Check out the results from our most recent poll:

For the math heads out there, looks almost like a normal curve. All votes being equal, we can interpolate from the results that the average Knicks Defender predicts about 46 wins this upcoming season. Very interesting because, as you know, most NBA preview articles are writing off the knicks as 4th in the atlantic and out of the playoffs. That’s some contrast.

A few of the local newspapers are doing preview videos streamable online. Check out Vescey’s here.
Newsday also has one, but I couldn’t get it to load, and Berman from the post has one here, but it is not as positive. These videos were brought to my attention by the excellent The Big Push, which was in turn brought to my attention by our BARF–thanks homie.
Finally, this is the program I’m going to blame for holding some of your comments from being posted immediately. It isn’t me, this program is built in to the blog so I’ve done all I can to minimize its effects. It is only a problem for a few of you, but still, if you don’t see your post at first, just be patient, chances are it will go through.
Glad to see DVJ is back, and now we’ve got Tman here, Kevin Harewood stopped by and also mr. Trane joined in on the discussion, so it seems we all know the spot! Keep it poppin’ indeed!

Minus the payroll – tipping salary, the youthful hops or consistency, Stevie “Franchise” still has a lot of expectation in Houston:
And Stevie Franchise will be missing from the Rockets’ rotation Tuesday night when the “haven’t won a playoff series since the year before Francis was drafted.” Rockets open the regular season in Los Angeles.
The Rockets might not need Francis right now, but at some point this season No. 3, will need to be No. 1. He will need to be the guy taking the shots, making the decisions, winning the game.
The Rockets should have in Francis the kind of guy who can win a game — maybe even a playoff game — when their superstars don’t show up. (And you know those nights will come.)

“So when you look at it. IMO. There is a revolution going on! I could be all wrong; Been there before. But for some reason I believe I’ll be saying “I told you so” sometime this year.”
I agree.

T-Wolves get down to their final 15 by buying out their veteran PF Juwan Howard:
The Timberwolves negotiated on Saturday to buy out the contract of veteran forward Juwan Howard, a move that once finalized will get them to their 15-player roster limit by Monday’s 5 p.m. deadline.
The Wolves also are expected to release Wayne Simien — acquired with Antoine Walker and Michael Doleac in Wednesday’s trade with Miami — by Monday. Simien is the only one of those three players who was told not to report to the team.
Could this mean Juwan is going to Boston to actually play with KG?
Agree w/African that our our starting lineup should be
Collins
Richardson
Jeffries
Randolph
Curry
The problem with this lineup, of course, is Collins, Richardson and Jeffries are not completely healthy. They are our best compliments to the low post offense.
The biggest problem on Friday was our inability to feed the bigs on the post. Same ol’ same ol’. It will be interesting to watch relationship between Zach and guards. I don’t think he is going to tolerate stuff that Curry did. I can see him getting into Marbury and Robinson’s face within 20 games (please do!).
There were few moments in the game when Curry and Randolph were crashing the boards for multiple put-backs, making the Nets seem small. Lee had moments like that also. That should be our focus and Marbury does not appear to be doing it yet. He’s not shooting a lot, but the ball stays around the perimeter too long and the bigs have to sustain a perfect “post-up” before they get a touch. Big guards and/or great shooters seem like the answer (H20? Nichols?).
When did Magliore turn into Shaq? I must have missed his last 5 years. Solid big, but he dominated the paint against us. Scary thought.
With Big Ben out because of a sprained ankle, the Bulls might start Joe Smith alongside Tyrus Thomas to start the season against the Nets:
Smith said he prepares the same whether he starts or comes off the bench, an approach Tyrus Thomas said he shares. Thomas, who hurt his right foot in the game Thursday but practiced Saturday, could get the starting nod at power forward.
”It may say something to the media and the fans, they put a big deal on that,” Thomas said of starting. ”Coming off the bench or starting, it really doesn’t make a difference to me. I just want to help my team win.”

That whole Wally Pipp stroy this summer was about the changing of the guards (pun intended). If Stephon stephed out and leaked his script about Italy, then turn-around is fair play. Nothing But Actors. I do feel, however, that the Starbury wants to keep the Big-O like numbers/references. Maybe N8 gets up there but he has already paid SM the biggest compliment watching his film and emulating Stephon-not Isiah’s game.
African,
Would you not agree that in the second half of the season, after the SM buy-in, he fed the post extremely well and transformed the team and game as result? How does a professional athlete go from knowing and doing to not doing at all and then not being able to do? Sure, the quick answer is age and diminished skills. Is Marbury finished from your assessment? Granted, N8 is an up-and-comer but court vision and feeding the right player (not just the post) are the essentials that I value in a PG. As a teammate, I would be frustrated to no end if a player did not follow his own instructions and then affect the team game as a result.
Eddy lacks the drive and persistence (fayah in da belly) required of the big man at the post in da NYC. He’s too E-Z Eddy. (Maybe he’s an Edd”ie” as opposed to Edd”y”? Just bloggin’) Tman aludes to this point in kinder terms (encouraging and motivating like a coach).
Stephon is more like, “F’ it, if you ain’t gonna go down and will your spot on da post, then I’ma haf to give it up to my man JC and hope he make it”. To which IT then says, “I’m the coach ABS, come have a sit next to me.”
Did any of you see that episode when N8 made a bad PG choice and quickly headed to the bench w/o being hooked by IT? I think Tman saw it and bloged about it here. N8 knows what’s good. He’s got sumn’ sumn’ for this year’s Wally Pipp in da NYC.
My dollar bill says that Stephon did not forget to play the PG in NY what it will take to win with this team. Let’s see how it all plays out. The Lil General (4*) will not wait 10 games to sit the Wally Pipps this “MUST-WIN” Year.

It is a beautiful AM and I pray this message finds you and yours well and thriving through the Grace and Compassion of the Alpha and Omega.
“Our good nature and endearing qualities will not arouse the answers to our prayers. Rather, it is our mischievous, dishonest attributes that provide the master keys to heaven. When we identify and work to transform our self-centered qualities and crooked characteristics, the key turns and the gates unlock. Blessings and good fortune are now free to rain down upon us.”
I mentioned the other day this is big week for US and for OUR BLEVOED NYK. Steady, I thank you for the setting tone and for pointing OUR COLLECTIVE hearts and minds in the right direction. Steady as it goes and KEEP YOU HEAD TO THE SKY; BLOGZILLA, I thank you for giving US the MOST DYNAMIC PLATFORM FOR PASSSIONATE KNICK FANS…OUR home away from home; I want to thank Peaceman (Coach) for getting practice started this morning and letting the rest of my Defender TEAM-MATES (Together EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE)know it is time to strap it up, get focused, and get off to a blazing start; I also want to thank Barf for doing his Chores at his house, so BLOGZILLA on the QT, we can let him bring an overnight bag this week and he can lay his head, just check him out and see if he washes the dishes with cold water verses hot…LOL LOL LOL Got nothin but love for you BARF and thaks alwasy for all of the links you provide…Lastly, I want to thank African for that HORRIBLE PICTURE of Gus putting on his Make-Up, my favorite Warrior, couldn’t you report on some fights or something taking place at the Garden…Gus and Make-up, that is pretty damn strange…LOL
Seriously, the dawning of a new era in New York City basketball will begin on Friday, and MSM are hedging their bets and getting on board slightly (peeking through the back window, Blogzilla at night you need to pull down the shades)), because the EYES don’t lie, and they see what we see..(Like the old hit,”If you can’t see what I can see, your blind Baby, your blind Baby”).
What African hit on in his analysis from Friday’s game and this mornings comparison of N8 and Steph, speaks to the SGNIFICANT DIFFERENCCE in this year’s TEAM. By far this is the deepest team on paper in the NBA, and the Frank Sinatra of coaches (IT, my way or the highway) now has options with talent and he will use that talent becausing WINNING IS THE THING, NOT EVERYTHING, BUT THE THING….
VC, welcome to OUR house. The defender’s say your one of US, that’s good enough for me. Just one word of advice though, VC, we get real jiggy with it in the HOUSE THAT BLOGZILLA BUILT, both regarding OUR KNICKS, LIFE, SOCIAL ISSUES, the PATH OF ENLIGHTENMENT, any/all things that will make US Defenders better men and women, better human beings. Plus, we can talk MUCHO SHYTE and debate with the best of them; Oh VC, Cosellout.com is required reading for all Defenders, if you intuned GREAT, if not, you’ve got a lot of cathcing up to do, because OUR RESIDENT SCHOLAR MODI, got some TRUTH ELIXIR for you HOMIE… So welcome VC, and I look forward to your posts.
Coach do I get fined for being late to practice, or does this post square ME? Coach run US HARD THIS WEEK…LOL
Defenders amd Men of Distinction,
Keep it POPPIN
Make or Break Year for GS,
Literally!
African, completely agreed on your assessment in #33. Can’t help but note how you value one player’s good performance in summer league and pre-season and not others’
Barf,
referring to post # 38. A better question is will they buy out Walker, thus paving his way to a 3rd stint w/ the C’s. He could be very effective w/ that squad. He could come off the bench or start when they want to run small. Antoine would be the PF and KG at C. Dangerous.

Eddy lacks the drive and persistence (“fayah in da belly”) required of the big man at da post in da NYC. He’s too E-Z Eddy. (Maybe he’s an Edd”ie” as opposed to Edd”y”? Just bloggin’) Tman aludes to this point in kinder terms (encouraging and motivating like a coach).
Stephon is more like, “F-it, if you ain’t gonna go down and will your spot on da post, then I’ma haf to give it up to my man JC and hope he make it”. To which IT then says, “I’m the coach ABS, come have a sit next to me.”
Did any of you see that episode when N8 made a bad PG choice and quickly headed to the bench w/o being hooked by IT? I think Tman saw it and bloged about it here. N8 knows what’s good. He’s got sumn’-sumn’ for this year’s Wally Pipp in da NYC.
My dollar bill says that Stephon did not forget to play the PG in NY what it will take to win with this team. Let’s see how it all plays out. The Lil General (4*) will not wait 10 games to sit the Wally Pipps this “MUST-WIN” Year.

There were too many of my posts eaten up to mention. Is there a reason? Are there documented limitations to things i can and cannot post? I’m tripping dude.
One post took me 10 minutes to figure out and 2 I’ve scrapped.

BARF,
You see my trial here. Must be a soft word limit. As you know, we be blowing this WorldPress puppy up.

No doubt on Toine returning to the C’s. Thing is, I think he has more than the 2 years that Juwan had left on his contract although I could be wrong. C’s are set at PF with Glen Davis, Powe and KG. They need help at the Center and Juwan could play a supporting role if Scot Pollard proves to weird to fill in.
Steady, thing is, I’ve chopped and maimed some of my posts to try to fit them in. Some had links, others didn’t. I’m stumped. And frustrated.
Did yours have to do with links?
I’ma get dis thru even if it kills my ENTER button.

Nope– no links. I looked for post-911 words, adverts, cusses, nothing obvious.

something probably IS going on with the changing of the guard, considering:
A) After Stephon’s first year here, Isiah has been less vocal for his support of stephon after each season.
B) The “Wally Pipp” thing that Isiah keeps bringing up to the team, putting stuff in their lockers, ect, indicates to me that he will shake things up if the record after the first 10 games isn’t very good.
C) As most of the MSM has mentioned by now, Isiah singled out Marbury and Crawford for poor performance in the preseason, hoping it will stop in the regular season.
But from what I saw in the preseason, Crawford could just as easily be the guard to be benched on this team. Where marbury was effective getting to the basket at times, I didn’t see very much at all from Crawford in terms of production. even with his one big game, the guy shot 27.9% from the field in the preseason.
I could envision Stephon starting in the backcourt with Mardy Collins or Quentin Richardson just as soon as I could see Nate starting in the backcourt with Crawford.
Yet I don’t believe the guards are entirely at fault for some of the losses in the preseason. Curry and Randolph have not meshed, quite frankly. only one of the two shows up for any given game and that is a major problem. yes the guards get them the ball, but once they get the ball it is up to them to be effective together, not on alternating nights. Vescey states in the video above that he doesn’t think the knicks will be effective with both in at the same time, rather with one playing the 5 and the other being david lee at the four.
And Quentin Richardson, are you kidding me? 5 points per game, .31% from the field, that’s not a starter’s numbers even in the preseason. He’s reverting back to his numbers during his first season with the team.
So yeah, there may be some changes if things don’t shape up in the regular. But it could basically be anyone. And I’m not convinced David Lee isn’t a starter by now either. When close to 29 other teams in the league would start him, you have to wonder what is going on with the future all-star.

“Antoine would be the PF and KG at C. Dangerous.”
KG’s always played Center.
I thought the whole reason to bring him to Boston is to finally put him on a roster that would allow him to play alongside a real and young Center in Perkins. Perkins may not be an All Star level talent, but he’s a big body and a bruiser as was showcased during the first game against the Knicks. He frustrated Curry early and took him out of the game completely.
KG at the Center has been tried and tested. Its failed. KG at Center neutralizes him on defense. He has to bang too much and that takes its toll. I think come playoff time, after KG spends a full season at the PF position, everyone will see what McFale failed to do in Minny, which is find a real Center. Olowokandi was super garbage but they didn’t see the point in buying his ass out.
The report is that Juwan is talking to Cleveland but he looks like Drew Gooden to me–both physically and style-wise. It was already speculated here that Toine to the C’s was the okidoke between McFhale and his Danny-boy. He also told Simien, “You suck, don’t bother packin’”. I think the CBA precludes him from being picked up by Riley too soon. West the young man goes.
