Vote Now: Who’s About to Get Cut from the Knicks?

October 16, 2007 – 1:41 pm

As of today, the New York Knicks have 19 players on their roster. As we all know, only 15 players can be kept once the regular season begins in two weeks. Recent online conversations have speculated as to who Isiah will next send packing. No disrespect to Walker Russell, who played well on the Knicks summer team in Vegas, but assuming he gets cut, who will be next? Lets take a look at the likely candidates.

Fred Jones

Fred Jones. Isiah hand-picked Jones in Indiana, and Isiah believes Fred can help shore up the team’s historically halfhearted defensive system. Isiah has also recently stated that Jones can play the shooting guard, as well as the small forward position. I’m not sure how anyone who has been listed throughout his career as 6′2″ can play the small forward position, but that is what Isiah is saying at this point.

Jared Jordan

Jared Jordan. Jordan has to be one of the most unproven and unknown talents on the Knicks. He comes to New York with the reputation of being a fundamental point guard who is good at getting his teammates involved with his passing abilities. Sounds like something the Knicks could use should Stephon Marbury’s minutes be reduced this year for conservation purposes. Nate Robinson’s recent development as a more fundamental guard may severely reduce Jordan’s chances of making the squad.

Allan Houston

Allan Houston. With all the recent emphasis on speed and athleticism in the NBA, shooting the ball well has become a lost art. Houston may be 36 years old and arthritic at the the knees, but he may be able to give the Knicks something valuable when you consider how many big men they have near the basket. There are rumors that Houston has a front office position waiting for him if and when his comeback ends.

Jerome James

Jerome James. Jerome came to New York from Seattle with the idea that he would be the starting center for the New York Knicks. Then Eddy Curry arrived unexpectedly after his heart fallout with Chicago. Jerome has been on vacation ever since, but his contract and Isiah’s reluctance to admit his mistake keeps him around the bench, year after year.

Demetris Nichols
Demetris Nichols. Rumored to be one of the best shooters in the draft. During the summer league, Demetris showed an ability to score from all over, as well as good defensive instincts. If Allan Houston and Demetris Nichols are competing for one roster spot, Demetris has youth on his side.

I will continue to take measures to minimize this phenomenon and hope that these couple of individuals will find something better to do with their time, perhaps they should stay on their favorite blogs and forget all about this place.

  2. I am honestly hoping that it is Jerome who gets the axe…but realistically I would expect Houston and Nichols to get cut.

By DNM on Oct 16, 2007 at 2:01 pm

  3. Great overview…mebbe it should be two posts, one on who we think should get cut and one on who we think oughta get cut (regardless of contract)?

By Charles Follymacher on Oct 16, 2007 at 2:06 pm

  4. I was actually hoping that Malik Rose and Jerome james were both cut. We have David Lee, Zach Randolph, Randolph Morris, Eddy Curry, Renaldo Balkman and I believ Chandler will play some pf before it’s all over. What’s the reason for keeping these two untalented and medicore playrers?

By boomann on Oct 16, 2007 at 2:12 pm

  5. Charles, agreed. I thought the same thing. Maybe in a few days I’ll do a follow up–I want to do something where you get to pick the 15 as if you were in Isiah’s shoes, but I’m still trying to figure that one out…

Check back tomorrow guys, I might have something for you after that boston game!

  6. hey defenders,

I was just thumbing through the rumors page and ran across an article saying that Arenas is opting for FA at seasons end. When is Steph going to Italy ? 2 seasons ? hmmmmmmmmmm.

By JohnQ on Oct 16, 2007 at 2:24 pm

  7. I think Isiah is going to shock everybody and cut Rose. I think he’ll send Jordan to Europe and cut Russell. That gives us 16 players.

After that, I don’t know what’s going to happen. As much as I hate to say it, James is needed in case Curry goes down. He’ll actually
make it interesting because I think he’s going to be the first back up big man off the bench this year. Give Curry a breather and have
James in with Zach. This way James won’t be the first option on offense like last year and he can focus on rebounding which he is
actually quite good at. When he doesn’t have to focus on scoring (being 1st option) he is more effective. He is a more than decent
defender in the paint. Only thing I can’t stand is the way he picks up fouls so quick. I’m actually getting used to him being apart
of this team now. All the players love him and Isiah likes him also. Last year he had the funniest moment of the season when he
dribbled up court and went behind the back and all. Classic material !!!

It’s either Houston or Nichols. See if Nichols would’ve went to Europe, we wouldn’t be in this situation. I hear he’s doing well in
practice though so if he earns his spot….God bless him.

Can the Knicks add Houston to the roster later in the year if somebody get’s hurt?

By DaVonn J on Oct 16, 2007 at 2:30 pm

  8. Whoops, I meant oughta get cut vs who’s gonna get cut, but glad you figured out what i meant. Great breakdown DJ, cosigned on alla dat.

  9. Bring on Boston
It’s only the preseason, but …

There are people in this building who are extremely curious to see how the Knicks match up against the Boston Celtics tomorrow at TD Banknorth Center.

    Add me to the list.

Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph are all ready to line up alongside each other for the first time. They will be squaring off against Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen for the first time.

Will it be a one-sided affair, or the rebirth of a rivalry?

Randolph was back at practice this morining after spending time with his ailing grandmother. She’s apparently improving, but it was important to get home for a quick visit.

    He’s all ready to go.

“I think we’re going to be starting,” said Randolph, who averaged 23.6 points and 10.1 rebounds in Portland last season. “It’s going to feel good to get out there with him. I’ve been wanting to play with him. He missed the first two games because of an injury, but he feels pretty good. He’s ready to go. I’m ready to go, so we just can’t wait for the game.”

    Curry is all set.

Every time his name comes up, Isiah Thomas launches into a hard sell, and I’m not sure why. He keeps talking up the sudden dominance his centerpiece is showing on the practice court.

Curry is supposed to be overpowering Malik Rose, Jerome James and Randolph Morris.

“He was good yesterday, and even better today,” Thomas said. “He’s just good. I look at him and the way he’s moving, the way he’s driving the ball, the way he’s shooting the ball. He’s driving left. He’s driving right. He’s finishing left hand, right hand. He’s supremely confident. He looks good.”

It’s something else to keep an eye on.

Speaking of James, he was scrimmaging with his teammated when we got in the gym here today. We didn’t see much, though.

Here’s the almost funny exchange with Thomas on that subject:

Q: Was that his first full practice?
IT: “I’m not sure if this was a full one. He sat out a couple of plays.”

Q: Was it the first time he was cleared for contact?
IT: “Yeah. Well, it’s the first time he had contact, but he’s definitely made contact with others.”

We didn’t get to spend much time speaking with the players after practice, they headed off the court in a hurry to get ready for the charter flight up to Boston.

There was no way to get a representative sampling, but Randolph doesn’t have any problem with Boston’s status as frontrunner in the Atlantic Division or Eastern Conference.

“It’s going to be interesting,” Randolph said. “They got a great team. We’ve got a good team, too. … We don’t need to be considered (among the favorites) right now. We’re just going to work our way on up to the top.”

    Thomas agreed.

He understands why Boston, New Jersey and Toronto might be ranked ahead of the Knicks at this point.

“All those teams are deserving of the attention they’ve gotten,” he said. “Our job is to go out and earn it and work for it and we’re prepared to do that.”

  11. I’ve got an idea fellas. This guy who writes the Knick Knacks blog for the Journal News is fast becoming my favorite Blog spot other then here. He’s getting the updates before Hahn or anybody else and it seems to me he has a very small following. Why not support him because I have yet to see any bias from him, not saying it won’t occur once his spot gets popular from the influx of the Defenders. I think it would be a clever way to get back at Alan because the other guy is the competiton. It’s too bad I don’t even know the other guy’s name.

  14. I’m not jumping on any other reporters band wagons but I will say that Mike D is good. He is up here in westchester.
However, I’m going to tell you know. He is an admitted Chicago Bulls fan and also I think a Red Sox fan. I’m not
saying there is anything wrong with that….I’m just saying lol.
He always gives fair opinions and sometimes he may throw is his shots but it’s never over the edge.
Jerome James is a riot booman.

  17. Starburyfan,

I’m not going anywhere. I was just making a suggestion. I came to the party late so I had missed that discussion on Alan but I did read the majority of people’s thoughts on the situation. I saw some people talking about sitting in and others talking about giving him a piece of their mind. I was just coming up with a contigency plan as to get back at Alan without going to his blog to do it. But I’m here for the long run, just thought it sounded good in my mind and wanted to throw it on out there to see if we had any biters. I guess not so it’s looks like it’ll be Knicksdefense fo life.

I thought about hitting up some other blogs other than the usual suspects–e.g., KK, Bermy’s Post Blog, and KF– but I am reluctant to blow up some other blog site. After the Alan Hahn experience at the Fix, I have less trust for Commercial News Bloggers. However, anywhere a decent story or a good place for mailbag can be had–aside of that whack ass Knicks Fix site– I’m for it. I think a healthy option is to build a decent non personal relationship with the commercial bloggers outside of the mainstream that we know for the purposes of obtaining alternative sources of info via a daily hit or even a mailbag. There is another Knick Knack blog site but it is written by a Steve Adameck. I think either site will do since they both could benefit from hits and some Q&A time.

    What do the defenders think.

    Starburyfan and Defenders

Did you guys check out my daily news update for today on the previous starburyfan post. There is a story of Kobe having Knee problems which are keeping him from an upcoming preseason game. It might just be exagerration and an excuse by the Kobster but worth reading. Also what was your collective takes on my ops regardin the approach of concentrating on offense during Isiah’s first season as coach rather than on defense? They should be under post #s 140 and 144.

Below are the hyperlinks to both Knick Knack sites either will do I suppose.

By Starburyfan on Oct 16, 2007 at 3:31 pm

  20. Can you explain the D-League rules to me? Why can’t the Knicks place Nicholls on the D-League rather than release him?

By Al on Oct 16, 2007 at 3:34 pm

  21. O&B,

when I went to the open practice last year, they only did offensive walk throughs, they did zero defensive drills. Now open practice is a light practice, and I’m sure they played defense in their private practices, but I found it odd that day that none of the drill were for defense.

I think isiah has basically said in public that last year they worked on the offense, this year they’ll work on the defense. hopefully they can put it all together soon and win some games.

By Starburyfan on Oct 16, 2007 at 3:35 pm

  22. AI
they can place demetris or jared jordan in the d league, but if isiah goes that route than he risks losing dnice to other teams because nba teams share d league players. that’s why isiah wants to send somebody to over europe, he hates to share his talent and would like to reserve rights.

d league is a little screwed up in that respect.

  25. No way Zeke cuts Nichols! I’ll say it again, No way! And he’s too good to go to Europe! You all know how I feel about Jordan and James!
I have asked this question more than once, is there a Rule against making Alan Houston an Assistant
Coach…..then Activate him as player during the regular season if we have an injury?
That would be the best senario! ANY Defender know the if this is possible? I love Rose, but this is strictly business, Rose,James and Jordan
will not be missed! If something happens to Curry, our smaller men are more competitive than James!
BTW, anyone see that Jason Kidd’s back is starting to give him BIG trouble! I read and article that stated
he left practice to go to a chiropractor! He may have a season like Q did last year, but Kidd’s what 35???
I don’t like to see people hurt, but that is sweet music to my ears! On second thought, it’s ok to see certain
people Hurt! Um …now that I think about it, I do like to see certain people hurt! Hurt real bad! lol

By Peaceman on Oct 16, 2007 at 4:14 pm

  26. Hey Starburyfan,

I like Follymaker’s idea of redoing the question. I guesse it would go like “Which current player will be the next to get cut in order to the roster down to fifteen and which player do you think should get cut in order to reduce the roster down to fifteen players.”

I was also wondering if you could do another poll and maybe the following question could be the topic of the question and some lively debate. “The development of which current Knick player will have a greater impact on the improvement of this years team?” I guesse that or something of that nature might be a good question to ask.

By Orange and Blue on Oct 16, 2007 at 4:14 pm

  27. Peaceman,
Do you recall there was a year when Len “Tree” Rollins did exactly that with the Atlanta Hawks–player/Asst. Coach. In fact, I may be dating myself here but so did Lenny Wilkens while with the Seattle Sonics. I believe that the NYK will keep one over the limit and rotate him on and off the IR list (active/inactive a la Cato). I certainly see Jjordan in Europe to iron out his craft and to develop confidence and pro-mileage.

I’m surprised that the Green didn’t hook up with someone already. San Antonio usually likes to rummage from our scrap heap. Has anyone seen where this kid landed.

For those of you who will be at the game, I need a baller’s assessment of AH20 (now 7) and his fluidity on the court. I can live with a little gimp on his gait but I will not accept limited lift on his rise for the J (or trey). I want to hear about the jab step to create separation. I saw a bit during practice but that tape may have been “spliced” or “altered”. Just bloggin’ here.

  28. There was an expectation that Fesenko of the Jazz would spend all or most of this season in the D-League, but he’s already been signed to a guaranteed contract and no other team has access to him. I think even if they send him down to D-league he counts against the 15-man roster (i understand the Jazz like to roll with 14 active anyway).

I’m guessing it’s about whether or not the player’s been signed to a guaranteed contract or not?

  30. Steady,

I believe that the 15-man roster eliminated stashing players on the injured reserve. You can carry 15 players w/ 12 activated per game, but there is not additional room for a player on the IR.

Welcome back from your mini hiatus ;-). I see here that the mini revolution you silently inspired has come to a positive end. You instigator you. I also noted a somewhat muted tone in Isola’s article on Jones today. Could this Defender community be having somewhat of an effect on the MSM? Say it is so Shamgod! All I will say is that the situation with that young hack on the Island did not have to get this “serious” or ugly. He’s young and ten years from now, he will be a completely transformed human being (or we should hope so). I pray that I too will be an improvement of my own self.

Why must he tell me that JJ’s tendonitis (knee) is a “legit” injury. Does he mean, as opposed to an illegitimate (sp?) injury? That’s why I often suggest these two words for JJ: medical retirement. 40. I just posted, for the last time, the following comments on Alan Hahn’s site:

    Alan Hahn:

I write to express my perspective that you entirely missed the point about the bloggers feelings regarding the word “Wacky” in the lead banner on your web site. Many of the bloggers who supported your site all summer did so because they thought you represented a more objective perspective than the prevailing sports media reporting about the Knicks’ organization. The fact that you interacted periodically with some of the bloggers and commented about their posts was a welcome dimension of your site.

Many of the active bloggers who joined the “Knix Fix” were former participants on KNation. A number of us initially posted views and perspectives to counter the frequently one-sided, hostile commentary printed in the N.Y. tabloids: Daily News and Post as well as other media sources. I joined these bloggers relatively late last season. Many were long term active posters who expressed intelligent, thoughtful, and knowledgeable insights about professional basketball and especially Knick basketball. Few, if any, members of the group were so blind in their fan loyalty to deny, see or hear criticism of the Knick organization or to recognize some mistakes made by Knick management. There was a recognizable community of bloggers who found camaraderie and conviviality in their cross-banter and postings.

Upon learning about your site, approximately 70 or more active bloggers who formerly found each other on Frank Isola’s “KNation” blog (N.Y. Daily News) mover over to your Knix Fix blog did so with great enthusiasm. All are avid, indeed passionate Knick fans, who ran up the “hits” this summer and looked forward to interacting with you and each other in the forthcoming Knick season. We readily became “Fixers.”

Sadly, all that has now changed by the placement of the ill-considered word “Wacky” in the lead banner to your site. At first, it seemed that you recognized the Fixer’s concerns. You expressed a measure of sensitive recognition of “the village” and explained that the word “Wacky” was not of your choosing, and indicated that the matter would be fixed once a temperamental “technician” could be contacted and gently persuaded. In the interim, we were instructed to “get over it.”

Yet as the days passed, nothing changed. Each day one or more of the “Fixers” drifted over to an alternative web blog site: http://www.knickdefense.com. Many moved over to express what they hoped would be a temporary message of protest, waiting and anticipating that the troublesome word in the “Knix Fix” banner would be soon “fixed.”

As I see it, the word “Wacky” appeared, unfortunately,
at a momentous time in the saga of Knick basketball history. After many years of poor performance and hopeless seasons, the Knicks, as many bloggers believe, are poised to field a winning, playoff bound team. Isiah Thomas has,
from the terrible cast he once inherited, purchased, traded and above all drafted a competitive team on the verge of success; and he has done so despite much media criticism.

Unfortunately, the term “Wacky” appeared just as the Anucha Brown-Sanders “trial/scandal” reached a critical stage—the jury issued a finding of “guilty” against Isiah Thomas, James Dolan and the Knick organization. The New York media wasted little time in vilifying Thomas and Dolan, some calling for David Stern to purge the MSG franchise from top to bottom. This was soon followed by threat made by Al Sharpton to promote a boycott of all MSG games. The N.Y. tabloids, Newsday included, talked about the “boobirds”
flocking to the Garden to boo, hiss and embarrass Isaih at the introduction of the coaches prior to Knick games. Suddenly, the Knick season was about to be undermined irreparably by the press hysteria demanding Zeke and/or Dolan’s head.

The insertion of the prefix “Wacky” before the “World of
Knick Basketball” struck many of us as one more kind of demeaning, spiteful and hurtful term in the context of the hostile press wounds being inflicted upon the Knicks. Those of us who previously sought comfort and solace in your blog site, were now understandably distressed and wanted the noxious term removed.

Then came your blog post of Sunday, October 14, 2007
in which you denounced the group who deserted your site (albeit temporarily for many anticipating a fix to the banner). Here, in my opinion, your hubris and bravado superseded good judgment. You characterized the absentees as “Bullies” and “Alpha Dogs” and declared that the blog site to be “my house” and implied that you would not be intimidated into changing anything. Thus at this time, the banner remains unchanged, –the word “Wacky” prominently displayed to gratify the owner of the house—a permanent stigma demeaning all who visit.

At this point, I for one, among many others, no longer feel comfortable posting at your site. I do not know if you are interested in repairing the damage done or even if matters can be repaired at this time. I for now, along with some 70 or more bloggers, increasing each day, have moved over to http://www.knickdefense .com. There I can find kinship with knowledgeable Knick fans, who post insightful hoop news, engage in agreements and disagreements in lively exchange, and share their thoughts on what promises to be a turnaround Knick season. Readers, I suggest that you check out the site and judge for yourself. I leave you Alan Hahn in your house divided and sadly broken. KFL

  41. My fellow Defenders,

I’m not sure what to say except that I Love You with all my heart. (Yes, Kissy Kissy, Zeke Style). Congratulations. It is an honor, an absolute honor to fellowship with you and to be a part of this group.

I was about to sit down and write my response to Alan after I caught up on all the wonderful posts including the great lead blog Starburyfan offered and all of the heartfelt condolences from my colleagues. But I was very happy to see post #30 by Cooleyhigh. Each and everyone of you deserves kudos for taking a stand and demanding to be treated properly and respectfully. I guarantee that a multi-pronged attack is what accomplished the result that may lead to a well deserved apology.

A multi-pronged attack means that your leaving the blog, your posts here, and your protests at Knick Fix got a deserved result whether you decide to go back or not. I loved the discussion about tactics and was happy to chime in about why I believed all of you had appropriate approaches to achieving some form of satisfaction. I cheated a little. I really did not want to post at Alan’s blog but I was prepared to spend the entire night writing “The History of the Wacky World of Knick Nation.” However, I really hoped not to waste my time doing that and I decided after considering all of your great posts that I would try an inside shot first and if that did not help, to write Alan off line as I know some poster would and did.

Based on the great comments from you guys I decided to do something I think a couple of others did — early this morning at 10:10am I sent the following e-mail to the editorial board and an old teacher of mine Les Payne. For those of you who know Les Payne, an icon of an African American reporter and a senior editor, you will know the significance. I have taken out my personal information which I had hoped would jog his memory about his impact on my life. My letter follows:

    Hello Mr. Payne,

I am certain you will not remember me, but I am ***************, more or less one of your students and followers over the years. I have had many opportunities to sit with you and listen to you about working as a journalist, the role of race in the business and the power of our voices. In fact, you were one of the encouraging reasons and supports, beginning with your visits to. . . . . So it is with that background and connection that I write you about a small problem festering at Newsday that may require your attention.

Unfortunately, one of your young and talented reporters, Alan Hahn, has dispensed his professionalism and incorrectly taken requests by many posters on the sports blog, Knix Fix, personally. The result is a testerone filled conflict that can lead to unintended problems for Mr. Hahn and Newsday.

Specifcally, overnight Newsdays Knick website began to receive huge participation due in no smal part to a large and lively community of posters who were dissatisfied with the Post and Daily News reportage and found Mr. Hahn intelligent and accomodating. Over the summer the number of rgular bloggers increased to over 70 and Mr. Hahn received considerable praise.

Apparently, the hits helped encourage Newsday to make cosmetic changes on the blog including the addition of advertising and the addition of a tagline which referred to the “wacky” world of the Knicks. The wacky reference was an insult to many of the posters for a couple of reasons. The reasons are best expressed on the blog itself, but to sum it up, many of the posters migrated to Newsday to avoid the apparent bias in the media towards the Knicks as a team and the members of the team.” Some viewed the term an extension of the media’s efforts to demonize black athletes and others simply believed the term insulted and demeaned their reason for posting on a fan blog. Consequently, they expressed their views and requested that the term “wacky” be removed.

Unfortunately, Mr. Hahn took the request personally and responded personally advising the posters to “get over it” and subsequently collectively referring to the posters, who felt his response was poor customer service, as “antagonistic bullies,” “wanna be activist” and “alpha dogs.” The comments also took on what, I hope, was an unintended racial consequence when Mr. Hahn likened himself to Sal the white pizza owner in the Spike Lee’s racially charged movie, “Do The Right Thing.” Posing himself as the white victim seemed curious given that it was clear a good portion of the dissatisfied posters were black.

Mr. Hahn has allowed his emotions to overrule his commonsense. Initially, he blamed the “wacky” on the IT guys who offered a dismissive response to the consumers complaints, before he took on his “alpha dog” stance as though he were defending hsi manhood. A simple problem is growing out of control. It was a customer service request that could have easily been handled. No one was challenging his right to write his stories with any words he choosed. The request concerned the introduction to a blog many of you customers were beginning to call home.

Mr. Hahn’s response has no place in a professional setting. Yes, a blog is informal but it is Newsdays new interface with its customer base and should be treated as such. It is quite ironic that Mr. Hahn would melt down amidst challenges during his job as though he were Ron Artest getting a beer thrown at him while at work.

I am writing you, because I know you will fix this problem where others will look in the mirror quizzically attempting to understand the big ado. Please take care of it so that I don’t need to join the other 30 or so posters in writing more letters to the editor and to the advertisers to express our dissatisfaction.

    Thank you. Peace and blessings

I have no idea what impact this letter had if any. For all I know it could still be in his e-mail box unopened. But what is that it was not a single effort or tactic alone that received the desired result. I AM SO DAMNED PROUD TO BE A DEFENDER. LATER.

  42. Steady,

I didn’t think my objection to the term “Wacky” would take on a life of its own like it has but I guess it was for the best. I noticed Isola wasn’t his usual page 6 self today, could it be? MSM knows they have to have their stuff together now!

  44. Steady,

I agree in the past the GMs could stash guys on the injured reserve, but last year I believe the increase to 15 players (over 12), on your team also eliminated the injury reserve stash. Please let me know if I am wrong. I thought that Isiah was posturing for a medical retirement w/ James, but James enjoys the life of a baller too much to retire. He does not enjoy playing, he enjoys the bennies (honeys included) w/ being a baller, so I am sure he is balking at medical retirement.

    Peace & Blessing

  47. I am so glad Alan finally took down “wacky.” You guys did it, all of you. You don’t take no sh*t from nobody, that I can see. I seriously respect that.

Hopefully this war we didn’t start is over now, and we can now talk about how many points we’re going to beat the Celtics by tomorrow. i’m thinking 10, maybe 12?

KG, ZBo, Alen, Allan, Piece, Marbury, Curry returns, a new Crawford, a repaired Q, a rejuvinated D Lee, its going to be good. Unless of course it looks like a pre-season game.

Let’s see how many minutes go these guys who might get cut get. Allan Houston in a knicks jersey for the first time in YEARS. The first game at the Fleet Center for their new trio, the game is all kinds of interesting without it actually being an official game.

  49. Prince,
Brilliant in #39. As I’m Steady and said that I would not post at that place until the word “wacky” was removed from the banner, I will avoid wearing the veil of hypocrates and submit a post entry there now that the word is removed. I will try to avoid grandstanding or burning the oil fields on my way out :-). You, O&B, and Lives have said all that needs to be said about the matter. My intention is to blog on a non-commercial site or not blog at all. I’m envious of Don’s “Let’s go Knicks” line. Tuzobiraba.

  51. How about this lineup at some point in a game

    PG - Stephon/Nate
    SG - Q
    SF - AH20
    PF - Zach
    C - Curry

Power post-up, penetrating point guard, 3-point specialists on both sides of perimeter. Sounds like Ray Allen/guy in Orlando with a legitimate power game. That would be a nice linuep.

  52. REPOST–REPOST–REPOST We’re home Defenders and our voices are resolute. Our silence is our force. Here’s the timeline and statement of facts.

It all began with this at the other place:

Posted by Shamgod | October 8, 2007 22:05 Go courtside with news and commentary on the wacky world of the New York Knicks.

Wacky world of the NY Knicks? C’mon what kind of ad is that? Sounds like they are making a joke of the Team

Anyone has the boxscore of tonight’s game?

    And then this followed:
    Posted by starburyfan | October 8, 2007 22:11 Shamgod

agreed. i was offended when i read it, but it is alan’s blog ultimately, so if that is how he sees it…

    Followed subsequently by this:

Posted by BARF | October 8, 2007 22:27 Thats effing usless

    I’m not idiot

    And then ultimately this:

Posted by Steady | October 8, 2007 22:36 I’M BAAACK–Working on a major post. Will hold off until Newsday shows some respect to the Fix community here and change that “wacky world of New York Knicks” banner and get its overall act together. You all know what’s good–take a stand here KFLers.

    KFL

To which others chimed in like this:

Posted by Orange and Blue | October 8, 2007 22:39 Steady

Do you mean a temporary boycott of the fix untill a headline more respectful of the Knicks Team is put up?

    And this:

Posted by Orange and Blue | October 8, 2007 22:44 “The Wacky World of the NY Knicks”

As if the Team– never mind the organization– were a bunch of hysterical insane clown possy. Regular Comedians that anyone and everyone can poke fun at and disrespect. While maybe there is some cause for that depiction of Dolan and his careless antics overseeing the organization. The players shouldn’t be treated as clowns or jugglers fresh of a Penn and Teller re-run for mere bread and circus style entertainment. Don’t throw our troops to the lions of sports hyperbole and reaction they deserve respect and by the post I’ve read this summer many have worked hard on their games and on their chemistry to take another step.

Do the players on the team some justice and Change the Name!

    ALAN

Show them and us the hard core fans some respect b/c we are the ones who have helped to build your Fame!

In the legal sense, this is the time line of what happened. But I still love Lives’ literary version most.

How about my ALL Defensive Knick Team at some time in the game.

    Jones
    Q
    Balkman
    Lee
    Curry/Zach

Hustle and Muscle with some scoring!!

    By D L T Knicks on Oct 16, 2007 at 7:53 pm

  55. Dr. Harlem,
Be careful that JohnQ not call you “nostalgic” for including AH20 with that fluid like water jumper as part of the starting five. I know, you’re just bloggin’. Doing the same bruh because I’ve got AH20 coming off the bench for 15-20 minutes and averaging 15-20 points per (if featured @ spells). He called me that and STILL, I blog. ;-)

Defenders, the rotation will not work like hockey or pick-ups at the Y where the players come in waves (1st team, 2nd team) ;-). It will happen according to match-ups. If there’s a point in the game where the matchup favors our side and we can burry a team with bombs every time down the court, then my “realist-full-cup-ass” says that a Houston and Nichols could be those bombers.

  57. Yeah Steady, I can see AH getting 15-20 easily, playing off the bigs. AH2 wouldn’t have to work so hard as in ‘99 to get his shot off.

    DLT,

Yeah, that’s a good one. I got another one. How about this lineup against Phoenix’s second unit?

    Nate
    Jones
    Balkman
    Chandler
    Lee

What about this lineup against Toronto?

    Marbury
    Q
    Jeffries
    Zach/Lee
    Curry

And this one against Miami if Curry gets a quick two fouls?

    Marbury
    Crawford
    Balk
    Zach
    James

    So many possibilities!

  60. Now that the ice has been broken, I had to set the record straight on Knicks Fix, this is what I just posted.

    >>>

I can’t add anything more to what my homie Post-up Prince has already typed above except to say thank you Alan for finally taking down the “wacky.” It made a lot of us uncomfortable posting anything here because we want to help, not hurt this team. I’m glad to see that word go out the window.

Glad we can get back to blogging about the Knicks. Just a few things I’d like to clear up…

emac2: quite frankly, you’re a johnny come lately. is that the trend now, to try to keep posts as close to two sentences as possible? “get a grip,” “get over it,” please show a little respect for those that came before you on this blog that were offended. that’s what this whole thing was about, respect. you show no respect and you get no respect.

yo trane: “The white house?” C’mon man. I’m just a simple knicks fan with a blog. I’ve had my blog for months, long before this “wacky” fallout just so you know. I don’t see why everybody can’t have a blog to write about how they feel, this literally is the last frontier for the first amendment. Everybody should have the right to publish, not just a select few. I have criticized Isiah numerous times on this blog and on knicks knation, fought people over it, but maybe you skipped over those discussions. I know they’re in the archives so I won’t worry too much about how people interpret the TITLE of my blog.

I also offer hope for the best and comfort in your daily lives. Let’s have some fun. Hopefully we can stop being “activist” for at least 40 games and deal with the business we are here for. LET’S GO KNICKS

BARF, you should never leave man. Your absence fucks up the vibe. BTW, is African in Watcher mode again. Goodbye Alan Houston Goodbye. Jeffries keeps number 20. But seriously, I hope AH has a superb game tomorrow. I favor old guys making comebacks. But AH is no Michael Jordan. Hint. Hint.

I peeked in on Knicks Fix. Great Post again Post-Up Emperor. The blog has turned into sour grapes, but I will post there from time to time depending on my mood. My home is where you are.

Your own letter to the Newsday editor was outstanding, and I believe, contributed to Hahn finally removing the “Wacky” term. Alas, too

At any rate, I am sorry for the personal loss in your family and

Great posts! I just got the news about The Fix. Strength in numbers. I think we should demand an apology from Hahn before we go back, then never go back.
That turd, trying to demean the very village that lifted him through the storm.
I say we stay at our house, and let him have his house by himself and die of loneliness. I feel warm and cozy here Starbury.
Like someone said before, once the season starts, there would be no more info that we would not have access to. Hahn’s insight does nothing for me. I would much prefer Lives’ breakdown of the East.
Lives, sorry to hear about the death in the family. You know you’ve got pillars here to support you. You’re ours, and we’re yours.
That game tomorrow should be on the FSN New England channel. You know how much they love the Celtics up there. I doubt they wouldn’t televise it.

I just don’t see why Rose should be on this team.
Like I said, I respect him for everything he’s done but he just doesn’t fit here.
Plus he tries to do things he can’t. Sometimes it’s like he wants to do a reverse 360 dunk

  87. So Harlem, you think after Dolan gave Zeke the keys to the Garden, he is going to overule Zeke on the matter? Don’t get me wrong, its totally possible but he been so “hands off” so far I can’t see him undermining the man he put in charge.

I think giving Houston this chance is a feel good PR move at best. Another story other than ABS ( A BullShitter) whose picture still adorns the daily news basketball section of the web (Lupica the idiot keeps it there the LB loving SOB ! ) Basically its a diversion from the bad press that has been outshining our warriors in orange and blue. Nothing more, nothing less.

If he hits a few shots tomorrow night are you guys going to be waxxing poetic over it for days and days ? The man can still shoot. There is zero doubt about that, but having his body endure the rigors of an 82 game season ? No way man.

  88. Steady,

I’ll do that as long as you promise to type ” I need to wipe the 99 outta my eyes” 20 times when he gets cut.

  89. African, Steady, Starburyfan, Anti-NY-Sports News: thanks for the positive feedback. Your posts are always on point and meaninful to
“the village.” Many of my thoughts in the post came your prior
commentaries. I will now stop the mutual admiration stuff–with
    apologies to John Q.

Harlem-Bovin MD: I love the first lineup of a Lee, Balkman, Chandler,
Nate and Jones===a small team with great energy and ability to
play an up tempo/pressure defense and fast break.

I will offer some feedback tomorrow on the matter of which 15
players Isiah will likely keep from the 19 currently on the roster as
well as some options that may be available.

  92. “Jerome James went through a full-contact practice Tuesday for the first time this month.” You gotta be kidding me!!

Jerome is practicing now, AH7 playing, boston’s big three (they need a less generic nickname, they should have a contest like golden state did in the 90’s), E-ZBo, the new crawford, the improved D Lee, the repaired Q, the selfless stephon…

too good not to be on tv. i don’t care if it is preseason, it’s going to be interesting.

  93. JohnQ,
Gotcha. Just curious though. Have you ever played on a team or do you currently participate on one–at work, in sports, your local gym? While in college? Parks and Rec? Any where? I do recall you basing your comments dismissing AH7 on the fact that you are 36 but I’d like to know of my chances of winning this little wager before cuts are made. I may need to rest my fingers in order to deliver on your requested prize.

yo dvj? think there is any way to get kobe?

I don’t know why he’d want to go to chi if he is trying to avoid all the MJ comparisons.

By Starburyfan on Oct 17, 2007 at 1:58 am

  98. yo defenders, kobe has cleaned out his locker. the word is dallas has a deal sending D. Harris, J. howard and draft picks to the lakers for the mamba. If this happens, the lakers should be shot in public by a firing squad. Somebody tell me this is not going to happen.

  100. Seems like I missed alot yesterday afternoon and onward. I want to congradulate all the people on this defenders website for sticking to their principles and helping produce change over at our former Knicks Fix site. To that end I believe it took the efforts of the village with special efforts by LNJLNY and Post up Prince amongst others. Kissy Kissy lovey do!

Anyhow I’ve heard alot of banter about Kobe that he cleaned up his lockerroom and that he has alrady or is nearly on his way out to Dallas. Well I decided to check out some links regarding the matter and it seems that currently Kobe’s locker is less than full, and that although the Laker’s Phil Jackson also said that Kobe isn’t going anywherer Jackson is reconsidering whether he’ll resign with the team. Although Jackson claims health is a concern for him due to his hip problems, Jackson also seems to suggest that how the team plays and shows on the court will have much to do with whether he stays– read between the lines and you’ll see that Jackson is concerned of not having a superstar to make him look good as a coach. Also despite his disclaimer that Kobe is going nowhere, Jackson conceded that one can’t tell at this time. Just check out the links below.

    BARF:

Don’t know if you pondered the thought of Kobe heading to Golden State? If you did I think the following article seems to discount that possibility.

    http://www.mercurynews.com/timkawakami

Lastly as it regards the Knicks, I wonder if the supposed ill will between Buss and Kobe may result in Buss oking a trade of Kobe to the Knicks as a way of “punishing” him? What Buss don’t know could definitely help us land Kobe, and we more than have enought talent to trade for him and be very competitive with Kobe.

Allright I’ll be back with more NBA news when I can.
