Check out the results from our most recent poll:

For the math heads out there, looks almost like a normal curve. All votes being equal, we can interpolate from the results that the average Knicks Defender predicts about 46 wins this upcoming season. Very interesting because, as you know, most NBA preview articles are writing off the knicks as 4th in the atlantic and out of the playoffs. That’s some contrast.

A few of the local newspapers are doing preview videos streamable online. Check out Vescey’s here.
Newsday also has one, but I couldn’t get it to load, and Berman from the post has one here, but it is not as positive. These videos were brought to my attention by the excellent The Big Push, which was in turn brought to my attention by our BARF–thanks homie.
Finally, this is the program I’m going to blame for holding some of your comments from being posted immediately. It isn’t me, this program is built in to the blog so I’ve done all I can to minimize its effects. It is only a problem for a few of you, but still, if you don’t see your post at first, just be patient, chances are it will go through.
Glad to see DVJ is back, and now we’ve got Tman here, Kevin Harewood stopped by and also mr. Trane joined in on the discussion, so it seems we all know the spot! Keep it poppin’ indeed!

50 is the #….
No doubt!
I hope we get to fifty.
We will get better as the season goes on.
That is why I think 40-45 is close.
But we should be tight at the end of the season to make a playoff run.
So let it be written………
Not sure if web blogs like KnickDefense, Cosellout or StopMikeLupica, among others are having an effect on the MSM in New York but I was pleasantly surprised to see the Post forecast and hear Vecsey effuse praises on some of our warriors. Don’t let up Defenders, wherever you do what you do.
Coach, you’re a silent man. I think your name should be steady because you always are. Thanks for that history lesson.

As long as the Isola blog cancer isn’t allowed here we should have a good bloggin’ season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh BTW we should win 45-50 games if we remain healthy!!!!
Just in case any of you ever wondered how irrelevant or irreverant Rev. Al is, was or should be. We here all know better.

Modi,
Before I say this, I am going to say that I loved your article on how getting Curry offsets not getting Noah or Thomas. Under those same principles, if the Bulls use those 2 assets as the means to get Kobe, how does that trade look now ?
If that trade goes through the Bulls could start
Hinrich
Kobe
Nocioni
Smith
Wallace
w/ an anemic bench.
Kobe said he wouldn’t accept that trade so lets replace Thomas w/ Duhon.
Hinrich
Kobe
Nocioni
Thomas
Wallace
Thats a decent starting 5 ! albeit it still leaves them bare on the bench.
If this happens, and I predict it will, the Bulls still won’t make the finals. I’m sure there will be some picks thrown in as well because of the Thomas substitution. This should set the Bulls back years. If Thomas doesn’t blossom into a star Kobe will be stuck in a much similar situation to the one he’s in now. Wallace is just about done. Hinrich is overated. If Kobe isn’t coming here, I hope he goes there. Having him in Chicago will once again nuetralize the games best player.
If Artest didn’t want out yet, he’s gonna want out now ! Bibby sidelined 6-10 weeks to start the season. Time to make a push for the last puzzle piece.
JohnQ
The Kings were Playing on Espn the other night when they annouced Bibbys injury.
There in complete rebuild mode! Artest isn’t getting much burn, and after this year they will lose him for NADA!
It would take some first round picks and Maybe Chandler?
It seems very reasonable!
Steady,
I don’t know what impostor you are talking about, if people want to fake identities there is little that can be done. I’ve seen very little blog cancer here thus far, if any at all. Also, what did you mean by juvenile the other day?
How about Jones’ expiring pact, Chandler and a 1st rounder ? Now that’s reasonable. That’s 3 things they could use in the rebuilding process.
from Ken Berger’s blog
“Interesting thought: If the Bulls land Bryant with something similiar to the above package, they would be parlaying two assets they got from the Knicks for Eddy Curry — Thomas and Noah — into the best player in the NBA. So for this reason and many others, I have to believe that Isiah Thomas is involved in this situation on two levels: one, he must be among the dozens of GMs who’ve called the Lakers to see what it would take to get Bryant, and two, he must be talking to Bryant’s agent, Rob Pelinka, to see under what circumstances Kobe would waive his no-trade clause for a deal to the Knicks”
Thats funny. Berger and I must have a mind meld thing goin’ I didn’t read the papers tday.
Starburyfan
Steady has been a little unsteady lately, after I made a wise ass comment to
BARF saying ” The Spurs have been missing the Hell out of Rose.” Then this
LGM guy from left field throws a comment at me very Markesque about me not being a baller
and missing my High School girlfriend, when I retaliated Steady invited himself in an A & B
conversation as Mr. LGM’s attorney. Stateman just stated that Rose should be a bench Scholar,
and African (LMAO) stated that Rose needs be ML Karr 2 and stay on the bench waving a towel and Cheerlead!
I don’t see Steady and LGM defending Rose by going after African and Statesman for the same type comment
I made! I didn’t start that, so stop acting like a….like a….like a…word that Zeke was falsely
accused of saying!
So every newsrag in town has predicted the Knicks as a solid MAYBE for the playoffs. They all safely say they should be a playoff team but could easily fall out of the playoff picture. I guess nobody wants to eat their words if the Knicks step it up and kick some ass this year.
Steady as it goes, you are a funny dude, but I love your inquiring mind. What are you doing reading OUR local rag. Interesting article wasn’t it. The Sister who wrote article is obviously not a big fan of the Dear Rev…LOL
In regards to the Defenders influence on MSM, I am a fervently believer these Kats are peeking in on Blogzilla’s site regular, like ALL OF TE HATERS TOO…With the likes of Modi, LIVES, YOU, African (my favortie Zulu Warrior, who provided on site data earlier today)Peaceman, and all of the GREAT DEFENDER POSTERS, by shear will and eloquence are pushing the envelope, and the MSM is beginning to realize that there are plenty of thoughful and intelligent folks that read between the lines of their BS, and have the audacity to call them on it without hesitation or reservation.
That’s why WE (that also inculdes ME) must be very careful how we treat and respect each other in BLOBZILLA’S HOUSE, because them eyes be on us, and we don’t want them to BOX US IN and LABEL US (Hater Mark is a classic example of the vile and racist rhetoric tha plaques the BLOGOSPHERE). Just bloggin!
In regards to African’s depiction of the team, I believe IT spiked the juices of the MSM with his comments about OUR GUARDS, which is not his norm, but I am confident he will soothe them during course of the week, but also warn them, that they have to stick to the Game Plan (run the offense thru the BIGS and YOU BETTER STAY IN FRONT OF YOUR MAN ON D)or their butts will be stuck to the bench like Bed Pans…Why? We have very capable replacements and they will play and do it MY WAY…IT is defintely in FRANK SINATRA mode this season. His tenure depends on it! I am also a bit miffed that I will be unable to watch OUR opener on Friday, due to my travel schedule, so i will depend ON MY DEFENDERS TO BE MY EYES AND EARS.
Defenders,
Keep it POPPIN!
Question for Harewood,Tman, Bronxboy and Cooleyhigh!
Where would you rank Dwight Lamar amongst “PURE SHOOTERS?”
Could he have owned the sweetest stroke ever?
Have either of you ever heard of Bill Plezz from Mt. Vernon?
Gentlemen or should I say, Defenders, hello. I have blogging in a certain venue that just does not get it. Bloggers who’s venomous attacks on individuals whom they dislike call themselves fans. You can critize players, management and the NBA but with objectivity. Racism is part of our culture and manifest itself in some bloggers comments and overall thought process. The Print Media, hypocrites and wannabes, continue to brainwash the weak and prey on the low self esteemed. Starburyfan has done a excellent job in allowing all to contribute their thoughts and insights with intelligence, humor, grit and emotion. All Knick fans see things different but at the end of the day, we all want the team to succeed. Keep up the great work and everyone, Keep it Poppin!!!!
Vic Corbit,
I was the first Defender to mention your name to the Defenders here. You can go back and find that reference if you would like.
The few times I took a peek at Knicks Nation I would read your posts and notice a Defender in you by reading your posters. I recommended to my fellow
Defenders here, that we should recruit u or enlist u as one of us. You’ve found us! Welcome aboard, my friend—WriteOn! I looking forward to reading
your thoughts…and I’m sure all here would feel the same. I know Mark the inane clown and Frank Isola belong to each over there. But u Vic, remain here. And feel free to venture to the other blogs on Starbury’s blogroll you come out there are many here with feelings like your, and everything you wrote above is gospel, like this statement you wrote:
“All Knick fans see things different but at the end of the day, we all want the team to succeed. Keep up the great work and everyone, Keep it Poppin!!!!”
By the way, Anti-NYSportsNews is my moniker, and I’m a KnicksDefender!
BARF,
Vic, btw, on KnicksDefense—the Poster, Pre-Season Knicks Host Sixers Tonight…
on #19 I wrote this and using your quote from Knicks Knation:StarburyFan,
We should also recruit or enlist other potential Defenders to join us here as well. Vic Corbit, on Knicks Knation seems ready. Anyone else share that opinion. This is him getting on Frank Isola about stupid Blog poster remarks:
“Frank, who cares. Big Snacks James is history. Patrick was run out town by the media. Now he is this bigger figure of life? Patrick is the greatest Knickerbocker and deserved more from the media when he played. Selective amnesia is what going on here. When Patrick dragged his team to the finals on one leg, your tabloid could not get him out of town quick enough. So get off of this soap box. Patrick was paid homage to in the classiest of ways in February of 2003 when his number when up in the rafters. Have you forgotten about that? You do not need to do this. Patrick would not want this either the proud warrior he is. Keep it real Frank. You are insulting your bloggers in the know with this. And stop wasting our time with Jerome James, PLEASE!!!!!!”

Would like to read that one. if possible. Thanks! WriteOn!
Guys:
Something funny I noticed last Friday at the game.
Apparently Gus was running late or he does his thing on his own, but he was deep into beauty shop mode.
This guy has his make-up bag complete with brush, mirror and compact or whatever it’s called, doing his thing on the sidelines before he went on.
It sure doesn’t sound funny here, but it was strange or funny sight to actually see it.
I guess the lines are getting blurred. Gus is my boy though.
Anti, thanks for the love. I will share that Mr. Isola actually responded to that post. He was cordial but his memory of Feb 2004 needed a jolt. The Red Pill is in effect. Statesman is a wise man. Mark is trying to be cynical but misses and cross the line in his assesments of most Knicks. I may not like someone but to name call when someone’s life is in the balance says it all. I will not mention the man in this blog again. I watched the game Friday and felt the game was lost when Jefferies went down. He was hurt making a hustle play and we had very few after. In the two previous games, hustle plays and strong team defense were paramount. Jefferies was instrumental in both games. I am watching the replay of the Sixer game and for all those who understand the intangables of the game can appreciate Jared. New Jersey exploited the 3 postion the rest of the game and in their half court sets abused Jamal and DLee. We need for Steph and Jamal to shoot much better in order for opponents to pay for doubling the post. Nate has seem to figured it out. With Balkman returning, this will be a huge help with Jefferies down. I have seen the Post reporters videos and Vescey is on point. Berman is his usual wishy washy self. The new story in Knickland is that Thomas is not skinin’ and grinin’. Why should he with this media. Some have congered up old stories to sell papers but what should we expect? African seems not to miss much. I must comend you on the Gus catch!!! Keep it poppin, with red pills!!!!!!!!

African,
you can tell sometimes that gus does wear some kind of makeup, at least I had thought that before. most of the tv guys do, but it is weird them putting it on themselves without a makeup assistant.
he’s still the best announcer we have, in my opinion. all the great games from last year, I seem to remember Gus’ voice, even if he might not have actually called the game.
now the really weird thing would have been if he were doing all that stuff to prepare to go on the radio and not TV!
did you get to take any pictures of the game?
Dag Starburyfan, that Hahn article is nice. Different from the standard fare. Don’t tell me the KF-KD folks don’t have a positive influence.
Starburyfan, you did not tell me about Alan’s most recent post. Your citation to his article encouraged me to check it out. I love it. See What He Said. Village, as Mr. Hahn stated in his blog before, it takes a village to raise a blogger. Your work is wide reaching, but it is not done. Write On.
Bring on the real season!
I don’t see Cleveland or the Wolfs as tough wins! We should start 2-0!
To keep it rolling, we should really take it to Denver on the block!
If Curry/Zach are going to get flopped on by Cambey, they should at least
put him in the 3rd row on their first charge! Send a message early. I’ve never seen a flagerant
offensive foul when you use your body….just keep their hands on the ball! Let Nate guard AI.
Melo is going to get his, so just stop everybody else! We should win that one at home! 3-0.
Magic and the Heat next up @ Da Garden! Throw Q/Jones and Chandler in waves @ Lewis full court every minute,
not one easy touch for him and we go 4-0!
We’ve got the Heats number..had it last year! Go to Crawford early and often, He’s the Heats worst nightmare!
We can easly break their spirit if Jamal starts hitting three pointers! 5-0.
That would set up a confident West coast swing that may have us @ 7-2 if we bring it!
This is not by any means a stretch of reality! If the Knicks play with fire we can do this!
Zeke can relax, while we watch the haters tired asses vanish, or suddenly become fans!
The players owe it to Zeke and us fans to bring the hustle, desire and energy that this club
has! If they do just that…..we will thrive all season!
Whadup Defenders!
Had a pretty busy end of the week and weekend, and wasn’t even able to catch the Knicks Nets game on the 60 minute addition. It’s terrible that the team didn’t survive the preseason w/o an injury, and especially messed up since Jefferies was having a very strong preseason.
I’ve been backtracking to see what’s been going in the prior Starbury Posts I missed and see that their was some concern about how the team played against the Nets. Since, I didn’t watch the game I can’t substantiate an opinon but I like Post up Prince and Lives take on the end result that the Jefferies injury got the team a bit more reserved about going all out in the last preseason game.
With regard to the discussion about what role Crawford will play this year, or whether he’ll crack the starting five. I tend to think Crawford’s situation this year with the Knicks is similar to Marbury’s when he had to accomodate his game to the presence of Curry and Crawford as the team’s emerging scoring options. I agree with Lives that Crawford did work to improve his game under the HOF coach and that for a while he seemed more under control. However Crawford now must do as Marbury did a season or two ago that is defer his game to a more post oriented offense and defer to the bigs who will likely get the early touches in the games. I have a feeling that in addition to the extra bulk he added, the transition is especially more difficult for Crawfor since he is more of a freelance scorer and bulk shooter who needs plenty of touches to get/shoot himself into a scoring rythm. That will not likely be the case with the starting unit and his game might be the square peg that will not match. Additionally as has been noted, Crawford is not compensating for his shaky offense, in the preseason we’ll see about the regular season, by shifting his focus to defense. I guesse that’s why I am adding my vote to the chorus that suggest that Q ought to start at the 2. Q is a better spot up shooter works on the defensive end and won’t need as many touches as Crawford. Right now and untill Crawford can adjust, if ever, to the new two big man emphasis, Crawford will be better served coming off the bench when at least on of the bigs sit that way he can get the touches he’ll lack while Z-Bo and Curry or on the floor. Also if he is part of the second unit Crawfor along with Nate can be that units principle scorers.
Be back later

Good morning D’fenders
I kept up most of the weekend with the reading and I got to say that you guys are in rare form. I sat down to respond to a few posts and even got a few lines written but my home duties kept pulling me away. Alls good though.
Firstly, that article by Hahn was good stuff. Nice to see someone in the MSM has the balls (or the mgmt’s permission) to tell the story the way it is and not the way that will influence people’s opinions most. The more I read, the more I think the MSM wants to create opinions for their readers. I’m glad to see Hahn’s presented the story the way it is. As objectively as possible.
The truth of the story is a lot more interesting than the made up version anyway. If you like a good story, you should be “ears up, eyes forward” anticipating this upcoming Knicks season with Isiah’s team 100% behind him.
That said, let’s do a quick round up:
Tick, Tock. How long do the Kings ignore the Clock?
It’s time for someone on the Sacramento team to step up. With Artest suspended for 7 games and their point guard injured, there will be plenty of “extra” minutes to throw around:
A day after Mike Bibby’s thumb surgery meant the Kings point guard would miss 10 to 12 weeks and changed his team’s season so mightily before it even began, moving forward meant talking about the bright side. A veteran goes down, a youngster steps up, just as Martin did when a groin injury to former Kings shooting guard Bonzi Wells in 2005 led to his unexpected breakout.
Kobe catches flack from Jacks
Although he’s not breaking “new news”, Coach Jackson knows Kobe’s heart isn’t in it and in the article Kobe disagrees:
“Obviously he hasn’t thrown his heart and soul into performing on the floor,” Jackson said after practice Saturday at the team’s El Segundo training facility. “That hurts me a little bit. . . . He was going to work at this thing and [would] put his full being into this. Right now, he’s having a hard time doing that.”
Asked specifically what Bryant is struggling with, Jackson replied, “Mentally getting himself here and playing hard. . . . Is that a surprise to you guys? I mean I’m not breaking new news.”
Houston Press put the “Press” in Pressure
Minus the payroll-tipping salary, the youthful hops or consistency, Stevie “Franchise” still has a lot of expectation in Houston:
And Stevie Franchise will be missing from the Rockets’ rotation Tuesday night when the “haven’t won a playoff series since the year before Francis was drafted.” Rockets open the regular season in Los Angeles.
The Rockets might not need Francis right now, but at some point this season No. 3, will need to be No. 1. He will need to be the guy taking the shots, making the decisions, winning the game.
The Rockets should have in Francis the kind of guy who can win a game — maybe even a playoff game — when their superstars don’t show up. (And you know those nights will come.)
To be that guy, Francis needs to handcuff his ego and accept the early-season embarrassment of riding the plush leather seats that substitute for pine these days. If he does that, he could be a valuable “acquisition” later in the year.

Starbury;
You’re right.
They all wear that shit for TV. But it was just so funny to see him with the mirror and brush doing the touch-ups himself.
Priceless!!
I didn’t take any photos, but I’ll get some for the season opener.
In relation to Stephon, someone mentioned that once the season starts oficially, he’ll change, and start going inside.
That’s not that easy to do. You can’t just turn that switch on and off. That’s what bothers me. I hope I’m wrong.
When I think about it. I think we blinked and missed what’s really already happened.
The changing of the guard. Literally.
Nate has already taken that spot away from Marbury.
Let’s compare strengths that you need from that position for our team.
1) Ball handling.
That’s a tie. They both can handle the rock and get it up the court.
2) Entry pass/Passing.
They’re both not very good at it, but Nate the younger player, is trying to prove he can do it as evidenced in the preseason and summer league.
Steph is a cereer 8 assist guy, but has been driving to score recently and not necessarily to set up his big men.
That’s also a tie.
3) Shooting.
Nate wins that hands down. He’s probably the best shooter on the club. Zach probably would have something to say about that though.
4) Running the offense.
They both tend to abandon the play once the opposing team stops the initial attempt. They both tend to freelance a bit too soon. That would have to be a tie also, but I think Nate is so conscious about getting pulled, he would quicker fall in line.
5) Penetration.
They both can get to the hole. Nate gets his shit blocked, and Steph doesn’t get the calls. They both need to penetrate and hand off. Again a tie.
6) Defense.
Steph has stepped up in that area. Played great defense at the second half of last season.
Nate is not known as a stopper, but he brings the unique talent of pressing full court with his young legs.
Steph wins this one for now.
So when you look at it. IMO. There is a revolution going on! I could be all wrong; Been there before. But for some reason I believe I’ll be saying “I told you so” sometime this year.
That was all from my head. If anyone sees another area to compare, please chime in.
Defenders,
In the tradition started here by Cooleyhigh, and most likely endorsed by my “Blogurus” Tman and Statesman, I’m pasting this piece below to share this AM.
“Our good nature and endearing qualities will not arouse the answers to our prayers. Rather, it is our mischievous, dishonest attributes that provide the master keys to heaven. When we identify and work to transform our self-centered qualities and crooked characteristics, the key turns and the gates unlock. Blessings and good fortune are now free to rain down upon us.”

Asked specifically what Bryant is struggling with, Jackson replied, “Mentally getting himself here and playing hard. . . . Is that a surprise to you guys? I mean I’m not breaking new news.”

Tick, Tock. How long can the Kings ignore the Clock?
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]
