At least 50 if we stay healthy! We missed Balkman’s D on Pierce tonight!
I hope they break the old habit of playing sloppy against a lesser team like
Philly next game!
Nate was running Eddie House ragged. They had to find someone else to bring the ball up the court. Did you guys notice?
I don’t think he made a shot. That takes a toll on you.
They might have wanted to be in there, but as a coach he should’ve used a little better judgement. He, more than anyone else should understand that the NBA is a sprint, not a marathon.
Agreed bruh…the message that was sent was that they’re not as good as advertised…or better yet, we’re a little better than once thought.
Tom,
I think most NBA people agree, the Celtics are the team to beat this year. its going to be a competitive Atlantic for the first time in years. Thanks for being a good sport, it was afterall just a preseason game. But I like what I’m seeing from both teams, they are showing desire. Watching tonight’s game, that was like a playoff game. Respect to the big three. Lookin’ forward to the regular season!
I didn’t see a thing, but this is how I see it…We have a good team. ZBO gives US a third All-Star caliber player creating our own Nice & Nasty Threesome (Steph, ECITY, ZBO), along with the MOST IMPROVED PLAYER AWARD WINNER and POSSIBLE SIX MAN WARD WINNER CANDIDATE N8. AQ defensive STOPPER IN JJEFF(that’s his role and he will live with that for the Gold) With streak players like Q, JCRAW, we can win with them or without them, becasue we have other bench players like DLEE and BALKMAN and MARDY when he gets healthy, and we’ve got our 10,with a dose of Chandler and Jones when require due to minor injuries or other reasons. All OS, we talked about how deep this TEAM would be and we can now see it for real.
Morris and DNICE will be brought along gradually, and I’m beginning to believe HOUSTON will be back in February for the stretch run to lend that sweet jumper and his expereince under fire. I GOT A FEELING! ZBO will be our key, because when ECITY is off, we’ve got the second or maybe the BEST post player in the EAST to pick up the slack, and not many TEAMS can duplicate that in the MIDDLE. Maybe on the wings but not in the middle…
Lastly, based on what I saw with the Wizards on Friday, Atlanta is better, add Boston, and you add the Usual Suspects, playing in the EAST will help US down the road, because they will win more games against the Western Teams because the level of COMP IS MUCH BETTER ON THE RIGHT COAST…They will be much more sharper on the Road, and that will make a difference in the win column. Just Blogging!
Thx guys, looking forward to the World Series and the Knicks-Celtics games this year.
Let’s hope that our teams can play mostly at full strength this year, the injuries are a drag. It was good for us that your bigs exposed our bigs or lack of bigs, we need someone to back up up Perk.
Holy crap. That was a great preseason game. Win or lose I would still say the same.
The good………..
Nate was player of the game deffinitely. His defensive effort was absolutely great. He passed when he should pass and shot when it was needed. 3 bad offensive decisions all night, other than that he was perfect.
Zach looks good. Active on both offense and defense. He needed to pass out of the double team against Garnett though and forced a few instead. I have faith that will improve as he gets acclimated to his new team mates.
Curry looked good on offense. He still has a wide array of moves near the hoop. I’m glad to see the shoulder won’t hamper his efficiency too much. Defense is a totally different story. He looked more than a step slow all night. I don’t know whether that was due to Garnett (who I heard is a hell of a player lol)or its just him. Time will tell.
Lee had another fine double double showing. I would expect nothing less. The kid’s a hard worker. He was also very effective on the double coverage of Garnett late in the game.
Q was a defensive animal ! The 3 blocks on Pierce were outstanding and he was in front of him all night. Imagine how many he’d get if he was playing the 2 against 6’5″ Ray Allen.
The bad………….
Steph was in and out of this game. His scoring in bunches looked good. He was hot when he went to the hole. He was once again goaded into taking an ill advised 3 after making a decent shot. His post passes leave something to be desired to say the least. 3 assists and 4 TO’s aint pretty. He was outplayed by Nate offensively and defensively.
Jeffries looked ok I guess. I saw him make 2 good defensive plays. He is offensively inept to say it kindly and no play should ever be run for him. EVER ! All of his points should come from tip ins and put backs. ’nuff said.
The ugly…………..
Jamal looks absolutely lost out there w/ the starting unit. He looked to chuck shots instead of take them in the flow of the game. He looked much better w/ the 2nd unit in a free flowing running offense than in a stagnant half court set. He is a waste of talent on the front line. What is he there ? 4th option ?
The perimeter D is still atrocious. 3 swings of the ball produces an open 3 almost every time. We will almost surely have troubles w/ the perimeter as we did last year. Ray Allen, Scalabrine, and Posey had numerous open looks from deep but luckily couldn’t convert.
I’m not sold on the big front line. Zach looked much better as the lone force in the paint. Eddy took all the shots when he was in rendering Zach useless.
The intro music sucks ass ! I’m down for signing the petition to bring back the Dougie Fresh. Where do I sign ???
Afterthoughts……….
I haven’t seen an exhibition game with this level of intensity in quite a while. A good all around effort by both teams. I applaud the Knicks for exerting themselves in a worthless preseason game. For no other reason than to establish home court pride and show the C’s that they can be beaten.
I saw more good than bad tonight. It was a great win which I hope instills some confidence in the boys from NYC. I am amped for the season. GO NY GO NY GO.
Yes, cooley, what I love about the Knicks is that between curry and Randolp there is ALWAYS a low post monster on the floor. Can any other team make that claim?
As for Peaceman (you too cooley?), whatever happened to that bridge the you were going to jump off of after the previous Celts game?
Defenders,
A yeoman effort by Z-bo, Steph, N8 & DLee. Jchuck had an off shooting night but had an impact on da game not reflected on the box score dishin’ 6 dimes & just 1 TO. Overall, da boys handled their biznis 2-nite and took care of the ball with 16 TOs too many and shared the ball with 17 dimes.
Those boys playing sheepish must be on2sum’n regarding playa movement. I like how IT kept Chandler under wraps and smacked DNic’s ego with 0 mins.
BARF–I’ve been named OPS Mgr for some reason so it is my job to remember who says what–including bunk/hyperbole
Steady, agreed about keeping down the turnovers and moving the ball. NY has had a hard time in recent years, usually committing many more turnovers than the opponent. tonight boston and new york both had 16. good sign for the knicks.
it was a fun game to watch.
new york, boston, jersey, toronto and philly. gone are the days they speak without respect about the atlantic.
its cool for IT to humble d-nice with zero minutes, but i fear it will be ah7 all over again because this guy might be the one to go when season starts and we haven’t really seen him ball as a knick yet. he and jared jordan, i’m hoping for garbage time come wednesday to see what will become of these rookies should they be next to go. i doubt isiah will cut jerome, unfortunately. malik proved his value tonight by playing KG for a few minutes on D.
“the hack” is me, and I’ve already owned up to it earlier tonight.
196. that would be me african, when I picked my 15 I cut nate and Jerome. I knew it wouldn’t be Isiah’s final 15, that was my disclaimer when I made my picks.
but hey, this is a different nate that you’re seeing tonight. and I like what I’m seeing. hope he keeps it up for the regular.
Last week the Knicks lost to Boston by 40pts and scared us Defenders. Admit it guys!
But the Knicks we all know, cannot and would not have that type of performance a 2nd time.
So pre-season REVENGE SOUP was served— Thanks to the heroics of Z-BO and N8; and Davic Lee telling us to forget all about some guy named, Ron Artest.
I agree with Peaceman, Stern should do something about that neck grip Pierce committed on Crawford. What’s up with that? And do think, if a Knick player would respond in kind, like with a swift uppercut to Pierce’s jelly bean shaped head, then Isiah and his team are a bunch of thugs right? But who starts these altercations?
P’m not even going to mention that punch in a face some Boston clown gave N8.
Modi, thanks for the shout out and it is always good to hear from our Resident Scholar. Although, I have to pull your coat Modi, it was not I going off the deep end last week after the Celtic Game. As a matter of fact, it was quite the opposite. Neverthelss, I hope you enjoyed the win last evening and your site never ceases to amaze me. Just like you!

You’re a class act!!
Much luck and respect to your Celts….and Red Sox!!
PS: Did you know Manny Ramirez is from the Washington Heights section of the Bronx???
I’m rooting for them in the series.

D-Nice has asked to be cut so he can make another team’s roster. Isiah said no.

Yo
Anti,
“Last week the Knicks lost to Boston by 40pts and scared us Defenders. Admit it guys”
I said then it would take some time to work some thngs out for the Knicks, and the C’s had all the momentum going into that game…..
It didn’t concern me at all. It’s on the record.
