Q shouldn’t start. He doesn’t even deserve to be in the rotation when he’s at 80%. We’re best served resting him until he can play near his potential – maybe that only happens 30 games a year for the rest of his career. It doesn’t mean he’s not a baller, but we do him & the team a disservice by sending him out there when he is not healthy enough to compete against elite competition. i think 20 minutes a night for fifty games a year against second team opposition is a role in which he could truly thrive.

Steph needs to sit and stew on the bench. Maybe even chew a couple of DNPCD’s with a towel over his head. He’s not getting bought out, he’s not getting traded. He will be deeply hurt (i hope) by widespread criticism and analysis, and i hope it instills a deep burning fury in him. i estimate a small chance – maybe 20% – that Steph could turn that fury into silent practice dominance, and eventually into an effective bench role as a combo guard. Can the fury overcome his balky knees? i hope so….

Eddy also needs to sit, but i just don’t see him being ruffled too much by it. He has a great role model in many ways in Jerome James, who does just enough to have the full backing of the Players’ Association to keep cashing checks. Some eat to live, others live to eat. i can hope Eddy will be motivated in a bench role to prove he should be a starter – and centerpiece – but i ain’t holding my breath.

Crawford gets off easy in this whole situation, no doubt. He needs someone to cave his chest in and question his manhood, ask him if he ever plans to develop ANY defensive intensity or intelligence at all. i could live with his chucking if he just showed me some passion, energy and intelligence defensively.

Was it all for naught, Defenders? If Isiah had come in five years ago with a straight forward agenda of making no trades, playing out contracts and simply developing drafted players and supplementing the end of the bench with league minimum scrubs who would be willing to play for a lousy team – would we be better off now?
