Blogzilla,
That is an OUTSTANDING site. Looking at the data and doing a simple trend analysis, it would suggest that we should be
looking at a 43 W season and potentially 2nd in the Atlantic. Not sure if that position holds or if it gets us in the playoffs.
Still somewhat disturbed by what appears to be a topsy-turvy (up-n-down) trend of winning and losing seasons for our side.

For Good Reason Steady, for Good Reason.
Good morning Gentle Fixers.
Unfortunately, life’s intensity has kept me away from the Knicksdefense family gathering and I have been unable to join you in efforts to find consolation in the latest events in the “wacky” world of the Knicks. Yes, I said it, but out of love, humor and hope, not as a belief system about the fortunes and misfortunes of my favorite team. There is a lot more to say, again unfortunately, I do not have the time to do it justice, but I will express my pride in how strong Knickdefenders are standing in the face of death.
Yes, I believe that IT is a dead man walking. In fact, I wrote it to myself in a note after the exhilarating and reminiscently disappointing double OT loss to Sacramento. I refused to watch the Denver game (except for a quick peak to see whether we would get down by 30 as I had predicted to myself) because after a double overtime loss their was no way they could win a back-to-back in the mile high air against a vengeful Nugget team. No way. I have also been happy not to have time to read the paper because I am unsure about Dolan’s resolve and reasoning and I was not in the mood to read stories about Zeke’s imminent demise. But perhaps Dolan knows that to fire Zeke after ten games will lead to another gutting. Perhaps Dolan still does not give a f*ck about the MSM. It is hard to tell, because the press is only right about Dolan after the fact.
Anyway, I have enough time to say three things to you:
1. I recently had the honor and pleasure of meeting General Harewood and he is certainly the gentleman and erudite scholar reflected in his writing. Meeting him and Peaceman have been added treats to this blogging passion. Previously, I had been skeptical of the utility of a group meeting, but I now toss my hat and opinion in the ring and suggest that the Defender/Fixer/Knation People make it a priority to get together at some point during the season. The positive energy that KH and Peaceman bring to their work is really, really them. Cool Beans man.
2. I am in the process of catching up with over 1000 posts and I am very proud to be a Defender. All of you have been doing a great job and believe me when I say that I know that all of the energy and hope that you have placed in the Knicks and the individual players will not go unrewarded this year. The spiritual leadership of Cooleyhigh and Steady has been nothing short of phenomenal. DNM, Peaceman, DaVonn, KnickDefense and others, bravo. It is almost time for a roll call to see who is still with us weathering the storm. (KnickDefense, I have no opinion on your name change because I will always know you as fiery Anonymous who slapped around FI before jetting to other parts of the blogosphere. Whatever you with your name is good). I predict that the storn is almost over and your strength is now record.
3. Admittedly, I am slightly timid about making anymore predictions since the Celtics are off to such a wonderful start and Marbury just buried my suggestion that he was ready to play ball this year. It’s funny because until I went to the Denver game, Marbury indeed looked ready in the first two games (Cleveland was not his fault), but in the Denver game he kept doing things that made little sense to me, so I instinctively withheld any suggestion that he might be ready based on the evidence. As for the Celtics, I stand by my prediction, except that I am not 100% sure about them missing the playoffs. If they continue to be what they are now, fahget about it. I will be just dead wrong.
So I give you point three with a little trepidation, but high expectations. I’ve never been afraid of premature prognostication, because at least I still got it off my chest. Plus, I’ve shot my wad early before and the only downside are the complaints. . . . I can handle it.
Check it out.
The Knicks Will Be About THREE Games Over .500 By Christmas
The Knicks Will Win Most of The Following Games
Count the following as losses
Detroit (second end of back-to-back)
Boston
Phoenix
Dallas
I put them at 16-11. I believe that I had them at 5-5 after ten games, which was a distinct possibility as others have pointed out, but for some bad officiating in the Sacramento game, ZBo’s loss (Miami would have been ours) and Steph’s loss of mind (perhaps to have been expected).
So, I suggest to all you good natured folks with good minds – you will not be wrong or wronged regarding your belief in this season’s version of the Knicks. Fell blessed that this has happened now instead of bursting later in the season. We have only just begun. Golden State is going down first. ENJOY.

DEE-FENDERS,
John Q, I agree w/ you. Dolan will probably give Zeke until Xmas before a move is made. A record
of 13-14(plus or minus a loss) would secure the season for Zeke and the team. Arecord of 9-18
will get Zeke fired. The “Execution” is up to the players. The best way to show their loyalty
is get “W”. Losing teams should not, and will not get a say in the next coach or GM.
Howard Beck & Frankie Isola both wrote articles today regarding the Knicks. One article focused
on the “Game within the Court”, the other focused on “The Game Outside the Court”. One appeared
to be News and Information, the other Gossip and Speculation. Will DEE-FENDERS get KNEE-DEEP
w/ the former or the latter.

GOOD AM Defenders,
MSM on sports in the NY MA? Pure bunk–a bunch of hypocrit ABS. There’s always an agenda. When ad sales don’t do it, then collect on funded articles. Good analysis, insight, and background information on Chandler versus Balkman or what goes on with JCraw on the floor. One BIG BUT…there’s a professional Coach/President assessing that talent at every practice. That article strikes me like a dead ringer for a “bank rolled” story from a player’s agent. The Coach may want a player in but the President may have other intentions. Consider for example that a GM may not to expose ALL his assets lest have them requested in a trade. They may be better off speculating if the fans will jeer or not during the game and introductions.

Steady,
You said……..”We had one isolated individual go as far off the side of his neck (as one can go) to say that Glen Grunwald is the one who did the deal with Portland because no GMs likes to do business with IT. COULD YOU BELIEVE THAT MSM ABS?”
Why do you feel that is so far fetched ? I don’t know if Grunwald actually did the leg work on the Zach trade but its believable. IT is not a very liked individual amongst NBA GM’s because he is not considered a “good old boy”. Let me say that this BS aint right but it is reality. How many GMs today have old Celtic ties or ties to the dream team ? How many are have ties to Larry Brown ? Zeke has enemies all over the NBA. Thats just a fact.
By JohnQ on Nov 20, 2007 at 9:27 am
In the absence of Cooleyhigh who’s attending to more significant matters on a personal level, I’m sharing this thought. It had a remarkable effect on me today.
“Slow down and everything you are chasing will come around and catch you.”

Applied to b-ball, maybe if our pound slows down the pace and plays the inside-outside game as being touted/coached by IT et al. then the Ws will come around and catch our fellas. Tuzobiraba!!!

JohnQ,
While I may support your formulation about IT not being a “good ol’ boy”, I certainly can’t accept as “fact” that NO GM in the NBA wants to deal with IT. You are free to believe what you want but I DO NOT BELIEVE this guy’s generalization. Am I to believe that IT and Joe Dumars had a fall-out and they are now enemies? What about Mitch in LA? The Maloofs? All of a sudden, some media hack is going to cause me to believe that the President/Coach of my favorite team is the biggest villain? The real question is what do you believe JohnQ? Does that belief further your cause/purpose? For sakes alive JohnQ, I sure hope so.

Balkman should probably go to IR. He has not played like himself. There were a couple of games he played where he had no elevation, no jump. For Balk to be effective, he has to be completely healthy. He is not a player with refined NBA moves. He needs to be the “Rodman” or “Pippen” for us; a ballhawk, with tremendous shotblocking capability. Can’t play that way on a bum ankle. He needs to heal.
It would be nice to see Chandler get 30 minutes in a game, for 3 games straight.
Isiah should play his 1998 Playoffs tape where he hopped around on leg to defeat the Celtics. Or maybe he needs to discover some loopholes in their contracts. Zach is the only player working hard every night.
By HarleminMD on Nov 20, 2007 at 9:52 am
I think the Knicks should just forefit the rest of the season!
There is no way we can catch up and pass ANY of these teams impressive records!
1. Cav’s 5-5
2. Bucks 4-4
3.Pacers 4-6
4. BULLS 2-7
5.Wizards 4-5
6. ATL 3-6
7.Miami 3-8
8.NETS 4-7
9. Sixers 3-6
WOW! We’ve got our work cut out for us to catch any of those teams!
I’m a little shocked, because after reading the MSM, I thought all these
teams were UNDEFEATED!
By Peaceman on Nov 20, 2007 at 9:59 am
Steady,
I’m not buying into the MSM assertion that Zeke is an NBA pariah. There are GM’s that will deal w/ Zeke but there are plenty who won’t. You and I know that the MSM is exagerating everything he does these days. All I’m trying to say is that even though highly exagerated, the writer does have a point to a degree.
He’s no villain in my eyes, but the fact is, Zeke’s made alot of enemies.

screwing with their plans.

By St_George on Nov 20, 2007 at 10:26 am
JohnQ,
There is a pattern w/ the MSM to attribute NEGATIVES to Zeke, and Positives to someone else.
When is was apparent that DLEE was a steal as the 29th pick in the draft, Berman wrote he was
drafted because Lee’s college coach(Donovan), was good friends w/ Brenda Malone the Knicks assistant.
This was a blatant attempt to negate Zeke’s find. After Balkman proved to be a player, Vecsey wrote
that the HOF coach was also high on Balkman, another attempt to negate his find. Attributing the
Zach trade to Grunwald is more of the same. When will MSM attribute the JJames signing to someone else.
What about the acquisition of Air Rose. MSM goals and objectives are very obvious. Zeke gets BLAME,
but never CREDIT. Besides, GMs are always looking to improve, they will speak to other GMs. Their
motto is “This is Business, not Personal”. Remember, Portland said that they had better offers
w/n the western conference for Zach from other teams, including San Antonio where Portland GM cut his
teeth. He traded w/ New York to keep Zach out of the west. It was business, not personal.
Peaceman, the NEts have underachieved every year that Frank has been the coach. They have slipped
from conference finalist under Scott to barely qualifying for playoffs. They have lost 6 games in
a row this year and 4 by 22 points or more, despite playing 8 of their first 10 games at home. Has
MSM called for Frank’s job?
Peace & Blessings
By STATESMAN on Nov 20, 2007 at 10:40 am
JohnQ,
If a writer has point to a degree then that writer should make that point and leave the degrees to the reader. News articles in the MSM have become like persuasive essays–like those diatribes read at the end of the Sunday AM show on BSPN. The degree from “NO GMs will talk to him” to (your) “made a lot of enemies” fuels this premature/ill-advised discussion about firing and takes the focus away from dissecting the shortcomings of our warriors while on the court. At least you had the hutzpah to come off the grandiose generalization JohnQ. The isolated MSM ABS should do the same.

100% agreed my man. The MSM deals in absolutes predicated on speculation. You would think there would be more gray and not only black and white. Only the non-media, like us sees things in degrees. Reality doesn’t sell papers.

Reality doesn’t sell papers. Conflict + controversy does. I bet if the Knicks manage to keep their nose out of controversy, the papers will either write about IT’s son out of wedlock, or interview ABS or they may finally turn their attention on Jason Kidd’s divorce. Most of these guys who call themselves sports analyst do not analyze any sports they just find ways to prolong controversy and malign people. it used to be most media houses rated their journalists on standards such as accuracy and verifiability. These days you see a lot of half-truths and fabrications being peddled as truth.
GMs deal players based on the business merits, not based on likability. If Ben Gordon asked to be traded right now, IT will one of the first people Paxson will call.

Unhappy With Effort, Isiah Kicks Players Out Of Practice
November 20, 2007 - 5:31 am
New York Daily News -
A desperate Isiah Thomas kicked his entire team out of practice Monday. The Knicks’ embattled coach was unhappy with their work habits.
The move comes on the heels of a six-game losing streak and amid increasing speculation that Thomas is on the verge of being fired. According to a source close to the team, Thomas tossed his players off the court at their practice facility in Greenburgh after he became frustrated with their lack of hustle and focus.
The players eventually returned but not until Thomas had made his point. It is unclear if the assistant coaches ran the workout, but the players were in a somber mood when practice ended.
“It is a three-ring circus,” said the source. “It’s getting worse.”
That quote sounds like something Isola would say no?
By DaVonn Jefferson on Nov 20, 2007 at 11:51 am
Peace,
Do you have a link to the article where Curry said that ?
Jazz,
Paxson isn’t included when I talk about good old boys or Zeke enemies. If any of the Spurs, Nugs, Celts, T-wolves, or Pacers (just to name a few) become available, does IT get that same call ?
Unfortunately, even if the Knicks were to keep their noses clean, I’m afraid that the MSM would invent something bad to say about our team. We all know the witch hunt is on.

Defenders!
Today in the great State of Maryland, Autumn’s splendor is apparent, and like Walt Whitman’s Book entitled ‘Leaves of Grass,’ All things must and will return to the earth from whence it comes to be regenerated and renewed. It is the natural order of things in this Universe.
It also applies to the Human Endeavor. First and foremost, I want to thank PEACEMAN for extending the right hand of Fellowship to me and mine. Words will never express how grateful and thankful I am for his act of kindness. THANK YOU PEACEMAN!
Steady, thanks for standing in the Gap and for the common bond that unites US. STEADY as he goes has been POSTING SOME GOOD STUFF…
To Lives, our RESIDENT POET, you were missed, but I understand and support your right to find YOUR BALANCE and wrestle with the Rollercoaster ride we call FANDOM…We are here for you my Brother from another Mother. “Wait on the Lord my friend and be of Good courage for He will strengthen thine HEART.”
I’ve have read many of the post and links provided by my Defender Family today, and I am not surprised by the views and the positions of the NYMSM or the National MSM. But I am so thankful my parents taught me to be concerned and concentrate on WHAT I THINK, and not worry about WHAT OTHERS THINK, because when I do so, OTHERS ARE THINKING FOR ME, and why would I give CONTROL of my INNATE POWER TO ANOTHER…Just something to ponder, chew on, brown bag, and UPPER ROOM for future reference DEFENDERS.
I have been a KNICK FAN all of my days and will always be one. The names have changed over the years and will continue to do so, andI will still be a LOYAL KNICK FAN. All fo US have come this far by FAITH, so let us continue to believe that ALL things are possible, and if we are currently at Rock Bottom as a TEAM and ORGANIZATION, there is no place to go BUT UP. Today is game day, so let’s strap it up, pump it up, and hope that our BELOVED NEW KNICKS WILL PULL THEMSELVES UP forge ahead trying to win ONE GAME AT A TIME. We’ve BEAT the NEGATIVE to DEATH, now let’s ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVES…As Statesman so eloquently expressed on yesterday, this TEAM has the talent and they can win, by making the necessary corrections as a TEAM, because they have all played a part in every lost, from the Coach, to the last man sitting on the bench. They can and will turn the tide and proceed in the proper direction. WINNING THE GAMES THEY SHOULD.
There are 73 games left on our schedule and I am looking forward every last one of them. I am actually enjoying this journey more than most, because of ALL YOU. I concur with LIVES, I am still willing to work with all of the Defenders to coordinate a group gathering in NYC and a Local one here in DC. BLOGZILLA/KNICKDEFENSE, when time permits, please post the survey/poll for the game of choice (weekend preferrably,if other DEFENDERS agree).
Tip off is just about 7 1/2 hours AWAY and I can’t wait.
Peace,Love, Longevity, and Prosperity is my earnest prayer for my DEFRENDER FAMILY!
Keep it POPPIN!

STATESMAN, excellent points re Frank and Nets…Peaceman, yep, it’s still very doable. There’s cause for concern but not outright panic…LINJLNY, I would add Utah and Lakers to the almost-surely a loss column. Like everyone else we’ll run over Philly and Seattle, earn at least a split with Chicago and New Jersey (watch out for Sean Williams, yo) and good bets with Bucks and Bobcats. The remaining few are up for grabs, all depends on what our team brings that night.
Whatever the team goes through in the next couple weeks, we just need to close out this half with a nice run/dominating record. As the adidas guys say, impossible is nothing.

Davonn:
Actually shaking up the team in practice is an oft used tactic by coached. It’s just that when IT does it it makes headlines. Remember when KVG took out the entire starting line-up during the 1Q of a game?

Daily Views, by beat writer Legend:( This is a joke, any real people portrayed are just coincidental)
It happened again folks! I will report from sources inside the Newest Hot spot “Closet Hangers.”
Sources reported again that Frank Isola and Mitch Lawrence were at it again!
Once again both were seen naked inside the Mens room kissing and fondling each other
as Mike Lupica was watching and cheering them on, as Isola was celebrating his exclusive story
about Marbury’s Bad judgment last week, leaving the knick team!
Once again Eddie the new bouncer formally of “Plug uglies” walked in on them!
Damn said Eddie, Man… Again I thought I was in another Horror movie, I also thought I might see
Ashton kushner and I was being punked!
Eddie asked them to get dressed and leave, but all three were drunk, and Lupica and Lawrence
yelled, Dolan is still keeping Thomas after all Frank has done to get rid of Him!
Eddie warned them again and they ran outside and Eddie hailed them a cab!
Lupica refused to get in the cab and yelled, I love you Frank! Meet me at my house for a threesome!
The outside crowd was LTAO, as the Lawrence and Isola got in the cab, they again forgot to pull
up their pants, and this time Lawrence had stains! The crowd seemed to laugh harder as Lupica
pulled up his pants slowly and seemed proud that he was wearing “Batman Underoos.”

Yeah, I thought a bit about that Laker game. It is a holiday game at home and Kobe is going to rack up a lot of points. I see a Jordanesque night, but if the Knicks can contain everyone else, rebound and stay up on Farmer, they should win a very exciting home game.
I am more concerned about the New Jersey games. If we could get or heads straight, NJ is ripe for the picking. But they have been fairly mediocre for a couple of years now. That Franks, Kidd, Jefferson, Carter mix is weak for several reasons.
Peace, LOL. I was thinking the same thing the whole time. LIVES has gone awol. HaHaHa. Only thing is that I didn’t need permission to leave. I had official orders to get my butt in offline gear. Life be demanding sometimes.
While I’m stealing the time, I must say that Stephon is a chump. I don’t care whether he had permission or not. . . he needs to exhibit some leadership skills. . . . perhaps it is too late because his teammates know him for who he is, but I suggest that on the court it is never too late. Maybe off the court, but on the court, every possession is a new beginning, a new chance to walk the walk. He is the best point on the team, but he is not the sharpest one.
Oh man, all Sean Williams needs is some playing time. He looks like a muggafugga.
KEEP IT POPPIN’. I’m outtie.

Defenders:
I e-mailed the following letter to the msgnetpr@thegarden.com
Attention: James Dolan, Steve Mills, Isiah Thomas
Gentlemen: I have been an avid Knick fan since childhood, whose loyalty to the Knick basketball team dates back to the days of Joe Lapchick and through the glory days of the 1969-1971 Red Holzman era. At no time in the course of following the saga of Knick basketball, not even during the hapless days of the Leyden/Checketts era, have I ever witnessed a spiteful conglomeration of metropolitian sports media bent upon the willful destruction of a team coach, team owner and team players as is currently exhibited by the sports pages of the N.Y. tabloids and sports radio/t.v. commentators. This batch of so called “analysts” hovers over the Knick organization like vultures waiting to pick apart every mishap and turnover on and off the court. Relentlessly hoping to cause dissension and despair as a means of promoting their own self-importance and selling their brand of nflammatory sports “news.”
My best advice to all associated with the well being of the New York Knicks, and especially the owner, coaches and players, is to tune out all the current media hysteria and concentrate on the basketball business at hand. While the Knicks have suffered a poor start to the 07 – 08 season, and without being blind to on and off court imperfections, there are some reasonable explanations: integrating new players (Z. Randolph, F. Jones, W. Chandler) injuries to key players (N. Robinson, R. Balkman, J. Jeffries, J. James) missing players in certain games (Z Randolph, S Marbury), and scheduled “back-to-back” road games—with some questionable end-of-game referee whistles, etc.– combining in one or more instances for losses in very close games—Miami, Los Angeles, Sacramento. The Knicks could readily be at 5 and 4 instead of 2 and 7 at this point in the season.
Above all, Mr. Dolan, please ignore the jaundiced jingo press demanding that isiah Thomas be fired, and allow the team time to stabilize itself, develop cohesion and find a winning pattern. At this point, caving to the media pressure by removing the coach/general manager will only cause depressing disruption, if not complete chaos. As long as Isiah has the support of his players—of which I am certain, then you may, along with many upbeat stalwart Knick fans (see http://www. Knickdefense.com) remain confident that the team will exert the energy and will to prevail over the course of 82 games. Do not disrupt what has been a painstaking, dedicated effort to rebuild. The Garden fans will recognize the determination and show support to the team. The wins will come soon enough.
Wishing the entire Knick organization and all Knick loyalists the best Thanksgiving and fulfillment of what still promises to be a successful playoff-bound season. Let’s Go Knicks.

I thank the noble Peaceman for providing the above e-mail address
and to all Defenders who have dispatched their heartfelt e-mails to
the MSG brass, especially Orange and Blue and Cooley High–with apology to any Defender inadvertently omitted. KFL

Wow Post-up, with that submission, you move right on top to King of the F’n Hill. I can say you spoke for me in that piece. I am Steady. BARF does the naming here but I will take liberties in calling you PK (Post-up King) or King for short. You’re a Prince no more.

Thanks Steady:
You, however, have little trouble speaking for yourself. Your posts
are often on point and as “steadfast’ as your namesake.
