knicks play bulls for worst record in the east

by knicksdefense on November 24, 2007

whats up defenders,

I hope you all had a happy thanksgiving with your family and friends.  I’m still down in sunny Florida (currently about 80 degrees) where I’ve got no internet, hence no updates to the blog in the past couple days.  I did want to give you a new thread for today’s game against the Bulls however.  Let me know how they look–game is in the garden, right?

both these teams are young, and both these teams have expectations much higher than where they currently sit in the standings.

let’s see what happens.

Now that’s what Peaceman, Anti, Modi and the King were talking about. And me, I’m Steady.

Gotta keep the intensity and killer attitude. Notice no boos at da Gahh-Den!

Agree Steady.

IT proves once again that he is a Genius. Scheduling the AFTERNOON game allowed the
Bulls to hang at SCORES & other Strip Clubs. Let’s Switch the Celts game to noon.

Peace & Blessing

States with a little AH transfusion in that Daily News humor.

I’m setting the over-under on Q’s rebounds today at 16. Any takers?

8 STATESMAN November 24, 2007 at 2:35 pm

‘Lives’,

Not sure what you mean. Have not read MSM in last 4 days. 31 pts in 1st half, says
the Bulls have been hangin.

Peace & Blessings

9 Charles Follymacher November 24, 2007 at 2:36 pm

what a crap game from my boy zbo. argh. will he an curry combine for more rebounds than total of TOs + PFs?

10 Lives In New Jersey. Loves New York November 24, 2007 at 2:36 pm

States,

Alan Hahn has been known to credit IT with scheduling genius to help the Knicks. Everything but his coaching and the Knicks play are responsible for wins.

11 Lives In New Jersey. Loves New York November 24, 2007 at 2:37 pm

Richardson has 13 rebounds.

12 Lives In New Jersey. Loves New York November 24, 2007 at 2:38 pm

At least Curry jumped at a shot.

13 Lives In New Jersey. Loves New York November 24, 2007 at 2:39 pm

Time for Curry to get some rest.

14 Charles Follymacher November 24, 2007 at 2:48 pm

Q: 14 rebs!

15 Lives In New Jersey. Loves New York November 24, 2007 at 2:48 pm

Curry with 17 pts and 5 boards

Randolph with 9 pts and 1 booard in 20 minutes. Go figure.

16 Steady November 24, 2007 at 2:48 pm

Z-bo’s off today and he does not play to his other strengths when his shot is not falling. Thus he sits. We need E-City fresh for the 4th run so lets go small ball.

17 Lives In New Jersey. Loves New York November 24, 2007 at 2:49 pm

Randolph is going to ask Q for some of those boards back. Lee also took one from Curry.

‘Lives’,

I read-through your man AH early on, and I would never repeat his BS. My sarcasm was misunderstood.
I was referring to one of the BS allegations that ABS made in her trial. Remember she said Zeke
wanted to schedule more afternoon games to allow the opposition to hang out at the Strip Clubs. I
thought the league made the schedule, and she was just throwing junk at the wall. Unfortunately it stuck.

Peace & Blessings

Eddy worked on his FT this summer and it shows. Steph comes off to a mild applause.

20 STATESMAN November 24, 2007 at 2:52 pm

Man this is confusing. The SMALL FORWARD is rebounding like a Center, and the Center is rebounding like
a SMALL FORWARD. Go figure.

At this point we’ll take it from wherever it comes as long as we win.

Crawford 2 for 7

Nate 1 for 5

Randolph 4 – 12

Credit Zeke for sitting him down.

Defenders

Victory tastes sweet! Defenders, we can exhale until Monday and I look forward to the dialogue and analysis on the THREAD…

THE STREAK HAS ENDED! Hopefully we are witnessing the beginning of another type of STREAK.

It’s called WINNING! Next up, UTAH.

Keep it POPPIN!

33 Peaceman November 24, 2007 at 3:35 pm

Ok we’ll take it but this team has yet to play a good ball game!
Van Gundy replaceing Skiles along with Mullin as GM? lol

34 STATESMAN November 24, 2007 at 3:37 pm

We can Exhale!!!

Steph had a good game. Zeke knew what he was doing. While it is great Steph found religion, he
lost the Killer Instincts, that usually comes w/ the CONVERSION. To Steph life was great win or lose.
The benching made him ANGRY, and he plays better while ANGRY. Let’s keep Steph ANGRY, so he will
stay focused and understand that Winning does matter.

Let’s Go Knicks

Peace & Blessings

35 Vic Corbit November 24, 2007 at 3:40 pm

Happy Holidays Defenders and victory is sweet. Hey Steady, good looking out for the shout!!!! Utah is in town Monday and the streak will reach 2.

36 Orange and Blue November 24, 2007 at 3:43 pm

What a relief

We got a win!

Now lets see if the team can build on it.

Still I feel a lot of wide open jumpers were left open for the bulls that we were fortunate to dodge.

Still a win is a win they need to improve on this and pick out where they could have been better.

37 Vic Corbit November 24, 2007 at 3:44 pm

Solid defensive effort. Thomas utilized his bench in the 1st half very well and then trimmed the rotation in the 2nd half. The Bulls management should be scrutinized for the trade rumors and not signing their best offensive threats. 2-9 for a team many picked to win the east. I still hear the rats urinating on cotton at the United Center.

38 Lives In New Jersey. Loves New York November 24, 2007 at 3:56 pm

Peace, you have a point, but the key was that quite a few Knicks played hard.

LOL Steady. I wish it were that easy to take away a loss. 3-9.

States, I think the weak link was ZBo, but he made up for it in the last minutes. Tenacity. Tha’s a long way from the lack of effort we have seen from the team the last few games. ZBo was shaking his head in disbelief, but he hung in there and hit those throws.

Steph played an excellent game. He controlled the tempo on both ends. 37 minutes, 19 points, 6 boards, 1 Steal. 1 block ZERO,/strong> turnovers. Wow. Very nice. Why can’t he do this every game. His decisionmaking was excellent.

39 St_George November 24, 2007 at 3:58 pm

Yeah, I bet you beaches are pretty wet right about now.

Knicks 85-78

Blogzilla:

Welcome back. Now that you are getting back in the groove can we find an automated way of knowing when you start a new topic. Hec I was having a ball talking to myself on the previous thread. It just is not as scintilating commenting to yourself. Know what I mean?

41 Lives In New Jersey. Loves New York November 24, 2007 at 4:05 pm

Vic, I agree that Bulls Management and Skiles has just destroyed the Bulls confidence. However, last season a few of us projected this demise because Skile’s act wears thin quickly, especially as his players become vets. He treats his players like College boys as evidenced by his treatment of Thomas. And thise Kobe rumors just killed their spirit. It’s too late to make the trade now. LA is playing decent ball.

We cleaned up on the boards 52-42.

I like the combo of Balk and Jeffries for short stretches to change the defensive tempo and put pressur on the guards, but Balk tensds to cheat and get caught leaving his man for mid-range jumpers and tres. Zeke needs to do something about that.

I can’t wait until we get Nate back. This whole fiasco seems to have impacted him more than most. He probably expected to start instead of Mardy. He was forcing action today and 11 minutes is not much burn. He needs more shots, like 10 a game. Crawford had only 1 TO in 47 minutes, but note that the entry passes were coming from the top of the key more often. The ball comes in from the top to the key (Zach or David) and then the ball goes into Curry, but Zach has got to make those bounce passes. He had six TOs today.

42 Lives In New Jersey. Loves New York November 24, 2007 at 4:13 pm

The first big hurdle is regaining confidence. This is a good start. Monday morning, let’s forget that we won and act like we still need one. Utah at 9-4 and a two game winning streak (bitch slapping NJ by 27 and the Hornets by 28) is very beatable, especially since they play Detroit the previous afternoon. It’s so good to half Balk and Jeffries back. I can’t wait for Richardson to be able to hit that tre again, but he is hustling.

A back-to-back one game winning streak is possible. Then Maybe we can start a third winning streak against the Beantown Giant.

43 Lives In New Jersey. Loves New York November 24, 2007 at 4:14 pm

Oh snap. This can’t be real. The Hornets only scored 7 in the fourth against Utah. What is Sloan doing, giving those boys steroids or something.

O’k, I’m happy. Peace and blessings. Later.

45 Orange and Blue November 24, 2007 at 4:15 pm

An interesting I recall being mentioned during the pregame show was that the Bulls last year started out about 3-9 beat us at MSG and then finished the season at 49-33. They then got to the second round of the playoffs.

Also recall the Miami Heat team that started out with an 11 game loosing streak, they got to the playoffs and even advanced to the second round.

I’m not getting delusional and saying that this team will win 49 games or even be marked to make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs but the season is not over. They off course have to improve in areas like their foul shooting, and the entry passes from the high post needs to be bounce or quicker passes to Curry. Lives adequately pointed out Taz’s tendency to cheat of his man and leave shooters open, and the defense could still be tighter.

Let’s see how this team handles a disciplined team like Utah.

46 STATESMAN November 24, 2007 at 4:18 pm

‘Lives’

What!!!!

N8 has been a liabilitiy. If not for Zeke personal fondness of N8, N8 would be bury at the end of the
bench. Before today N8 last 3 games shooting from the floor, 1/8, 0/8, 06, w/ countless turnovers. N8
generally over-dribbles as the shot clock approaches zero, then the team has to take a
bad shot. Today Balkman hit a desperate jumper to bail N8 out. N8 will play fewer minutes, as the
record improve. Zeke does need a backup point.

I thought JCHUCK played a good game. He did not force the action w/ wild shots and turnovers. If he
can allow the game to come to him, the Knicks would be better.

Peace & Blessings

47 Orange and Blue November 24, 2007 at 4:20 pm

I recall BARF pointing out how Utah advanced against the Warriors was in part due to their offensive discipline rotating the ball and finding the open man. This is also where the Knicks are still suspect, as well as with the pick and roll.

There was improvement with the pick and roll but today I often saw players with wide open looks that were missed. Chicago has been on a terrible shooting streak- in part do to having no inside presence- but with a team that can shoot it consistently and is patient a la Utah, the Knicks are going to have to tighten it up.

If Utah will have played Detroit the night before then I hope Detroit makes them expend all their energy, this should help us.

States when I first read your exclamation, I thought African had been recovered by the Defender Dozen Recon Team.

I respectfully disagree regarding Nate. I don’t disagree that he has been struggling, which is why I wrote that I can’t wait to have him back. But N* is the key to controlling the te,p on the second unit and he is much better at the point with Steph at the 2 than Crawford or Mardy. In the second unit, Nate is the only one who cna create a shot, unless ZBo is in the second unit and ZBo forces too many shots. Nate needs more burn, especailly to give Steph a rest and an understanding that someone else will hustle. I suggest that Nate will play better ball with more time. he will be more relaxed when he knows that his coach will give him some love and not bench him too fast.

Nate is important to this team. And not just for trade value.

49 Post - up Prince November 24, 2007 at 4:34 pm

Isiah needed this win desperately. Game had it moments on both ends.
Defense was mostly there. Still no offense from 3 spot. Q must get
his shoulder/arm healthy and his shot back. Yet win can be basis to build on. Curry and Marbury did fine. Not the blowout that Peaceman predicted, but a win is a win and I for one feel a bit better. LGK.

50 STATESMAN November 24, 2007 at 4:45 pm

‘Lives’,

I do not believe that you can become a “TRUE” point in the League. N8 has a shooting guard’s game and
mentality. I root for Davids, vs. Goliath, but other then summer league when has N8 performed.
His best games last year was when Mardy was at the point and N8 at the 2. He did have a couple of 30 pt. games.
Making N8 into point is the equivalent of trying to put a square peg into a round hole. It does not FIT.
Time will tell.

Let’s Go Knicks

Peace & Blessings
