Conference Titles. Perhaps in an improved East it won’t translate to a juggernaut early season record but the team has been mediocre since Frank’s been at the coaches helm.
Rockets can no longer blame Van Gundy for holding them back.
Modi
I am getting the impression that the MSM has caught a good wif of the substance of your Book of Isiah. I listen to BSPN to sour my liver and give me indigestion after a knicks loss– my way of doing penance for wasting my time watching a game ending in a loss.
BSPN now seems to put forth the conceded point that Thomas has brought talented players to teh Knicks but that he fails miserably in bringing in players that “mesh” fit together that are seamless fits, etc. etc.
What’s you retort?

Defenders,
It is always so comical to read the ranting and raving of NYMSM hacks that were and are as athletic as a Thumb Tack. I believe it is today’s NY post, that shows a photo of a young kid holding a sign saying ‘I am ashamed to be a Knick Fan’ but the young lad is wearing a Knick Jersey…Talk about Skullduggery…VERY SILLY…
I myself Defenders, tend not to read most articles, because the writers don’t have access so they make it up as they go. I’d rather rely on my lying eyes…LOL
Also, I know this will ruffle some Defender feathers, but the changes in the rules to loosen up the game on the defensive end has not necessarily made the game more exciting. The Magic/Bird era until the conclusion of the Jordan era, the game thrived, it was as exciting game and the league built its brand on the back of players that were rough and tumbled, that took good shots, and gave plenty. The DREAM TEAM was made up of players that appreciated physical play and took no prisoners…Who remembers Barkley’s behavior in the Olympics. Let’s cut to chase here. That brand and style of Basketball was dominated by players of color, except for those ballers in Beantown (McHale, Bird, Ainge, Chirs Ford, and Roby, were straight up thuggers on the court, and you had to respect them for that; remember the close-line jammy jam on Worthy in the Finals). The BEST BALLERS DURING THAT ERA WERE Brothers due to the physicality required. Athletes became the flava of the day and BBALL skill was an option. But the majority of the audience had changed, and the shirt and tie crowd could not and would not be ignored. I personally dig Mr. Nash’s game, but in that era, he would have never won an MVP. I think Stockton was better, and he never did, but he was one tough SOB on one tough azz team. Also, during this time the rise of 24 hour sports coverage was in its infancy and it too has changed the perceptions of the masses with its Highlight focused snippets and entertainment slant, which makes offense all the craze. Today we see a bit more balance, but more so in the other sports verses BBALL. Don’t recall the last time BSPN showed the best defensive plays of the night for basketball; I could go on but I’ll stop here…All I know, THE MAN WITH THE GOLD MAKES THE RULES…Once again, I am not looking for confirmation, nor am I looking for agreement. Say what you will, but IMHO everything is this country is based on Race and Class, and the last time I checked, it hadn’t changed…Just bloggin

That’s why I wrote what I wrote about these dogs—spread the word. These NY Sports dog(writers)are not worth paper their ink is printed on. There’s more value when reading our toilet tissue after it’s use, then reading these dogs.

There will be a few more apologies for the NYMSM to write. The same cats who derided the Big Fella as being unapproachable and a media hater are now saying sorry in hindsight because they now realize how good they had it back in the day.
Hey NYMSM and BSPN,
Instead of IT crying or pleading for his job through the MSM, it is them that is crying for their livelihoods through more access. Write what you want MSM, come watch the game and report what you see. Rally the fans! Show the pudgy kid who may not be able to do a chin-up as your lead. Treat all NYK fans like sheeps and tell them what to do or how to behave after they sit down in their seat with their tasty treats clasped between their laps. And enjoy your cold revenge stew.
